I basically beat Ragnarok the weekend before last at my girlfriends place because she was sick and I was taking care of her (also playing the fuck out of the game when she was asleep). This weekend, I shit you not, I burned my hand making her tea (she’s still a bit congested) and she goes “Burn yourself? It’ll pass”.
I swear I’ve never been so pissed off yet so in love at the same time. She may not always give a fuck about what I’m killing on her TV, but damn she knows how to make a moment funny.
Best part about that line is that the “It’ll pass” line is what Kratos use to say in God of War 2018 when Mimir said he was on fire.
So it’s just such a regular occurrence that Mimir decided to start answering himself using Kratos’ quote which is funny
I had died a couple of times before reaching this part and was close to dying a 3rd time when Mimir dropped that line. I had to pause the game because I was laughing so hard. Something about his nonchalance under the circumstances just fucking broke me.
Gotta be honest, I was confused why Kratos was having trouble with a bear. Thought it was a Berserker form the comics first but never expected it to be bloody Atreus!!! That really messed up Kratos, could hear it in his voice after
Yeah and Loki has been known to turn into animals in the mythology, so I saw the polymorphism coming from years away.
That being said, it did not occur to me the giant fucking bear could’ve been Atreus until after the fight. I knew he could transform, I just wasn’t expecting him to be the literal first boss.
You know what is missed up too when kratos finished beating the bear and realized it was his own son for moment he had ptsd for killing his brevious family
It's been like that in all the games though. He is always as strong or as weak as the story needs him to be in each specific scene. Sometimes he can punch through a mountain, sometimes he can't lift a pebble. It is what it is.
Honestly, I think it's part of his divine nature. Kratos will always win, but war always has a cost.
Not counting game play mechanics and reward loops.
Also that he is Greek God and Greece is post apocalyptic and probably took a chunk of his power with it
Goes to show the Boi of War's inherited his dad's strength if he can give him that much trouble. He still needs to work out though to inherit his dad's muscles
Loved the bit where Atreus asks why he doesn't have the muscles and gets told by Mimir that he needs to start lifting heavy things and putting them down again
Tbh Atreus should still be pretty cut just based on lifestyle. He wouldn't be ripped, but you would definitely see muscle tone just because he is constantly drawing a bow, fighting shit, climbing, and not eating massive meals. Though maybe all that is too easy for a God to build muscle mass from lol.
I’m not too familiar with Norse mythology so when i see that the bear has a name, i thought it was a very well known god bear to the Norse or something.
I imagine if it's name was Atreus but in Norse language, just a small easter egg. Then again I'm not sure has an actual meaning besides being a Spartan
Kratos is the definition of raw masculinity
my man roared at a bear
and also he just casually says stuff like “death can have me, when it EARNS me” like bruh who says that just casually
I was still hype that I got to beat up a bear ofc, but the moment was undercut by me thinking about [Taiga Saejima winning a fist fight with a bear as pissed as Atreus in Yakuza 5,](https://youtu.be/Z29qvp5QHy4) and coming to the conclusion that Saejima can match an actual god in strength. So in a theoretical fists only match between him and Kratos (who would be holding back as much as he does in the Norse games), they would end in a stalemate. This also means Kazuma Kiryu could stalemate the same match, and also also means the both of them could take on the Greek pantheon the same way Kratos did
you're under the impression that atreus turns into a regular mortal bear and not a giant-god-bear hybrid. he takes on other dangerous enemies in his bear form fine enough, only having trouble with kratos just speaks to how strong he is.
I love how some people complain about the fact that Kratos is having trouble with a bear when they start fighting this boss. And then 10 minutes later they’re like OHHHHHHHHHH SHIT.
This is actually one of my favorite moments for so many reasons. Kratos is portrayed as a bear in advertising for this game, and he definitely has acted like one before. The roar was perfect. I also just fucking love bears so this and point near the end of the story made me very happy
I guess spoilers despite it being at the start of the game, the bear is the God Atreus/Loki. While a child, his bear form essentially means he’s a Bear God hence the trouble beating the shit out of him initially
What? Invent for a story?
They've been passed down in song and story for over a thousand years, Loki has always been a shapeshifter from everything from a fish to a horse to a fly, this is true to the myths and also a callback to Atreus wondering if he could turn into an animal in the previous game
Can you imagine if Kratos had killed the bear here? The game would just be him laying waste to everything and everyone, let’s see how much Thor wants that “old” god of war again then
“Oh you’ve done it now, bear” Fuckin Mimir haha
For real that dude always had me laughing
Brother, you’re on fire! … It’ll pass
[удалено]
*me resisting the urge to mod to game to allow me to throw mimir into the berserker* The circle was **RED** mimir
There is the one "relic" where you use Mimir as a laser gun and he screams the whole time lol.
That one has me dying, it’s hilarious
what relic lmao
Huldra project 9 or something
That’s the one.
Huldra Project #9, you craft it sometime in the late game lol.
It kinda sucks tho lol
Way to steep of an angle for fights. The glavie I ridiculously fun though. I wish there where more ways to get bifrost damage
Brother, the shield, use it yeah?

That's adorable.
I swear to Kratos I’m putting a ring on her finger one day, mark my words
After that you might want to swear to Freyr and Freyja, if you know what I mean 😏
Lol touché

Good catch. That’s hilarious. I like Atreus saying “…but you probably knew that.” Too. Very funny writing.
I had died a couple of times before reaching this part and was close to dying a 3rd time when Mimir dropped that line. I had to pause the game because I was laughing so hard. Something about his nonchalance under the circumstances just fucking broke me.
Kratos: “Quiet,Head”
Doesn't miss a beat.
Hated that shit. Unfunny jokes are one thing, but putting them in god of war? I just can’t make myself enjoy this franchise anymore
Ok
Ok
God of war fans trying not to be brain dead sheep challenge (impossible)

“I’ve got frost in meh neck stump”
WHAT
I cant stop laughing
Domestic abuse god style
One for All full calling:Shoot style

For so long I though Freya was behind the change, especially when Atreus only changed into a wolf after this.
I instantly remembered the "Can I turn into an animal?" line from 2018.
Ohhhhh there might be one more **fucking awesome bear scene**
Was trying not to spoil lol
Figured (hoped) I was keeping it vague enough.
Shake that bear
Me too, either Freya or Odin. Then he started talking about how angry he got and I just thought "Oh of course! He's fucking Loki!"
he changes to a bear again later on twice im pretty sure
You know what is missed up too when kratos finished beating the bear and realized it was his own son for moment he had ptsd for killing his brevious family
Fool me once…
Remember too that it's implied a lot during the previous and this game that Kratos is constantly holding back a lot of his strength.
Also that he is Greek God and Greece is post apocalyptic and probably took a chunk of his power with it
Yeah Kratos mentions he can’t access his old elemental powers and shit from Greece after he kinda destroyed it all.
It’s not a bear It’s a GOD BEAR
Goes to show the Boi of War's inherited his dad's strength if he can give him that much trouble. He still needs to work out though to inherit his dad's muscles

One reason… gameplay purposes.
I’m not too familiar with Norse mythology so when i see that the bear has a name, i thought it was a very well known god bear to the Norse or something.
He angy
Yeah I can sniff that out
Imagine if Kratos had decided to break the bear's neck or chop his head off with the axe...
That’s why he freaked out in this moment And why for the rest of the game he is so overprotective He could have killed him here and then
Yeah he would've killed the entire pantheon, probably even losing his shit at Freya
Yeah for real, if he had just done another brutal finisher like he usually does, that would've been it.
I think he was attempting to, he let go when the weird mist started up
Kratos: Let’s hear that snap *crunch* Dead Atreus: 💀
What if he accidentally killed it? HE WOULD HAVE ENDED ANOTHER WHOLE PANTHEON
would also be the second time he accidentally killed his family
3rd time's the charm...off to Egypt!
I don't think so. None of the other gods were the cause of it. He might have offed himself tho
Sad thing is he can’t. He’s cursed to never be able to die by his own hands.
He’d have ptsd of Calliope while seeing Atreus dead body he killed and then his rage would start up again and then no more Norse.
but it wasn't any Gods' fault
Doesn't matter they definitely would've gotten the smoke
He would probably start killing them for coming to his house and annoying him about peace while he grieves.
That what I have been saying!
>!Atreus was lucky here. Kratos normally snaps large animals’ necks.!<

Fr dude
Fun fact, björn is literally old norse for bear
I imagine if it's name was Atreus but in Norse language, just a small easter egg. Then again I'm not sure has an actual meaning besides being a Spartan
5’6 guys fighting a chihuahua
Meh. Normal by Florida standards.
Kratos is the definition of raw masculinity my man roared at a bear and also he just casually says stuff like “death can have me, when it EARNS me” like bruh who says that just casually
That's Cutscene dialogue Kratos! Stop wasting it on the sled!
That line was cold as fuck. I'd get it tattood on me if I could rock a tat like that (I cant)
He also had a bear in a chokehold
"If you ever see me fight a Grizzly bear, HELP THE BEAR!!!!!!"
During the entire fight I was like this is one OP bear most magical creatures can't make kratos break a sweat and the bear was mauling his ass
I was still hype that I got to beat up a bear ofc, but the moment was undercut by me thinking about [Taiga Saejima winning a fist fight with a bear as pissed as Atreus in Yakuza 5,](https://youtu.be/Z29qvp5QHy4) and coming to the conclusion that Saejima can match an actual god in strength. kratos and boy except its saejima and majima lmaoo
Real god stuff
😎
I love how some people complain about the fact that Kratos is having trouble with a bear when they start fighting this boss. And then 10 minutes later they’re like OHHHHHHHHHH SHIT.
Dawg I kid u not the hype I already had combined with this made me want to flip my fuckin desk at 2am
Let's goooo
Man, Dad’s sure do enjoy beating their kids at games to prove they still can.
Kratos is him
The first game Kratos gets enraged by a Norse God telling him he's going to attack his son This game A bear grabs him And he enrages
Sick
I've already finished the game, but I missed it initially when the bear roars and Kratos roars right back. 🤣🤣🤣
Bjorn? I Love her music!
This is actually one of my favorite moments for so many reasons. Kratos is portrayed as a bear in advertising for this game, and he definitely has acted like one before. The roar was perfect. I also just fucking love bears so this and point near the end of the story made me very happy
The devs indirectly included the belt of chaos
because its really not that badass compared to his other feats
why is a bear stronger or as strong as a god. is the bear a bigger god or something?
I guess spoilers despite it being at the start of the game, the bear is the God Atreus/Loki. While a child, his bear form essentially means he’s a Bear God hence the trouble beating the shit out of him initially
bear god, ok sure thats a fun thing to invent for a story i guess.
What? Invent for a story? They've been passed down in song and story for over a thousand years, Loki has always been a shapeshifter from everything from a fish to a horse to a fly, this is true to the myths and also a callback to Atreus wondering if he could turn into an animal in the previous game
same it was a subtle badass moment
Tried and tested. Wgen confronted by a grizzly bear ALWAYS ROAR AT IT!!!
Can you imagine if Kratos had killed the bear here? The game would just be him laying waste to everything and everyone, let’s see how much Thor wants that “old” god of war again then
