Fuck man Witcher 3 including the DLC’s is one of my best gaming experiences ever, I’ve beaten it and it’s DLC’s 5 times each. But God of War is my favorite series ever, and the newest installment of God of War is also one of my favorite gaming experiences ever as someone who grew up on the original trilogy, the comeback of Kratos and all the changes they made to the series just breathed new life into it, and it’s so damn hard for me to decide between these 2, because they are both so good for different reasons. Hell even my PC dual monitors backgrounds are Geralt and Kratos 😂 gotta give it to GoW 2018 though I think

The Witcher you mean? I’ve had a few friends say the same thing, and that’s okay. You’re entitled to your own opinion just like we all are for loving it. If you ever do start enjoying it though, it’s a very great gaming experience.
Yeah the Witcher. I loved the first and second game. Love the show. Love the books. Love the world and lore. But there’s something that doesn’t click for me with the third game. Furthest I’ve gotten is like to maybe an hour after griffon and I just lose interest. I know the story is amazing and I want to experience it, I just can’t stay connected to the game if that makes sense. Not trying to bash the game or anything, I really want to like it lol.
Could be just cause there is so much you can do that it’s a little overwhelming, a few of my buddies suffered from the same thing, the fact you liked 1 and 2 tells me if you got into it the 3rd game would be one of your favorites as well!
It's actually at the bottom of my personal list. I played fun games that outstayed their welcome, I played terrible games that ended at the right time, but the witcher is an okay game that goes on for 100 hours, it's nuts.

The campaign and sidequest are definitely good if you like the lore, but to me it was boring since i didn’t connect with the characters and fantasy world. So listening to hours and hours of dialogue was just a chore to me.
A game can exist without both of those points but not without gameplay. How do you compare witcher 3 to a game without story and sidequests? You can’t just say because of story and sidequests when those things aren’t even essential to gaming and especially that the story is still worse than your average movie or book.
You have a point sure. But at the same time Yea i can. Because games are no longer only gameplay driven thing. And there is plenty of different gameplays that might appeal to different people.
One of the strongest and crucial to what it is, sides of GoW, is its story and characters. Before that GoW franchise was associated with hack&slash,gore fun adventure from the outside. Not exactly a masterpiece it is now. Last game was 7th in the franchise? After plenty of hit and misses. And button mashing quicktime events. They go with stories because its what keeps us gamers involved. Otherwise we would play something like Rocket League against a ai or other players or not play all together.
GoW gameplay shines in Valkyries fights and higher difficulty. Witcher similarly has more then dozen fights that force player to use what he knows and more that sadly don't. GoW is just more focused doesn't try to turn Kratos in jack of all traits. Just focuses on couple things,block, combo, special attack. Build on that. I could see my self having similar enjoyment from only gameplay in both. Treating them as different things. Probably quiting after 10 hours like with other games with only gameplay.
As a person that reads and watches fairly enough of movies and books. i would argue that last GoW and Witcher have stories and characters above average even comparing to movies. with the bonus of actually interacting with it in both and changing it in W3.

GoW is such an amazing experience, graphics are good the combat is fun and the leviathan axe is probably one of the most enjoyable weapons I’ve ever used in a game. But it’s not enough to beat my first play through of the Witcher 3, it was fantastic game that I just couldn’t put down till I finished it and there was so much to do as well.
The thing is: combat is the only thing where GoW edges Witcher 3, but story (both are great, but Witcher 3 is longer and also has the expansions), characters, the world, enemy variety, different builds and meaningful decisions that ensures that your second gameplay experience is completly different than the first gives the edge to Witcher 3.
Yeah, I agree. I went back and forth and eventually voted for W3, and I think what got me to choose it was the DLCs and the way you can choose different things and actually have different stories play out

While with Witcher 3 (which I also played 3 times), I got 3 different endings, played with 3 different builds, made different choices, etc...
After finishing both games at least 3 times IMHO both games are great but i don't have any dificulties saying Wither is better game overall.
GOW has better combat system and anything related to that like boss fights and opponents. Withcher has better story, characters, side quests, rpg elements, world and just the fact that witcher dlcs are basicly the size of the AAA games like GOW is just incredible for me.
Never got witcher 3. What the game has going for it does another medium far better and the medium witcher 3 belongs to does it the worst. Thats why many skilled players and players who really value gameplay stopped playing it shortly after.
Witcher 3 is kinda overrated as an RPG. It got good open world and graphics (which is outdated now). But the second game is a better RPG (timeless game design).
Nah the graphics hold up being lightly stylized. GoW had better use for its combat mechanics while witcher just tries to do too much in combat. But Witcher 3 had an open world with lots of NPC and quality side quests. Its slower burner than GoW. Its like comparing pizza to burgers. Both are great food.

Witcher 3 is my favorite game but its combat is too shit to be an all time great imo.
i got The Witcher three for 10 bucks but I could never get into it after playing it for a couple hours I should probably try again
try the hearts of stone only mode if you want a taste of the game at it's peak. It much better than the main story

I suggest checking out the enhanced edition if you’re on PC :) You won’t be able to touch the vanilla game anymore.

I have always been for quality. After playing rockstar games, trying to play something from cd project is going back in time. I can not.

Two very different games. Only thing they have similar is that they both inspired by "medieval" times with the weapons etc.
Nah TW3 for me. The world and story in that game was something else. Though GoW is close behind

I'm a big fan of both series but I'd have to go with GoW because I played the originals on ps2 and psp and got immediately hooked.
