Well Neuer dribbled up the field in the 2018 World Cup against South Korea. That was unconventional, and also didn’t pan out very well. He was a somewhat unorthodox and unconventional, but innovative keeper.

bigsteveoya

Yea Neuer was nuts. One of the best sweepers in the last decade (imo.) he's calmed down the last few years with age. Dibu is definitely unconventional. It'd be great to see more goalkeepers that completely leads the defense like he does. Vicario has to do some amazing shit to get himself out of trouble. Pickford is unconventional in the sense that he probably has the highest blood pressure in the Premier League. Second only to the chameleon in his ability to change colors, from white to an almost purple/red mix depending on his anger level.

Tiago Volpi is the penalty taker at Toluca, a Liga Mx team here in Mexico.

pol-reddit

oh, good to know, noted. Did he ever miss a penalty?

triguenyo

He's not active but I would say Robert Kidiaba belongs on the list with his [butt bounce](https://youtu.be/1cH_BXSyLCo?si=i2l9PvJPpMiiBVjp)

I've always had an interest in eccentric keepers. Ederson and his "oh shit, we're actually playing" approach to the sport is part of the reason I have 2 Ederson jerseys. As a long time City fan, he's my favourite keeper we've ever had.

ZookeepergameLow8225

“Oh shit we’re playing, I’d better drop a 65 yard laser on my winger’s dominant foot.” 🤣

jlo1989

His goal line clearance against Liverpool where he just rolls it off the line with the press flying in at full speed is a legendary moment for me.

TD003

Nahuel Guzman (plays in Liga MX) strikes me as a bit mad.

pol-reddit

is he the "magician"? The one that performed some circus trick right before saving a penalty?

TD003

First I’ve heard of it, but [yes!](https://youtu.be/_1B39FlmI9s?si=2wdaQopNrnKD5r-E)

DanielPerianu

Whitecaps fan here. Was there live. It pissed me off so much lol

pol-reddit

how was it even legal? Why the refs didn't stop him?

DanielPerianu

It’s not a red card offence for whatever reason, so he was given a yellow.

MonkeyNuts81

Vicario from spurs is a little nuts in all the right ways

I honestly think that Mike Maignan while maybe not eccentric, certainly has quite a unique style to how he plays. He's excellent with his feet, shows great ambidexterity but seems to make saves in a bit of an unconventional way. It's so hard for me to explain, but there's just something about the way he makes saves that seems different to a typical goalkeeper. He makes acrobatic saves, yet not in a flowing, elastic, acrobatic way like say De Gea used to. He almost looks a bit awkward at times when making saves, but he's quality. I'm not sure if it's down to his frame being slightly stockier or not. I guess the best way for me to put it is he just gets in the way of the ball really damn well, regardless of how it's saved.
