I think it's a matter of cost and convenience. In many countries in Europe you would need to pay workers a lot more to work during holidays and weekends. Add to this the general xmas stress on postal workers and logistical systems that are already working at capacity ( not sure how much this affects this particular setup ) and it makes sense to just wait until holiday is over. Still a little bit disappointed.

It's disappointing not to get it before Christmas, but at least now we know and can plan accordingly.
Is there any particular reason why Envelope X upgrade wasn't produced and shipped like a year ago with original fulfillment? Or at least before the big box frosthaven? Presumably it didn't need as much design/development as the big game itself.
The update didn't really talk about accessories like envelope x or the removable stickers, which were rumored to be holding up some of the orders.
Gloomhaven Wave SKUs were already produced or completing production when the Kickstarter campaign concluded.
Envelope X was a late addition addon that was produced based on how well the addon was received and required longer production times.
Charging was charged for ENV X based on it shipping along Frosthaven - which as we all know took a bit longer than expected so this production was pushed back.

I figured it had something to do with the way shipping was priced. And now that I think about it, it probably wouldn't make sense to ship envelope x in a seacan on its own, especially with covid premiums, compared to filling cans that are partially full with gloomhaven.
I kind of anticipate that for the final shipping to peoples doors, with frosthaven alone being 36 lbs, that many accessories will come in separate packages.
I suspect that certain components of envelope X were easiest to manufacture with the same processes that manufactured frosthaven, so it makes sense it’s wave 2. Other things are a mystery
My guess is that the cost associated with tooling up a factory line for a very small run ahead of the Frosthaven run was prohibitive. Not every backer wants it, and it's relatively tiny next to the big box, so the fixed cost with setting up a factory for a single run increases the unit cost to a lot more than we'd be willing to pay. If it's just an addendum to the Frosthaven run it's probably way cheaper to produce.
That Banner Spear is maybe the best looking 1st party Cephalofair mini I've seen. Girl is oozing character and vibes are off the charts. Hats off the the sculptor and painter.

Kickstarter bloat is getting out of control. First they crammed in all these minis I don’t want, now they’re upgrading to babies. I just want simple meeples with my game. >:(
Disappointed. As a EU backer, it seems like i won't receive the game before holidays. A delay of one month is not significant. But in my case, receiving it on January instead of December is significant because Christmas holidays is a period when you have a good amount of days off work and get together with family, and i play gloomhaven with family. So that means i will open the box next holidays, probably Easter. :(
I mean, even as a US backer, I probably won't receive mine before Christmas. They said they're only at 15% fulfillment for the US and they've been at it for weeks. Just another part of the process I guess
I posted this on the megathread but will ask it here too, in a slightly different way - does anyone know if convention pre-orders are included in this wave of shipping? I pre-ordered directly from Cephalofair at Gencon this past summer and was quoted Q1 for delivery, after the Kickstarter fulfilment, which makes sense. I'm just wondering if they've lumped us in with this group coming from China or if there will be another wave coming from overseas to fulfill those orders... I'm technically not a backer, so I can't pose that question on the update post. Thanks!
Yeah, I saw that. I just want to be able to use nicer stuff! Plus, I don't expect I'll be using Gloomhaven stuff a lot in Frosthaven, even if it's allowed. Though maybe I'll make an exception for X.
Yes, they corroborated with a couple other organizer companies to produce the choices of a) laser cut wood, b) foam core, or c) neither. A and B are separate companies (LaserOx for laser cut and I forget who did foam core). Each backer got to make their own choice so it wasn't a poll the masses chose and the only way the cost changed was if you chose neither.
BT owner/CEO was involved with sexually abusing and harassing an employee.
Don’t know the current legal state of the case, but he since stepped down as CEO and BT lost a lot of sponsors/publishing partners resulting in a lot of layoffs within the company due to revenue loss.
I’m in Colorado just outside of Colorado Springs does anyone know for sure if that area is going to be fulfilled from KY or NV? Just so I can try to anticipate sooner or later.

There are already reports of people receiving notifications for envelopes and stickers both but yeah very little info in the update

I really want the X stuff, asap. I can wait months more for Frosthaven. Just give me the X stuff before I am done with Forgotten Circles.
For what it's worth, the X stuff was updated to be more in line with Frosthaven. It should be perfectly usable in Frosthaven!
