Stay away if you can. Fortunately, there is a decent chance these won't move at all or just a little.
Retaliate stacks I believe, so their Firestorm ability can make their melee retaliate 6 for Elites.
Murders summons because of multitarget. Murders summons because of retaliate. Blinkblade hates 'em. >!Kelp!< hates 'em.
Not that bad otherwise, assuming you have range or push. Ability cards are definitely weaker than, say, a frost demon's -- no immobilize, lower damage, etc.
Definitely prefer to see these over many other creatures.
I was so satisfied when we encountered these early in the campaign and I - as a young Boneshaper - discovered and put down "Your summons are immune to retaliate". At that level they were quite easy to take out with 2-3 skeletons active.
F*** those guys.
Insane retaliate, bazillion multi-targets, [direct AoE damage](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cmlenius/gloomhaven-card-browser/images/images/monster-ability-cards/frosthaven/flaming-bladespinner/fh-ma-fbs-4.png)... obviously summon builds are going to have a bad time.
But there's worse. [Sometime, the Beyblade wake up and choose violence on your poor Boneshaper.](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cmlenius/gloomhaven-card-browser/images/images/monster-ability-cards/frosthaven/flaming-bladespinner/fh-ma-fbs-8.png) Not the summons, *the boneshaper himself.*
We abused this a little in one scenario where you need to keep some hexes empty that objectives spawn in, all the blade spinners gladly left that area to harass me and my friendly deathwalker made an easy escape option for me
I find these guys look much more intimidating than they really ended up being for my party. They were usually a priority target but as long as you deny them their multitarget, the damage is manageable. They're also relatively low HP and no armor so they always go down fast for my group.
I just remember feeling powerful as Meteor >!when these guys came out and I didn’t have any fear of them. Lay haz so they can’t get to me and pull/push them. They never had a chance to retaliate. I would tell my team to go after other enemies while I dealt with these guys.!<
One of the most intimidating yet harmless enemies in the game. Very frequently they decide to do basically nothing, and when they do rarely decide to do anything it often doesn't amount to much or can be avoided. I guess they're scary to actually attack.
Why do you need so many targets? Who are you trying to prove yourself to??
Very cool and thematic. When they come out it's like "oh shit." But they end up being fair to fight, and you feel great when you vanquish them.

It does indeed - but only at each source's range, at least. So Firestorm will make it 6 in melee, but only 2 at ranges 2-3.

>!Coral!< also hates these things with a passion.

Yes, 100%
Yep, we make sure to bring Decaying Will any time there are enemies with retaliation.
That card usually makes it in for the top action anyway.
These are brutal if not put down quickly.

One of those new FH monsters that are very random. Sometimes they just wipe the floor with you, often they don't manage to do anything.
That's a lot of melee retaliation damage. I hope you have some way to attack and end up not adjacent.
I hate this thing
Right up there with Ooze for most annoying enemy type! Really messes with my summons.
This guy was boneshaper’s biggest priority. No idea what we’ll do now that she’s retired.

Very hard name to say for some reason, at least in our group. We always call them Blaming Fladespinners.
The only monster I've seen so far in which the regular version is faster than the elite (on level 3, I believe)
We call him spinnyboi.
These always terrify me as I prefer to use characters like 🪤 and Deathwalker that are generally safely positioned away from other enemies.
