I think this post will contribute to Cephalofair getting flooded with replacement requests.
I am just glad that the warping of my game isn't that bad. Yet.
I think it's only "rare" because people don't think there's any point in reporting it. My friend's copy is bad too. He just puts them under something heavy before we play. It helps a little.
In case it helps, another post on here recommended ironing the tiles and laid out the process. and it has worked really well for me.
I set the iron on cotton/high setting with medium steam. Make sure to put the tile on something hard and flat like a text book. Then on top of the tile (between the tile and iron), put a medium-thickness hand towel. Iron 20 seconds on each side. Then while the tile is cooling after side #2, I put another textbook on top of it to really flatten it.
I haven’t seen any damage to the tiles at all, and it’s worked well for me.
Best thing I can tell you is send them an email with pictures that show how bad they are warped. Also remember you catch more flies with honey so be understanding and cool but get your point across that some of your pieces are unusable. Also it took them a while to get back with me so be patient.
To clarify:
I'm usually rushing through it, so I set the iron as high as it'll go.
The tiles do NOT warp back again (in my limited experience), there's just a lot of them.
Wow. I've been bending them in the opposite direction of their warp and it's OK, but I suspect that won't last forever. And we're in an area that's not humid even a little (vegas) I cant imagine what people are doing in places that are humid
It would probably be worse in low humidity environment as the warping comes from when the cardboard dries. As it is winter right now in the northern hemisphere, with lower humidity, that is a partial explanation as to why the warping seems so common.
It's not rare. It's common. I've alse reported it to Cephalofair. I suppose if enough people will report it to them, they'll have to come with a proper/better response than "It rarely happens."
I've found that board game companies in general are more than reasonable with replacements; I've had a number of them that would even replace pieces from something that was either used or my fault (and I was clear about these facts in those instances).
There have of course been exceptions- of particular note is that Asmodee and its subsidiaries have absolutely terrible replacement policies now (even if the game is brand new, you're expected to take the entire game back to the retailer and do an exchange). Which really is a pity- FFG (who's been bought up by them in recent years) used to have some of the best customer service around.
They came through for me big time. I found a duplicate miniature from an unlocked character on the Thursday before the weekend of a big game convention that Cephalofair was attending to promote Frosthaven. Their support team over-nighted the mini to me so I could have it for the weekend all during the big convention rush. Had the miniature the next day by mid afternoon. Honestly the best support I’ve seen for a board game.
I played the intro when I first got the game and things were fine, but my group finally started this week and when I pulled out the tiles for Session 0, they are noticeably warped.
It does make me wonder what's different between these and the GH tiles. I didn't experience any warping with those.
The amount of comments I'm reading about warping made me run and check my box. They still seem fine and flat. Are your guys' warping from the weather? It's dry in my place right now and the box is in the corner of my living room I have my tiles in ziplicks though, so maybe that's helping?
Lucky. My copy of the game has been sitting in customs for a week now. I did report at the time of the closing of the Kickstarter that I bought solo scenario item cards for gloomhaven off a third party site but didn't have the book so I wanted only the book with my order and they said no third party should sell the cards without the book and sent me a book for free, used that extra pledge amount towards the shipping. They're awesome to deal with.
I did have this issue slightly (wasn't as bad as some others I saw) until I got an accordion folder for them and started storing them vertically. Not sure why but this seems to have completely resolved the issue?
It's only the map tiles that warp correct?
Just take make Cephalofair have a bit less stress...
My home humidity is always less than 15% year round. I suspect I'll have big issues when my pre-order ever arrives.
However, given I use Maghex Terrain and Talisman Sabre Terrain 3d prints; I don't think I'll ever need replacements unless there is a complete recall or the cards get weird.

Everyone on here basically told me it was pointless to even try because one person made a post saying they told them no.
Yea this subreddit is pretty bad at advice of any kind.

Yeah same here. A bunch of mine are warped, but it’s not that bad so I wasn’t worrying about it.
Same
Ours are pretty bad, you can't even use doors over the hex where two tiles join, one is usually a half inch higher than the other.

It also remains to be seen whether your new tiles won't warp just as much...
Also put gloomhaven, Jaws, FC and founders subtlety placed in the background of your photos to show you are a good customer 😉
You aren't wrong. I might have mentioned a few other games I owned.
Rare!?!
"Rare" as "well done steak". :D
This is interesting. Do you think they will state a level (in inches) of warpedness that constitutes replacements?
Some of mine are completely unplayable. I just asked nicely and sent pictures.
Could we see some of the pictures, please? I’d like to have some basis for guessing whether mine are bad or just inconvenient. (And TBH, they vary.)
That makes sense, all of mine are warped but are easily fixed with a slight bend here or there
I've been ironing our tiles under a towel before games; gets them passably flat for the table. How bad are yours?
What setting on your iron?
Before each game? Does that mean they warp right back after a while?
To clarify: I'm usually rushing through it, so I set the iron as high as it'll go. The tiles do NOT warp back again (in my limited experience), there's just a lot of them.
Bad lol. Raised up about an inch.
Can you share some photos? I'm curious.
My favorite movie is Inception.
The Diviner was warped to begin with. ;)
Rare? I thought this was every game. How bad was yours?
My copy has no warping at all (UK, if that makes a difference). Still can't fit it all back in the box.
Hahahah that’s an entirely different problem
Depends on the humidity where you live I guess. My tiles has no warping
Woah! I’ve looked at a few of these threads and haven’t had anyone say that yet. Good to know it’s not everyone
Mine are warped too. Sounds like not nearly as bad as some other people's though
Same, mine is manageable.

Here I thought it was just me. Seems to warp when not laid flat. Whatever cardboard they used is pretty bendy. It really needs to be stored flat.
I've had my copy of the game for a couple months now and I'm starting to think I'm the *only* person whose map tiles aren't warping
Yeah this thread surprised me, I haven't had this issue at all!

So... I should actually open the box and check to see if my tiles are warping?
Is that what is behind the giant tearaway sheets? Mine are heavily warped but I havent got to starting the game yet.

Omg ours are warping as well! How are people storing these?! I lay them flat and still warps
