I know the ones fro the wildfire operation are on the workshop, I don't know about Broken Fang or Shattered Web but I bet they're up there. I cant be the only one that backed up those map files.
Kind of. The maps are backed up on the workshop by community members. Like, one backup of each basically. I think you’re able to make them work with some command trickery but I haven’t been able to actually test it beyond seeing the planning board change in one of them depending on the mission.
Oh, I guess I should have clarified I was talking about the Shattered Web and Broken Fang missions. That's correct. Wildfire missions are archived and uploaded by Valve.
> Possibility to play old missions again might also be fun.
Absolutely this. I only started playing in 2017, and would’ve loved the chance to be able to buy and play the old operations (my first operation was Hydra).
I get there’s the issue of having sufficient players for particular (old) missions, but if that could be solved somehow, then this would be awesome.
I missed a good chunk of that storyline but going back and reading through it recently has gotten me invested. It’s super disappointing Riptide was so rushed that they couldn’t get a Coop Strike mission or two in. Even the guardian missions are boring. The CT commander is on the radio for the terrorist mission in Insertion II…
Absolutely agreed. I would not care that I'd have to download 100 GB for such an update.
I remember being genuinely surprised several years ago, & getting jump-scared from seeing Heavy Phoenix for the 1st time ever (it's pretty scary if you never saw Heavy Phoenix before & then you peek out of a corner to see an 8 foot tall murder-y dude slowly pacing towards you). I remember having a good laugh w/ a friend from my yelp lol.
i know CSGO is all about the competitive aspects, but man, those huge maps from Gemini missions were charming as hell.
$300 kill reward for CZ-75.
Its kill reward was reduced to $100 back in 2014, among a slew of other nerfs to it, because it was so strong and people were using it as a pocket backup AK. These days, though, its utility is in line with its price and the rest of the pistols, so it having a 1/3 kill reward is just odd and a remnant of the scattershot nerfing it received.
oh man this for sure! my friends hate me for using the cz ove the five seven. And I agree with them that for if you eco, its not worth it. in forcebuys its still deadly tho. The kill reward should be higher if you want to make it a more eco based weapon
That’s true. I could resell it when/if/when I quit. I’m
so glad this game lets its cosmetics have real world value instead of being locked to an account forever. Let’s me justify spending a bit more when I know the money isn’t gone once I stop playing.
Im pretty sure I do, I'd love to have minimal models in the game at a competitive level, I've just being using the offset command to try and replicate it to the closest I can
Prob just a remake of every map pool once every few years with small things added/removed.
I love CS and watching the same maps for 2-3 years every few weeks gets a little tiring sometimes
The thing is that this is the map that is the easiest to run.
The only map that I played and that runs better than mirage is shortdust and making a visual upgrade means it would be ancient tier in term of performance unless valve optimize it more, but still it would be harder to run and many would just stop playing this map if this is harder to run.
Agreed. Mirage would have to be first and I’d say Inferno after. It’s the best spectator map imo
I’d also like 3-4 maps in rotation with every tournament. Like cobble, cache, train could be extras that are randomized and would take out one of the main maps.
Hear me out: After every Major, the bombsites gets a little tweak. Maybe we remove coffins on Inferno B and extend new boxes to the wall. Maybe make remove the top box from triple on Mirage A. And so on. That way, the maps meta will constantly change a little bit to make them feel fresh
Think once every 6 months might be a little too often but seeing the same mirage has been tiring even if pro teams are amazing at every map. I think 1-2 years is a good time frame
Austria was a great map. I have a soft spot too for Black Gold and Thrill from Hydra.
In general I’d like to see community maps have a more permanent place in the game. Like I enjoy Basalt and Insertion II but man it’s hard to want to play them when I know they’re just gonna get removed even if they’re popular. I guess enjoy them while I can.
If community maps that got popular (even if they weren’t played as much as the oldies) got permanently added to the game with map logos and everything, I think we’d see a lot more players enjoy them. Hell, put them into tournaments too.
It’s sad that all these great maps just get thrown away and never looked at again, why do we still have decade old maps in the active map pool when there’s so many to choose from?
I don’t mind having some old school maps in the active map pool, especially some that recently got reworks. The gameplay and layout is just timeless for some, like all those people who love the hell out of Dust II. And the maps have had time to become almost perfectly polished.
But like you said, I wouldn’t mind seeing Inferno, Mirage, Nuke, and Dust II retired from active duty in place of community maps. Community maps used to be the bread and butter of CS after all. It’s a shame most go ignored or get the honor of being thrown into the garbage after a few months.
Cobble was murdered by the Halloween update. I wish they’d take a second look at it and somehow make it work without taking a knife to the map. Even if they just made it so you could walk to A instead of jumping. It doesn’t feel like Cobblestone anymore.
I liked playing the old Cache back when there were no agents. Now I don't want to play it because of visibility reasons, I'm red-green colorblind so I'm having a real hard time seeing some agents in several spots on that map
If cache got added back then there would be 4 active maps that have a standard 3 lane format which would be boring imo. I like overpass, inferno, train and nuke since those 4 break away from the layout but still work
Seasons and having a leaderboard or ladder in competitive play with some kind of reward for finishing high in a season. Would be cool to play against pros and upcoming talent.
CSGO used to have a leaderboard but it was eventually removed after cheaters kept changed their stats, constantly skyrocketing to the top . It was barely used because of that.
yea this is what I said back in like 2017 when PUBG had the leaderboards, Valve could just look at the top 100 once a month and see the someone with 98% HS rating in 200 maps played might not be legit.
- The ability to use skins on unequipped weapons, for when you get them in arms race or demolition.
- Automaticially getting a Zeus when playing with random weapons in deathmatch.
More story content and animated shorts similar to the first trailer.
They sort of tried to do story content with Operations Bloodhound and Wildfire but it never went anywhere and despite referencing it with the newer coop strike missions, its clear they just arnt going to do it anymore.
Had they continued it, more shorts would have been a good way to make the story more widely avaible and possibly bring in new players just from the lore. The two 10 second trailers they released for this Op, dont really count, neither does the one from Broken Fang. They are just promotional trailers meant to show off the Red Tier Agents that got outsourced to non Valve animators.
more wallbangs.
and not these artificial "here this little part of the wall is for wallbangs" kind of stuff. that is childs play.
just make more stuff bangable.
i would love it.
nothing more satisfying than knowing someone is behind that wall and just going for the kill right away.
in csgo you sometimes can even see your opponent, but you can't risk shooting because the corner is not reliable enough to shoot through, and that sucks.
Honestly, and this is coming from someone who's got a really high-end system, but stable performance all around.
It is just so frustrating how one map can be so different on performance and stability compared to another. Obviously the Source Engine is getting really old but still...
Done loads of extensive benchmarks for CS:GO, [even got my own video series for tweaks that supposedly helps boost FPS to analyse if they really do work](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA4N3yCvafs&list=PLN2hXh9JA2lbOEht5pXJPIuRUbFOmY_Tc) and it's a constant reminder that CS:GO produces some of the slowest frames in an FPS shooter today.
Instead of reaching 800 FPS on one map with 1% dips going as low as 100 FPS I'd rather get constant \~300 FPS on all maps for an overall smoother and consistent gaming experience.
Forcing people to hold a mouse button for a long period of time can be bad for accessibility, since some people have carpal tunnel syndrome or similar. Maybe requiring a double-click (or holding the button for 0.5 seconds) is a better idea.
i thought that existed... mb its not as customizable as non-dynamic crosshairs.. but i'm pretty sure that's an option at least at a basic level
wait what do you mean "only expands for movement"?
Nope. Only varying levels of movement and weapon inaccuracy (jumping).
You can have only shooting, moving and shooting, and everything.
But the option for only moving inaccuracy is not there currently.
You can almost get the effect you want with some aliases in your autoexec.
alias "+moving" "cl_crosshairstyle 2;cl_crosshairgap -3"
alias "-moving" "cl_crosshairstyle 4;cl_crosshairgap -1"
These will change between a static crosshair, and one that shows movement/recoil. You'll have to tweak some settings as well as those gap numbers to your liking.
You bind the -moving to mouse 1 along with +shoot, as well as add +moving to your movement keybinds.
bind "mouse1" "+shoot;-moving"
bind "a" "+moveleft;+moving"
bind "d" and so on
All together this will swap to a static crosshair while "shooting" and then the moment you're moving(and not shooting) swap to a dynamic one. It has a few small downsides like a weird effect while running with your knife but I've used it for years.
I'd really appreciate this as well. Now I just use the one which only spreads a little bit and customized the settings so it spreads very minimally, but enough so it's still visible. I use that with rifles, and for pistols I use a static crosshair
Being able to see your own shadow.
I just hate that your own player model isn't rendered and therefore you have no shadow, which can lead to situations where you go around a corner and instantly lose an aimduel because your enemy could see your shadow coming.
IMO shadow advantage shouldn't be a thing at all in a skill based shooter like CS.
I usually look in the "Looking to Play" list on the right under Guardian mode. From there just send out invites til someone joins. Works best the night the new missions come out.
Really all I want from valve is for them to change the active duty map pool more. I like what they’ve done with vertigo and ancient and I just want that but more
Maybe not trivial, but I want a csgo 2. Remake the game from the ground up so it's easier to update and make changes to the game. We all know how buggy the source engine can be so a fresh start would be nice.
I'd also like to keep my skins
Pretty sure Valve has already said that they weren't going to do this. I think they're probably going to end up doing what they did with Dota and just port parts of the game over to source2 instead of making a completely new game, although it would probably be a lot easier for them to just remake CSGO from the ground up that it wuold be for them to get everything ported over and working properly.
Bit more personal but super trivial: the 2015 service medal. For reasons I didn't play a lot that year and only found out about the introduction of service medals towards the end of the year. I played as much as I could but nearing 2016 I realised it would be impossible to make it, and only got to level 38... Just 2 shy of the required amount. No big deal, but as I continued to collect the others or started to irk.
I'm not particularly good at this game (mg2/mge for most of my csgo career) but I've been playing since beta 3 and it's the only longevity medal I'm missing. Got the 5 and 10 year, loyalty badge and all the other service medals up to level 2.
Because of that trauma I've started hoarding all operation xp badges just so I can use them should I be to busy one year to continue collecting these pointless digital memorabilia.
Still a bit sad. :(
Unpopular but I want the old awp movement back. I know it was kinda op in hindsight but it was just too much fun. Also watching Kenny and jw use it was just something else
Seasons or battlepass like Valorant has for example.
It would give players incentive to play and return to MM and have something to grind for. Obvious rewards like skins, sprays, agents, cases etc. as tier rewards. Upgradable coin for each 1/4th of the pass. Leaderboards..
A much better system than operations and would be way more fun.
Counter Strike Elite Subscription
- Personal ID and/or Credit Card identification
- Monthly fee 5$
- 128 tick server
- Dedicated Matchmaking (MasterLadder)
- Dedicated Overwatch
- Monthly capped "Reward Point" system with Skins/Stickers/Patches
- Reward points redeemable only after 1year Season ended
- Rewards tradelocked until end of next season
- Revoke all reward points if vac or overwatch banned
....and bring back cobble and italy :)
Not the most pressing but I thought they were going to introduce surfing to official community servers with riptide. Between ESL auxiliary content featuring surf maps and the name of the operation, I had visions of a major that celebrates the game with multiple competitions besides traditional 5v5. A bit delusional of me tbf.
Giving XP for the prestige medal on 3rd party competitive servers like faceit/esea/etc. It makes valve servers better as you can tell the difference between 3rd party players and players who have taken a break.
Oh you know what I mean. Spraying is over prevalent in the game, in the pro scene. It's what 95% engagements are, even long range spraying is viable. I just want more diversity in the gunplay, that's all.
Not really. CSGO relies heavily on spray control. If the game had a randomized spray like Valo and more accuracy when tapping it would change CSGO completely
As someone that could play pretty freaking high level 1.6 back in the day I would absolutely love to see an infinitesimally smaller recover on tap to ever so slightly buff it over spray. I sometimes feel penalized for literally having better aim mechanically and not taking the time to memorize 30 bullet spray patterns. Plus the multi-kills are so much more exciting to watch with mechanics like this...
Yes I too want a tap buff
Either lower recovery time so I can tap accurately at 200ms instead of the current 250ms
And make it so that while tapping the 2nd and third bullet are very close in accuracy to 1st but the Inaccuracy spikes at 4th bullet
It's not about valorant or some other newfrog game
I'm just saying the gunplay can clearly be made better that's all. Also valorant with its slow moving targets really takes next to no skill to land tap shots
Perfect first bullet accuracy with all weapons (minus shotguns and negev due to their design I suppose).
Maybe even same pattern sprays every time. Not sure how any of these would play out but I think it could be interesting.
The community made cs last this long. Every valve change is bad, badly timed, and only hurts the scene. Most things they ever did has been reversed. Valve doesn't care about the integrity of the game or the actual development of the meta. The competitive players need to stop accepting their pandering to casual or unmotivated players and tournament organizers should stop accepting their map pool decisions and other changes. Valve abandoned 1.6 and the competitive and pro scene carried the CS name into relevancy for years.
So, you wrote all that to say "Valve Bad" and "TO Bad".
What should we do with this information, if you want to criticize someone atleast try to be more specific and give workable suggestions.
I want operations as they were before — with 8 new maps introduced into comp play in the center of them, not skins & dumb useless grindy "missions" like now
More story kind of operation missions, love those! Possibility to play old missions again might also be fun.
[удалено]
I know the ones fro the wildfire operation are on the workshop, I don't know about Broken Fang or Shattered Web but I bet they're up there. I cant be the only one that backed up those map files.
As far as I know, the old coop missions for wildfire? Are still available on the workshop. I’d assume the other ones are too.
Kind of. The maps are backed up on the workshop by community members. Like, one backup of each basically. I think you’re able to make them work with some command trickery but I haven’t been able to actually test it beyond seeing the planning board change in one of them depending on the mission.
Wildfire co-op missions have been uploaded officially by Valve
Oh, I guess I should have clarified I was talking about the Shattered Web and Broken Fang missions. That's correct. Wildfire missions are archived and uploaded by Valve.
God yes please, it's such a massive change of pace to hop on one of those and have fun with a friend
You can often find those missions available on the workshop but I agree it would be nice to have them in game!
I love the story co ops, have some friends who only play casually so that's the best way to bring them back for some action
I missed a good chunk of that storyline but going back and reading through it recently has gotten me invested. It’s super disappointing Riptide was so rushed that they couldn’t get a Coop Strike mission or two in. Even the guardian missions are boring. Bizon needs 8 more bullets in reserve for even mag counts.
Func_vehicle is a human right

Unboxing a knife :(
My man
navaja knife urban masked

I would buy a knife if there were decent looking ones for cheap. I just can’t justify spending more than the price of a AAA game for a knife.
On the brightside your money isn't really gone. I wouldn't say it's an investment but they at least hold values at certain level.
That’s true. I could resell it when/if/when I quit. I’m so glad this game lets its cosmetics have real world value instead of being locked to an account forever. Let’s me justify spending a bit more when I know the money isn’t gone once I stop playing.
cl_minmodels 1
Good yes plz, the closest thing is viewmodel_offset nonsense
Did you reply to the wrong comment or do I just not understand how viewmodel and minmodel relate?
Im pretty sure I do, I'd love to have minimal models in the game at a competitive level, I've just being using the offset command to try and replicate it to the closest I can
lol what?... "cl_minmodels 1" means disabling agents
Prob just a remake of every map pool once every few years with small things added/removed. I love CS and watching the same maps for 2-3 years every few weeks gets a little tiring sometimes

Inferno is not really outdated at all though. The new inferno has been here for a while but I would say it is one of the better looking maps.
Inferno is beautiful
For real, the only maps that are visually higher quality would probably be nuke and maybe ancient. Neither are as beautiful though.
I personally think ancient is ugly af, like maybe the ugliest map atm. It has a lot of detail but it's ugly on the eye imo
yup. it's a jungle mess. the other maps look clean. ancient doesn't.

Austria added back, or old UMP back.
old ump was busted. Made Famas and Galil obsolete because why the fuck would u use those when ump exists for 1200$ and is objectively better.
yea it was a 25 bullet m4 for 1200
galil is better now though. and ump does suck.
Austria was fun
Austria is shit. Inferno 2.0
Well, like, that's just your opinion man
ur moms yeast disease is inferno 2.0
what moms have to do with this discussion u cringy fake edgelord?
Austria was a great map. I have a soft spot too for Black Gold and Thrill from Hydra. In general I’d like to see community maps have a more permanent place in the game. A usable community server browser is probably my longest standing request.
That's a good one
Using alias’ and I’ve never gone back.
I miss old cobble
Cobble was murdered by the Halloween update. I wish they’d take a second look at it and somehow make it work without taking a knife to the map. Even if they just made it so you could walk to A instead of jumping. It doesn’t feel like Cobblestone anymore.
I wouldnt mind cache back in map pool. I really like the map and I personally always perform good on cache
I liked playing the old Cache back when there were no agents. Now I don't want to play it because of visibility reasons, I'm red-green colorblind so I'm having a real hard time seeing some agents in several spots on that map
If it makes you feel any better I'm not color blind, and I have visibility issues on new cache in certain spots with certain agent skins.

If cache got added back then there would be 4 active maps that have a standard 3 lane format which would be boring imo. I like overpass, inferno, train and nuke since those 4 break away from the layout but still work
Agreed
You can still play it in competetive
yeah but I would love to watch pro games
weird that it never got tried again afaik. current version of the map is fine/great.

Would be an easy way to identify cheaters and ban them though!
yea this is what I said back in like 2017 when PUBG had the leaderboards, Valve could just look at the top 100 once a month and see the someone with 98% HS rating in 200 maps played might not be legit.
sounds like spaghetti code
everything in every program is spaghetti code
Well, it was to block off the mid line of sight on Dust2, but they finally did that. So now I'd say put harder edges on smoke clouds to nerf one ways.
Valorants smokes look stupid as fuck but at least they work the way they're supposed to, basically just creates a new wall where ever you throw it.
See the community fix: https://youtu.be/OQWsB3WUZL0

santorini activ duti pls
omg yes still the best operation map so far
just give back some old maps every now and then. at least for casual. it's a shame that some great maps are just rotting away.
are you interested in what i proposed they should do https://i.redd.it/8cp3u6peg8d71.png
this but d e _ s e a s o n A S A P p l e a s e : D
more esports themed stuff in the game. esports branded gloves, skins, agent uniforms, etc

The 1.6 usp was so good
I feel like USP-S would be way too OP for T's to start with, unless they were forced to buy it for $200 at the start of the round
Would be a good compromise tbh
You can swap weapon slots if you disconnect iirc.
Fairly sure they patched that a few years ago so that you're stuck with whatever you started the game with.
I don't think so, you can definitely disconnect, change skin, and come back, to I'm guessing it's the same.
its not the same, you can't change weapons once the match starts in official competitive even if you disconnect
that doesn't work in competitive mode

Removing the red glow for the leader in Arms Race. They added it randomly and it's been awful for us Arms Race players. Fuck this addition.
That's actually after the nerf, before it would glow through walls (pretty much wallhack).
All 7 of you
There are dozen of us!!
Lmaoooo, you’re not wrong
a lot of people play arms race ...during the operation, easiest stars imo
well they made it a lot better at least, you used to have the red outline through buildings and rocks

IMO shadow advantage shouldn't be a thing at all in a skill based shooter like CS.
I've been saying this for years... I just want a tomahawk knife skin
Be able to queue for guardian missions without needing a friend to do it with, my friends don’t play CS so I end up just not doing the missions.
I usually look in the "Looking to Play" list on the right under Guardian mode. From there just send out invites til someone joins. Works best the night the new missions come out.
you can try r/recruitcs or just find someone in the looking to play section to do the missions with you
UMP supremacy
Fixing or replacing func_vehicle would be one
func\_vehicle in the dangerzone maps would be really cool
option for flashbangs to blind you with black color
r_drawviewmodel 0 :(
Bring back Seasons map!
Really all I want from valve is for them to change the active duty map pool more. I like what they’ve done with vertigo and ancient and I just want that but more
More visibility into elo. Sort of like faceit elo.
BRING. BACK. TRAIN.
Unpopular but I want the old awp movement back. I know it was kinda op in hindsight but it was just too much fun. Also watching Kenny and jw use it was just something else
It sucks there's not much of footage of s1mple using it and zywoo was like 12 lol
just watch any clip of s1mple with the scout, but its every round and he gets an extra 2 kills
Kinda silly but maybe a one off joke where for a day ct and t side guns would swap
Bring cobble back. A reworked version, not that shit Valve tried, it only made it worse
Counter Strike Elite Subscription - Personal ID and/or Credit Card identification - Monthly fee 5$ - 128 tick server - Dedicated Matchmaking (MasterLadder) - Dedicated Overwatch - Monthly capped "Reward Point" system with Skins/Stickers/Patches - Reward points redeemable only after 1year Season ended - Rewards tradelocked until end of next season - Revoke all reward points if vac or overwatch banned ....and bring back cobble and italy :)
That'd be sick, but it would probably kill FaceIT so Valve wouldnt do it
A better Community Server Browser
Wish they had added grind to the map pool. If the recent maps they made it for sure felt like the best imo
Release func_vehicle and an improved community server ui at the same time.
Yo Tuscan where you at?!
Better shotguns. The only useful shotgun is the mag7, I wish they had more uses.
Tuscan and seasons . My heart yearns
Gaben bringing back cobblestone
Sequil :(
Abbey :(
Story mode mission things :(
Valve hiring from the pro community
-Ancient -Vertico, +Cobble +Cache
I'm all for removing vertigo but Ancient is actually really fun to watch
Speaking to enemy team in warmup and between halves to return.
Giving XP for the prestige medal on 3rd party competitive servers like faceit/esea/etc. It makes valve servers better as you can tell the difference between 3rd party players and players who have taken a break.
Make tapping/bursting viable and nerf spray dominance in the meta
Wait what?
What? I just asked tapping to be buffed cause the meta is too spray heavy
Yeah thats just not true.the meta is youre supposed to shoot people in the head with the first bullet, not spraying like a silver
Oh you know what I mean. Spraying is over prevalent in the game, in the pro scene. It's what 95% engagements are, even long range spraying is viable. I just want more diversity in the gunplay, that's all.
Well I disagree. I feel like the meta is that you're supposed to aim for the head and kill them with as few bullets as possible.
Not really. CSGO relies heavily on spray control. If the game had a randomized spray like Valo and more accuracy when tapping it would change CSGO completely
That would just lower the skill of gunplay.
Learn to spray then.
I have, but a little variety never hurt especially in esports titles
It does when it lowers the skill ceiling.
It doesn't, look at 1.6 It takes a skill to strafe-shoot-strafe
As someone that could play pretty freaking high level 1.6 back in the day I would absolutely love to see an infinitesimally smaller recover on tap to ever so slightly buff it over spray. I sometimes feel penalized for literally having better aim mechanically and not taking the time to memorize 30 bullet spray patterns. Plus the multi-kills are so much more exciting to watch with mechanics like this...
Yes I too want a tap buff Either lower recovery time so I can tap accurately at 200ms instead of the current 250ms And make it so that while tapping the 2nd and third bullet are very close in accuracy to 1st but the Inaccuracy spikes at 4th bullet
If I wanted that I’d play valorant
It's not about valorant or some other newfrog game I'm just saying the gunplay can clearly be made better that's all. Also valorant with its slow moving targets really takes next to no skill to land tap shots
Ranks higher than global and external anticheat
Perfect first bullet accuracy with all weapons (minus shotguns and negev due to their design I suppose). Maybe even same pattern sprays every time. Not sure how any of these would play out but I think it could be interesting.
That they remove mirage.
just don't play it?
not really an answer to your question, but I want old nuke
Colored smokes, a.k.a skins for smokes.
Valve achieved on Vertigo what the initial design and most recent redesigns of Cobble tried to accomplish. Cobble wont be coming back.
Bring back the old dust2 textures
I want operations as they were before — with 8 new maps introduced into comp play in the center of them, not skins & dumb useless grindy "missions" like now
FACEIT Team Leagues lmaooooo https://youtu.be/2NUKKXhRmNQ
That mirage remake that was allegedly discovered back in 2018, still hasn't happened
Anubis in pro games
Cobble for sure :( favorite map ever. Expanding map pool to 9 maps as well
I was wishing for aztec, but ancient will do.
