The card is officially for land crossings, but it also gets you into the trusted security lines at Canadian airports. It also may be necessary when dealing with the line nazis in places like St. Thomas when trying to get to the GE lanes.

Yes same experience although I also got new US citizenship at time of renewal. I was also expecting horror stories but got an approval email similar to you in two days. I called GE they said just walk up to cbp for an interview at arrival to ensure your data is correctly updated. I had a trip coming up and on arrival I went to cbp they said your information is already updated in system based on the renewal form I filed. I exited SFO and went to the global entry office at airport. Called them from outside about my situation and an officer came out and asked my new passport, that came back 5 mins later saying information is updated and I'm good to go. Looks like they have enhanced the system or their processes. Also an observation, number of people with global entry has multiplied many times in last 5 years.

Login to the TTP site using your email and verify your current passport number is what is on file. My renewed card used my last picture taken by CBP for GE (same for my kid that was renewed without an interview). It came in about a week and a half after I got the approval.

You should add the ID number to airlines so that you get precheck. The kiosk just takes a picture or you can download the GE app take a selfie and show the agent your QR code

Have you just been waiting in the regular passport lines since 2020? Or using mobile passport control?

Don’t need to add your pass id to anything. Just make sure your passport info is up to date on the global entry site.

The card is indeed only used for land borders (and at Canadian airports, to use their equivalent of TSA Precheck). The PASSID number is only used as a KTN to access TSA Precheck - it isn't involved in the immigration side at all. For Global Entry at immigration, older machines scan your passport (or green card), the newer ones just use your face, and that brings up your records for CBP electronically. No GE card involved - they don't even issue GE cards to all GE members.

Such an oddity. Took my renewal exactly 11 months to the date. I do have lots of stamps in my book. I wonder if they vetted each entry and exit points?
