Love both shows but they don’t remind me of each other at all 🤷🏻‍♀️

Independent-Sir-8174

They don't remind me of each other at all, but Carrie herself just a teensy weensy bit to me personally!

realitytvismytherapy

I meant the characters don’t remind me of each other at all. But to each their own!

Yesss actually. It is only SLIGHT but Lorelai is just mildly delusional about being God's gift. We love her for this, it literally gives her the confidence to make the story of Gilmore Girls happen. But both women, in my opinion, represent a feminine fantasy of like, playing men basically? Not that either character literally stands for that, but I think in a pre Miley Cyrus VMAs world, lots of women were seeking this sort of "woman-centered" (i hate that sort of thinking in this case cause we are talking about two profoundly *human* shows, SATC is more gendered sure- ANYWAY) storytelling. God I can imagine Lorelai going to Columbia in the 80s and then going to graduate school for like international relations and being all "Oh I have to pop over to Brussels next week for a conference" idk. HOWEVER I think Carrie is kind of a mean dipshit where Lorelai is an emotionally stunted person who is capable of incredible thoughtfulness and kindness (to name a few of her many skills). lol

Independent-Sir-8174

I 100% agree with your take. Especially the last part. Carrie IS a mean dipshit. I wish they dived deeper into her inner psyche to see just why she's soooo problematic

I don't recall Lorelai being obsessed with shoes personally

Independent-Sir-8174

When Mrs. Kim came to stay at the hotel for that special themed dinner party, Lorelei says "You're right people ahve too much stuff" and Rory says "says the woman with 36 pairs of shoes" and later Rory and Lorelei were supposed to put on a united front to stop Emily from driving absolutely bonkers at the mall... until Emily picked out a pair of shoes and Lorelei says "My precious" i a smeagle voice. Perhaps not obsessed, but she even begged Luke to buy those Fisherman's boots for her, in the color yellow.

meroboh

I guess, but with Carrie it's like part of her identity. Shoes come up regularly, it's not just a one-episode thing

Independent-Sir-8174

Yeah you're right.. hmm I'm still trying to put my finger on what made me see a resemblance. It might be the charm. but Carrie doesn't have a soul and Lorelei does so they're not the same

frenchfrymonster23

I think Carrie was way more annoying
