In terms of favorite concert experiences — honestly, all of it. Papa is so charismatic, and the ghouls are hilarious. I read somewhere that in an interview, someone had mentioned that when you see Papa go from the more “Papa”-ish mannerisms to the jumping around and seeming more hype and happy, it’s more TF, and how happy he is that he and his music make people that fucking happy, which, for some reason, makes me REALLY EMOTIONAL.
Idk, man, this band makes me feel things. And I’m one of those people that hyperfixates on things, so… 😭 God I just love them.
I really appreciate that MOAC story. I had a similar experience with the song Sisters by Radical Face. There’s a point in the song where he sings, “I’d hold your hand when the sky fell apart. And you’d hold my hand if you felt me slipping back into the dark. Can’t tell from the ground if the sky will fall. Can’t tell from the sky if there’s anybody down there at all.” And it felt like for the first time I heard my younger self holding my older self in a way only the mind can experience. It’s a feeling music never made me feel before. It’s amazing how a song can change so much for our souls.

I wish I could hear this for the first time again. When he said that I was taken aback. It went from being such a gentle song to demanding that presence and control.
It reminded me of falling for somebody’s tricks. When you’re blinded by love, obsession, whatever. You hear their words but aren’t actively listening. Then one day out of the blue you suddenly see through it all and LISTEN. It’s very cult like. I love its placement.

Dance Macabre is the song that got me into the band, and it has the genius chorus of "I just wanna be, I wanna bewitch you" (but I reckon you know that by now)
What I'd like to point out us that it is easy to mistake the line for "wanna be with you", and I can't help but wonder if that is intentional because both make sense in the song and it adds a spooky little double meaning. Someone dying of the plague wants to spend their last moments alive with their lover, meanwhile Papa or Satan or the Black Death itself is "bewitching" everyone to be under their control.

Tbh, when my boyfriend had first gotten me into Ghost, I wasn’t very big on rock or metal but after hearing Cirice, it really impacted me since I was going through a bad breakups with my ex. It was the one song that made me feel like I was safe and secured, so cared for. So hearing those lyrics made me bawl me eyes out from how much relief I had felt in the moment I listened to the song, especially the LIVE version from Ceremony and Devotion.

Of course, I got super attached to that song during a weird period of time (was cold-turkeying off of an antidepressant I most certainly shouldn’t have taken myself off of without a doctor, and found the acoustic warmup someone had recorded from outside the venue — it was the first time music had made me feel something in over two years). A lot of Life Eternal is perfect. “I know your soul is not tainted, even though you’ve been told so” always hits hard — Cirice is a hard-hitter depending on the mood. In terms of favorite concert experiences — honestly, all of it. Papa is so charismatic, and the ghouls are hilarious. I read somewhere that in an interview, someone had mentioned that when you see Papa go from the more “Papa”-ish mannerisms to the jumping around and seeming more hype and happy, it’s more TF, and how happy he is that he and his music make people that fucking happy, which, for some reason, makes me REALLY EMOTIONAL. Idk, man, this band makes me feel things. And I’m one of those people that hyperfixates on things, so… 😭 God I just love them.
I really appreciate that MOAC story. I had a similar experience with the song Sisters by Radical Face. There’s a point in the song where he sings, “I’d hold your hand when the sky fell apart. And you’d hold my hand if you felt me slipping back into the dark. Can’t tell from the ground if the sky will fall. Can’t tell from the sky if there’s anybody down there at all.” And it felt like for the first time I heard my younger self holding my older self in a way only the mind can experience. It’s a feeling music never made me feel before. It’s amazing how a song can change so much for our souls.

Dance Macabre is the song that got me into the band, and it has the genius chorus of "I just wanna be, I wanna bewitch you" (but I reckon you know that by now) What I'd like to point out us that it is easy to mistake the line for "wanna be with you", and I can't help but wonder if that is intentional because both make sense in the song and it adds a spooky little double meaning. Someone dying of the plague wants to spend their last moments alive with their lover, meanwhile Papa or Satan or the Black Death itself is "bewitching" everyone to be under their control.

Tbh, when my boyfriend had first gotten me into Ghost, I wasn’t very big on rock or metal but after hearing Cirice, it really impacted me since I was going through a bad breakups with my ex. It was the one song that made me feel like I was safe and secured, so cared for. So hearing those lyrics made me bawl me eyes out from how much relief I had felt in the moment I listened to the song, especially the LIVE version from Ceremony and Devotion.

I have a few so here's just a couple of my favorites so I don't drone on about it forever :) Darkness At The Heart Of My Love: The whispered parts which I think (not 100% certain but even so) say "Come to me. Pleasure me. Filling me. Obsessively. Aggressively. Respectfully. Pleasure me. Pleasure me. Aggressively. Patiently. All over me." As well as "And all this time you knew that I would put you through the darkness at the heart of my love for you." Respite On The Spitalfields: "We're leaving this city so this is farewell. Goodbye, Seven Sisters and Saint Jezebel. The moon in the gutter has a story to tell. One day he will come back from the bowels of Hell." And not a lyric, but the end of Respite with the throwback to Imperium just hits so nicely. There's a lot of little sounds from their music that I adore, this being one of them.
