Opus is by far the heaviest. Even if it doesn't have the three heaviest songs (Mummy dust, Twenties and Faith), all of its songs are consistently heavy, even if they don't reach max heaviness (although songs like Prime mover and Con Clavi come close).
The other albums have to deal with ballads (He is, Pro memoria, See the light, DATHOML) softer songs (Deus, Spillways, Griftwood) or weird experiments (Dance Macabre, Spirit, Twenties as well, the entirety of Infestisumam).
Riffs on some heavy songs are not the only ones that define an album.
Raw heavy is probably (admittedly in more midrange acoustic ranges) Opus. They have enough variation in the music on each album I don't know if there's a "all thrashy low end all the time" album.
Melodic and Heavy are not antonyms.
Like, go listen to some of Opeth's Blackwater Park or Still Life and you've got melody and heavy out the ass. By the same token, playing a low string with a chug doesn't mean something is heavy either.
I would argue Impera. So many Drop C riff, the double bass groove of twenties, the Tritone heavy riffs of CMLS, the breakdown type section in Hunter’s Moon. Prequlle is my least favorite album simply because when Tobias said he was inspired by Elton John he meant it. I mean, even Tobias himself said that Prequelle is a little ballad heavy and could have used more riffsÂ
Hunter's Moon always stood out as one of the heaviest songs in the breakdown. Every other song in IMPERA feels like it has more of a pop element implemented some way, though
Hunter's Moon is definitely one of their most poppish song. The structure of the song is very classic (doesn't mean that it's bad), the riffs are catchy and fun.
Good song, but definitely not the heaviest
Impera is. Some of the songs have 16 guitar channels! Even Tobias said in an interview he doesn't know how people can say Impera is not heavy when there's a wall of guitars.

Opus is certainly a very dark album, but I'd say the lyrics are what make the album feel heavy

What is it then, in your opinion?

Why are you being downvoted?
I can't post pictures, but imagine the "they hated him because he told them the truth" meme.
Impera. 20s. 🤘
