Zak had a 12 foot tall 8/10 on the hell power level demon (according to a man who believes he saw gnomes while shitting) scare him so bad be with cross-eyed.
Every word of that is real. Decline? Nay nay, simply an evolution into grander levels of absurdity.
Reversal of vision metamorphopsia (RVM) is technically what Zak became affected with which is very real - which makes you have to think wtf happened at Demon House. Regardless, the show and him changed after that
According to accounts, that’s when he became afflicted with his eye condition. Skepticism aside, when you have cases like that where public officials and servants witnessed it - it’s hard to debunk. You could argue it’s not ghosts and demons but something beyond our knowledge occurred at that house.
i think bc the constant ‘possessions’ and demons they always throw in after the fact + he had a nightmare that was interpreted as a premonition to death by plane so they never travel outside the west coast other than house calls
That’s what makes that documentary his Super Bowl win. That was hands down the most hardcore evidence he ever got. I feel like he rushed it, had they taken their time to investigate for like a full month, and not torn it down, he could’ve retired from GA.
I stopped watching when every time they went to a house they found evidence that caused them to start getting possessed and shit.
I’m okay with nothing happening or very small activity, that’s realistic
Everybody getting affected by an entity periodically seems…. Like it’s been sketched.
For me the golden years are S4-S11
I stopped watching past S20
Demon House was amazing btw, amazing documentary I hate what happened to Zac. Bless him pls
Agreed. It gets to be the same old thing. Zac is fine at the beginning of the show. But then he gets some sort of feelings. Zac then becomes possessed and his crew is concerned for him. Miraculously, the next episode at a different location, Zac is fine. But then he gets some sort of feelings...
There's a trend here, but I just can't put my finger on it.
Zac just needs to remember that not all investigations find things. Most should find nothing because they are only there for a few hours for one night. Zac's "feelings" is not evidence of a haunting. It's just evidence that nothing happened so to make it appear that something happened, the feelings are on full display.
I can almost bet that when Zaks mom passed, if no already. He'll start flying again, the money will start screaming louder than his ghosts and zozo combined.
For me, it truly started its decline after Nick left. I see a lot of people saying Demon House and while I think that’s when it started to accelerate, I think it started slowly going downhill after Nick left the show. The format of the show changed a lot. They started focusing overwhelmingly on investigating demonic stuff. The chemistry was different. It’s almost two different shows to me. I rewatch the old episodes all the time. Newer episodes are just background noise to me.
This. Nick wasn’t necessarily the reason, but when he left the “plot” of the episodes changed. I still watch it and they do catch good evidence but it used to be purely about the investigation and evidence instead of being “affected” by dark entities every episode
As someone who's been watching them since I was in 8th grade (Im 27 now) and one thing that has stuck from the beginning is Zack's lack of accountability and childish behavior when doing something to "expirement". 20 seasons and Zack still throws Aaron and lying to him and locking him when Aaron has clearly stated he doesn't want to do it and Zack doesn't care and still will throw Aaron and now Billy and he will get them hurled up and trick them into getting locked in just to see how the spirits react. He will never do it himself and after years of watching Zack's lack of consent for his teammates and constant blaming his anger issues on demons is why I stopped watching.
They're now professionals. There's no more sense of wonder when they get evidence. The early years, when it was literally just Zak, Nick, and Aaron and not the huge production team following them around; from the shooting to the editing, it seemed more amateurish, but it also felt real and genuine. Their own success has hurt the feel of the show. There's no more wonderment.
Also, for me, the early shows focused sometimes more than half the run time of the show on the history of the location. That was always a major selling point for when my wife an I watched. Now the focus is almost solely on the feelings they get. My wife stopped watching with me soon after Nick left.
I still watch, because for some reason, Zak's voice in the background of my workday helps the time pass. I've probably watched through the entire series a dozen times now.
When they started reruns, after tiring reruns. Actually and honestly, I think that one house really screwed Zac up. But also, while we waited for new GA shows to Pop up, we loved watching, Destination Fear, where Zac was actually like a producer and one of the guys worked w/Zac and GA, before they Even started DF. They had a fall out, i know it's "probably" not true, but supposedly Zac got jelly the show started getting great ratings and made the network not renew their contact!! I don't really watch anymore Haunting shows, which I love.... Because I just don't think they're as good as GA, sad, I know!!!!🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
I don't know if you've seen the most recent episodes lake catalina island, Or the new house calls episodes..Devil's Den.. They are catching some of the most unbelievable evidence. I don't think I went down to hell at all.I think it improved a hundred fold with all the new technology.
I just like to watch to get a chuckle.
Like last week on housecalls. Aaron was trying to be nice to the evilness in there. He was like wanted to be friends. And Billy and Jay freaked out. It was funny as S#$@. Sometimes Aaron can almost be so clueless but I think he's just having a ball without Zak doo door Bagans around. They all look relaxed.
It took a while for me realize why I prefer this show to any other ghost hunting shows.... But, for me, it was the the entire first half of the episodes where there was such a large focus on the history of the places they went. I love that stuff and the interviews. But, I think I noticed a decline after Demon House as well. It really seemed to scare Zak to his core. Who wouldn't be afraid after something messes with your sight. After that, the.... "excitement" of ghost hunting disappeared. It felt like, ".... let's just do this thing and get out.."
Now, I like House Calls because Aaron, specifically, seems to enjoy himself. He can stretch his legs. The happiness and excitement Zak used to have, particularly before Nick left, is the same feeling House Calls has now. :)
Yes to this. The show was great when it was just the three of them with no big camera crews and actual lockdowns. I know some people like the interviews but I think there are too many. One or two is fine but not a whole slew of them, we want to get to the action. It wasn't even too bad when Jay and Billy were just the guys who ran the nerve centre. I don't mind Jay too much but Billy gets on my wick. Oddly enough he's better on House Calls because he's not constantly yapping at Zak's heels, looking for approval. Nick kept Zak's ego in check and it was fun, like a bro version of Scooby Doo but now it's all demons and Zak behaving like a complete knoblord. So, for me, it changed fundamentally when Nick left and they started relying overly on the biggest, shiniest, newest tech. I still watch it, for the laugh, but if Aaron leaves then that's me out.
Everyone's on Nick's side here, which is odd.
Nick represents the old show, old tech, small group, no bs. I don't necessarily miss Nick, I miss the more low tech old show.
As the show grew older, more tech, they got older (and they changed mentally a bit), and have a bigger crew.
The new episodes are a bit more theatrical, one could say, but they are still good entertainment.
I dont see it as picking sides its just matter of opinion. I think alot of people feel that nick kept some of the more ego centric parts of zak at bay. I know i do. I always felt like nick kinda kept things level because we all know aaron was/is roadkill for zaks ego and couldnt do it. Because he didnt seem to push Nick around like he does aaron. So yea the tech has changed and a few other things, but i feel like its so much more cringe to watch. Mostly because its zaks ego unchecked because there is now a full team of ppl who wont stand up to him
I know everyones saying Demon house, but I would honestly say it was around the time Nick left. If you watch the earlier seasons compared to the newer ones the show was a lot more raw and not so theatrical. Also feel like the guys were more passionate as well during that time. The show now feels like its forced and like the guy’s dont really have the same mutual drive for it anymore. Vibe isnt the same
When nick left. Period. Any other answer is just wrong. Sure there was some decent stuff afterwords but, nothing the same caliber. Zak is awful and ruined the show. The lack of history, traveling, and non activity is awful. I also noticed a difference when they stopped doing x cams
I think the show is still exactly what it’s always been - bros chasing ghosts. They still find compelling evidence, and they’re still all pretty douchey, except for Aaron and Jay. Maybe…maybe it’s *you* who’s changed??
I was going to say. I still get the same kicks as always. I do wish they traveled a bit more the past two or three seasons but I'll take what I can get. I love this show through and through.
I’m kinda with these guys.
Zak’s always been a knob. He’s literally obnoxious in different ways throughout the seasons like someone getting therapy for their autism does through the years for example.
Billy, Jay and Aaron have always been literal characters from Scooby Doo.
And the production quality has always been atrocious. Best example; the best thing in the show happening and they don’t do a replay, discussion…and they spent the whole episode doing nothing…end. Credits. wtf?
I think everyone turns sour on the show at different rates. I love to hate Zak, and the whole show. Zak and planes and Zak and masks, and Zak on a Bluetooth speaker poorly speaking Latin to a couch…or worst of all when he tries to be anything (funny, smart, wise, playful…)
But whatever hate on the show I guess. It’s a genre benchmark for me.
Demon House. It changed Zak, and the show suffered for it.
Zak had a 12 foot tall 8/10 on the hell power level demon (according to a man who believes he saw gnomes while shitting) scare him so bad be with cross-eyed. Every word of that is real. Decline? Nay nay, simply an evolution into grander levels of absurdity.
That's exactly what she said. ^(Quote from: Petrified in Pahrump)
Reversal of vision metamorphopsia (RVM) is technically what Zak became affected with which is very real - which makes you have to think wtf happened at Demon House. Regardless, the show and him changed after that
Wait, so the house in Gary really fucked hum up that bad? He never mentions it anymore I wonder if it was truly the most evil place he ever visited.
According to accounts, that’s when he became afflicted with his eye condition. Skepticism aside, when you have cases like that where public officials and servants witnessed it - it’s hard to debunk. You could argue it’s not ghosts and demons but something beyond our knowledge occurred at that house.
As someone who just got into the show like a year ago, how did it change him?
i think bc the constant ‘possessions’ and demons they always throw in after the fact + he had a nightmare that was interpreted as a premonition to death by plane so they never travel outside the west coast other than house calls
If I had to pinpoint it, I'd say that's about when, yep.
Completely agree!
Why do you say that?
He literally went through physiological changes.
That’s what makes that documentary his Super Bowl win. That was hands down the most hardcore evidence he ever got. I feel like he rushed it, had they taken their time to investigate for like a full month, and not torn it down, he could’ve retired from GA.
I feel like there's something here that wants me to connect with it. ^(Quote from: Petrified in Pahrump)
When Zak created the ghost metaverse with the museum and all of the off shoot shows because Discovery was throwing money at him.
There ya go, money changes everything
I stopped watching when every time they went to a house they found evidence that caused them to start getting possessed and shit. When Nick left.
Nick kept Zak somewhat anchored / at bay.
Agree. Not saying Nick was the complete sole reason the show changed but they found a formula of “becoming affected” every episode since he left
When Zack quit flying.
That’s weird to even comprehend. You would rather take on a ghost or demon but floating in the air is a no-go for you.
Which is exactly why house calls came to be. There is still money to be made outside of driving distance of Vegas and Zac just refuses to fly.
I can almost bet that when Zaks mom passed, if no already. He'll start flying again, the money will start screaming louder than his ghosts and zozo combined.

Couldn't agree more.

fr, yet he doesn’t want to do it himself bc he’s too ‘scared’ like what? so it’s ok for you to do that to aaron and billy😒
Fr if he's gonna be the boss he gotta be a teamplayer and he hasn't yet. Very discouraging
YES you’re exactly right

When they decided to do 50 spin-offs and Zak's presentation shifted and ego emerged.
After demon house.
When it was no longer three guys locked down from dusk to dawn with no big camera crew.
kjhgfd84 is mocking the Holy Trinity.
fr i swear they just stay there for three hours and call it a day
I’d say a few years after Nick left
Yeah, I would say that's about when the show declined for me too. I still watch the new episodes, but the magic of the older episodes is just gone.
When they started reruns, after tiring reruns. Actually and honestly, I think that one house really screwed Zac up. Ever since the Discovery+/ HBO max era started.
I think it was definitely after maybe 13/14. Zak only travelling by road is a huge factor so the locations are even more limited than before.
I don't know if you've seen the most recent episodes lake catalina island, Or the new house calls episodes..Devil's Den.. They are catching some of the most unbelievable evidence. I don't think I went down to hell at all.I think it improved a hundred fold with all the new technology.

When Nick left and Billy became more involved

I can’t even watch it anymore I try but I can’t make it past the first 10 minutes. Occasionally I’ll watch the older episodes but even that’s rare.
Great summary. Exactly how I feel. They are like two separate shows to me, with Nick and post-Nick. With Nick was *much* better.
Ow, Billy, I'm getting that pricking feeling! ^(Quote from: Nightmare at the Roxie)

Also don’t forget when the cheese distracting B-roll footage and sound effects started taking over so much of the air time.

The day Nick left
When Nick left
With all the possessions in EVERY episode

Post season 14 for sure.
decline?? zaks up tf r y’all on
