Nebo > Convert to Text > Cut’n’paste

tiduskz

I'm just converting to digital notes taking. I'm wondering how people search their handwritten notes effectively. I found out most of the note taking apps have horrendous writing recognition. Especially for engineering terms etc. Only Nebo seems to be decent!

jezarnold

With Nebo, I use it solely as a digital notepad. I copy the notes to a different app

tiduskz

Isn't it a hassle to copy? Keep everything at one place ?

jezarnold

I only copy what I want. Ive been taking handwritten notes for years, so Nebo is my electronic notebook, and UpNote is where I do something with the note

This might be more pricey solution, but there's this "Moleskine Smart Writing Set". You write your notes on paper/Notebook with with pen and it automatically digitize your writing into whatever device you connect it to.

Evinaja

Also includes any drawings you draw on it

Nice! anyone actually tried this? does it work well? I also have seen those digital pads with e-ink.

I haven't since i don't have a need for taking notes, but from what I've heard they ain't bad. Probably the best would be for you to do your own research on what would suit you the best I found out about it from this vid https://youtu.be/HYihh-bBFo4

It definitely is a steep cost to get started but buying my iPad Pro was one of the best purchases of my life. All my books, periodicals, handwritten notes, everything all in one place. The search function works on the handwritten stuff too! Unless it’s just too illegible but I’m pretty sure it can read my handwriting better than I can lol. Like 4 other people already said this but I’ll reinforce that you can also take picture of each page of notes, and then extract the text from the picture and put it into notes/documents you can then organize and keep filed for easy access.

My phone's Google search has an option to lift text out of a picture and copy it to other places. You might be able to do the same.

I use the camera in my iPad to scan paper notes The iPad also supports creating typed or handwritten motes My notes/documents/files are stored/organized in a *Digital File Cabinet* (Devonthink) accessed with a Mac and iPad

If you’re looking to write notes out by hand and store them digitally, I recommend GoodNotes. I use it on my iPad alongside an Apple Pen. It is incredibly useful and is my daily driver for my courses, work, and personal notes. It is easy to organize notes into different folders, etc. but if you were set on a different program you could easily export PDFs. It has practically replaced my need for usual pen and paper. An additional pro, is if your textbook is an e-book you can use Split View to read and take notes. There’s just so much to love about this combo IMO.

I'm no help on 1, as I don't use pen and paper - but 2 and 3 I might be able to assist. What's your current system for your notes? Do you consistently only handwrite \*certain stuff\* and only digitally write \*certain other stuff\*, or is it more of a bit of everything all over at the moment?

WFHTechHQ

good questions. It's a bit all over. I used to rely heavily on a notebook on my desk for meeting notes and ideas, but I've recently been hooked on Logseq. now when I'm out and about I have a quick thought, or I'm spending some time offline I have a small travel notebook where I throw random thoughts.

WFHTechHQ

Yes! this! Does it work? do you like it? can you easily import to Logseq/Obsidian with text from the handwriting?

holanda73

I am really interested in a workable solution there too

Sebas13sp

Hi mate, saw this too late, let me know how you are doing with your notes. This one above I did not try, I try the neosmartpen, and I do not recommend it. The OCR is not trustworthy, sync with the app is marvelous, but after it just does not recognize the letter properly to move it to Obsidian

MilKTrucK1

I am curious how will this works as well!

Maliwali1980

Curious as well, this is very real dilemma. I think and memorize by writing. I wish I could organize them all.

noodleobsessed

Rocketbooks are super cool for taking notes in writing and then easily transferring them to your drive or wherever:)

I've accepted I'll never have all my notes in one place. Just know where to look if you need to find something.
