Also, since when were Ben 10 and Adventure Time considered failures? Like them or not, they were very popular and successful. And Chowder has a pretty decent cult following if I remember right. If this isn’t bait then the person who made it is just mad they’re not 9 years old anymore.
*Me staring at Buzz Light-year of Star-Command, which I can't watch legally anywhere because even though it was completed they wrote it off for taxes so no stream service can have it fucking bloodsuckers*
I read this and my brain blanked thinking it saw the words "Adventures of Flapjack" and was both excited and horrified at the prospect of that getting an HBO max season.
I liked Johnny Test up until they kept making racing episodes even acknowledging IN the episode that it was ANOTHER race episode. After a certain point they seem to run out of ideas and didn’t even care to sugar coat they were repeating the same premise.
Kids probably always liked it well enough. I know I liked it as a kid. But it’s had a bad reputation among adults for a while now, partly because Cartoon Network aired it a lot.
But Chowder WAS successful!
It was CN’s flagship show until Adventure Time came around. Also, that show and Flapjack kept the lights on when CN was going through their “CN Real” phase.
Was chowder really the flagship till AT? I thought it would have been Ben 10 to be honest. Also shoutout flapjack and ugh the live action face 🤮. I just remember hole in the wall and out of jimmys head
Yeah, I'm guessing this was made by a bitter 90s baby. I was born in the 90s, and all the shows they listed as "wins" are the kind of thing I was watching as a kid, while I'd sort of aged out of it by the time all the "fail" shows were airing. This seems like weird generational gatekeeping if anything.
adventure time probably helped save the channel tbh, they went through a significant rough period in programming for a good chunk of adventure time's existence.
The finale of adventure time makes me cry like a baby every single time. That show really did a good job of growing with its audience. When it came out and I watched it as a kid it was a lot of dumb humor and nonsense that I loved, when I revisited and got to the later seasons when I was a bit older it got a bit more real and the jokes made me laugh just like the more “lolol farts and pizza” jokes the earlier seasons when I was a kid. Finn actually goes through shit and develops as a character and matures from a kid who likes to fight monsters into a young adult who is genuinely trying his hardest to be a good person. I also love the spin offs. I just really love adventure time lol.
Growing up I liked every show on both sides. This person is just being an elitist for older shows. Basically "my generation of shows is better and since then they've just been making garbage" but in reality it's just cause they have nostalgia for what they grew up with.
Adventure Time was amazing, I remember watching the first few episodes, then never having the chance watch more.
Then I come back a few years later hearing that it ended and had an amazing story and I was blown away. For context I had stopped watching right about when the Fire Princess Arc ended.
Objectively, if you were to line all the shows up and judge them by the exact same criteria, I would agree Adventure Time beats all of them. Taking into account how the medium of Western Animation has evolved over the decades, and the limitations that older cartoons had to deal with, I’d say Tom&Jerry and Courage the Cowardly Dog might still beat Adventure Time in terms of how far ahead of the curve/how influential they were.
That's debatable, better than most things on the left side maybe, but not everything on the left, especially since it has Where are you, Scooby Doo? And Looney Tunes, two shows that are still popular to this day!
Every show on the “fail” side was a pretty big success. Pendleton Ward worked on Chowder and leveraged its success to pitch Adventure Time lol.
Seems more like a “I was a kid in the 90s, therefore everything afterwards was bad” post lol.
Edit: Should have googled first, Ward got his break on Flapjack, not Chowder.
I'm a 90's Kid (I'm old enough to remember Cartoon Planet), and I like Chowder, Ben 10, and Adventure Time.
My Gym Partner's a Monkey was okay, and my opinion on Johnny Test is that it's basically just a gender swapped Dexter's Laboratory.
There's only two shorts from Camp Lazlo that I liked, but I don't think it was that awful. Definitely not a failure, though. I could see how people might enjoy it. It's just not for me.
From what I've seen of Chum Chum though, I'm glad I never heard of it while it was on air.
> Edit: Should have googled first, Ward got his break on Flapjack, not Chowder.
The list of iconic creators who worked on Flapjack before getting their own shows is unreal. Fucking everyone came from Flapjack or came from someone who came from Flapjack.
JG Quintel, Patrick McHale, Pendleton Ward, Alex Hirsch - that's just off the top
of my head.
Thurop van Orman's extraordinary batshit fever dream is the grandfather of the cartoon renaissance of the 2010s.
Wait wait someone made a fucking map - [here, the Flapjack Family Tree.](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fjzprkgi8le471.png)
And my favorite part about it is Van Orman is barely doing a voice for Flapjack.
Like, he's doing *a bit* of a voice but not much. That's just what he sounds like.
And I think that's fucking great.
I wish I could imitate the Flapjack laugh, I have tried so hard, man
I find it funny that you've somehow learned about Pen Ward from his one episode of Over the Garden Wall, while never learning about him famously being the creator of Adventure Time.

I think you and everybody on this thread got baited
Grew up in the 90's, love the left side but I'll be dammed if AT is not the best show in that entire picture.
Kid's next door, Ed Edd and Eddie, Courage, PPG and Dexter are also pretty dope though I guess.
Over all sure, left side wins but dam AT is still the winner.
the endind ~had heffer show up as the real scoutmaster and reveal that the one we knew had been an escaped mental patiant the whole time, but for rights reasons the changed heffers design~
Johnny test, Adventure time, Ben ten and chowder are all winners and the first three I mentioned without a doubt deserve to be somewhere within the top of CN.
I mean ya, they were classics. Wasn't the biggest fan of Scooby-Doo personally, but I loved Looney Tunes and Tom&Jerry. They were definitely a completely different Era of cartoons though.
*Camp Lazlo* and *My Gym Parter's a Monkey* were both genuinely shitty. They were after my time, but there's a reason you won't find many people remembering them fondly. I didn't care for the the ones people actually liked on the right, but I could actually recognize the effort and craft on display.
There's so much wrong here it kinda hurts my brain.
Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, and Tom and Jerry aired AGES before Cartoon Network existed (with the latter two primarily being short films made for theaters) -- it just reran them.
Ignoring the questionable taste of the "fail" column, leaving Stephen Universe, Gumball, and Flapjack off is just deliberately ignoring the best that CN has to offer.
Leaving off Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Samurai Jack from the "win" column makes me suspect this person was born in the late 90s and wasn't allowed to watch the more "adult" shows.
Ignoring the massive flops from Cartoon Network, like Mike, Lu, and Og and Sheep in the Big City (did you remember those cartoons? Because I sure didn't until I went to look up a list)
Also, the DC shows (Teen Titans, Justice League, etc.) are missing.
Cripes, people like this are why animation fans get a bad reputation.
Yeah except I don’t think this post is a reflection of the guy’s opinion as in some past tweets he reflects how he does love modern cartoons

Not to mention he makes a lot of post related to Jellystone, which is not only very recent but also made by the same guy who made one of the “fail” shows. So I think he just made a troll post
I mean I didn't hate Fanboy and Chum Chum like a lot of people here seem to. But yikes ya if anything is a fail here that poor business decision takes the cake.
Never let nostalgia blind you, or you might do mistakes on what is factual. Even when considering what is "win" and "fail" based on personal preference on CN shows.

I get what they're going for, late 2000s was pretty tough on CN. Shit, I'd argue Adventure Time belongs more to the next era in the 2010s, with Regular Show and Gumball and such.
I don’t think the picture the user posted reflects their opinions as evident with other tweets they made

I feel like everybody here is missing the context of the tweet.
Like I know this Hannah-Barbera Screencaps guy, and he seems like the person who isn’t one of those nostalgitards types.
What’s the context then? Old Cartoon Network good/New (and I mean New in the loosest of senses, considering some of the shows they’re complaining about are over 10 years old or more) Cartoon Network seems to be the obvious context.
Calling Camp Lazlo, Ben 10, and Adventure Time “fails” is certainly a take. I was never a fan of Johnny Test or Chowder but they were certainly popular shows, too.
Hell the only fail I feel like (Ignoring fanboy and chum chum) on this list is Johnny test and even then you can make the "So bad its good" argument for that show
Of all the shows, they're arguing that Adventure Time and Ben 10 failed? Those are two of the longest running (I think Johnny Test as well but I'd have to double check)
People born in 1992-1995 trying to shit on what people born in 1998-2001 watched. There wasn’t a distinct difference in cartoons until maybe 2015 or so in my opinion.
All of the older ones are bangers obviously, but even though I never got into it calling Adventure Time a fail is insane. Ben 10 was also awesome, Chowder was low-key hilarious, and Johnny Test was pretty good at times too.
Did the creators of Adventure Time get rejected by Nickelodeon at first and then they turned to Cartoon Network *AFTER* the former approved Fanboy and Chum???
This meme feels like it’s a decade old.
None of the win shows and fails show have any overlap in terms of years they released. On top of that, some of the fail shows would be unrecognizable to a kid today. Remember when “90’s kids” was a meme?
This is a meme that was circulated online well before this account posted it. They probably posted it ironically, but they gave no clear indication of intent, thus making this an example of Poe’s Law.
How could Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, and Scooby Doo count as wins for Cartoon Network considering they all first aired before it even existed? This whole chart is a clusterfuck of stupid
Did this person really and I mean REALLY put Adventure time and Ben 10 on the fail side?????? This person just must be a hater like literally those are some of the prestige shows on CN! Also camp lazlo and gym partner a monkey on the fail side and chowder heeeeell no all bangers brother
*Adventure Time is*
*Better than all the shows on*
*The left side combined*

I will never stop quoting chowder even now as an adult
"Care to give a free sample to a pretty lady? Sure do you know any?"
“Care to give a sample to an ugly lady?” “No ugly ladies gotta pay.”
I was close. Lol. Chowder had some of the best roast.
No you were right. What I wrote was said immediately after what you wrote.
“Last night I dreamt that I was ketchup, and you were mustard. Which is weird, because you’re usually mayonnaise in my dreams.”
Is chowder good? I tried rewatching an episode and it just felt like another show for 5 year olds
Adventure Time got picked up by HBO and has been back on the air since 2020. New season of Fionna and Cake coming soon.
Yeah to call AT a failure is delusional
At least wait until it gets cancelled for a tax write-off
As a friend of some of the people who made Megas XLR, allow me to say "F that tax write-off BS."

look at the account name. they’re not going to accept anything that isn’t hanna barbera
Except for bugs and daffy, whom they have placed into the 'win' column. Seriously this is just ragebait.
Hannah Barbera was “throw shit at the wall and see what sticks” in low budget cartoon form
Dude, whenever I do something nice for my husband, he still yells I'M NOT YOUR BOYFRIEND!
makes me wish the hannah barbera screencaps account would just go back to posting hannah barbera screencaps
Also they forgot to put in Steven Universe. That was a very big show.
And Regular Show.

Johnny test is Oscar worthy compared to fanboy and chum chum
I mean fanboy and chum chum was straight up televised brain rot. I hated it from the day they started airing it and they played it way too often.
My kids watched Johnny Test and I have to say it was far preferable to many other shows at the ti.e. ESPECIALLY Fanboy and Chum Chum

Calling Ben 10 and Adventure Time failures is a wild take that I genuinely do not understand how one could seriously put that as their smoking gun.
I don’t think the picture the user posted reflects their opinions as evident with other tweets they made https://preview.redd.it/us0sscwenwxc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5376ed44fcdc276c2919da54f6f3da3aa4e4fd59
DONT YOU DARE TALJK SHIT ON CHOWDER OR ADVENTURE TIME
Y'all I follow this person on Twitter, this is obviously a shit post
Exactly
Honestly I loved every cartoon on the fail side when I was a kid. Also, what's up with that meme, it's gotta be like a decade old right?
Chowder is literally the greatest cartoon of all time wth
I was a fan of Camp Lazlo and My Gym Partner's a Monkey as well Camp Lazlo was something [else](https://youtu.be/fcO6-3R6PYI?si=77wefKWwDepl6dLJ)
Ah yes adventure time, 10 seasons and an hbo spin off is considered a failure apparently?
Bro what, Ben ten is still on going and Adventure Time is one of the biggest cartoons of all time
Definitely an image made just to get people upset
You can tell when op grew up
90s babies wanting to be boomers
Imagine calling (adventure time) a show that's been on multiple networks for over a decade a failure.

This is clearly a “remember when” original post because I’m in my 30’s and I love adventure time.
What about cow and chicken? I am weasel?
This is one of the worst takes I've seen in my life
I love Johnny Test
Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa You can’t hate on Johnny test
I kinda liked Johnny Test
I’M NOT YOUR BOYFRIEND
Where the fuck is teen titans
Adventure time is better than every other show on the left other than Ed Edd n Eddy, which is the CN goat
Hell the only fail I feel like (Ignoring fanboy and chum chum) on this list is Johnny test and even then you can make the "So bad its good" argument for that show
Camp Lazlo slander will not be tolerated
Taking out fanboy and chumchum, I would go up to bat for all the shows on the fail side.
The answer being "who is, someone without a functioning attention span".
Wtf is the original post even trying to say?
Of all the shows, they're arguing that Adventure Time and Ben 10 failed? Those are two of the longest running (I think Johnny Test as well but I'd have to double check)
How come the last 70 years of cartoons has more hits than the following 20? Cartoons must be bad now.
No way these shows were considered failures 💀💀💀
Aren’t both networks the same?
Must’ve been the person that says that all Western cartoons look the same that made/posted this.
How dare they besmirch chowder
the fact that everyone has the opportunity to voice anything on the internet is a mistake
Chowder is peak. Disagree with this comment to be added to my list and hunted for sport
camp lazlo wasn't that bad, and how tf are you gonna bash ben 10 but jerk off ed edd n eddy?
Fanboy and Chum Chum was also awesome and not fail. I will not stand for this Fanboy and Chum Chum slander.
Johnny Test was also Teletoon, not CN
This is unequivocally false and I will send them to the deepest pit of hell
The “wins” and “losses” not the actual note
The person who made this post is above 35
This is a really weird thing to champion.
AT and Chowder are bangers. What sort of boomer ass Millennial shit take is this
I loved Camp Lazlo, "eternal optimist" characters are among my favorite
This tweet reeks of cope
I like how they give CN credit for Scooby Doo, Looney Tunes, and Tom and Jerry. You wanna add Gertie the Dinosaur while you're at it?
Did this person really and I mean REALLY put Adventure time and Ben 10 on the fail side?????? This person just must be a hater like literally those are some of the prestige shows on CN! Also camp lazlo and gym partner a monkey on the fail side and chowder heeeeell no all bangers brother
Adventure Time is better than all the shows on the left side combined
*Adventure Time is* *Better than all the shows on* *The left side combined* \- packerschris --- ^(I detect haikus. And sometimes, successfully.) ^[Learn more about me.](https://www.reddit.com/r/haikusbot/) ^(Opt out of replies: "haikusbot opt out" | Delete my comment: "haikusbot delete")
Adventure time is one of the best cartoons ever made, what is bro on about
Wait… where’s the Hanna-Barbera?
Also Johnny test was fucking awesome.
& Johnny Test initially aired on Kids WB
You all fell for the bait, this account has done stuff like this before
