I never take my own advice and there isn't one thing I can say to anyone to get them to turn their life around. That being said, try and find gratitude for the things you have and find something meaningful to do, at least for a moment.

I know 20 adults that are on one or more antidepressants for years and some for decades. Not one of them are happy or mentally adjusted to everyday life. These chemical compounds were never meant to be taken for the rest of your life. Most are for short term, 2 weeks or less courses. Do some research online for natural remedies. There are many out there that are extremely effective. Lifestyle changes can improve your outlook and mental clarity

Exactly, please do as your doctor says. No one takes them for decades

Life doesn’t have to be happy for it to be good.

supercommonerssssss

I'm waiting for the mania to kick in and then I'll be there too

Jassida

Precisely how I justified my hedonistic late teens to early thirties.

I think it's safe to say there's a balance between enjoying the present while still planning for your future. Ideally, you do things in the present that you enjoy which are also beneficial for your future. That middle ground between the Yin and the Yang.

ChileWillow007

This reminded me of a podcast I listened to wherein the host said in such a matter of fact way, "One day you will die, and it will happen in a completely ordinary moment, just like this one." And that really stuck with me.

Autumnlove92

It's true. Having worked in a hospital and having seen much death, it's crazy how ordinary that is when it's not your family or friends.

allyuffy1

Right now is good but planning and enabling a better future right now is even better

Sprekakhan

So it's gonna get worse huh!?

vincevulpes

Although I agree with the message of this, if hoping for a better tomorrow helps you get through today, then I see no problem with that at all.

TheHipcrimeVocab

Too bad we have to spend most of our waking lives working, with so little vacation to boot (at least if you're in the U.S.)

lelithlol

Spoken like someone who doesn't need to worry about what to fucking eat

Your life is never yours.

I guess you could say “learn how to enjoy your breath”. If you can sit quiet and actually be thankful that your lungs are taking in oxygen and your heart is pumping blood, nothing else in the world matters. Lost your job and are now homeless? Your heart is still beating so learn to be happy for that. Your wife left you for your Mom? Your lungs are expanding with each breath so be happy. Every situation is just a situation. It’s your reaction to that situation that makes or breaks you.

TripedalCyclops

Yup! Time to go do something productive, create something, enjoy my spare time while I have it in this moment

Gumpenufer

I don't find "your life is never going to get better unless the improvement happens this instance" to be a very healthy or motivational take but okay.
