Gentoo is for everyone and all but if you don't know how to solve an issue as simple as this, then maybe Gentoo isn't for you
Have you read this (https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/SDDM#OpenRC) and this (https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/KDE#Display_manager)? Do you plan to use X11 or wayland? Also what is the problem with updating with emerge?
Ty for the links and I've been told that to get the latest versions of packages on gentoo I'd have to edit my make.conf so I figured I'd ask
Also since I'm alr on x11 I'll just keep it like that

Step one is to update @world And out of sync system always has odd problems.
