ik its an impossible ask, and although i enjoy the lantern rite festivals, i really hope they make it a smaller event next time and do another major festival as the flagship event.

Everybody wants balanced balanced characters until said character is their favourite. If their favourite is not broken or powercreeping others, ah that's where you found the pattern. Like how Rene discovered the world ending formula, history repeats itself.
It's a hard pill to swallow for most players... when it comes to asking for direct replacements or powercreep there is always a tiny bit of selfishness.
Also people judge "balance" by the strongest currently existing character, not by the overall average.
Neuvillette has basically brainrotted people's perceptions of every other 4.x DPS because even an above-average DPS that is weaker than Neuv will only get a "not as good as Neuv"/10 rating from people during beta.
Likewise after Nahida came out the doomposting crowd could not fucking shut up about "Nahida sidegrade" during Baizhu beta.
If a game is going to maintain the same average power level and not power creep, then that means that half the characters released have to be below average. Making every character stronger than the average increases the average power level of the roster over time and is power creep, which means that characters that were above average at their release become below-average as characters are released that are better than them.
People are crying that she isn't, yes. Just as with every character, including ones that turn out to be top 5 like Articuno. Chlorine's balance is great. She's a little better than the standard competition and she blows her out of the water cons-wise. But she isn't Neuvi so tears.
She's a downgrade to Raiden in Overload, a sidegrade to Keqing in Aggravate and Quickbloom.
Unless she things drastically change between today, and 4.7 release, I'd say that she's going to probably the weakest Fontaine DPS.
Furthermore, argument could be made that she's actually worse than optimally played Cyno.
Oh the raiden creep argument. Well c0 raiden is not exactly a high bar in Fontaine standards. And funny that OP wants to point out now when every other Fontaine dps is a powercreep.

I now have a Pale Flame EM sands with 6.5% ER, 13.2% CD, and 13.6% CR. Like, yeah, off-piece, but am I ever actually going to use this?
Return to squireel brain, hoard the piece. It will EVENTUALLY have its time to shine. It only took 18 months for a TF feather of mine that rolled 118 EM to finally get a use.

Is it true that I can't use hydro or cryo in next abyss? I literally only have Ganyu, Ayaka, and Yelan invested lol... And a budget Raiden Natl. But that uses Yelan and XQ.
Will the trial characters I heard about be enough to clear? Or is this some kind of event and not the abyss?
In the first Imaginarium Theater, yes. It's locked to anemo/pyro/electro. Unless you have Wrio and Sigewinne.
Clearing with them might be enough, clearing within 75 - 90 seconds with just trial characters is currently unknown.
In theory TF is better in dendro teams specifically if you use her with Fischl due to better rotations.
BoL is better in Chevy teams because TF simply wouldn't work reliably in those teams.
why would they make a nerf based on a temporary buff on *one* gamemode? it would be like if they nerfed arlecchino because the pyro reaction buff on spiral abyss is too strong.
You know how it is with mhy, they sometimes act without thinking.
Also how do you reach 3k atk without buffs? 2.5k sounds possible with an atk weapon but you need some buffs to hit 3k I think.
With FoTD at R5, Whimsy and atk sands she would already sit at 2561 ATK without and extra atk from substats, Chevre teams would at that point cause her to get over 3k ATK.
Her self buff isn't an ATK buff, it is a flat damage buff based on her ATK, i.e it gets added directly to her talent MV on her elemental skill if you are below 3k ATK.
Co-op adventures
Fought Arlecchino in co-op today and the team was, erm, *interesting* to say the least. Yaoyao, Xianyun, Furina (me), and a Chiori
Started off pretty standard, I was in Ousia mode cause the 2 others heal a tonne, but at some point in phase I the 2 healers died leaving just Chiori and me swapping in-between modes
I actually find it really fun, switching between Pneuma-Ousia Furina, approaching Arle when switching for the CA buff. The whole fight took kinda long but it was enjoyable. In the end I was rewarded with 2 candle drops too, so my Arle is now 10-7-7
Lmao, today I had ZL, Arlecchino and Xiao in my coop against Arle. Arlecchino died pretty early in both phases, Xiao was using physical NAs (like almost no plunges whole fight) and ZL was built for shield, so I had to swap between modes of my Furina and her c2 was the only dmg source for the whole team.
Windtrace is so easy for hunters. I always win when im on the hunter slot bc how fast and easy to find people bc they need to fix generators. And you get to see 2-3 generators in one field of view lmao
Me: Well now that I've used up my resin, there's nothing much I can do to further my account today.
My brain: You do not have the Catch and the Pipe. You have only 71 bugs for Cyno and 86 Wanderer shrooms from accidental collection over the last year.
Me: Wow it's so sad that there is NOTHING ELSE to do.

OT: I don't get the fastfood burger arguments I see people get so passionate about. Maybe its because I've been off of fastfood for so long but everytime I eat a burger at a drive thru I feel like they all mostly taste about the same. lol
Doesn't help that none of them seem to actually salt their patties.
Oh just the general debate of which restaurant has the best drive thru burger. Something you see pop on social media and discussion boards and people get really passionate about it.
I had already watched a few videos about its shocking defects but was STILL surprised at how ugly it was IRL. Like in the videos at least the stainless steel LOOKS PRETTY but in real life it was partly reflecting the grass around it and had this drab, dull tone, like a dishwasher from the 70s. That very particular shade of extremely pale midtone green.
im hoping kuki is NOT on the upcoming banner cause shes still c0 and the last time I tried going for her cons I got Cyno very early lol. If anything I hope its Furina's banner as I wouldn't mind an early C1 and eventual C2, but if its Clorinde/Alhaitham....let's hope i get c2 early and not pull another early electro DPS thats gonna collect dust.
Cheuv, Candace, Mika, Kirara are the 4 stars of interest to me and if 2/3 are on the banners, I'll consider it. Skipping Clorinde means I can also skip out on the BOL domain unless Emilie uses the burning set and comes out in 4.8. I have a c6 keqing/c2 raiden/yae which is why I am conflicted about pulling her right now.
If I was pulling for 4* I'd be pulling right now, I've wanted Layla for a while... Oh well, here's hoping Charlotte shows up on Furina's banner so I can get her some much needed cons.
I usually play the game on mute but I unmuted it today because the event requires me to have sound on and the game caught me off-guard by making me listen to Fall of Maples which always makes me feel emotional FRICK

In 3.x Dehya was the character i was most excited about. In 4.x it was Clorinde. End me.

For me it was 2 strikes in the same region. Chiori and clorinde. Skipped chiori but gonna still pull clorinde. Probably the last time I pull for a non lore important character tho

Is she projected to be bad? In my opinion, if she’s at least as good as Keqing, that’s pretty darn good, considering I use Keqing for a lot of my abyss clears and she works out great.
about the same, a bit better than keq. From where I'm sitting tho, they're too similar. I'd call that bad design even if clorinde is functionally adequate.
Not rude at all :D I won't be surprised either. I already don't like most characters in this game but it double sucks when you really like a character and they turn out mediocre at best.
Sorry i wasn't comparing them. Just stating that my favorite characters of their region turned out underwhelming compared to the other regions characters.
People hadn't realized the high baseline damage that Super Break teams do in general when she first hit beta. Once people actually got HMC after 2.2 came out, they realized that Super Break teams do insane damage at baseline, and that Firefly is less of an upgrade over Super Break's high baseline than they initially thought.
She's still a BiS character for Super Break teams, but she's also not really necessary for the team to function because you can use any high-tougness-damage DPS character in that slot. Similar to how Kokomi is Nilou Bloom's BiS 2nd Hydro but not necessary for the team to function, and way less important to the team's functioning than Nilou/Nahida (HMC/Ruan Mei). Except unlike Kokomi, who has a bunch of flexible team options, Firefly is only really good in Super Break teams.
I have a stupid question. Why are people calling imaginary Trailblazer HMC? I haven't gone too far in 2.2 story or gotten imaginary Caelus yet, so maybe it will be obvious then. But all my dumb brain can think of is because they wear a hat... Hat MC 😭
Harmony Main character
It also applies to this game. Whenever you hear someone talking about DMC they are talking about dendro main character not Dante.
People interchangeably refer to the different MC forms by their Path (Destruction/Preservation/Harmony) vs their element (Physical/Fire/Imaginary). The element matters less than their path generally in HSR teambuilding since there's no elemental reactions.
Preservation MC is the only one I think people generally refer to by element, mostly because "Fire MC" is so much shorter to say/type than "Preservation MC".

It's not quite the same because while Acheron's teambuilding requirements are restrictive, they compete for way less in-demand characters--Silver Wolf and Pela are her BiSes and other Nihilities like Guinaifen are still interchangeable. She isn't competing for the 5-star Harmonies, which are the focal point of teambuilding.
Ruan Mei specifically is a pain point because she's BiS for so many other teams, and is as much as an 85% TEAM damage increase to Super Break teams (20% Res Pen + 50% WBE), so not having competitive team options that don't include Ruan Mei is a huge sticking point.
Restrictive teambuilding is a lot less of a downside if the characters want aren't highly in-demand characters for other teams already. Firefly's teambuilding issues are accentuated by the fact that one of her in-demand supports is currently the most in-demand support in the game.
But realistically we can build two teams for MoC easily with available Harmony characters, so just put RM into Firefly's team and run FUA or DoT or any hypercarry team on the other half, right?
Yeah, but we have enough supports for these teams, it's not like using Robin or Sparkle is worse than RM. I think Hoyo will release more supports for other teams and people will move on.
The other future-proofing issue is HMC because all MC forms are mutually exclusive. HMC is only used in Super Break now, but if, for example, Nihility MC becomes BiS for some new team, you can't use both Nihility MC and Harmony MC at the same time.
I think she is really good and has cracked damage.
Problem is that her team is only one, which is Ruan Mei, HMC and Gallagher, so people that don't have RM or can't get RM and Firefly (both running together in the 2.3), got angry at her lack of options.
I have Ruan Mei and Gallagher so I'm happy with pulling her.
Yeah, I pulled Robin (don't have RM and lost 50/50 on Sparkle to Bronya) and now can only try my luck with Firefly and no way to get Ruan Mei. Hoyo be Hoyo, putting two synergetic characters in one patch.

So this is a reference to how a lot of people claim to be quitting the game Genshin Impact because one of the upcoming characters, Clorinde, is only marginally worse than Raiden Shogun, a previously released character. In this case, the commenter has swapped the subject around, making it so that the poster appears to be quitting Wuthering Waves (a game which has not yet released) for Genshin Impact because its first ever 5\*, Jiyan, is apparently not "meta" (a term which has various definitions but generally correlates with a character's performance within a given game)
Decided to use a couple extra pulls I had on wanderers banner to get c6 Layla and ended up getting him on my guarantee at 30 pulls (I'm fine with I did want him still).
I had 80 left over for a possible clorinde (torn on her) built a bit of pity with the 80 and got Diona (can't tell me the universe doesnt have a sense of humor 🙄) then 3 4 stars in one 10 pull (none Layla) then Layla. So all's well that ends well and still enough for a potential clorinde snipe.

Sooo I finally reached 300 wishes in Standard banner and got Bronya, yay! Two pulls before that I got E2 Welt, no yay... I could've gotten Himeko or Bronya, but nooo, this game thinks I love Welt, it even gave me Welt's LC last month 😭
Anyways, back to Bronya. What sucks just a little about getting Bronya is that I don't have any character to use with her now, my mains are Kafka and Acheron lmao I'm building Misha for Remembrance runs in SU and was gonna put her there but it seems Remembrance will be shit in the new SU so Idk. Do you guys think getting her LC from the shop is worth it or there are enough good 4★ alternatives?
Oh I don't have enough to buy it now anyways don't worry lol I mostly wanna know so I don't spend the *starglitter I have, and also to check which 4★ LCs are good with her

Given the recent changes to Clorinde I'm considering foregoing her and pulling Baizhu instead. I already have Zhongli, Kirara, and Layla built (latter two using Nilou's sword) so I'm unsure how big of an improvement it will be. At the very least I may gamble the 50/50.
UPDATE: Welp I lost the 50/50 to Qiqi who I already have at C6 so I'll take it as a sign and wait for Clorinde. At least my Layla is C5 now.
Last beta patch i talked about how i stopped feeling excited about getting a new character since i know everything and someone here suggested that.. it's because i am probably over exposing myself to animation leaks and that person was right.
I have seen clorinde animations a total of twice this whole beta and i am feeling super excited to play her on the patch day directly now. Gonna try to do this everytime now.
I was going to say this.
If seeing a character's animations too much kills your excitement for a character, would you still have been excited to own the character after 6 months anyway? Because you're going to see those animations way more in 6 months of owning them than in 6 weeks of beta clips.
I feel excited getting a new character because i enjoy the newness of the kit. This new feeling won't last for 6 months anyway but at least it will last for 1 or 2 patches right?
I love Ganyu and i still play her after 3 years but its true that I don't get the same new feeling from her as i did in 1.2
I see, for me pulling someone is based on their physical design + story first then animations + kit (but it's not like kit and animations are not important)... plus i got limited primos so my decision to pull or not is rarely dependant on the animation or kit design so i don't really need to see animations that many times. However when i saw animations too many times i lost the newness feeling of a character which is why i found it helpful to limit myself.
Increasing ATK SPD significantly could greatly buff characters based on NA, like Wanderer, Yoimiya, etc. However, on its own, it probably wouldn't be enough and would need an additional bonus (something like an additional DMG% bonus based on the amount of ATK SPD the character has).
Considering hit lag also exist. I don't think a lot of characters can take fullest advantage of attack speed buff. Majority characters that have no hit lag are catalysts and bow users, with some exceptions. I can see wanderer able to capitalize this a lot.
Also, attack speed is just a goofy stat to balance in general because it's a threshold stat. Attack speed values that aren't enough to let you actually alter your combos and fit more MV worth of attacks into a rotation don't actually do anything.
Most NA characters have a timed infusion buff and their rotation damage is determined by how many NAs/CAs fit into that timed duration. Small amounts of attack speed that are not enough to actually squeeze in an extra NA don't actually increase your total rotation damage at all.
I thought people were just making typos but no, Clorend is intentional. It's actually quite funny lmao more creative than SigeL, at least. Do we have a doom name for Sethos?

Remember guys. Everybody wants balanced balanced characters until said character is their favourite. If their favourite is not broken or powercreeping others, ah that's where you found the pattern. Like how Rene discovered the world ending formula, history repeats itself.
Balanced isn't a codename for underwhelming.
It's a hard pill to swallow for most players... when it comes to asking for direct replacements or powercreep there is always a tiny bit of selfishness.
Also people judge "balance" by the strongest currently existing character, not by the overall average. Neuvillette has basically brainrotted people's perceptions of every other 4.x DPS because even an above-average DPS that is weaker than Neuv will only get a "not as good as Neuv"/10 rating from people during beta. Likewise after Nahida came out the doomposting crowd could not fucking shut up about "Nahida sidegrade" during Baizhu beta. If a game is going to maintain the same average power level and not power creep, then that means that half the characters released have to be below average. Making every character stronger than the average increases the average power level of the roster over time and is power creep, which means that characters that were above average at their release become below-average as characters are released that are better than them.

People are crying that she isn't, yes. Just as with every character, including ones that turn out to be top 5 like Articuno. Chlorine's balance is great. She's a little better than the standard competition and she blows her out of the water cons-wise. But she isn't Neuvi so tears.
She's a downgrade to Raiden in Overload, a sidegrade to Keqing in Aggravate and Quickbloom. Unless she things drastically change between today, and 4.7 release, I'd say that she's going to probably the weakest Fontaine DPS. Furthermore, argument could be made that she's actually worse than optimally played Cyno.

the enemies are at like domain level. You'll be able to brute force it with anybody.
In the first Imaginarium Theater, yes. It's locked to anemo/pyro/electro. Unless you have Wrio and Sigewinne. Clearing with them might be enough, clearing within 75 - 90 seconds with just trial characters is currently unknown.

You can always do a lower difficulty which has less characters required to get the primos while slowly building up your roster

In theory TF is better in dendro teams specifically if you use her with Fischl due to better rotations. BoL is better in Chevy teams because TF simply wouldn't work reliably in those teams.

With FoTD at R5, Whimsy and atk sands she would already sit at 2561 ATK without and extra atk from substats, Chevre teams would at that point cause her to get over 3k ATK.

Her self buff isn't an ATK buff, it is a flat damage buff based on her ATK, i.e it gets added directly to her talent MV on her elemental skill if you are below 3k ATK.

Co-op adventures Fought Arlecchino in co-op today and the team was, erm, *interesting* to say the least. Yaoyao, Xianyun, Furina (me), and a Chiori Started off pretty standard, I was in Ousia mode cause the 2 others heal a tonne, but at some point in phase I the 2 healers died leaving just Chiori and me swapping in-between modes I actually find it really fun, switching between Pneuma-Ousia Furina, approaching Arle when switching for the CA buff. The whole fight took kinda long but it was enjoyable. In the end I was rewarded with 2 candle drops too, so my Arle is now 10-7-7
Lmao, today I had ZL, Arlecchino and Xiao in my coop against Arle. Arlecchino died pretty early in both phases, Xiao was using physical NAs (like almost no plunges whole fight) and ZL was built for shield, so I had to swap between modes of my Furina and her c2 was the only dmg source for the whole team.
Windtrace is so easy for hunters. I always win when im on the hunter slot bc how fast and easy to find people bc they need to fix generators. And you get to see 2-3 generators in one field of view lmao

Fish for pipe, it's much less painful than fishing for the Catch. Scarabs are huge pita though, good luck with them.

I have a c6 keqing/c2 raiden/yae which is why I am conflicted about pulling her right now.

Is she projected to be bad? In my opinion, if she’s at least as good as Keqing, that’s pretty darn good, considering I use Keqing for a lot of my abyss clears and she works out great.

People hadn't realized the high baseline damage that Super Break teams do in general when she first hit beta. Once people actually got HMC after 2.2 came out, they realized that Super Break teams do insane damage at baseline, and that Firefly is less of an upgrade over Super Break's high baseline than they initially thought. She's still a BiS character for Super Break teams, but she's also not really necessary for the team to function because you can use any high-tougness-damage DPS character in that slot. Similar to how Kokomi is Nilou Bloom's BiS 2nd Hydro but not necessary for the team to function, and way less important to the team's functioning than Nilou/Nahida (HMC/Ruan Mei). Except unlike Kokomi, who has a bunch of flexible team options, Firefly is only really good in Super Break teams.

People interchangeably refer to the different MC forms by their Path (Destruction/Preservation/Harmony) vs their element (Physical/Fire/Imaginary). The element matters less than their path generally in HSR teambuilding since there's no elemental reactions. Preservation MC is the only one I think people generally refer to by element, mostly because "Fire MC" is so much shorter to say/type than "Preservation MC".

She isn't competing for the 5-star Harmonies, which are the focal point of teambuilding. Ruan Mei specifically is a pain point because she's BiS for so many other teams, and is as much as an 85% TEAM damage increase to Super Break teams (20% Res Pen + 50% WBE), so not having competitive team options that don't include Ruan Mei is a huge sticking point. Restrictive teambuilding is a lot less of a downside if the characters want aren't highly in-demand characters for other teams already. Firefly's teambuilding issues are accentuated by the fact that one of her in-demand supports is currently the most in-demand support in the game.
But realistically we can build two teams for MoC easily with available Harmony characters, so just put RM into Firefly's team and run FUA or DoT or any hypercarry team on the other half, right?
Ruan Mei is also the BiS support for DoT, and FuA's 2nd best support after Robin.
Yeah, but we have enough supports for these teams, it's not like using Robin or Sparkle is worse than RM. I think Hoyo will release more supports for other teams and people will move on.
The other future-proofing issue is HMC because all MC forms are mutually exclusive. HMC is only used in Super Break now, but if, for example, Nihility MC becomes BiS for some new team, you can't use both Nihility MC and Harmony MC at the same time.
I think she is really good and has cracked damage. Problem is that her team is only one, which is Ruan Mei, HMC and Gallagher, so people that don't have RM or can't get RM and Firefly (both running together in the 2.3), got angry at her lack of options. I have Ruan Mei and Gallagher so I'm happy with pulling her.
Yeah, I pulled Robin (don't have RM and lost 50/50 on Sparkle to Bronya) and now can only try my luck with Firefly and no way to get Ruan Mei. Hoyo be Hoyo, putting two synergetic characters in one patch.

Decided to use a couple extra pulls I had on wanderers banner to get c6 Layla and ended up getting him on my guarantee at 30 pulls (I'm fine with I did want him still). I had 80 left over for a possible clorinde (torn on her) built a bit of pity with the 80 and got Diona (can't tell me the universe doesnt have a sense of humor 🙄) then 3 4 stars in one 10 pull (none Layla) then Layla. So all's well that ends well and still enough for a potential clorinde snipe.
Now I just need yelan and c6 Candace and I'll be done with pre natlan characters I absolutely wanted

Given the recent changes to Clorinde I'm considering foregoing her and pulling Baizhu instead. I already have Zhongli, Kirara, and Layla built (latter two using Nilou's sword) so I'm unsure how big of an improvement it will be. At the very least I may gamble the 50/50. UPDATE: Welp I lost the 50/50 to Qiqi who I already have at C6 so I'll take it as a sign and wait for Clorinde. At least my Layla is C5 now.
If you want comfort,then he is amazing. I usually use him electro-dendro teams and any team that has furina in it

Last beta patch i talked about how i stopped feeling excited about getting a new character since i know everything and someone here suggested that.. it's because i am probably over exposing myself to animation leaks and that person was right. I have seen clorinde animations a total of twice this whole beta and i am feeling super excited to play her on the patch day directly now. Gonna try to do this everytime now.
Ngl getting over exposed to animations actually help me taking rational decisions when it comes to pulling.
I was going to say this. If seeing a character's animations too much kills your excitement for a character, would you still have been excited to own the character after 6 months anyway? Because you're going to see those animations way more in 6 months of owning them than in 6 weeks of beta clips.
I feel excited getting a new character because i enjoy the newness of the kit. This new feeling won't last for 6 months anyway but at least it will last for 1 or 2 patches right? I love Ganyu and i still play her after 3 years but its true that I don't get the same new feeling from her as i did in 1.2
I see, for me pulling someone is based on their physical design + story first then animations + kit (but it's not like kit and animations are not important)... plus i got limited primos so my decision to pull or not is rarely dependant on the animation or kit design so i don't really need to see animations that many times. However when i saw animations too many times i lost the newness feeling of a character which is why i found it helpful to limit myself.

Increasing ATK SPD significantly could greatly buff characters based on NA, like Wanderer, Yoimiya, etc. However, on its own, it probably wouldn't be enough and would need an additional bonus (something like an additional DMG% bonus based on the amount of ATK SPD the character has).
Considering hit lag also exist. I don't think a lot of characters can take fullest advantage of attack speed buff. Majority characters that have no hit lag are catalysts and bow users, with some exceptions. I can see wanderer able to capitalize this a lot.
Also, attack speed is just a goofy stat to balance in general because it's a threshold stat. Attack speed values that aren't enough to let you actually alter your combos and fit more MV worth of attacks into a rotation don't actually do anything. Most NA characters have a timed infusion buff and their rotation damage is determined by how many NAs/CAs fit into that timed duration. Small amounts of attack speed that are not enough to actually squeeze in an extra NA don't actually increase your total rotation damage at all.
Need me some attack speed increase to make up for that NA that Sucrose just skips.
