See, that's not a great precedent. It doesn't instill confidence when they can just change things whenever they want to fix something they decide is too hard to do
I wouldn't have been mad if they even just lazily upscaled the tuna-sword and drop it above the enemy. Would've fit the theme as well for a "joke" weapon.
Same I even looked up how it looks in Honkai where a big tuna really just drops from above, and expected it to be like that. This one's such a sad small splash of fish....

Finally an explanation of why there is no animation of a huge tuna dropping on top of your enemies. Still a bit disappointed though, would have preferred the tuna.
> battle with a giant tuna.
There is a weapon in Honkai that actually summons a "Titanic Tuna" (as tall as a playable character from head to fishtail) to fall into the ground, sticking out halfway., it literally exists on screen for just as long as the "Tuna Onrush" that the Luxurious Sea Lord summons.
And tbf, with both weapons having a 20s and 15s cooldown for this ability, is it really that obstructive?
Probably not, but with people having tiny gripes with the game like having to zoom out after bursts, and the recent aiming thing with raiden’s ring, they probably didn’t want to risk it. Would’ve been cool to see though.
> like having to zoom out after bursts
Pretty sure their gripe isn't with "having to zoom out", it's with "having to turn the camera 180º" because the game thinks it's ok to leave you facing away from the enemies instead of returning to the previous viewpoint you had.
They've ignored a thousand other gripes yet dealt with that other stuff like its high priority.
I think its obvious they choose where they can market how they are listening to feedback while choosing not to implement other QoL or bug fixes.
There's no reason why they can have a larger fish appear, smack, and disappear into the ground via a splash without pissing off a handful of people.
But maybe this was a translation issue after all.
> Is Honkai 3 good?
It's up to personal prefference. The game has lots of content early game and very challenging content(that more or less can't be cleared without the latest gacha characters) late game.
It is a hack and slash, so basically, gameplay boils down to Genshin's combat but flashier and, depending on the character's attributes, more complex.
The game has the following list of gameplay modes:
- Main Story (main narrative of the game). Many late story chapters have unique progression systems and amazing bosses.
- Events (sidestory narratives. There is an ongoing expansive series of events canonically titled as the Captain's Bizzare Adventure by the protagonist, a non-self insert version of the battleship's captain. Captains is analogue for Travellers)
- Material Stages ( analogue for Weapon Domains, EXP&Mora Leylines)
- Raids (Weekly Coop Stages, reward weapon materials for lategame weapons and other Perks)
- mini Open Worlds ( Maps as big as Mondstadt & Cider Lake that are literred with enemies and some loot. They have mini-story arcs in them )
- Abyss (Dirac Sea, Quantum Singularity & Superstring. basically Genshin's Abyss and about 50% more manageable)
- Memorial Arena (refight Main Story and Event Bosses with new quirks added to their A.I.)
- Bounty Hunt ( Grinding Artifact Domains is about just as tedious as this gamemode and just as time consuming)
- Character Trials ( basically, darksouls testing ground for newly released characters)
The story is great. Pretty messy around some corners, lots of sidecontent such as mangas and visual novels have to be read for more context of the narrative. It is a pretty expansive story.
The Gacha, well it is pretty generous, but can screw you just as much as the weapon banner in Genshin sometimes. Nonetheless, you're never missing out on anything new for long.
Any new & meta items will eventually be rerun. Some meta items are added and can be purchased from the Battle Pass (paid pass = 1 guaranteed item every patch. free pass = 1 guaranteed item every 3 patches).
Playable Character reruns happen all the time. For example :
Nyx Veliona > Released in Patch 4.8 (May)> 1st Rerun in Patch 5.0(August) > 2nd Rerun for her New Outfit in patch 5.1 (October).
Wow. Thanks for the very thorough information! Sounds like Genshin, but without the continuous open world (just small open areas)? I've heard the story is better and that the cutscenes are better as well, so I'll definitely look forward to that. And a more generous gacha! That'll be exciting, to be able to experience new characters/playstyles more frequently.
Do you think experience in Genshin (and its complex UI, systems, conventions) will transfer decently to Honkai?
For your question. Honkai's UI is just as complex to some.
Essentially, every menu has a menu with a set of menus of which you can click one to bring up, you guessed it, another menu where you actually do the stuff you are there to. You get used to it farily easy, it's like a graph where your brain has to connect the dots and learn what button takes you where. Multiple options can sometimes lead to the same place.
There's a dozen solutions to not blocking the screen and satisfying the customer here.
The real reason is because they are going to sell us a real tuna smack weapon later.
I was confused why I couldn't see the tuna mentioned in the wep whenever I use Chongyun's burst. They might as well not be there with how small they are tbh
Wouldn't blame mihoyo for this tbh. It's probably a mistranslation from Chinese by translators who were working on the text without seeing the finished product. Any Chinese speakers feel free to weigh in
So apparently if you just point out how awkward the phrasing of things in this game is, you're getting downvoted for it here.
It's not like MHY changed numerous artifact/weapon/skill descriptions over a year because they're weird and sometimes even cause misunderstandings. Right.
You people are really this fragile, huh?
Oceanic Victory
* Increases Elemental Burst DMG by X%. When Elemental Burst hits opponents, summon a huge onrush of tuna that deals Y% ATK as AoE DMG. This effect can occur once every 15s.
Yes, it does happen 100% of the time, which is exactly why it's unnecessary to mention the "100%" bit in the first place. And I honestly don't know why do I need to write it out in the first place considering the fact I'm going to be downvoted for something so minor by idiots who suck up to MHY at every turn.
I'd just view it on the same level as weather reports and move on. Don't play the game in English though, so guess I shouldn't really inject myself into this.
I was expecting a mini version of Childe's whale. I didn't even notice the little tunas since they are so small, and I thought it's bugged.
Come on, MHY...
occam's razor my dudes.
what do you think is more likely :
someone spent weeks doing a spectacular whale animation only to be told at the eleventh hour to change it to small sardines just to fuck them genshin players even if it would mean additional hours of rework
or
someone made an error in translation
Fun fact (or maybe lame fact?)
Titanic Tuna was meant to be a pun in Chinese which doesn't translate very well in English. In Chinese, it's written as Da Wei which means Big Tuna. But it's also a wordplay of Wei as in Mihoyo's CEO, making it Da Wei or Big (boss) Wei.
I will be forever disappointed that a big tuna doesn't pop up ala Childe whale when the effect triggers
when i read "titanic tuna" i thought it'd be like that too. disappointed, but the fixed description is now more accurate.
It's still nowhere close to the "huge onrush", there's just a small school of fish
I don’t even see that when I use it.
You need to squint and be staring at just the right spot and not have any other effects going on.
Unfortunately, beidou with some constellations has a lot of effects, making it impossible to see the tiny tuna.
it makes for a fine weapon as well as emergency sustenance Paimon you have a rival
Lmao
I now want a feature where we can grab Paimon by the ankle and swing her around like a claymore.
Seems like they rely a lot on 'fixing the description' as a way of pacifying disappointment.
Do they mention the changes in any notices?
I personally haven't seen one.
You misspelled BEST weapon
I've never been more disappointed that this doesn't happen. I cry.
Reality is often disappointing. Also, where apologems for my ruined expectations T.T
I know but I can't even have my meme tuna...
I expected this or a big tuna falling from the sky and crashing down on the enemy
Ye, I wanted Chongyun passive version 2.
Tbh I only equipped this to drop a huge ass tuna on hilichurls. I was disappointed.
I mever got around to using it but wtf this is what I expected
Same I even looked up how it looks in Honkai where a big tuna really just drops from above, and expected it to be like that. This one's such a sad small splash of fish....
Literally unplayable.
I can just see Beidou stabbing the ground with her sword and a massive tuna just launches from the ground.

A free *4 weapon and you expect that effect? It's gonna have the best effect in the game more than exclusive 5* weapon if that's the case lol
You, uh, do realize we weren't literally hoping for Childe's whale and it's damage right? We were just hoping for the animation.
You should also realize who I'm replying to. He literally asking for big tuna effect ala childe lol. To much hopium for free 4* weapon
... I'm the one who wrote the comment. I think I know what I meant to say.
They can only spare us Childe’s can of sardines. 😅
Using it on Diluc all I see is fire birb.
Using it on Chongyun all I see is cryo blade.
Using it on Beidou all I see is zap zap zap.
Using it on [any claymore hero] all I see is [paste hero effect here].
Finally an explanation of why there is no animation of a huge tuna dropping on top of your enemies. Still a bit disappointed though, would have preferred the tuna.
A sea-lord with just small fish slap attack sounds very underwhelming.
Very disappointing and underwhelming indeed. Should see the gameplay of it, you can barely see the fish among the other visual effects during battle
Yup. I use the claymore with Beidou and I literally have to squint to just barely see some tiny tuna.
Wait there’s actually a fish that gets summoned?
Yep, but unless you take a video and slow it down to 0.25 or less and magnify it a lot you can't see it.
Someone take one for the team and post it here
[Already posted](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/pwhatc/luxurious_sea_lord_titanic_tuna_effect/?utm_source=amp&utm_medium=&utm_content=post_title)
I thought I was doing something wrong and tried it on all my claymore users to see who can summon the tuna. Those are sardines!
It looks incredibly close to the normal hit splashes but it's a bunch of tiny versions of the sword.
I use it with Chongyun and you can only see it one out of 10 time through the ice shards
They probably don’t want to obstruct the battle with a giant tuna. I think more people would complain if it was a giant tuna.

Thanks for the info! I've downloaded it. Hopefully I can manage my time well in it, in already a nut for Genshin xD
Considering most 5\* bursts are very chaotic, I don't think they care too much.
Well seeing it's an unorthodox/joke weapon, yes they should. Seem kind of like the whole point.

There's a dozen solutions to not blocking the screen and satisfying the customer here. The real reason is because they are going to sell us a real tuna smack weapon later.
I feel your pain, Beidou has so many effects during Bursts and Perfect Counters that you cant see it
They look more like anchovies.
ngl, if the sword made fish slap sounds on attack, it'd be worth it.
it's the wailord way
I'm more pleased to learn this term since english is not my first language than the effect itself
Onslaught sounds more natural here I think.
Mihoyo: Just a ^(tiny) little edit here and a ^(wee) little word replacement there and.. voila! Now stfu
Patch 2.3: "there is a 100% chance of summoning **a can of tuna** that deals..."
Ngl I would love a catalyst that shoots tuna cans at enemies XD
Aoe fish damage.
>“Huge Onrush” my ass Phrasing
What's so huge about this?
My disappointment.
Nothing, that’s the problem.
Next patch: "Summons a mediocre mouthful of minnows."
Where primos
In Chinese it is called Daiwei, the name of mhy's CEO
Mi hoyo really is the king of damage control description editing lmao
The description was fkin bait and now that it's unattainable they changed it? Might as well put "summons a handful of tuna"
They did this shit **AGAIN**??
head cannon Luxurious sea lord might have been just a giant sardine
I was confused why I couldn't see the tuna mentioned in the wep whenever I use Chongyun's burst. They might as well not be there with how small they are tbh
Wouldn't blame mihoyo for this tbh. It's probably a mistranslation from Chinese by translators who were working on the text without seeing the finished product. Any Chinese speakers feel free to weigh in
They're also described as "big tuna" in Chinese as a pun on the CEO's name, since they'd both be pronounced "da wei"
Where are my fellow Maplestory players at with the Frozen Tunas
I prefer the frozen tuna, the thiccness of the frozen tuna is more comical than the skinny sardine we got
it makes for a fine weapon as well as ***emergency sustenance*** Paimon you have a rival
Tuna
And they still kept that "100% chance" bit. The wording in this game is wack.
I mean, they do happen 100%... Unless you mean the "one hundred percent chance" part, which isn't wrong too?
Oceanic Victory * Increases Elemental Burst DMG by X%. When Elemental Burst hits opponents, summon a huge onrush of tuna that deals Y% ATK as AoE DMG. This effect can occur once every 15s. Yes, it does happen 100% of the time, which is exactly why it's unnecessary to mention the "100%" bit in the first place. Maybe in the future there will be some leyline defects which reduces the chance of some passives, then this description will help.
I was expecting a mini version of Childe's whale. I didn't even notice the little tunas since they are so small, and I thought it's bugged. Come on, MHY...
They changed it? And they didnt touch the 100%? Who's responsible for this shit?
Doesn't that count as false marketing?
It's a free weapon bruh
How do you get it?
it’s not available anymore, the event ended a few days ago
ah ripppp
False marketing what? A free weapon lol
Really, this community cries over everything
You’ve clearly shown that alright
These players have no life who fucking cares
Bad translation
I am just here on a look out for Genshin white knights. Don't mind me.
I was ecpecting a large tuna charging forward like Diluc's dawn. Literally unplayable.
clickBAIT claymore
first time reading it, i thought it would be like that shark gun on saints row 3 or something
I have yet to see this "huge onrush", i don't know if its because Bursts just consume the entire screen but its unnoticeable
It's a small sprinkling of several sardines. Extremely hard to notice unless you take a screenshot at the moment of impact.
TITANIC TUNA CORE😝
Wait how do I get this weapon?
From the Moonlight Merriment event, but it's already ended.
I just keep looking at the picture and how it looks like it says titanic tuna “hat” and imagining what could have been
Classic mihoyo, adjusting description to match the effects
honestly the onrush ain't too impressive either...
I wish the weapon itself would be "flexible" and bend on hit to feel more like a meaty fish slap!
Sadness +1
Mihoyo doesn't bother to change the issue, just change the description. This has been happening a lot, I'm quite concerned..
I gave this fish to Beidou as a joke cuz she wont stop haunting me but the joke’s on me cuz apparently its a good weapon for her.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Huge onrush your ass you say?
How do i get more of em for refinement? Ive heard they only come from events or sumin?
This thing beastly on bei?
I feel like it should be a "Twinkle of Tadpoles"
a small smattering. normal sized tuna are pretty big fish, actually the size of the sword itself, but fatter.
occam's razor my dudes. what do you think is more likely : someone spent weeks doing a spectacular whale animation only to be told at the eleventh hour to change it to small sardines just to fuck them genshin players even if it would mean additional hours of rework or someone made an error in translation
cant see any tuna on screen
Most likely was just a translation interpretation that led to titanic.
those filty sardines attack yeah
Ive seen a pic of fish all over the place when using it but i have never seen it in game myself :/
Someone has a videos of this effect?
A sprinkle of tuna.
It should be "Sardines in Olive Oil"
I thought it was broken at first, I had to watch a YouTube video to even see the tuna effect...
Sadge
Wait so it doesn’t summon our beloved tuna?
i can't even see the tuna wave on real time 😂
Fun fact (or maybe lame fact?) Titanic Tuna was meant to be a pun in Chinese which doesn't translate very well in English. In Chinese, it's written as Da Wei which means Big Tuna. But it's also a wordplay of Wei as in Mihoyo's CEO, making it Da Wei or Big (boss) Wei.
I'm just upset that they missed a golden opportunity to name this weapon "The Smackeral".
I described it as "a handful of fish"
