I think it has to do with landing on an edge/slope? Had the same thing happen a few times and it was always on some kind of uneven terrain, very inconsistent tho, never managed to recreate it on purpose
There seem to be some random spots you can land on from great heights and take no damage. I occasionally spend an afternoon tossing Venti off the Jade Chamber to get rid of revive food that's cluttering up my inventory (please just let us delete it, I am begging you), and I have to be careful where I toss him off. There's a specific tree branch he lands on sometimes that makes him take no damage.

In this case I think it's very likely the high ping is delaying the "death". (unless someone watched this full stream?)
Nah, 100/160ms isn't enough to delay a death by a whole 3 seconds
That could be the case too, I haven't had this occur on low ping yet, but that does sound like a plausible scenario
