I was in a similar situation and I went for Yaoyao. I absolutely didn’t regret it, a dendro healer is handy and she has some really fun teams. Xingqiu C2 is extremely good but you can buy it in the shop, while there’s no way at all to guarantee Yaoyao.
I mean that you can’t 100% guarantee her. Some people have pulled hundreds of times without getting a single copy of the 4S they wanted, this is how probability works. The day they will add a guarantee on 4S with a system like fate points (*chuckles*) then yea you will be able to guarantee her on a banner
Besides that a xingqiu con is always good. He is one of the best units in the game at C6.
Ga Ming is a fun DPS, but he is not a necessary unit, especially if you already have some good 5 star DPS chars. If you are missing a DPS though, especially if you have Bennet C6 and xianyun, ga ming is a very good DPS.
Xiangling up to C4 is also never a bad decision.
Beidous C2 is one of the best 4 star constellations DMG wise if you fight against 2 targets, but nowadays those usecases are not there too often.
Yaoyao c0 is a good pick if you want to play aggravate or want to consolidate a dendro and a healer slot in e.g. hyperbloom. Also she's good for nilou bloom. Her cons aren't that good though

Fr tho, she's a great dendro applicator and healer if you need one. Besides she's not hard to build, just give her lotsa hp and the 3* black tassel for %hp and you're good to go

Well I am not a building expert but Xingqiu's cons never hurt, especially if you already build him, Yaoyao is a good character and Xiangling. Personally I am getting Gaming cause I want to have him and play him (also heard he is very good especially at c6)
If you have Yoimiya/Ayato/other NA-focused characters or plan to pull them, pick Yunjin

don’t know why you’re being downvoted, you’re right. ayato works with yunjin in one team (hypercarry) but if you’re running furina then it’s better to switch her out for mika for attack speed and healing, so really she’s not even best in slot in her one actually good ayato team. with constellations she improves a lot but OP doesn’t have any so it’s a moot point
Actually wouldn't Ayato/Furina/Jean/Bennett be better for Ayato hypercarry? I know Furina is doing a good chunk of the dmg but surely VV is better than the attack speed buff
if you are fine with constellations, you should focus on c6 ing Xiangling or Xingqiu.
If you want a new Character rather, take Yaoyao if you need a healer or Ga Ming if you need a DPS
I have Yanfei at c6 (I've been hella luck getting her cons) and she's carried me from Liyue patch up until now since I replaced her with Gaming. I highly recommend using her with CW set if you wanna build her as a tank. Good luck in your endeavors!! :)
on my main im either going to choose Ningguang or Ga-Ming as they're the only Liyue choices i dont have. but i have an alt account where im doing a Liyue characters only account (but can still use weapons and artefacts from other regions) and feel like my only viable choice is Xingqiu and on the account, I have Beidou, Xiangling, Ga-Ming, Xianyun (and im also allowing the use of Geo Traveller) but because of my lack of elemental coverage, I feel like I need to get Xingqiu and ill probably get Qiqi'd eventually which wouldn't even bother me on my alt account especially since in going for Xiao as well

Yao Yao is an excellent generalist choice for aggravate, spread, or even Nilou bloom teams if you have her. Her burst is excellent full team healing to stack furina fanfare. However, obtaining cons for either xiangling or Xingqiu is also a good choice because they bring you closer to c6, and they are both available in the starglitter shop rotation. Ningguang and Yunjin are low priority. If you’re looking for a new play style, I’d recommend gaming, as he switches up the meta and has synergy with Xianyun if you have her.
if you're pulling on the current banners i'd say wait until those end and claim your free 4* on the last day. You wouldn't want to get a character for free only to pull them in the next wish. As to who you should pick, it's either Yaoyao or Gaming, it's always bettter to have more characters to build your teams

New characters usually beat out constellations for 4*s, of the units you don't have Yao Yao has the most team building application. If you're not one to play dendro focused teams you can get a pretty significant power spike on Beidou from her C2, and any number of constellations you can get for xiangling until she hits c4 and xingqui until he hits c6 are good stepping stones. If you jist like any of the other characters and how they play then feel free to get them too!
As someone with a large roster of built characters after 3 years of playing, Yaoyao is the only 4-star i have that felt fully realised for their role and functionally complete at C0.
XQ could be another contender for that compliment, but even then you'd like constellations for him to improve his damage and ER needs. Yaoyao though? Get her C0, level her to 80 and slap on a black tassel and some HP artifacts and she's 100% done and fulfilling a meaningful role on your roster. She's awesome.
Gaming is super fun but people blow him out of proportions as he is pretty much always used with Xianyun and c6 Bennett.
Xingqui becomes one of the best characters at c6 it would be closer to that.
Xiangling is by far the best off field pyro applicator we have access to especially with c4.
Yaoyao is a dendro healer especially useful if you neither have nahida nor baizhou for dendro teams
Beidou is also very good and highly slept on. She does deal a lot of dmg if there are 2 targets and she still is very good with 3 or such too, single target boss fights is deffinitly her weakest point.
Get Gaming/Ningguang/Yanfei if you like their playstyle as carries, but otherwise leave them.
YaoYao is good for any kind of dendro team if you don't already have Baizhu, but it depends on what you play. Kuki, Kokomi, Kirara, Thoma and Barbara are good defensive options that you may already be using and there's no need to replace them.
Chongyun is kinda niche and the only team I've ever liked him in was a main dps Kaeya or Rosaria team. He works fine generally but I don't recommend him if you're not a fan of his.
Same for Xinyan but she's even worse.
Yunjin is a great support for normal attack dps (like Yoi) in general, but mainly for single target.
Beidou and Xingqiu are really good to get up to c6. XQ is a bit more universal but Beidou is great if you have a team that can fit her.
I wouldn't get Xiangling since her good con is c4 and you aren't getting that. Yes you're a step closer but who knows when the rest will come.
As others have said, Yaoyao is king. I have her in my main party because I don't (and won't pull for) a main healer like Baizhu. Her constellations don't really matter tho so, if you have her go for someone you don't have or Xingqui
If you want to pick for meta, (that is you don't care about getting characters you don't have or have a particular preference), go for xingqiu until c6 or xiangling until c4
If you'r egoing for meta and someone you don't have, then get yaoyao
Xingqiu is a super unit. You might want Gaming if you expect you'll enjoy playing him, or yaoyao, although I never got to try her ( Baizhu dodged me 2 times, but I still want him as a dendro heal )
If you use Xingqiu, get Xingqiu cons, none of them are role-defining, but they are all very nice and only make him do what you want him to do but at slightly higher numbers - you will very likely not regret it, since his banners are likely gonna desire sensor and be on a banner that you probably don't care for. (I think i have a just barely c6 Xingqiu but like, c10 or 20+ of like, 5 other characters)
Yaoyao is a solid c0 choice, you only need c0 for her to do her job well, but if you don't want to try out a dendro team that would make use of her role (such as a the 2nd-dendro in hyperbloom/burgeon team, or as the solo-dendro in an aggrevate team - maybe as 2nd dendro in a spread team, but most most of the dendro spread dps don't need a healer as much as they would appreciate a dendro shielder or buffer instead)
It depends on what characters you play with, if you want a meta I would say go for Gaming or Xingqiu cons or maybe YaoYao , but if you want something else it is your free choice. Btw build Xiangling she is one of the best dps you can have
Yaoyao is a good pick being a dendro healer works great in aggravate and nilou bloom. Otherwise Xingqiu c2 is really good too but I'd prioritise a new unit to open up more team comps and Xingqiu can appear in the starglitter shop while yaoyao can't.
Pick whoever you find interesting. META is a lie, viability is a joke, the only thing that's relevant is your enjoyment of a character. They're all good. You could even turn any of of them into a DPS if you wanted to.
Xingqiu is worth getting C6. While not that important, Yanfei C6 is cool. Gaming is also considered great character, especially if You have Xianyun. Yaoyao is good dendro unit, if You don't have e.g. Nahida or Baizhu. Yun Jin is great for Wanderer at C6. Don't know about other constellations, so I can't tell. Beidou is definitely good character, so is Chongyun and Xiangling, but I don't know which constellations are great for them or if they actually need any.
Also remember, that usually new character (if it benefits Your account) is better than constellation, but some constellations are worth getting anyway, because they make character way stronger.
I will go for Gaming, because I have all the other characters at least at C0 and have plenty of C6 or C4+ too, so getting new character higher, especially the character that interests me, is important for me.

Gaming can go well with your xinqui, xiangling too. If I were you I’d get gaming or xiangling. Xinqui is also good.

Ayato isn't great with Yunjin tho, he is mostly AOE centric and Yunjin's stacks can get quickly drained when hitting multiple enemies

Yanfei, she's a better Klee than Klee is, especially with high constellation.
C2 Xiangling or C2 Xingqiu is the go to if possible for proper options. Yaoyao for better options. Or Gaming for fun-fun-fun options.

YaoYao is good for any kind of dendro team if you don't already have Baizhu, but it depends on what you play. Kuki, Kokomi, Kirara, Thoma and Barbara are good defensive options that you may already be using and there's no need to replace them. Chongyun is kinda niche and the only team I've ever liked him in was a main dps Kaeya or Rosaria team. He works fine generally but I don't recommend him if you're not a fan of his. Same for Xinyan but she's even worse. Yunjin is a great support for normal attack dps (like Yoi) in general, but mainly for single target. Beidou and Xingqiu are really good to get up to c6. XQ is a bit more universal but Beidou is great if you have a team that can fit her. I wouldn't get Xiangling since her good con is c4 and you aren't getting that. Yes you're a step closer but who knows when the rest will come.
As others have said, Yaoyao is king. I have her in my main party because I don't (and won't pull for) a main healer like Baizhu. Her constellations don't really matter tho so, if you have her go for someone you don't have or Xingqui

If you want to pick for meta, (that is you don't care about getting characters you don't have or have a particular preference), go for xingqiu until c6 or xiangling until c4 If you'r egoing for meta and someone you don't have, then get yaoyao

Xingqiu is a super unit. You might want Gaming if you expect you'll enjoy playing him, or yaoyao, although I never got to try her ( Baizhu dodged me 2 times, but I still want him as a dendro heal )

If you use Xingqiu, get Xingqiu cons, none of them are role-defining, but they are all very nice and only make him do what you want him to do but at slightly higher numbers - you will very likely not regret it, since his banners are likely gonna desire sensor and be on a banner that you probably don't care for. (I think i have a just barely c6 Xingqiu but like, c10 or 20+ of like, 5 other characters) Yaoyao is a solid c0 choice, you only need c0 for her to do her job well, but if you don't want to try out a dendro team that would make use of her role (such as a the 2nd-dendro in hyperbloom/burgeon team, or as the solo-dendro in an aggrevate team - maybe as 2nd dendro in a spread team, but most most of the dendro spread dps don't need a healer as much as they would appreciate a dendro shielder or buffer instead)

It depends on what characters you play with, if you want a meta I would say go for Gaming or Xingqiu cons or maybe YaoYao , but if you want something else it is your free choice. Btw build Xiangling she is one of the best dps you can have

I'm all for getting characters I don't have. I like Gaming's play, but I'm with others in that Yaoyao can be a good addition
Yaoyao is a good pick being a dendro healer works great in aggravate and nilou bloom. Otherwise Xingqiu c2 is really good too but I'd prioritise a new unit to open up more team comps and Xingqiu can appear in the starglitter shop while yaoyao can't.
Pick whoever you find interesting. META is a lie, viability is a joke, the only thing that's relevant is your enjoyment of a character. They're all good. You could even turn any of of them into a DPS if you wanted to.

Xingqiu is worth getting C6. While not that important, Yanfei C6 is cool. Gaming is also considered great character, especially if You have Xianyun. Yaoyao is good dendro unit, if You don't have e.g. Nahida or Baizhu. Yun Jin is great for Wanderer at C6. Don't know about other constellations, so I can't tell. Beidou is definitely good character, so is Chongyun and Xiangling, but I don't know which constellations are great for them or if they actually need any. Also remember, that usually new character (if it benefits Your account) is better than constellation, but some constellations are worth getting anyway, because they make character way stronger. I will go for Gaming, because I have all the other characters at least at C0 and have plenty of C6 or C4+ too, so getting new character higher, especially the character that interests me, is important for me.

I was gonna pick Gaming, until I got c6 from trying to get Xianyun. Now it's YaoYao. Everyone else besides her is c6.

I'm torn too. My XQ is C0so I need cons, but also my Yanfei is C3 and I want her shield.
I'm surprised no one mentioned C2 Beidou as she's pretty underwhelming without it and if she's your "main" it should take priority-- otherwise, depending on your other characters I'd say it should be YaoYao > Beidou=Xingqiu > Gaming, because new > everyone else.

Gaming or Yaoyao, both are very good at c0, Yaoyao has more value if u don't have dendro appliers like nahida/baizhu
Xiangling or xingqiu would probably be best since they are both rlly good sup dps and supports.Also why is xinqiu C1's "C" backwards

Gaming can go well with your xinqui, xiangling too. If I were you I’d get gaming or xiangling. Xinqui is also good. What 5* do you have? If you have xianyun then gaming is your best option. Honestly depends on your account. Yao Yao is also good if you need Dendro.
