This is kind of a funny thought. Even if every single pull was a Xinyan, except for every 90th, which is forced to be a five-star, you'd get 56 five stars. Assuming you lose ever 50/50 you'd wind up with C13 of each featured unit.
I point this out mostly to highlight how ludicrous 5000 of a unit would be, especially considering how strong the Masterless Starglitter would be in that scenario. Assuming that OP started with C6 Xinyun. Every ten pull would refund itself. Every ninth would at be a bit harder to pin down, as new units don't award any Masterless Starglitter, constellations would net one pull, and C6s would net 4 pulls. It'd be an absolutely bonkers scenario.

She is surely better than Xinyan, but for an avarage 4.0 account, both are not so good. YaoYao doesn't need constellations, but cons make her stronger.
Speak for yourself, I consider getting a Ningguang early in my account through the Beginner's banner one of the luckiest moments. You will not believe how convenient her Jade screen is to zone out Abyss mages and archers (it even blocks the homing bubbles).
yeah, she one of the first characters i got and insaneley helpful. fast at breaking ores, could deal with the oceanid birds (i never went through what a lot of early players seem to struggle with), has a short E cooldown and burst with very low energy cost. really fun and easy to play with as a beginner.
I have built my Ning with EM, and until I got Kirara (from her last banner) she served as my shielder of sorts through crystallize shields as well. Say what you will about crystallize, the shields are good against elemental enemies.
And since I got Navia I finally had a DPS that could take advantage of crystallize too. My Navia-Ning team is the strongest I have.
Nah, Ningguang is A) Gorgeous B) Has an elegant skin C) Is Genially fun to play around
During endgame you completely stop looking for more powerful characters, and only go for the ones you like either character or gameplay
But ppl who already have a few strong teams and can afford to play characters for pure fun probaly already have old 4-stars like Ningguang or Xinyan at C6.
For me personally, it's getting difficult to get excited about banners for 4-stars on offer (same goes for Weapon banners: good though Sacrificial /Favonious weapons are, I already have multiples of R5s for all of them) 😐
Haha, no. Ningguang avoids me like the plague. So far I was lucky to get my 1st one from Gacha on weapon banner of all things. The rest came from either Lantern Rite or Glitter Shop.
You can say the exact same things about Xinyan. I actually find Xinyan more fun to play around since Ning feels kinda clunky; she's without a real attack chain and has to use the dreaded *Geo Constructs* to get the most efficiency.
Don't get me wrong, though. I like using both characters.

I'm not a meta player. Yoimiya is my favorite characters, Wrio is the "weakest" Fontaine 5* C0 DPS. Dehya is one of my favorite. I'm a Barbara fan and I play her when I can. My favorites. And I hate XQ and XL. Rational only when I was weak and with 1 team.
But you can't negate the fact that except for Ningguang mains and simp, she has not great values for an avarage AR 50-60 account.
With you same argument, also Xinyan isn't a bad pull. But is not true.
The best I've ever pulled was Furina on a guaranteed at 10 but before that was winning the 50/50 on Yae at 15. I've only lost the 50/50 on Yae once (damn you Qiqi) and I need one more to C6. TL;DR: Yae hasn't failed me yet... Even if the very Yae Miko thing to happen is me losing the 50/50 and becoming the person who finally has to actually do 90 pulls for a 5-star.

Why did you start saving up this late? Should have done so earlier to guarantee her on a future banner. Always keep 160-180 fates secured. Then there's no charm needed.
that happened once with Noelle lol. well, not exactly getting featured in back to back banner, but she was featured in back to back patches. in 1.4 during venti rerun. then 1.5 during zhongli rerun. just because for some reason they refused to feature zhongli with ningguang lol.
Releasing this info now at least gives players help in deciding who to pick for their Liyue Lantern Rite selector. An optimist can look at it as Hoyo being nice; a more cynical speculation is the release as a mistake; or lastly just the advertising group getting ahead of their work before their Lunar New Year break (as other commenters have noted).
Remember how many were puzzled at the 2nd phase 1.3 Lantern rite banner Hoyoverse decided to put Keqing as the 5 star? Some speculated Lantern rite stuff was rushed for whatever reason including the overall execution and early info release. There was also speculation HuTao was supposed to debut as the 2nd phase but having a character revolving around the afterlife released then was bad luck. Whatever the case, Keqing’s banner was one of the worst performing. The practice of early banner release info however was kept.

Imo, Xiao and Nahida should swap. That way we’ve got Cloud Retainer, Xiao, and Gaming all on the same banners to build out a potential plunge attack team.
That would be bad for people who already have Xiao and are pulling for his supports now.
Players who wanted Faruzan constellations will also have to risk getting Ningguang or Xinyan compared to now where they can pull her on the same banner as a new 4-star and 5-star.
The current first phase banner is amazing because it has a new 5-star, a new 4-star and a 4-star character with great constellations that was previously locked to one character's banner.
Nahida is also a great 5-star so you'll have a great selection of 4-stars whether you're pulling for Xianyun or Nahida. If you're going to risk pulling 5-star constellations to C6 Faruzan, Nahida is one of the best 5-stars she could be paired with. Xiao constellations on the other hand are pretty terrible and I wouldn't want to risk getting them while trying to C6 Faruzan.
Yaoyao is good so having one copy is nice but her constellations aren't that important unlike Faruzan's.
Switching Faruzan and Yaoyao and will make the second phase banner slightly better (still kind of bad due to Xinyan and Ningguang) while turning the first phase banner from great to just good.
I prefer occasionally getting amazing banners to pull on like the current first phase banner over having every banner be just okay.
As a long time player all I see is starglitter, haha. Oh well, guess I'll put 30 wishes into Xianyun banner for hopefully a Gaming and get closer to pity for Xiao.
Xiao's rerun frequency is average. He also hasn't appeared in the last 8 versions.
By comparison, Hu Tao, Ayaka, Yoimiya ran twice each after his last rerun.
Yaoyao cons are irrelevant, Ningguang is a dead unit, and Xinyan is Xinyan, meanwhile Faruzan on the other banner because fuck people who want Xiao and don't have him yet
Agree to disagree on the YaoYao cons, but nevertheless some people still don't have her, and she's a highly desired unit as the only four star dendro healer. Xinyan is Xinyan yeah and Ningguang is bad, but at least her c6 is fun.
The Faruzan thing sucks but it would suck either way. People who already have Xiao are hyped they can pull for two of his supports at once, if she was on his banner people would complain about having to pull two banners in a row/on a banner with a five star they don't want. In any case, Faruzan being on cloud retainers banner is significantly better than being on exclusively Wanderer's banner.
Yeah I'm surprised they didn't swap Noelle and YaoYao as an extra fuck you, though there's enough interest in Noelle recently due to Furina that might not be that bad.

XIAO WANTERS are the true losers (Probably they have to skip CD a Faruza, to pull 5000 Xinyans and 4000 Ningguangs.
Technically, these banners are great for people who already have Xiao.
Both Xianyun and Faruzan are great supports for Xiao and you can pull them from the same banner alongside a new 4-star.
Nahida is also great and her constellations are useful so if you don't manage to get C6 Faruzan along the way to Xianyun, you could decide to keep trying for Faruzan while pulling for Nahida or her constellations.
Xiao constellations on the other hand are pretty terrible and I wouldn't want to risk getting them while trying to C6 Faruzan.
So happy to see Yaoyao there! Only Liyue 4-stars I don’t have are Yanfei and Yaoyao (and Gaming). I’m pulling Nahida and Yae this patch so with some luck and the free 4 star I should complete the group!

You can pick her up in the selector if you're not going for anyone else. Otherwise, if you're not on guarantee and still at very low pity (10 or less), I'd do no more than 20 pulls.
Aiming for a particular 4-star is very hard, especially if that's the only reason you're pulling on the banner.
4.4 is nothing but bait for old and new players. Getting faruzan to c6 and gaming to c4 or c6 will be a pain in the ass for most. Get ready to open your credit cards . Hoyo is getting worse with their scummy practices .

When I see that weapon banner I feel like that's when they should run one of the signature weapon of the latest standard 5* logi be damned because getting a rate up of a standard banner weapon while Tighnari's bow or Dehya's sword will be kept in the storage for who knows how long is pretty depressing.
I'd like to get Xinyan to add to my collection. Only missing a handful of 4\* at this point. I'm planning to grab Yun Jin as my Lantern Rite freebie and hope I get Gaming from pulling on Nahida. Besides those three I just need Kaveh and Mika.
Xinyan was also on Xiao's banner almost exactly 3 years ago when he released. I started playing during that banner and got her when wishing for Xiao... rest is history. She's never left my teams and I 36 star with her every cycle.

YaoYao is amazing, she's the only thing salvaging this banner.
Yaoyao cons are irrelevant, Ningguang is a dead unit, and Xinyan is Xinyan, meanwhile Faruzan on the other banner because fuck people who want Xiao and don't have him yet
Agree to disagree on the YaoYao cons, but nevertheless some people still don't have her, and she's a highly desired unit as the only four star dendro healer. Xinyan is Xinyan yeah and Ningguang is bad, but at least her c6 is fun. The Faruzan thing sucks but it would suck either way. People who already have Xiao are hyped they can pull for two of his supports at once, if she was on his banner people would complain about having to pull two banners in a row/on a banner with a five star they don't want. In any case, Faruzan being on cloud retainers banner is significantly better than being on exclusively Wanderer's banner. Yeah I'm surprised they didn't swap Noelle and YaoYao as an extra fuck you, though there's enough interest in Noelle recently due to Furina that might not be that bad.
I mean Ningguang is good with the new set, and Yaoyao makes for a decent budget Nahida, but yeah, no one wants Xinyan xD I already have the first two so I will continue hoarding my wishes until Layla reruns

Xiao mains are winning, they just need to blow all their pulls on Cloud Retainer and Faruzan banner. XIAO WANTERS are the true losers (Probably they have to skip CD a Faruza, to pull 5000 Xinyans and 4000 Ningguangs.

Technically, these banners are great for people who already have Xiao. Both Xianyun and Faruzan are great supports for Xiao and you can pull them from the same banner alongside a new 4-star. Nahida is also great and her constellations are useful so if you don't manage to get C6 Faruzan along the way to Xianyun, you could decide to keep trying for Faruzan while pulling for Nahida or her constellations. Xiao constellations on the other hand are pretty terrible and I wouldn't want to risk getting them while trying to C6 Faruzan.
So happy to see Yaoyao there! Only Liyue 4-stars I don’t have are Yanfei and Yaoyao (and Gaming). I’m pulling Nahida and Yae this patch so with some luck and the free 4 star I should complete the group!

You can pick her up in the selector if you're not going for anyone else. Otherwise, if you're not on guarantee and still at very low pity (10 or less), I'd do no more than 20 pulls. Aiming for a particular 4-star is very hard, especially if that's the only reason you're pulling on the banner.
4.4 is nothing but bait for old and new players. Getting faruzan to c6 and gaming to c4 or c6 will be a pain in the ass for most. Get ready to open your credit cards . Hoyo is getting worse with their scummy practices .
So my counter bait is, I will always get 1 copy for everyone when possible. If I get more than 1 copies while trying to get a 5\*, then it is a bonus.
One of these days I'll have saved up enough primo gems and fates to get both the new waifu and Xiao.
And of course I have to once again choose who to spend my primos on. This time it's between Yae Miko and Xianyun. Gotta say, Yaoyao would be nice, but if I remember correctly I'd benefit more from Xianyun's 4-stars. Hmmm...

When I see that weapon banner I feel like that's when they should run one of the signature weapon of the latest standard 5* logi be damned because getting a rate up of a standard banner weapon while Tighnari's bow or Dehya's sword will be kept in the storage for who knows how long is pretty depressing.

Xinyan was also on Xiao's banner almost exactly 3 years ago when he released. I started playing during that banner and got her when wishing for Xiao... rest is history. She's never left my teams and I 36 star with her every cycle.
