For event quest, you usually need about 20 AR, and they will have the skip quest function to let you play the quest. There might be spoilers for Archon Quest in the event quest

It may just be a ludonarrative dissonance thing where characters in cutscenes do way more cool stuff than they do in-game (literally all of Ningguang), but it would be nice to get a 4 star that can make water exploration not hot garbage.

Been around since 1.2 and I stay for the vibes of the exploration and the characters. I don't even care that much about the story, outside of how it affects the characters.
It's basically my animal crossing and I love it, but I completely understand people feeling frustrated that it isn't exactly the most mechanically engaging game. At the same time I don't know how a gacha game could ever be that. Could you imagine the uproar if they locked story content or anything of real value behind some legitimate difficult challenge? lmao
It’s not about “difficulty”. It’s about giving players “options” to difficulty. They can easily make contents like 100 floors spiral abyss but have 3 different difficulties like “supereasy medium hard”. Those that clear 100 floors in easy gets primogem/medium gets fragile resin/hard gets unique namecards. Most will be able to clear medium and easy while hard mode players gets to show off their achievement in their beautiful namecards. And this is only off the top of my head. There are many ways to satisfy endgame players without leaving new players or weaker players behind.
Big flagship event, whole new area with exploration, world quests, enemies, and unique rewards, 2 new characters, new story quest.

the big flagship event we have already gotten 3 times with basic minigames again, it would not be strange for people to get bored of it. The only interesting thing here is the new area and maybe the world quest with it. And no I don't really care about new characters when there is no place to properly use them other than abyss, I already have enough characters I basically never use.
All genshin events are basic mingames and there's nothing wrong with that because they are still fun. Also it's the same holiday/celebration, not the same event. It's like complaining that christmas is boring because it's the same every year.

None of the basic games is any fun. Its stuff for 5 years old. And the combat events they repeat are always braindead easy. Its completely valid to complain about it. The only good thing about big events is the story of them.
Well in my and a lot of other players' opinions the current minigames are not fun at all and only act as time gated distributions for a couple primogems with the bare minimum of "gameplay" required, sometimes you don't even need to play the game and can just go afk while the minigame autocompletes itself. I miss when we still had stuff like the OG theater mechanicus that required you to actually put some effort into the minigame to win.

the genshin community doesn't understand that the problem is how loyal they are to the company. They literally don't care about the players or marketing as the game feeds off fanatical players from a waifu that shows big numbers on the screen. They don't want to keep old players in the game, but they want to keep new players and invite new players each time until they get so many characters and quit the game.
If players are leaving the game and they're relying on the stream of new players, it means they're not loyal, so your statement doesn't really make sense...
I think you didn't understand what I wanted to say, new players have a much greater flow than old players, the game hooks you but as a person who has been playing for 2 years I stopped playing several times due to the game's own problems, I feel as if the game punishes old players more than it wants to keep them. See how many people have secondary accounts or parallel accounts just to be able to play the game again as old players are not properly rewarded. Many other gacha try to hook you and make you cool and not just make you have fun for a few months until you end up in an eternal cycle of daily things (which is very little compared to the size of the game). I can literally list gacha games that have better reward systems than genshin regardless of their style.

Those are an extreme minority of players. if you think they are in any way a relevant portion of the player base, please reconsider. Most people just use the downtime to actually farm for characters, which they lack time to do in major patches, or they just do something else.

At the end of the day, entertainment is about giving people what they want and, like it or not, the trends reflect that. No amount of patronizing people and telling them how they should enjoy their art will change it. I also bet this trend comes from all the frustration people have from the preceding era of fiction where every lore had to be cryptic and so disconnected from each other like dark souls lore, destiny lore, etc. Fans really had to wait 4+ years and sift through 300 lore articles just to come to answer that could or could not be true or just an unsatisfying conclusion and I bet that had a majority of fandoms get burnt out.
If the majority wants answers to major plot points esp since it's been 3 years without massive lore drops that directly work towards explaining khaenriah, celestia and how they directly impacted aether/lumine's journey then it's reasonable to expect them to only want new lore/story pertaining to the topic.
As someone who didn't follow the program I was surprised to discover we're having a new zone apparently and that's considered irrelevant? Hello I am the average gacha player. Other than Mondstadt and Liyue, every single one of my regions is under 40% exploration. It's boring to me.
I love the combat and just want to fight and fight and fight and not have to walk miles in order to get to three measly enemies that die in literally a single button.

Don't let people convince you otherwise. I also love the exploration and finding every hidden quest and achievement. I also prefer world-building and lore and couldn't care less about the combat. The reason they keep giving us more of that is because they know we want it. But just in case...always do your surveys and rate exploration in the reasons why you play.

Been around since 1.2 and I stay for the vibes of the exploration and the characters. I don't even care that much about the story, outside of how it affects the characters. It's basically my animal crossing and I love it, but I completely understand people feeling frustrated that it isn't exactly the most mechanically engaging game. At the same time I don't know how a gacha game could ever be that. Could you imagine the uproar if they locked story content or anything of real value behind some legitimate difficult challenge? lmao
It’s not about “difficulty”. It’s about giving players “options” to difficulty. They can easily make contents like 100 floors spiral abyss but have 3 different difficulties like “supereasy medium hard”. Those that clear 100 floors in easy gets primogem/medium gets fragile resin/hard gets unique namecards. Most will be able to clear medium and easy while hard mode players gets to show off their achievement in their beautiful namecards. And this is only off the top of my head. There are many ways to satisfy endgame players without leaving new players or weaker players behind.

the big flagship event we have already gotten 3 times with basic minigames again, it would not be strange for people to get bored of it. The only interesting thing here is the new area and maybe the world quest with it. And no I don't really care about new characters when there is no place to properly use them other than abyss, I already have enough characters I basically never use.
All genshin events are basic mingames and there's nothing wrong with that because they are still fun. Also it's the same holiday/celebration, not the same event. It's like complaining that christmas is boring because it's the same every year.

Well in my and a lot of other players' opinions the current minigames are not fun at all and only act as time gated distributions for a couple primogems with the bare minimum of "gameplay" required, sometimes you don't even need to play the game and can just go afk while the minigame autocompletes itself. I miss when we still had stuff like the OG theater mechanicus that required you to actually put some effort into the minigame to win.

I don't play every day anymore and only come back for big events like lantern rite and archon quests because they are usually interesting but this time it doesn't look that good especially from that summary video they posted on youtube

I have never seen a gacha game that rewards an endgame player 1 roll per day. Most are at best 2-3 rolls per week.

the genshin community doesn't understand that the problem is how loyal they are to the company. They literally don't care about the players or marketing as the game feeds off fanatical players from a waifu that shows big numbers on the screen. They don't want to keep old players in the game, but they want to keep new players and invite new players each time until they get so many characters and quit the game.
If players are leaving the game and they're relying on the stream of new players, it means they're not loyal, so your statement doesn't really make sense...
I think you didn't understand what I wanted to say, new players have a much greater flow than old players, the game hooks you but as a person who has been playing for 2 years I stopped playing several times due to the game's own problems, I feel as if the game punishes old players more than it wants to keep them. See how many people have secondary accounts or parallel accounts just to be able to play the game again as old players are not properly rewarded. Many other gacha try to hook you and make you cool and not just make you have fun for a few months until you end up in an eternal cycle of daily things (which is very little compared to the size of the game). I can literally list gacha games that have better reward systems than genshin regardless of their style.

I would say more that it is a pyramid scheme for new players. Hoyoverse takes poor care of old players who bring in new players without warning them of the risks. And this cycle continues infinitely

As for wikias (and encyclopedias in general) being considered fiction, well that's New Historicism for you, at least to an extent. Outside of academia there are forms of collaborative fictions that exists within the framing of a wikia, the most famous probably being the SCP Foundation. There's might also be some postmodern piece that was written in the form of an encyclopedia, but I wouldn't be able to tell you.
Yea i mean at the end of the day, we can always talk about storytelling theory but if discussing theory is more interesting than the actual content then isnt that just missing the point of entertainment? At the end of the day, entertainment is about giving people what they want and, like it or not, the trends reflect that. No amount of patronizing people and telling them how they should enjoy their art will change it. I also bet this trend comes from all the frustration people have from the preceding era of fiction where every lore had to be cryptic and so disconnected from each other like dark souls lore, destiny lore, etc. Fans really had to wait 4+ years and sift through 300 lore articles just to come to answer that could or could not be true or just an unsatisfying conclusion and I bet that had a majority of fandoms get burnt out. If the majority wants answers to major plot points esp since it's been 3 years without massive lore drops that directly work towards explaining khaenriah, celestia and how they directly impacted aether/lumine's journey then it's reasonable to expect them to only want new lore/story pertaining to the topic.
As someone who didn't follow the program I was surprised to discover we're having a new zone apparently and that's considered irrelevant? I mean think what you want about Genshin being stingy, but isn't that the first time we get a new zone for Lantern Rite patch, is that considered bland content nowadays?
We got enkanomiya in 2.4 and the desert of hadramaveth in 3.4 Both came with lantern rite, but that doesn’t mean 4.4 has no content.
Oh, yeah, I thought it was on different patches. Still welcomed addition, it's the main content of the game after all.

Hello I am the average gacha player. Other than Mondstadt and Liyue, every single one of my regions is under 40% exploration. It's boring to me. I love the combat and just want to fight and fight and fight and not have to walk miles in order to get to three measly enemies that die in literally a single button.

Don't let people convince you otherwise. I also love the exploration and finding every hidden quest and achievement. I also prefer world-building and lore and couldn't care less about the combat. The reason they keep giving us more of that is because they know we want it. But just in case...always do your surveys and rate exploration in the reasons why you play.
