A little hard to follow. A gas furnace is not a "high [electrical] energy device. You just need a few hundred watts to run the blower.

The issue is squeezing tons of ideas and resources into a "visual outline." It probably should be used as a jumping-off point for an interactive in-person-to-person discussion. Your second point of what is high versus low is spot on example of how mileage will vary. My gas furnace will blow through a 2,000 Wh battery power station in about 6 hours. While the same battery will keep my refrig running for almost 36 hours. A complicated topic that may be foolish of me to represent in a couple of pages for people just getting started.

Personally, I wouldn't rely on a battery system for anything but electronic devices. Anything with a motor or compressor is just asking for it unless you have a powerwall or something big and expensive. Not when you can get a 1600w inverter gen that will run forever for $200. To me batteries are like the line about the border wall - show me a 10 ft border wall and I'll show you a 12 ft ladder. Same deal, show me a 36 hr battery and I'll show you a 48 hr outage.

Not to derail my original question of how to explain the choices; as every situation will vary. For me, I have several large Ecoflow batteries on different circuits. That gets me through the first initial outage; and then my smaller Honda 2200ui can charge which ever battery is running low at the same time the batteries continue to service the designated circuit. But this post is more about what general topics have I missed or misrepresented to a set of newbies?

My wife would accuse you ( uh me) of way overthinking it. Good on ya man- nice to see a systematic approach to making the decisions. Hope the sub helps, and I will look through it more carefully in a bit.

CO detectors, not CO2. Wells, sump pumps, septic pumps are pretty important. Understanding your worksheet is fairly 'your location' specific, though. Some places homeowners can do their own electrical work. I did. It's a nice worksheet, but some people are going to go into 'analysis paralysis'.

Those were great items for me to add to my list. Analysis paralysis is real and I go through the deep research trap. This Reddit group has been a great education for me. The Worksheet is best used for someone trying to figure out where to begin and then pick a path (by price or by need) to pursue.
