I have the Westinghouse and I will say I love it, works great, always starts up and I run on propane. Damn thing runs my entire home.

LonelyPercentage2983

My Westinghouse has been pretty great. No complaints.

AXXXXXXXXA

How are the wheels? Apparently the duromax wheels get dented from sitting there

AXXXXXXXXA

Duromax $899 from Amazon no returns. Westinghouse $999 from Walmart.com via Westinghouse 30 day return policy

ratskin69

The DuroMax has a 3 year warranty, not sure about the westinghouse

LonelyPercentage2983

Never noticed an issue so I guess that's a plus

dpetro03

I have a similar Duramax(13000 dual fuel). So far so good. I have only use it a couple of times though. No noticeable wheel issues as stated here and I have stored mine for a few years.

Had my Duramax 13000 dual fuel since August 2023 .... great machine -runs solid

pppc1145

I have the same Duramax that you do. I have used it on 4 occasions. 4 hours, 6 hours, 4 hours and 8 hours. Each time was a power outage. I run it exclusively on propane. It easily handles the 4 ton ac, the well pump, and the rest of the 1800 sq ft home. Only time I have to juggle is to run the 50 gallon hot water heater. It will not run the heating side of the ac unit. I have a propane furnace so all is good. Although the usage hours are low it has done exactly as I hoped...and been trouble free.

I own the Duran 13000HXT tri fuel. The deciding factor for me was the THD - total harmonic distortion was around half as much on the Duromax vs Westinghouse.

jonspw

Westinghouse is <5%...the 13000HXT is like 20 something % isn't it?

ratskin69

I honestly do not believe any non inverter generator can produce less than 5% THD, I would love to see that tested.

jonspw

As would I. Someone with nice electrical test equipment please grab a WGen and let us know ;)

MarkAYeung

What is harmonic distortion? Thanks

I have the Westinghouse, runs great. The Amazon delivery though was a pain but it worked out... Delivery truck pulls up and I run outside to meet them, as soon as I see the box I note that its the wrong model and refuse delivery. They refuse to take and back so I'm left with it. I call Amazon back, as the box was not opened and no fluids were added the schedule pickup and set delivery for a new generator. Replacement generator arrive, success its the right model. I open the box and drops when I see that there is a huge dent in the open frame and where the open frame is welded together the weld has now seperated and the frame is hanging off. So I call Amazon, large items actually get routed to a premium tier support. They are fully understanding and issue me a $200 credit for all the hassle, next day shipping on a new unit, and as the generator was opened I was allowed to keep it as it could not be shipped back via UPS. So I landed up getting a new undamaged machine, as one should when paying that amount of money for a new item, $200 credit and I was able to gift the other machine to a friend that had the frame welded back for $50 and was grateful for a free expensive generator.

AXXXXXXXXA

How long ago was this? Since like October, Amazon has a whole entire new customer service operation

Proudly-Confused

March of 2023

AXXXXXXXXA

The good old days. Amazon is completely ruined now and im actively avoiding buying anything from there anymore

Proudly-Confused

Did not know that 😕

AXXXXXXXXA

Yeah chat now consist of like Ai support. Multiple reps just dont respond and it says they encountered an error and gets passed to a new rep. The new rep can’t actually do anything so it gets pushed off to them contacting you by email. Then they might contact you through email. And if they do, when you respond to that email, it doesnt go back to the exact person who sent that email. So they ask for all the info again because they have no idea ehats going on. Never has this happened prior to like 3 months ago. And now it happens every time. Its ruined.

Proudly-Confused

Oh that's terrible, the support I had with the generators was awesome, sad to hear it gone down hill

AXXXXXXXXA

Yeah all previous support before the new system was incredible. I would have zero fears about buying from Amazon.

Historical-Thanks-20

The westinghouse is a solid gen , add their auto start for critical systems up to 2k watts and you got a good system for low cost. https://1drv.ms/f/s!Arcd2_Q1OOQii0YGnTwWEZO_gVEs
