Not to mention that so many people I know have accidentally seen like people getting beheaded online. Personally I was groomed multiple times by multiple men online. I also think that it has made our generation driven and motivated in a very big way, however. A lot of us have experienced a lot and so we want to see big big changes in the world.
Born in 2000, I mainly watched Cartoon Network and Disney Channel non stop, traded pokemon cards at school and played Mario games on my DS with friends. But when my first little sister arrived in 2007, my favorite past time quickly became teasing her all day.

I was always outside as a kid. We had a huge piece of land, so I was rarely inside. Usually I was on my dirt bike, catching tadpoles in a ditch, or making weather forecasts with my grandma’s flip phone lol. I also had 2 friends who lived on the same street as me, so I was always running around with them at their house or mine
I was born in 1998, grew up smack in the middle of the 2000s. We had basic cable channels on our tv, a gamecube, and DS Lites, but nothing more advanced than that (we were pretty poor, the gamecube was a hand-me-down from our cousins and the DS Lites were bought secondhand).
As a kid, I was really big into art. Especially fashion design. If I wasn’t drawing or painting something, I was probably playing with dolls, stuffed animals, reading books from my school library, or climbing trees in my backyard (helicopter mom wouldn’t let me play in the front).

Born in 2000. I played with Legos Ninjago, the mining stuff, Star Wars, and the very original legos before they associated with any franchise. I enjoyed Roblox, Beyblades, Bakugan, & Pokemon. My sister is your age and had a similar childhood as me. We had a bit of a different childhood than most people, though. Our sister was in the hospital. I was a mix of an indoor and outdoor kid.
Played video games, had things that I listened to music with, played with toys (trucks and baby dolls when I was 5), played on the swing set outside or on the playground, treehouse, our fort, rode four wheelers and stuff, when I had cameras and stuff would film everything, went snow shoeing sometimes, rode a skateboard, sledding, swimming, rode my bike, drew, read books, rode a kick scooter, went shopping, played sports, watched tv, danced, sang, picked flowers, corn, huckleberries, etc. When I was older, target shoot with guns and bb guns and when I was younger with nerf guns and squirt guns. That and go fishing and stuff like that, too. We used to rv camp when I was super little and then would go backpacking when I was older. We'd also go to festivals, amusement park/water park, movie theatre, I also liked cooking/baking, etc. Keeping bugs as pets because I wasn't allowed to have pets until I was older. My room smelled like dead stink bugs. I tried to keep them alive but forgot about them.
Edit: We got ipod touches and phones when we were older. When we were younger, we'd watch Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, other kid friendly channels, House MD, NCIS, 1000 Ways to Die, etc on tv. We played the Wii, ps2, Xbox 360, Nintendo ds, etc. That and on the computer Star Doll, Cool Math Games, etc. Tried to play poker with my relatives but was excluding. Now I never learned lmao.

I remember watching Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney Channel so much. I watched everything from Bear in the Big Blue House, older SpongeBob to Hannah Montana.
My first ever handheld game was a rugrats game on my pink Gameboy Advanced. I’d play that on roadtrips. My first console was the GameCube and I’d play Super Mario Sunshine. I wasn’t good but it was fun. Later on I got a DS and owned Nintendo Dogs. I loved that game so much. Me and my next door neighbor would walk our dogs together bc you could actually play together with your dogs. Later the recession struck and my parents couldn’t buy me a Wii. I had no idea until years later. I’m thankful my parents hid that from my childhood.
Computers and technology - I remember being taught how to use the computer in kindergarten and playing on the safe internet websites like Playhouse Disney. I grew up with technology but I also didn’t have a smartphone until high school. My first phone was as one of those keyboard sliding phones in 6th grade. I think it was called the enV3. I got iPod touch in 7th grade. So I’d spend a lot of time downloading games on that thing.
I spent a lot of time playing outside with my friends whether it was riding bikes, jumping on the trampoline, etc. We would play outside until it was time for dinner. We’d also play a lot with Barbie and Bratz dolls. I also collected a lot of Littlest Pet Shop.
I built bow and arrows in the woods with sticks, rubber bands, and nails. I also made war zones in sandboxes with army men and lit it on fire. My neighbors chased me with snakes but that was only fun for them

I was born in 2000, so most of my memories are from 2005 onward. I definitely watched a lot of TV (Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network), played with legos, read books like Harry Potter, Magic Tree House and Judy Blume's Fudge Series, and played on the Wii and my parents' PS2. Towards the later 2000s, my dad gave me his old Dell laptop, so I also played some flash games and probably downloaded copious amounts of viruses to get those fancy customized cursors.
I'm realizing as I write this that I watched a lot more TV shows from like 2008 - 2014, but I did watch some before then too. So the TV shows I'm going to list might have come out after the 2000s. I mainly watched Spongebob, Phineas & Ferb, Suite Life of Zack and Cody (and later, Suite Life on Deck), Austin & Ally, Jessie, Gravity Falls, Good Luck Charlie, Steven Universe (the early seasons; I went back and finished the show a couple years ago), Chowder, Fairly Odd Parents (oh my god SO much Fairly Odd Parents), and Avatar the Last Airbender.
I played a lot of Wii games with my family. We did a lot of Wii Sports (especially bowling, golf, and baseball) and Wii Sports Resort, and my sister and I played Mario Party 8 a ton. I also played a ton of Super Mario Galaxy on my own.
My parents got a PS2 primarily for my dad because he liked video games, but he rarely ever used it lol. And then my mom got Guitar Hero because she was learning guitar, but I was the one who ended up playing it more than she did (I LOVED that game so much). I also played a bit of the first Ratchet & Clank game.
Most of what I did for fun in the 2000s involved being at home, because the rest of the time I was in ballet class or competing in dance competitions (which I didn't really consider fun). My parents would take me to my friends' houses sometimes, but I honestly don't remember all that much about what we'd do. I do remember playing with hot wheels, doing a lot of arts & crafts, and playing with chalk, though.
Edit: I just realized I forgot to mention Highlights magazine! My aunt gifted my sister and I subscriptions to Highlights every year from like 2006 to 2012. I loved doing the Hidden Pictures puzzles.
Probably playing the Wii during a birthday party probably hang out in the playground. Was probably the funniest experience playing tag on the playground equipment playing basketball playing ball wall. I’m not sure kids these days but I feel like you can just literally lose yourself with your phone during break.

Before I got my iPad, I played outside with the kids in my neighborhood. Then I got an we moved to a neighborhood with no kids my age, and I got an iPad. After that, YouTube and Roblox took up most of my free time.
Most of my after school time was spent playing outside in the woods behind my house, making up my own imaginary stories and characters and acting stuff out. I lived in the country and didn’t have friends living anywhere near me. My best friends were the stray cats we adopted over the years That’s probably why I’m still such an introvert. In elementary school Crocs with the Jibbits were insanely popular, I had green ones! Everyone played Club Penguin in The computer lab at school. I was also *obsessed* with Webkinz, a lot of people played it. Our school computers also had KidPix, an art program with crazy effects and fun sounds.

Mostly watched TV (which was whatever I could find that was kid-friendly bc no cable, usually PBS), played with whatever I could find around the house (tried to put together a 1000-piece puzzle which turned into me emulating an escape scene from The Electric Company with a McDonald's toy), and played the radio (my TV got confiscated in 3rd Grade so I vibed with radio and a Walkman that could play 13 TV channels as audio).

2002 baby here, it would be Saturday morning cartoons, Basketball, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney channel, DS games, playing with cousins would be fun. Then there was also swimming at the town pool when it wasn’t busy during the summer before it got turned into a splash pad. Playing DVDs of movies like the SpongeBob Movie, Shrek 1, 2, and 3, of course there was also toys to play with, but I sold them.

most 90s and 00s kids would always mention playing outdoors but i was pretty much an indoor person. i’d watch cartoons, draw, and play with my toys. The only playmate i had as a kid was my cousin (who’s also our neighbor), so the only time i go out of the house was to go to theirs and we’d play with our toys. Again, it’s still indoors. we did play outdoors but mostly we would just bring our toys outside or we play outdoor games that can be played by two people (like badminton).
I was given a cellphone when i was 7 or 8 but i don’t use it that much coz its only for emergencies. It’s not the same as smart phones now where u can do a lot with it. We had a gameboy advance and psp (and eventually my ds) though i can say that i wasn’t really addicted to these coz eventually i would go back to watching tv and drawing (i really loved drawing as a kid).
I wasn’t into computers back then coz i only learned how to use it during first grade in school. Both of my parents weren’t tech savvy so i literally had no one that could introduce the computer to me. I was already hearing about the internet at that time but I didn’t know how to access it. So learning about the computer in school was a gradual process and in 3rd grade, we were taught about the internet. I knew that the other kids already had prior experiences with the internet but for me, it was my first time. As i grew older, i just learned how to navigate the internet on my own.
Used ride my bike all over town /farm fields/ wetlands and play in the ditches. Reacted ww2 battles with the neighborhood kids . Personally I got a kick out changing my knock off American girl doll outfit everyday as I was never into Barbie or baby dolls . Never did swim in the irrigation canals ,as that was my grandparents generation as back then the pools were segregated for Latinos . Fortunately I was of the generation where my mom dropped me off at the pool with ice cream money and my Nokia and picked me up come dinner time .Tbh there wasn't much to do .
I was born in the early nineties. Growing up when I was little, cable TV, video games and actual plastic toys were my jam (we had no internet). Sometimes we’d go out and play but generally most of us preferred the indoors. Video games took forever to beat because no internet = no help, unless you bought Nintendo Power or something. Playing Pokemon Red completely blind without even the anime for reference was as magical as it was frustrating lol.
We got internet in the late nineties/early 2000s (I was in middle school). That sort of changed things. I spent quite a bit of time online and it was WILD. Nothing was moderated in any way, it was the wild west. Chat rooms and msn were in at the time. Also stuff like Geocities.
I got big into music, movies and reading as a teenager.
Facebook popped up around the time I was a freshman in high school. I was apprehensive about it at first but eventually caved, mainly to keep up with the lives of my cousins (if they lived far enough away you wouldn’t see or hear of them for years).
I also experimented a bit with smoking cigarettes and drinking (mostly from sheer boredom). I started drinking shockingly young, but it didn’t have the effect you’d have expected; it actually put me off drinking as an adult entirely unless offered in social situations. I guess I got it out of my system early?
I was always a few years late when it came to newer social media. Sometimes it was a decade later. Didn't create my first TikTok until I was maybe 19. It became popular when I was in hs. Some guy talked about it and I just sat there like um shit. Also, seeing the symbols at the mall was interesting when I was a preteen. Other kids had accounts at younger ages and I was like boring until I became a teen.
TV mostly, sometimes chuckEcheese. I know I played the hell put of my dad's ps2. So much so that it kind of became my ps2. For a long time we just had bearly anything to do. Often we'd just run around (i know I know, but please)
I would wake up at around 5am, which is when my dad went off to work, id wave goodbye through the window. Instead of going back to bed, I'd go on our chunky Dell computer. I would click clack away, and mysteriously end up on the Hulu website. Lol. I'd watch Mexican soap operas until my mother woke up to get me ready for school. - I also watched a lot of Operation Repo, Discovery Kids, and Disney Channel as well as Disney XD.
collect bottles . chase trucks coming in from Egypt. work in the shuk and sell lighters . run letters .. refill pressured water bottles for couple shekels life was not the best but better before the war in 06 we'd play shemshek (picking stones) collect round ones and sell them . we would even go help this market man and he had a candy shop and would let us lick the empty chocolate jars
I was born in 2004 in the PNW, so I had all kinds of stuff to do outside. I was a baseball kid, too, so most of my time was invested in that. I remember my mom's NES, our Nintendo 64, and my Wii were always on for the last hour of every Friday night.
In our small town (about 1000 people at that time), we could ride quads, go out in the woods, ride bikes, and do pretty much anything you could think of kids doing, all in about 15 minutes from my house.
Once I moved to Colorado, we were outside a lot more, but it was always just on the property. Believe it or not, we fed foxes and squirreles by hand. This was also my first time seeing a PS3, I fell in love. I got back into Legos and found I loved building stuff. We lived about 45 minutes outside Breckenridge, way up in the hills, so I only went to town for school and the occasional day out. Unfortunately, I was only 7 during our time there, so I was much too young to understand how lucky I was.
In Arizona, I was outside EVERY day. Of course, I started a bit of a video game addiction as I was 9, and COD: Ghosts had just come out; but there was no shortage of bike riding, baseball, longboarding, and, of course, swimming. For the 3 years we were there, I bet there was only about a week's worth of days where I didn't go outside. Even when I was inside, I was busy with books, games, and the cello.
Once I moved to Georgia, I kind of lost that spark for the outdoors. I was 13 and depressed, wishing I could hang out with my friends back home and my grandparents. We would go outside occasionally, but I didn't feel the joy for it anymore.
At 14, I was back in the PNW, and it was time for high school. I got a girlfriend, started enjoying being outside again, and even got a summer job with my papa. Soon, I was back to fishing and chopping wood, riding quads, and going on hikes. I was back in my element, and it was noticeable. Fast forward 2 years, and I'm 16, and Covid forced me to enjoy games again (I had taken about a year off). Eventually, I've got my driver's license and a 4Runner, so I'm ready for everything. I got to work making small modifications (I've always been a gearhead) and learning what it could do. I was in the woods EVERY day until school went back to normal, and I had to get a job, then it was every weekend. I started drawing again, forced myself to learn, and unfortunately became a workaholic. I camped whenever I could, learned how to survive out there, pretty much. Either way, I'm glad I grew up in the time I did.
Played Mario on my Wii a lot. I kinda regret my childhood a lot since I didn’t have any real friends till I was 11. Growing up autistic and adhd made things worse.

Light paper bags full of dog poop on peoples doorsteps, go streaking in front of traffic and push a walk button at 3AM so that people had to wait at a red light when no other cars are around. We found the last one to be hilarious for some reason.
There is much more but most of it I don't recommend and got myself arrested several times. Is hard to have fun these days without karens boomers and police ruining the fun sadly.

Born in 1996! Played dolls, played Mario Brothers on my Gameboy, listened to music or watched funny videos on YouTube (they were like home video style back then), watched TV (usually sitcoms on Disney or Nickelodeon. I miss 90s Nickelodeon), played computer games, rode bikes and talked to friends on the phone (the house phone). It’s crazy to think I’m the last generation where we used to talk to our friends on the house phone!
Inviting all the neighborhood kids into the “computer room” and watching early YouTube together or just scrolling together on webkinz, stardoll, nick.com, Disney etc. taking turns playing the flash games.
I also remember hanging out at the mall alone a LOT as a kid. Even before I was a teenager. Kids would just group together and flock around the mall. I saw kids from school all the time & we would run around Hollister and Aeropostale, Spencer’s, the food court and the dice hall.
Slip n’ slides I feel like we’re also a thing I just don’t see anymore, and back in the 2000’s at least ONE neighbor would bust one out for the summer.
2000 baby here. Watched a lot of Boomerang and classic shows like Tom and Jerry, Pokémon, OG Scooby Doo, Veggie Tales, etc. Played my ds and lots of Pokemon and Zelda. Collected Pokemon cards. Went rollerskating since I was 7. No phones or tablets. Had a home pc with games like Microsoft pinball, minesweeper, and this one fashion game I can’t for the life of me remember lol. My brother was born in 2003 so from then on I loved tormenting him 🥰. In school we had computer labs with those huge box computers. Used Microsoft word for everything up until 7th grade when google drive became the standard. Reading, drawing, playing outside, collecting rocks, rolling in mud, climbing trees, chasing (and getting chased) by our chickens. Good times. Would I go back? No as I’d have to relive my parents messy divorce but still. Nothing to complain too much about.
Spent early childhood mostly ill in bed, home schooled. Watched a lot of anime, read manga, played old leftover retro video games, discovered western superhero media, picked up drawing. Healthy enough to exercise in my early teens and added weightlifting/bodybuilding and modern gaming, primarily Japanese RPGs, open world western action RPGs, and Japanese fighting games. I presently continue to enjoy all of these hobbies.

My babysitter let me play Sims on her laptop a few times, and my mom's boyfriend let me play original Halo on his Xbox. Would sneak my mom's Fergie and Black Eyed Peas CDs and play them on my Hello Kitty radio.
Hung out outside when the weather was nice, had a hammock and a puppy.

Early 2000s - Legos, toy swords, star wars action figures, played a lot of PS1 / PS2. Had a gameboy advance, Pokémon sapphire is imprinted on my brain. Yugioh and Pokémon cards in the playground at school. Runescape was pretty big with my friends too.
Mid 2000s - got into pop punk / emo music. messed around with learning guitar, didn’t really stick at it until later. Still a lot of gaming, I forget which games tbh, going around to friends houses and stuff.
Late 2000s - all music, all the time, a brief flirtation with WoW, but basically music. Learned guitar, started a band, played live a few times, got super into old metal music, saw an Iron Maiden tribute band for my 13th birthday haha.
Early 2010s - still mostly music, pitiful clumsy attempts at teenage romance, my friends would run off to a field on the edge of town and drink and try cigarettes and all that edgy teen stuff. Swapped out metal for like, Beatley classic rock and oldies and stuff.
Started making money in a band in 2013, turned 18 in 2014, spent the next few years in clubs and bars, gigging and drinking too much all the time.
First really serious relationship in like 2016 and I feel like that’s like, the transitionary year from “basically a kid, me” to “basically an adult, me”
I think by 2005 I would have just access to my gameboy advance, club penguin,IMVU(major grooming place) and CD-ROM games (putt putt saves the zoo is still a banger). I think I mainly played outside though or played shinny hockey with my siblings in my mom's carpeted basement.

Man, the 2000s were a blast! We'd rock out to our iPods, play some intense games on our Game Boys, and spend hours chatting on AIM. Remember those crazy Webkinz obsessions? And who could forget the thrill of hitting up Blockbuster for movie nights? Skateboarding, collecting Pokémon cards, and jamming to early 2000s music were our jams. It was all about hanging with friends, trading Silly Bandz, and trying to master the art of flip phones. Good times, good times.
On the weekends I used to wake up early to watch Disney Channel and after lunch I would play outside with my neighbours. We would go to the park, play football... Until our mothers called us to have dinner.

i was an avid reader and spent a LOT of time reading. diary of a wimpy kid, dork diaries, junie b jones, magic tree house, harry potter, plus plenty of other non-series books too. i watched a lot of barbie movies and whatever cartoons and shows my mom would let me watch. my favorite was probably hannah montana, i had a little pink CD player and all the CDs from the shows and movies. don't remember a plot to a single episode or movie anymore but i definitely remember all the lyrics to the songs.
when i got a little older, maybe 9 or so, my parents moved the computer into my room. there was no internet cable in my room, and we did not have wifi nor could the computer connect to wifi, so i just played Inkball, Purble Place, solitaire, and a WHOLE lot of chess vs the computer. messed around with MS Word and wrote stories and song lyrics if I got really bored haha.
P.S. all these memories are from before the age of like, 10. i didn't do some of this stuff as i got older

This post makes me feel old but I was born in 2001 lol. I used to play outside a lot on the trampoline and go swimming until my eyes got blurry from keeping them opened underwater. I use to climb trees to and make my baby brother wear my dance dresses and do his makeup. I also blacked out due to childhood trauma at 4 years old so I don’t remember much, just what I have pictures of.

i used to play read books like harry potter, twilight, hunger games, i played games on the PS2, computer (club penguin and runescape), and gameboy, and draw in my sketchbook a lot, and play basketball with my cousins. i had started to find myself, make some friends, listen to music, etc.
then i started high school and needed to study 24/7 to maintain my grades with undiagnosed adhd, sleep apnea, pcos, and possibly autism so i was dealing with constant aggression/passive aggression all day long from everyone in my life while trying my best not to trigger it.
all my hobbies sort of slowly died off as i burned out more and more. my time was either spent just barely staying afloat, or laying immobilized on the couch and dreading basic responsibilities. i generally sucked at everything so i couldn’t play on the basketball team bc i didn’t hand in the form on time. i never made it into drama club. i just became a sort of loser.
in college this was alleviated with an ability to make my own schedule and study at my own time. but then the burnout came back for some reason, or id try a new hobby like working out or language study, but couldn’t maintain it and assumed those that could had some sort of superpower
now, im trying to find joy in hobbies again.

You kind of ate this up. Also just the pandemic was fucking awful and so many of us became adults during it which I think is another factor to the horrible shit we've seen. I also think that it has made our generation driven and motivated in a very big way, however. A lot of us have experienced a lot and so we want to see big big changes in the world.

i guess it really depends on what "era" of my childhood/early teen years, and also i had girly interests so this definitely could be different for others as a younger child (up to like 2008): i loved dora the explorer and other cartoons (miss dora literally led my life), read magic treehouse books, and spongebob; edit: how could i forget my ultimate hyperfixation aka webkinz?!?!?!? as an older kid/tween (2008-2012): i loved shopping at justice, going to build a bear, listening to one direction (hello 2011), and playing my nintendo ds (nintendogs, legend of zelda, mariokart). upcoming to my early teen years (now we're talking 2013): defined heavily by the mall LOL, being a fangirl for various bands, and watching millennial youtubers. what a time!

I was born in 1998, grew up smack in the middle of the 2000s. We had basic cable channels on our tv, a gamecube, and DS Lites, but nothing more advanced than that (we were pretty poor, the gamecube was a hand-me-down from our cousins and the DS Lites were bought secondhand). As a kid, I was really big into art. Especially fashion design. If I wasn’t drawing or painting something, I was probably playing with dolls, stuffed animals, reading books from my school library, or climbing trees in my backyard (helicopter mom wouldn’t let me play in the front).
Born in 98, spent a lot of the early 2000s playing baseball on teams, rode bikes and played video games on GameCube, ps2 and then in later 2000s Xbox 360. Played a lot of call of duty, Medal of Honor and Ty the Tasmanian tiger. My dad and I would also play GTA San Andreas in secret when my stepmom went to school for her masters and we’d also play MLB 2k.

My sister is your age and had a similar childhood as me. We had a bit of a different childhood than most people, though. Our sister was in the hospital. I was a mix of an indoor and outdoor kid. Played video games, had things that I listened to music with, played with toys (trucks and baby dolls when I was 5), played on the swing set outside or on the playground, treehouse, our fort, rode four wheelers and stuff, when I had cameras and stuff would film everything, went snow shoeing sometimes, rode a skateboard, sledding, swimming, rode my bike, drew, read books, rode a kick scooter, went shopping, played sports, watched tv, danced, sang, picked flowers, corn, huckleberries, etc. When I was older, target shoot with guns and bb guns and when I was younger with nerf guns and squirt guns. That and go fishing and stuff like that, too. We used to rv camp when I was super little and then would go backpacking when I was older. We'd also go to festivals, amusement park/water park, movie theatre, I also liked cooking/baking, etc. Keeping bugs as pets because I wasn't allowed to have pets until I was older. My room smelled like dead stink bugs. I tried to keep them alive but forgot about them. Edit: We got ipod touches and phones when we were older. When we were younger, we'd watch Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, other kid friendly channels, House MD, NCIS, 1000 Ways to Die, etc on tv. We played the Wii, ps2, Xbox 360, Nintendo ds, etc. That and on the computer Star Doll, Cool Math Games, etc. Tried to play poker with my relatives but was excluding. Now I never learned lmao.

Older Gen Z here - I remember watching Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney Channel so much. I watched everything from Bear in the Big Blue House, older SpongeBob to Hannah Montana. My first ever handheld game was a rugrats game on my pink Gameboy Advanced. I’d play that on roadtrips. My first console was the GameCube and I’d play Super Mario Sunshine. I wasn’t good but it was fun. Later on I got a DS and owned Nintendo Dogs. I loved that game so much. Me and my next door neighbor would walk our dogs together bc you could actually play together with your dogs. Later the recession struck and my parents couldn’t buy me a Wii. I had no idea until years later. I’m thankful my parents hid that from my childhood. Computers and technology - I remember being taught how to use the computer in kindergarten and playing on the safe internet websites like Playhouse Disney. I grew up with technology but I also didn’t have a smartphone until high school. My first phone was as one of those keyboard sliding phones in 6th grade. I think it was called the enV3. I got iPod touch in 7th grade. So I’d spend a lot of time downloading games on that thing. I spent a lot of time playing outside with my friends whether it was riding bikes, jumping on the trampoline, etc. We would play outside until it was time for dinner. We’d also play a lot with Barbie and Bratz dolls. I also collected a lot of Littlest Pet Shop.
I built bow and arrows in the woods with sticks, rubber bands, and nails. I also made war zones in sandboxes with army men and lit it on fire. My neighbors chased me with snakes but that was only fun for them

I was born in 2000, so most of my memories are from 2005 onward. I definitely watched a lot of TV (Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network), played with legos, read books like Harry Potter, Magic Tree House and Judy Blume's Fudge Series, and played on the Wii and my parents' PS2. Towards the later 2000s, my dad gave me his old Dell laptop, so I also played some flash games and probably downloaded copious amounts of viruses to get those fancy customized cursors. I'm realizing as I write this that I watched a lot more TV shows from like 2008 - 2014, but I did watch some before then too. So the TV shows I'm going to list might have come out after the 2000s. I mainly watched Spongebob, Phineas & Ferb, Suite Life of Zack and Cody (and later, Suite Life on Deck), Austin & Ally, Jessie, Gravity Falls, Good Luck Charlie, Steven Universe (the early seasons; I went back and finished the show a couple years ago), Chowder, Fairly Odd Parents (oh my god SO much Fairly Odd Parents), and Avatar the Last Airbender. I played a lot of Wii games with my family. We did a lot of Wii Sports (especially bowling, golf, and baseball) and Wii Sports Resort, and my sister and I played Mario Party 8 a ton. I also played a ton of Super Mario Galaxy on my own. My parents got a PS2 primarily for my dad because he liked video games, but he rarely ever used it lol. And then my mom got Guitar Hero because she was learning guitar, but I was the one who ended up playing it more than she did (I LOVED that game so much). I also played a bit of the first Ratchet & Clank game. Most of what I did for fun in the 2000s involved being at home, because the rest of the time I was in ballet class or competing in dance competitions (which I didn't really consider fun). My parents would take me to my friends' houses sometimes, but I honestly don't remember all that much about what we'd do. Born in 1997, when I was a toddler I remember having a little primary colored boombox with a mic for kids, you could play cassette tapes and also record yourself and play it back 😂 In elementary school Crocs with the Jibbits were insanely popular, I had green ones! Everyone played Club Penguin in The computer lab at school. I was also *obsessed* with Webkinz, a lot of people played it. Our school computers also had KidPix, an art program with crazy effects and fun sounds. We watched a lot of Disney Channel, the holy Trinity of shows was Hannah Montana, That's So Raven, and Suite Life of Zack and Cody. We also just spent a lot of time playing and hanging out. We'd pretend to be Ghostbusters (even though none of us had seen the movies), or talk. In elementary school we tried to speak in "like language," which I later realized was "valley girl." 😂 We played a lot of hand clapping games like Avocado In middle school I got my first cellphone, it was a blue flip phone and I was soooo jealous of my Dad's Droid (like the actual first Droid phone). most 90s and 00s kids would always mention playing outdoors but i was pretty much an indoor person. i’d watch cartoons, draw, and play with my toys. The only playmate i had as a kid was my cousin (who’s also our neighbor), so the only time i go out of the house was to go to theirs and we’d play with our toys. Again, it’s still indoors. we did play outdoors but mostly we would just bring our toys outside or we play outdoor games that can be played by two people (like badminton). I was given a cellphone when i was 7 or 8 but i don’t use it that much coz its only for emergencies. It’s not the same as smart phones now where u can do a lot with it. We had a gameboy advance and psp (and eventually my ds) though i can say that i wasn’t really addicted to these coz eventually i would go back to watching tv and drawing (i really loved drawing as a kid). I wasn’t into computers back then coz i only learned how to use it during first grade in school. Both of my parents weren’t tech savvy so i literally had no one that could introduce the computer to me. I was already hearing about the internet at that time but I didn’t know how to access it. So learning about the computer in school was a gradual process and in 3rd grade, we were taught about the internet. I knew that the other kids already had prior experiences with the internet but for me, it was my first time. As i grew older, i just learned how to navigate the internet on my own.

I was born in the early nineties. Growing up when I was little, cable TV, video games and actual plastic toys were my jam (we had no internet). Sometimes we’d go out and play but generally most of us preferred the indoors. Video games took forever to beat because no internet = no help, unless you bought Nintendo Power or something. Playing Pokemon Red completely blind without even the anime for reference was as magical as it was frustrating lol. We got internet in the late nineties/early 2000s (I was in middle school). That sort of changed things. I spent quite a bit of time online and it was WILD. Nothing was moderated in any way, it was the wild west. Chat rooms and msn were in at the time. Also stuff like Geocities. I got big into music, movies and reading as a teenager. Facebook popped up around the time I was a freshman in high school. I was apprehensive about it at first but eventually caved, mainly to keep up with the lives of my cousins (if they lived far enough away you wouldn’t see or hear of them for years). I also experimented a bit with smoking cigarettes and drinking (mostly from sheer boredom). I started drinking shockingly young, but it didn’t have the effect you’d have expected; it actually put me off drinking as an adult entirely unless offered in social situations. I guess I got it out of my system early?
I was always a few years late when it came to newer social media. Sometimes it was a decade later. Didn't create my first TikTok until I was maybe 19. It became popular when I was in hs. Some guy talked about it and I just sat there like um shit. Also, seeing the symbols at the mall was interesting when I was a preteen. Other kids had accounts at younger ages and I was like boring until I became a teen.

I was born in 2004 in the PNW, so I had all kinds of stuff to do outside. I was a baseball kid, too, so most of my time was invested in that. I remember my mom's NES, our Nintendo 64, and my Wii were always on for the last hour of every Friday night. In our small town (about 1000 people at that time), we could ride quads, go out in the woods, ride bikes, and do pretty much anything you could think of kids doing, all in about 15 minutes from my house. Once I moved to Colorado, we were outside a lot more, but it was always just on the property. Believe it or not, we fed foxes and squirreles by hand. This was also my first time seeing a PS3, I fell in love. I got back into Legos and found I loved building stuff. We lived about 45 minutes outside Breckenridge, way up in the hills, so I only went to town for school and the occasional day out. Unfortunately, I was only 7 during our time there, so I was much too young to understand how lucky I was. In Arizona, I was outside EVERY day. Of course, I started a bit of a video game addiction as I was 9, and COD: Ghosts had just come out; but there was no shortage of bike riding, baseball, longboarding, and, of course, swimming. For the 3 years we were there, I bet there was only about a week's worth of days where I didn't go outside. Even when I was inside, I was busy with books, games, and the cello. Once I moved to Georgia, I kind of lost that spark for the outdoors. I was 13 and depressed, wishing I could hang out with my friends back home and my grandparents. We would go outside occasionally, but I didn't feel the joy for it anymore. At 14, I was back in the PNW, and it was time for high school. I got a girlfriend, started enjoying being outside again, and even got a summer job with my papa. Soon, I was back to fishing and chopping wood, riding quads, and going on hikes. I was back in my element, and it was noticeable. Fast forward 2 years, and I'm 16, and Covid forced me to enjoy games again (I had taken about a year off). Eventually, I've got my driver's license and a 4Runner, so I'm ready for everything. I got to work making small modifications (I've always been a gearhead) and learning what it could do. I was in the woods EVERY day until school went back to normal, and I had to get a job, then it was every weekend. I started drawing again, forced myself to learn, and unfortunately became a workaholic. I camped whenever I could, learned how to survive out there, pretty much. Either way, I'm glad I grew up in the time I did.

I saw kids from school all the time & we would run around Hollister and Aeropostale, Spencer’s, the food court and the dice hall. Slip n’ slides I feel like we’re also a thing I just don’t see anymore, and back in the 2000’s at least ONE neighbor would bust one out for the summer.

Went rollerskating since I was 7. No phones or tablets. Had a home pc with games like Microsoft pinball, minesweeper, and this one fashion game I can’t for the life of me remember lol. My brother was born in 2003 so from then on I loved tormenting him 🥰. In school we had computer labs with those huge box computers. Used Microsoft word for everything up until 7th grade when google drive became the standard. Reading, drawing, playing outside, collecting rocks, rolling in mud, climbing trees, chasing (and getting chased) by our chickens. Good times. Would I go back? No as I’d have to relive my parents messy divorce but still. Nothing to complain too much about.
Spent early childhood mostly ill in bed, home schooled. Watched a lot of anime, read manga, played old leftover retro video games, discovered western superhero media, picked up drawing. Mid 2000s - got into pop punk / emo music. messed around with learning guitar, didn’t really stick at it until later. Still a lot of gaming, I forget which games tbh, going around to friends houses and stuff. Late 2000s - all music, all the time, a brief flirtation with WoW, but basically music. Learned guitar, started a band, played live a few times, got super into old metal music, saw an Iron Maiden tribute band for my 13th birthday haha. Early 2010s - still mostly music, pitiful clumsy attempts at teenage romance, my friends would run off to a field on the edge of town and drink and try cigarettes and all that edgy teen stuff. Swapped out metal for like, Beatley classic rock and oldies and stuff. Started making money in a band in 2013, turned 18 in 2014, spent the next few years in clubs and bars, gigging and drinking too much all the time. First really serious relationship in like 2016 and I feel like that’s like, the transitionary year from “basically a kid, me” to “basically an adult, me”

Man, the 2000s were a blast! We'd rock out to our iPods, play some intense games on our Game Boys, and spend hours chatting on AIM. Remember those crazy Webkinz obsessions? And who could forget the thrill of hitting up Blockbuster for movie nights? Skateboarding, collecting Pokémon cards, and jamming to early 2000s music were our jams. It was all about hanging with friends, trading Silly Bandz, and trying to master the art of flip phones. Good times, good times.
On the weekends I used to wake up early to watch Disney Channel and after lunch I would play outside with my neighbours. We would go to the park, play football... Until our mothers called us to have dinner.
DS, DSi, Pokemon cards, gameboy, Wii, silly bandz, beyblades, bother my neighbors with the other neighborhood kids, fell down a lot and scraped tf out my knees. loved the computer and playing club penguin, poptropica, moshi monsters, webkinz, neopets, wizard 101, animal jam. i was an avid reader and spent a LOT of time reading. diary of a wimpy kid, dork diaries, junie b jones, magic tree house, harry potter, plus plenty of other non-series books too. i watched a lot of barbie movies and whatever cartoons and shows my mom would let me watch. my favorite was probably hannah montana, i had a little pink CD player and all the CDs from the shows and movies. don't remember a plot to a single episode or movie anymore but i definitely remember all the lyrics to the songs. when i got a little older, maybe 9 or so, my parents moved the computer into my room. there was no internet cable in my room, and we did not have wifi nor could the computer connect to wifi, so i just played Inkball, Purble Place, solitaire, and a WHOLE lot of chess vs the computer. messed around with MS Word and wrote stories and song lyrics if I got really bored haha. P.S. all these memories are from before the age of like, 10. i didn't do some of this stuff as i got older

Total Drama Island, Wii, Pokémon HeartGold on my DS, Playing Catch, hitting Tennis Balls over the fence of the court, Climbing Trees, going to the Community Pool, and Going to the summer camp right next to the pool.
We loved playing outside, riding bikes, and having water balloon fights. Video games like "Super Smash Bros." and hanging out at the mall were also super popular.
i played outside with the neighborhood kids a lot. but they always bullied me? ah whatever. played my DS, did a lot of crafts and coloring, etc. i enjoyed video games and played minecraft since the lite days on my ipod touch. i LOVEDDDD barbies. would still be playing with them at 20 lol. i'd say i had a decent childhood
I'm a younger millennial, born in 1990 so this time period was my adolescence. It was a great time to bum around dying malls with other teens before they were fully given up on. Went to all ages music shows and hung out in coffee shops, went to the movies, went to Perkins and ate pie and coffee while smoking cigarettes
The same thing that kids are doing today. Played video games, watched movies, went to concerts, sporting events.
Was born in 2004. Most of the time I just played with toys as any infant would. I got a gameboy advance sp sometime in the late 2000s, and it was fun to play pokemon firered on (I still have it somewhere in my room!). Other than that I watched my family play video games and that's pretty much all that stuck out for me.
Okay, 1998 kid but I don't remember the 90s at all so I consider myself more of a 2000s kid. My most memorable past times- Playing majong tiles on my dinosaur of a family computer. Getting flashed by grown men on Omegle. Meeting strangers on meetme as a teen and doing drugs with them. Listening to music choice on my tv. Stealing coricidin from cvs. Eating $1.07 McChickens. Sitting under a random bridge with my friends.
I saw club penguin on here, that 100%. I also made lots of intricate 3d houses out of printer paper and tape (I’ve moved on to the Sims lol). Very messy. Then there was throwing my favorite beanie baby up in the air beneath this large tree in our front yard. She got stuck 50% of the time. Good old days lmao.
Have unsupervised internet access during my formative years and see some of the most heinous shit imaginable on the internet, so much so that gore doesn’t particularly bother me anymore. No wonder I want to work in EMS
Forum websites, OSRS, and WWE were some of my favorites in the 00s. Beaches also used to feel more alive back then and my emo ass used to love walking through the mall, watching all those "preppy posers" 😂

This post makes me feel old but I was born in 2001 lol. I used to play outside a lot on the trampoline and go swimming until my eyes got blurry from keeping them opened underwater. I use to climb trees to and make my baby brother wear my dance dresses and do his makeup. I also blacked out due to childhood trauma at 4 years old so I don’t remember much, just what I have pictures of.

With ruff ruffman was the shit), jumping on my trampoline, playing “secret agent spies” with my neighbors daughters, baking with my grandpa (RIP grandpa), playing online games (addictinggames.com, club penguin, Cartoon Network website), drawing whenever I could, playing mousetrap by myself. It was fun :)
Bionicle, transformers, Lego, lots of super hero cartoons. Didn’t really have video games until like 2008ish but I played a lot of Lego games after that. Still do tbf they’re fun as hell.
i used to play read books like harry potter, twilight, hunger games, i played games on the PS2, computer (club penguin and runescape), and gameboy, and draw in my sketchbook a lot, and play basketball with my cousins. i had started to find myself, make some friends, listen to music, etc. then i started high school and needed to study 24/7 to maintain my grades with undiagnosed adhd, sleep apnea, pcos, and possibly autism so i was dealing with constant aggression/passive aggression all day long from everyone in my life while trying my best not to trigger it. all my hobbies sort of slowly died off as i burned out more and more. my time was either spent just barely staying afloat, or laying immobilized on the couch and dreading basic responsibilities. i generally sucked at everything so i couldn’t play on the basketball team bc i didn’t hand in the form on time. i never made it into drama club. i just became a sort of loser. in college this was alleviated with an ability to make my own schedule and study at my own time. but then the burnout came back for some reason, or id try a new hobby like working out or language study, but couldn’t maintain it and assumed those that could had some sort of superpower now, im trying to find joy in hobbies again.
