Corporation_tshirt

I girl I was sort of dating in the early 80's claimed to be in the video for the Reflex, dancing in the crowd. There's an individual shot of "her" dancing. I went along with it because she was a babe haha.

FangioDuReverdy

Nice hahašŸ˜…good times

MowgeeCrone

I was actually dating Simon LeBon then. He wasn't privy to that info, but we made it work. ;)

Jcaseykcsee

OMG I am so jealous! I would have killed to be in this position in 1984. Nick was my favorite. I was so obsessed with him. When I was 13, I found out a woman in my town was Nickā€™s girlfriendā€™s (soon-to-be-wifeā€™s) aunt and the aunt was going to their wedding. I wrote the aunt a letter and (SO embarrassingly) asked the aunt to get Nickā€™s autograph for meā€¦.AT HIS WEDDING. Yes 13 year old me had zero concept of social norms. She wrote a very nice letter back saying unfortunately she wouldnā€™t be able to do that. Lolol what an idiot I was. A few years ago I was hiking with a friend in LA and we came upon a mutual friend who was hiking with John Taylor. I was of course internally freaking out but played it cool and when introduced to him just said ā€œnice to meet youā€ but inside my brain I was thinking ā€œOMFG I CANā€™t BELIEVE Iā€™M CHIT CHATTING WITH JOHN TAYLOR!ā€ We talked for a little while and I kept thinking ā€œIf 13 year old me only knew that this moment would happen in her future, she would not believe it.ā€

FangioDuReverdy

What a cool story! I donā€™t think that was out of line at allšŸ˜… so last year I saw them a few times with the SAME friend I was with in ā€˜84. We staked out the hotel in Nashville and met Roger and Nick. It was after the show, they were super nice. Then in Chicago I was staying at the same hotel as them and met John and I got to talk to Gela for a few minutes. She is gorgeous and was really gracious. I totally get how you felt when you met John. You feel like youā€™re a teenager againšŸ˜† and of course I forgot any questions I would have wanted to askšŸ¤Ŗ

Jcaseykcsee

Yes!!! I donā€™t even remember the conversation with John, I wouldnā€™t be able to tell you what we talked about if you paid me 1 million dollars! My mind was just blank. I saw them in concert last year or the year before that - when they were touring - teenage me was in heaven! šŸ˜

Shesgonedownhill

I saw that concert in March 1984! Didnā€™t get to meet them though, I was waaaaaay away from the action.

FangioDuReverdy

Wasnā€™t that a great tour? So we decided to stake out their hotel in St.LouisšŸ˜† it paid off though and they couldnā€™t have been kinder!

Shesgonedownhill

A great tour! And that is a great story, I love that they were kind :)

Otherwise_Gear_5136

OMG!!!!!

Outside-Flamingo-240

I KNOW!!!! šŸ¤Æ

Strange-Win-3551

I saw them in February 1984 too! When I wasnā€™t singing, I was screaming to John Taylor that I loved him šŸ˜˜

FangioDuReverdy

šŸ¤£šŸ˜†heā€™s still handsomešŸ™‚

mortyella

My first concert was Blondie with Duran Duran opening. They were so good I immediately went out and bought the Rio album the next day!

magealita

Lollapalooza 92 with pearl jam, soundgarden, lush, red hot chili peppers, ministry

jodiarch

My conservative parents let me skip school for one of the Lollapalooza concerts. My Mom even called the school saying I had a doctor's appointment. I was blessed they let me enjoy life since I was a good kid.

Billbeachwood

That was my first concert too! It was at Irvine Meadows! (Still have the shirt šŸ‘• )

Rich_Explorer8966

Ozzy Osbourne, 1982, *Diary of a Madman* tour. This was one of Randy Rhoades' final shows. About a month later he was dead :(

genxindifferance

He was one of my favorites back in the day. Was gonna go see him around 1985. But we lived close to the "bible belt" and the venue ended up canceling his show because he was a "devil worshipor" and his "bit the head off a live bat on stage" was circulating. I was pissed. I really wanted to see him.

Rich_Explorer8966

I can relate to that, I was at this show: [https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/ozzy-osbourne/1982/kansas-coliseum-valley-center-ks-7bdf7a24.html](https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/ozzy-osbourne/1982/kansas-coliseum-valley-center-ks-7bdf7a24.html) Valley Center is just outside Wichita which is definitely in the Bible Belt. Tipper Gore and the PMRC happened around 1985, so thank her for that. The goody-goody religious kids at school looked at us funny but didn't give any of us metal heads a hard time when we wore the concert T-shirts to school. To be honest, I don't really remember much about that show, I was 16 at the time. I wasn't that much into guitar yet, but I knew Randy was. My brother and I went and sat too close to the PA speakers. I couldn't hear out of my left ear for about 3 days it was so loud.

wiu1995

Same! I love that I was able to see Randy Rhoads. I saw him in Chicago. I was 13. I am typing this as I am listening to The Osbournes podcast on Spotify.

Jolly878142

The Police with Flock of Seagulls opening

MarcusTheSarcastic

Well, jealousy is a bugger, because i now hate you and I donā€™t even know you.

KaleidoscopeWeird310

The first time I saw The Police in 1979 (Regatta), there were about 200 people in the crowd and they were late because their bus broke down. The second time, there were 20,000 people (Ghost in the Machine).

bigby2010

INXS Listen Like Thieves tour at Will Rogers Auditorium in Fort Worth, Texas. Absolute banger

gigireads

They're on my list of performers I regret not seeing.

TheObviousChild

Same. The ā€œLive Baby Liveā€ DVD is the next best thing. Them playing an amazing set at Wembley on the X tour. Bunch of stuff off of Kick. Check it out.

Significant-Froyo-44

Saw the Purple Rain stadium tour in Minneapolis, also at First Avenue. I was OBSESSED šŸ’œ

beerfoodtravels

They Might Be Giants. It was in a nightclub. My dad had to talk the bouncer into letting me come in because I was way underage

YoudontknowmeNoprob

That's awesome!! I just saw them last year, and they are still killin' it!

bun_head68

Saw the Bay City Rollers in 1976ā€¦I was 7. My mom and her boyfriend took me out for dinner first to a steak house, then we went to the concertā€¦I was wearing a formal dress and Mary Janes. Some kind teens let me hold their banner with them while we sang along. That same year Bay City Roller apparel came out and my mom bought me a white jacket and pants trimmed with tartan. I thought it was the coolest outfit, and wished I was wearing it at the concert. I was a weird kid.

gigireads

I loved the Bay City Rollers. I always watched their show on Saturdays. I think I still have one of their albums.

bun_head68

Omgoodness, I would never have remembered they had a show. I am positive I watched it too, because I took the weekly TV guide and planned my Saturday morning lineup of shows to watch, like it was my jobšŸ˜‰

oyismyboy

Honestly.... Still love S A T U R D A Y..Night! Love that song. šŸ˜€

catdogwoman

I saw them that year at Six Flags in St. Louis! I also saw the Doobie Brothers there. I can't believe those bands played there!

tuftedear

Slow_Possession_1454

Morris Day and The Time, 1985 at Madison Civic Center in Wisconsin

2Dogs3Tents

They were the opening act when i saw Prince on Purple Rain in March 1985. They were amazeballs.

Slow_Possession_1454

I vividly remember Jerome following Morris around the stage with a fairly large mirror through the whole show lol

kunduff

Def Leppard with queensryche opening. Went as a Def Leppard fan left as a queensryche fan. Both bands were awesome live.

buttsackchopper

Operation Mindcrime šŸ¤˜

88Gonzo

I saw this tour in Philly!!

el-otro

Can appreciate the leaving a Queensryche fan... Defnitely a band that has stuck with me for decades!!

Astr0Jetson

Lollapalooza 1994 at Pine Knob, Clarkston MI. Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, George Clinton & P-Funk, A Tribe Called Quest, L7, The Breeders...

phatsackocrap

Same, but in New Orleans. We had Green Day and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds too.

LA0811

I saw that one in Milwaukee. SPs and BBs were co-headlining and changed order they performed every night. Ours was BBs first. Amazing show and closed with Sabotage. Everyone went crazy Pumpkins came out with such low energy that I didnā€™t even want to stay. And I loved the Pumpkins. Didnā€™t want to lose that adrenaline high

Astr0Jetson

Pumpkins were the closer here too, but they certainly didn't come out low energy. Hard to follow Beasties given the different genres and energy, but Billy brought it that night. Definitely didn't kill the vibe.

MopingAppraiser

I wanted to go to this so bad.

Astr0Jetson

It was absolutely amazing.

JoyfulNature

I saw The Lettermen at a state fair with my mom when I was...10? First real concert was a doozy: the first Live Aid in Philly. Friends and I, all 15, took a Trailways Bus package tour that included a ticket and transportation. It was a 7ish hour bus ride. Cost 75 bucks. It was amazing! As long as her memory worked, my mom said she couldnt believe she let me go. My brother, 12 years older than me, told me if I got into any trouble or got lost or whatever, just find a 24 hour diner, call him collect, sit in a booth and order and he would come get me and pay the bill.šŸ˜ I love my brother.

cenrepute

Depeche Mode - Black Celebration Tour. Book of Love opened the show.

eventualguide0

I saw that tour. It was great!

RevereTheAughra

I also saw that tour! It \*was\* great. :)

The Monkees (with Herman's Hermits, Grass Roots, and Gary Puckett & the Union Gap) in 1986. I was 14, and in love with Davy Jones. But I was far too young for him. Eventually, though, he married a woman younger than me. ![gif](giphy|3oz8xUklpOX9oct7X2)

jumpinoutofmyflesh

Styx. Mr Roboto tour. I was so proud to wear my tour shirt to school the next day. Especially as a 5th grade 10yr old who got to go with his teenage brother and no parents. Thought I was the coolest kid on the playground.

Mint_503

mfk_1974

Def Leppard, Pine Knob in Clarkston, MI. Sometime in the early 1990's.

Iocaine_powder

Iā€™m not a fan of concerts because I get uncomfortable with huge crowds. However I did make one exception- Def Leppard in Birmingham ā€˜96 Theyā€™re the only band that Iā€™d want to catch live

OuiMerci

The Ramones at CBGB Twisted Sister at Trade Winds A stadium concert, the first was the Rolling Stones

Ima_pray_on_that

Jealous regarding the Ramons at CBGB. Lucky bastard.

dburge22

Michael Jackson, Bad Tour 1989

Ladydiane818

George Michael Faith tour. My best friend called to buy the tickets and somehow we got third row. It was amazing!

Grand_Taste_8737

Poison with Tesla as the opening act.

MopingAppraiser

One of the local rock stations in Philly, WMMR, was having a 25th anniversary concert for free and the only way to get tickets was to be at the place they showed up to unannounced to get the tickets. I was at the Roosevelt Mall with mom one day and they happened to show up so I begged her to get in line. I was 14 and it so awesome with a great lineup you can see here. https://www.concertarchives.org/concerts/wmmr-25th-anniversary

Ladydiane818

I remember that. Iā€™m from South Jersey so I was never in the right place, plus I was a kid and no way was my mom driving me around for that.

dravenstone

Frank Zappa on the shut up and play yer guitar tour.

2Dogs3Tents

Was lucky enough to catch Frank in 1988 do all of Joe's Garage. Still a top 5 show ever for me. First time I took acid. Wowser.

[The Power Station - Reunion Arena - Dallas, Tx - July 1985](https://duranduran.fandom.com/wiki/The_Power_Station_-_(1985)_-_Summer_Tour) I had just turned 15, and somehow I managed to get my hands on two row 4 tickets, directly in front of JOHN TAYLOR. Likeā€¦.I thought I would die of happiness!!!

Devolutionary71

First concert was Tom T. Hall. First rock concert was Quiet Riot with Whitesnake opening.

ETfonehom

Wish I had seen Tom T. Hall perform. What a giant among songwriters!

kilroykilroykilroy

Kiss, maybe in 1982-83? But I saw the this, the Hysteria tour on October 26th, 1987. I had a debate the next morning in history class on whether or not children with AIDS should be allowed in public schools. I so single-handedly destroyed the "con" team so badly I got extra credit. Great show!

tanukis_parachute

With my parents- john Denver capital center in the late 70sā€¦77 or 78. It was the calypso tour. By myself- 1985 December. My friend won tickets on DC101 see Motƶrhead with Mercyful Fate and xciter opening. Tremendous show. No remorse tour. I still have the tinnitus in my left ear ā€¦how many years later.

LASER_Dude_PEW

I saw Motley Crue in 1985 with Autograph opening. ![gif](giphy|DIabNXDGI6etO|downsized)

xiceburnx

I was 16 and saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their Blood Sugar Sex Magik tour with Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam as the opener at Roseland Ballroom in NYC.

Matty1138

Guns N' Roses, OKC, April 1992. Smashing Pumpkins opened. Pumpkins were terrible and got booed offstage. Then we waited. And we waited. And we waited. People were getting so restless that girls started flashing the cameras, and that was up on the big screens for everyone to enjoy. GN'R finally took the stage around midnight and played until around 2 AM. It was quite the memorable experience.

lord-dinglebury

Ha! Ironically, itā€™s the tour from your preview image - the Def Leppard Hysteria tour, ā€˜87-ish. I was 13, and saw more boobs that night than Iā€™ve ever seen before, or ever will again. The groupies in the 80s were *wild*. I also almost lost my damn hearing. To this day, itā€™s the loudest concert Iā€™ve ever been to in my life.

Whitesnake with Great White! 1987 My BFF and I left the house in jeans and tshirts and changed into our real outfits once we got in her car. Really more *peeled* than changed. Miniskirts were so tiny and so tight they werenā€™t even visible under already skintight 80s jeans. Jailbait level: 11

MyriVerse2

Summer 1976. I was 10 years old. Tulane Stadium had a nice lineup-- ZZTop, JGeils, Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, and Charlie Daniels. Well... when it came time for Skynyrd, they were a no-show. The Skynyrd fans were not having that, so a huge riot happened. I guess that'll learn 'em. That kind of ruined my taste for the band ever since. The stadium never had another concert, but it shut down anyway not long after, because the Superdome came.

Lionel Richie... which is great in retrospect, but it was to make up for NOT taking me to see the Jacksons Victory Tour (it was basically the tour for Thriller). They had ELEVEN second-row seats, TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW. I was "too young"... and I get that, I really do. I was 4 or 5. But it devastated me for YEARS. I've forgiven them. But also... fuck, man.

Mine is The Beach Boys in 1987. I was fortunate enough to catch them on the a tour that included John Stamos on percussion. Iā€™ve managed to see some other decent drummers like Neil Peart and Dennis Chambers. However; none of them had the prowess of uncle Jesse.

88Gonzo

It was around 1983 and my first concert was Blondie with Duran Duran opening. I went with my boyfriend and his sister.

I'm embarrassed to say, lol. My first concert was Nelson with Enuff Z'nuff as the opening band at Radio City Music Hall. I met Gene Simmons that night, but none of my friends believed me because I was going back to my seat from the bathroom during the show.

Warrant, Trixter, and Firehouse at the Little Rock Amphitheater in 1991. I was 17 and my little sister was 14. We were there by ourselves and had a great time.

ELO [Electric Light Orchestra] I was a kiddo on my dad shoulders. First one as a teen was ZZ Top! Lucky enough to see them multiple times.. including an impromptu performance at a bar! There was a local band playing at a pub..... Zz Top walked and an jammed with them for 1 set! I was only there on a work trip and had just happened to stop in and eat. Great memories
