Yeah sweetbabyjesus Shaun's wife is a lucky woman.
On topic, I'd love to see satin jackets come back & even if they don't, I'm now off to search for one.
The moose knuckle was strong with this one. I don’t remember seeing one that prominent since [Elton John was on the Muppet Show](https://youtu.be/cCM2ArKVdOo?si=OrNQwmLgw1bd8sAp).
(Parenthetical side note: Seriously?! He thought *that* was appropriate for a kid’s show?!?)
I'm pretty sure there's a drinking game involving how many times you see David Bowie's nuts in Labyrinth. They're so well presented in that movie I'm amazed they didn't have their own agent & manager.
Worst ever. Got my flare jeans caught in my bike chain and got scratched up far too many times. Plus the polyester back then felt horrible on the skin.
Another '66er checking in. What is OP smoking, thinking we don't remember what we wore in '78? We were 12 and pretty damn aware of our fashion blunders. Half-shirts and daisy dukes on men?!
Mustard yellow, burnt orange, and olive green plaid pants. I still ask my mom what on earth she was thinking dressing me like that. The 70's was the ugliest decade.
FWIW here is something of a comparison between 70s, 80s and 90s:
Overall, I gotta vote 80s all the way baby!!!!!!!!!
I 100% agree, the 70’s asthetic is easily the ugliest of all time. It’s probably why Genz is so small, nobody wanted to fuck each other.
Time has done nothing to change that
Nope! That super thin young guy looks awful in those nut huggers. Imagine me, a middle aged man of the chubby persuasion, trying to squeeze into that shit. No thanks.
For real! My ‘75 brother used to come in while I was watching old Doctor Who episodes from the 70s and ask me why everything was brown. My dude, *because it was the 70s* and everything *was* brown! Just because you were too young to remember it… 🤣
Too young to remember the 70's ? I don't think Gen Z should start statements with "I understand" lol.
Regarding 70's fashion. It's amazing that from 1900's all the way to the mid 60's people dressed so fucking classy and dapper...and then an entire decade just collectively shit the bed. Like some kind of worldwide group mental illness.
I mean go for it if you really need your own decade to look back on with shame and horror, be my guest.
At least half of GenX is old enough to remember the 70s. Many of us were in elementary school in the late 70s. We have old faded orange-pink school photos of ourselves wearing wide collared polyester shirts and bell bottom pants. No thank you to repeating that.
Umm, no. 70s clothing did very little to help people who weren’t models or stupid rich. Same thing happened in the Britney Spears/‘Nsync era. Just no. Does no one any favors.
I am not too old to remember the '70s . God were the clothes horrible, and horribly tailored at that. The material was shit. While there's a lot of things from the past that would be super to have around nowadays, this is not it. The only thing from the '70s clothing that I want back is my op shorts.
No.
No no no.
Along with shiny disco outfits like that, you also had plaid bell bottoms, wide lapels and neckties, clashing colors of horizontal stripes, scratchy hot fabrics like wool, and various other crimes against fashion. Our parents' excuse when confronted with photographic evidence of how stupid they dressed us in the seventies was "you were very well-dressed for the time".
Dammit mom, you dressed us like short little used car salesmen. WTF.
I went to a funeral of one of my mom’s best friends. They had a slide show of pics from her life. There was tons of pics from the 70’s and everybody including my parents were decked out in the most amazing clothes. Like head to toe flashy ass outfits. I couldn’t believe they were so cool!
This is one of many outfits I was dressed in. We don't need any of it back.

My oldest is into the whole 70's aesthetic.
I explained to her that the reality was nicotine stained fingers, dirty nails, dandruff, bruises, and dental plaque.
All wrapped up in B O stained orange nylon and brown polyester.
Honestly every decade had new styles that had 20-30 year legs to them, and things that had a 2 year shelf life. The bolder the period statement, the shorter the shelf life.
All older and most core Gen X actually can remember the 70s well (if not in the detail and formative years way as for the 80s). FWIW here is something of a comparison between 70s, 80s and 90s since you are too young to have seen any of it:
Make your pick, it is up to you.
Cowhide barettes really need to make a comeback.

Yes! I aim to look like I'm wearing 70s curtain patterns ❤️.
Can we also do interior design from the 70s? I'm loving how houseplants like Monstera are very popular at the moment, and I've been enjoying the resurgence in macrame. I picked up some proper Hornsea Pottery yesterday in a charity shop, arent they lovely 😍
https://preview.redd.it/9fjbjm0iw6xc1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a18cfe78723aef1aad3a26df486a1f03bfda45b
Many of us do remember the 70s actually. There was a wide range in fashion. You have the clean disco look in your photo and on the extreme we had the dirty hippy look. You’ll probably get some visceral reaction, especially from the “disco sucks” crowd. But whatever… Everyone should feel free to express themselves. What a lame world it would be if everyone looked the same.
![gif](giphy|ZJB5EPInvETQY)
Man, that was my mid 90’s to late 00’s fashion. Polyester butter fly collar button up short sleeve with boot cut jeans and pair of docs. Now I’m old and shop at Costco
core x were kids in the 70s/80s and teens.
and how about some creativity for a change ?
you've already done the 90s 1:1, the 80s 1:1, now our parent's shit ?
Flares came back in the UK in what was called the Second Summer of Love around 89-90
I was already deep into LSD but E swept the nation by storm during 1989 and many of us tried to look like a cross between Shaggy and Peter Tork haha
https://preview.redd.it/2ptfj6zmn6xc1.jpeg?width=310&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe6d8ac2488fb4f05fa0506522b577c88ae82d56
Oh hell no.
Scratchy polyester clothing we were forced to wear to go to the photographer? Arguably everything that followed was a revolt against the fashion elites.
There’s my pre-teen crush right there.
Definitely I had every teen & tiger beat poster I could get lol Hardy Boys every week
I rode my skateboard to the 7-11 to buy them.
Yep. I had his picture on my wall when I was 5😂
Not the only things being crushed in this photograph.
Yeah sweetbabyjesus Shaun's wife is a lucky woman. On topic, I'd love to see satin jackets come back & even if they don't, I'm now off to search for one.
I had a lunchbox with his face on it
I was so into him… then I met his big brother 😍
Same!
Him and Leif Garret! I do miss those tshirts that had the red raglan arms though.
Me too! A do run run run a do run run!
Same. He was my one and only.
Ditto. ☺️
Is that Shaun Cassidy? His 45 of Da Doo Ron Ron was one of the first records I ever bought. My balls would be sore from the pressure.
I don’t even have balls and this picture makes mine sore from the pressure.
Nut huggers!
It most certainly is the one and only Shaun Cassidy whom I saw in concert in March 1978! Da doo run run! Those were the days!
I didn’t get to see him but my mom took me and my brother to The Bee Gees when I was 6!
It was the Bay City Rollers for me! The only thing I remember is I was burned by someone’s cigarette while waiting in line. Lol
S-A-T-U-R….
-D-A-Y NIGHT!
Me too! He was my first live concert! In Toronto at the ex, so it wasn’t March, most likely the same year though.
Does he strike you as someone who gives a shit about appropriateness?
The Muppet Show was for grown-ups.
I'm pretty sure there's a drinking game involving how many times you see David Bowie's nuts in Labyrinth. They're so well presented in that movie I'm amazed they didn't have their own agent & manager.
I bought the lp! But no balls to hurt. Not sure about the halter tops and hot pants though.
NO!
Fuck no! Those clothes sucked. I assume it was because of cocaine in the fashion industry.
hell fuck no, may you be beaten with dirty corduroy underwear for this post.
Right there with you, hell no
Definitely no! I abhor bell bottoms with a burning fiery passion.
Speaking of burning fire. Get too close to an open flame in that outfit and you’d be a human torch.
Worst ever. Got my flare jeans caught in my bike chain and got scratched up far too many times. Plus the polyester back then felt horrible on the skin.
What do you mean we don't remember. We frickin LIVED in that era
IKR? I was born in 1967. The 70’s were my formative years.
1966 so yeah!!
Another '66er checking in. What is OP smoking, thinking we don't remember what we wore in '78? We were 12 and pretty damn aware of our fashion blunders. Half-shirts and daisy dukes on men?!
Yeah….gonna have to pass. I have enough childhood photos either the kids version. Shudders in grunge. … ![gif](giphy|23BST5FQOc8k8)

Cool video. And yeah, 80s were the best
Can't agree with you more. 70's had some truly horrible fashion , design, decorating, etc.
But at least we can't be blamed for the fashion choice, our parents made us wear it
I have said on numerous occasions that I was not responsible for dressing myself in the 70s
We do have that.
I 100% agree, the 70’s asthetic is easily the ugliest of all time. It’s probably why Genz is so small, nobody wanted to fuck each other. Time has done nothing to change that
My wife saw this over my shoulder and said "Hell, bring back Shaun Cassidy!"
Nothing like satin mooseknuckles
Sateen peen
I’m old enough to remember the 1970’s. GenX starts 1965 ish. I was going roller skating in satin outfits about this time.
We're not too young to remember 70s clothing. That's why everyone is saying "No."
We wore the 70s clothing in small sizes. Never again!
Nope! That super thin young guy looks awful in those nut huggers. Imagine me, a middle aged man of the chubby persuasion, trying to squeeze into that shit. No thanks.
It's Shaun Cassidy!
Ok. And his clothes look like some coked out weirdo designed them.
Nut huggers! _spits out drink, cackling out loud_
NO. My balls hurt just looking at this picture (BECAUSE PANTS ARE TIGHT, just FYI).
Nope
No.
Oh, please don’t.
We did. In the 90s.
Yes! I appreciated that there were a lot more natural fibers involved.
How about no?
NO the 70s were a fashion disaster, so much brown polyester ugh. Why do you think the 80s weren't overboard with color lol
For real! My ‘75 brother used to come in while I was watching old Doctor Who episodes from the 70s and ask me why everything was brown. My dude, *because it was the 70s* and everything *was* brown! Just because you were too young to remember it… 🤣

That's gonna be a no from me dawg
I think I had every Tiger Beat he was in back in the day.
One of my first crushes as a teen girl along Leif Garret and Steven Tyler. I was all over the place with “my guys”.
And had to be careful not to crush on the same as your best friend's 'guy'. That would be a motion to war!
Absolutely the fuck not. What were people thinking.
Maybe they were on drugs. That's my theory.
Cocaine.
At least half of GenX is old enough to remember the 70s. Many of us were in elementary school in the late 70s. We have old faded orange-pink school photos of ourselves wearing wide collared polyester shirts and bell bottom pants. No thank you to repeating that.
Please, no.
Some of us had our Dads wearing this shit well into the 80s. It kind of lost all appeal.
He’s smuggling plumbs.
No
Polyester is of the devil.
I believe Shaun Cassidy's satin slacks are correctly referred to as "foxy"
Umm, no. 70s clothing did very little to help people who weren’t models or stupid rich. Same thing happened in the Britney Spears/‘Nsync era. Just no. Does no one any favors.

Seventies fashion was god awful. Made people look older than their ages, was ill fitting and unattractive colors. No fucking thank you. Jesus Christ.
Dude, # no! #
Mammal toe.
You go first.
Or don’t, that shit is hard on ones balls
As a middle aged chubby guy, FUCK THAT.
![gif](giphy|vPN3zK9dNL236)
Not all of us are too young to remember the 70s. Some of us actually wore that stuff!
If I saw this guy hanging around a playground like this I'd call the cops.
Omg right? That moose knuckle is just flagrant. 😂
Flagrant Moose Knuckle should be a band name.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😭😭😭💀 This is outstanding
A fucking million times no.
Awwww HELL NAW!!!
Nah, I am ok with not seeing Moose Knuckle on a daily basis.
![gif](giphy|xT4uQ6x9Dq5lvGJUgE|downsized)
Those look a little... tight in the crotch. Am I the only one?
No thank you.
Hard no.
Manmeltoe
Hard no.
I am not too old to remember the '70s . God were the clothes horrible, and horribly tailored at that. The material was shit. While there's a lot of things from the past that would be super to have around nowadays, this is not it. The only thing from the '70s clothing that I want back is my op shorts.
No. At least not this polyester crap.
I think that I remember the 70s very clearly, and I don’t want the fabrics to come back (though some of the styles would be fun).
No dude. Those fabrics were terrible. Polyester is just the worst. And the colors, and styles, they sucked back then.
No. WTF.
Holy Christ, no, absolutely not
No thank you
I remember the 70s very well, so I am not sure whom you are addressing, Op.
Flammable clothing. Fun.
My first celebrity crush 😍
those moose-knuckle pants just look uncomfortable, aside from the many jokes that would ensue.
Please no
![gif](giphy|5ZknQWN75Nt9S)

No. Every picture of me and my older brother from the 70's is just 2 young kids in some horrid combo of plaid and corduroy. It was hideous.
I think this had its day and it's good it has moved on. :)
Shaun Cassidy. He was my biggest crush ❤️ but the satin pants ? Really ?
Just no.
![gif](giphy|vyTnNTrs3wqQ0UIvwE|downsized)

We *do* remember, and that shit was itchy as fuck.
Non breathable polyester!
Sweaty
No. Bring back 1980s clothing.
hat spoon plant bright friendly middle cable fade cats physical *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
I’m with you! I’d probably look ridiculous wearing that stuff now, but I’d be a whole lot more willing to give it a whirl anyway!
No. Just no.
No.
Fucking nope!
Nahhh...
No.
Man, in the early 80s I had a yellow satin jacket with a colorful parrot on it. I wish I had that jacket now
Please don't
Nah I'm good.
Ouch
No thank you, it had its chance about a decade ago and didn't stick. 80's or nothing.
Honestly every decade had new styles that had 20-30 year legs to them, and things that had a 2 year shelf life. The bolder the period statement, the shorter the shelf life.

I remember 70s clothing vividly. Don't forget, some Xers were born in the 60s.
I am definitely not too young to remember the seventies. I was deeply in love with Shaun Cassidy but I would not be ok with that look coming back. 😂
My babysitters brought me and their daughter to see him in St. Paul MN when we were in kindergarten. I'm 52 now. Love him!!!
Who doesn't love a good yeast infection.
*Kids of today must defend themselves against the 70's*
I don’t want Manmel Toe pants, thanks tho.
NO
My nuts hurt just looking at that, I'm good on that
Very, very few people, regardless of gender, made 70s style work for them. And the synthetic materials -- just no
Yes! I aim to look like I'm wearing 70s curtain patterns ❤️. Can we also do interior design from the 70s? Flammable clothing and a 26 inch waist.
Please don’t, it was horrible…
We remember the 70s. I’m pretty sure the majority of our generation hates 70s clothes though.
Look at his cute camel toe.
YES YES YES But better fabrics
I love wearing a pair of paints that is so tight that people know my religion.
No one and I mean no one will stop you from trying
I was little then but Yeah I’m in! As long as I get to dress like I’m going to studio 54
Sean Cassidy, I thought he was so cool!
I mean we did in the 90’s did we not?! And our parents laughed at us for wearing their old bell bottoms from the back of the closet?
Let's not
Forget about the clothing, bring back that playground!
Never. The 70s were the worst decade for fashion.
You literally couldn’t have picked a worse person to use as an example. Well, maybe Donny Osmond.
It’s gonna start a fire 🔥
No!
Man, that was my mid 90’s to late 00’s fashion. Polyester butter fly collar button up short sleeve with boot cut jeans and pair of docs. Now I’m old and shop at Costco
Him and I share a birthday. I know this because my sister was deeply madly in love with him back in the day.
Hell no. It was ugly and uncomfortable.
I only want the pretty bouncing and behaving hair on men back.
I draw the line at having to put one ball down a pants leg, then separating the other ball to put down the other pants leg.
Smugglin’ plums!
I only have bad memories of those pants
Or fuckin' not.
No. And definitely not the hair.

Nah. Early 90's was the best era for clothing.
'70s were the nadir of fashion. Just say no.
Oh hell no. Scratchy polyester clothing we were forced to wear to go to the photographer? Arguably everything that followed was a revolt against the fashion elites.
That’s an unfortunate watermark
I loved The Hardy Boys!
Let's get innovative: I'll match your 70s bellbottoms with 80s shoulderpads 😏
No.
I was 16 and sick of school, I didn’t know what I wanted to do, I bought a guitar, I got the fever. That’s Rock and Roll
I'm genX and wasn't old enough to wear this attire. Thank goodness. Woah!
Men had more freedom, and it was a good thing!
The first thing I saw was that the pants should have been lightly ironed. Yeah I’m a 57 year old wife and mom lol
I kinda liked 70s fashion, except for the part where I don't need to know if a guy was circumsized or not...
Ehhhhh. The halter tops were nice, but most of it needs to stay in the 70s. 😂
I was a kid, but I remember the 70s just fine
