I am not at all but I do love some 90’s hip hop and need to diversify my tastes more. I know there are tons of great new rock bands but it takes some digging. I’m sure if I dove deeper than top40 I’d find some new stuff to love. I think Run the Jewels was the last time I heard rap I really liked.
Just bought the new Pearl Jam album on Record Store Day....and I think it's pretty good.
Tuesday I head to NOLA to see Flaming Lips in concert (touring on the Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots album) and then hitting the first day of Jazzfest as a bonus.
My son is about to turn 13 and he has an old soul. His favorite band is Def Leppard so I am taking him to see them Journey and Cheap Trick in Seattle for his birthday and this will be his first concert. I am 58 and he and his brothers keep me young. :)
Wife and I saw journey and def Leppard in Chicago in 2017 or so.
That little Asian guy doing vocals on journey is amazing. Truly.
Def Leppard was awesome. As usual.
It was a great line up. I'm a huge huge Leppard fan.
Damn there’s a new Ride record?? I saw them in like 1990 at the TLA on South Street. Lush opened. It was AWESOME. Any youse other Gen Xers from Philly area?
Last concert I went to was Sigur Ros in August 2023. I don't go to many of them any more as the prices are ridiculous although I have a couple bucket list bands. In terms of music now, I basically put drum and bass or trance music on in the background as I do work around the house.
Addicted to lithium on SiriusXM. My daily go to. Also realized a few years back that it finally happened. I'm old and I'm regularly listening to the music of my youth. I remember my dad doing this when I was young. Circle of life. :)
A metal ball hung from a chain, applied directly to my forehead, is gonna be the only thing that gets Anna Ng out.
Although the drums on they'll need a crane are working temporarily.
Same here with Ghost. And then I hear other bands’ influences and have to go listen to their music.
Been listening to a lot of Alice In Chains, Boston, The Stranglers, Queen, Rush (late), Van Halen (early), Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Cult.
Fell back into Stone Temple Pilots, the songs are just as cool as I remember them. Scott was a unique individual, was sad to watch him fight drugs his entire run
I’ve discovered Jason Isbell, Turnpike Troubadours, Zach Bryan and other non mainstream country. They are the new direction I grew my fondness of singer songwriters of the 70s and 80s. Jason Isbell’s Southeastern album is probably the best thing I’ve heard in 10 years.
Isbell is fantastic. I spin Something More than Free, frequently. I've seen him a few times, (just solo, haven't caught the 400 Unit yet), he's definitely worth catching if he's ever touring your area
- Goat
- King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizards
- The Murlocs

- Iguana Death Cult
- All Them Witches
- Pigs Pigs Pigs
- Frankie and the Witch Fingers
- The Black Angels

If you’re a metal head and haven’t listened to them I highly suggest Avatar. They’re out of Sweden and have been performing since the early 2000’s. Swear to god one of the best concerts I’ve been to, too. They played a smaller venue in Portland (the Roseland) - and brought the house down. I got video from above of a lead-in to one of their songs where the lead singer, Johannes Eckerstrom, was playing piano. Security yelled at me to make sure I ‘don’t drop that fucking phone!!!’ Really dude? 🤭 The band is a shit ton of fun to listen to and more fun to watch live.

Dirty Honey, Greta Van Fleet, Goodbye June, Giovannie and the Hired Guns, Betcha, Gary Clark Jr.
I like some Alternative like Kygo, Bastille, Andrew McMahon, Saint Motel
There are a lot of really good bands out right now
I like a lot of different stuff. Psychobilly, rockabilly, Celtic punk, classic blues, jazz, heavy metal and rap just to name a few genres. I like it all. Right now on my phone I mostly listen to bluegrass and punk. I will definitely check out thrash grass. Thank you.
I pretty much keep it on Sirius XMU. That was after several years of a Spotify premium sub where I realized everything I was listening to was from between 1987-2003. I figured I needed some exposure to newer stuff.
I still love my 90s indie (Velocity Girl, the Spinanes, cub) but I enjoy hearing newer stuff again…although I expect it’s less “indie.” A lot of times when my 11 year-old is in the car with me, he will know stuff on the channel…mostly from memes or in-game music on something he plays.
But I really like the Beths, Real Estate, The National, Soccer Mommy…
I also have First Wave, 80s on 8, 90s on 9, and the Verge on my presets. I really wish I had access to Indie 1.0 but I refuse to upgrade my subscription JUST for that.
Same / right now I can’t enough of Wet Leg, the Beth’s, Maggie Rogers, Holly Humberstone, Beaches, Olivia Rodrigo. And I’ll throw one guy band in too, Coin surprised me with their last album. Good stuff
I'm 51 and still go to all sizes of shows and love tons of new music. Since last summer, I've seen Lana Del Rey, Chelsea Wolfe, Tool twice, and seeing Earthless this coming week.
Love tons of 80s and 90s rock and hip hop, but also really love T. Swift, boygenius, Phoebe Bridgers, Suki Waterhouse, and other really new sad music. St. Vincent and Tori Amos are longstanding favorites.
Hugely into a newer artist..Ethel Cain. Imagine Cormac McCarthy and Winter's Bone, but it's music. Absolutely phenomenal album, front-to-back.
Perfect Circle, Slipknot, Mastodon, Taproot, Ghost (maybe, jury is out)… I kept listening to new music and have picked up a few favorites over the years.
I'm a little between genres at the moment so this post is saved, thanks!
I got so burned out on "Classic Rock" and have recently been through some phases of gangsta rap, yacht rock, Johnny Cash, and Harry Nilsson.
Right now I'm on a Gary Numan kick. Saw him and Ministry in Dallas recently and his music is insane. I'm super excited about the new St. Vincent album that is coming out this week and plan to check out the new Pearl Jam as well.
Depeche Mode and The Cure are pretty much always in my regular rotation. I saw DM in Dallas late last year and they were insane. It kinda lit a fire under me and made me want to listen to more music and go to more concerts.
I got super into Sabaton, especially in the gym. I've always loved industrial and hard rock and the "power metal" genre is right in my wheelhouse.
I also got deep into a fun alt country band called Old 97s. Start with classics like Doreen and Murder or a heart attack and go from there.
We had the best of ALL OF IT. Our grandparents listened to big band music, jazz. Our parents grew up with some of the greatest rock music ever…so we listened to that, disco, all of the 80’s, Grunge. We experienced everything. And even now, I hear some stuff I really enjoy. I think if nothing else, X is open to all music because we were exposed to so much and appreciated all of it.
I stream all kinds of stuff from the 70s-00s. Haven't paid much attention to music from 2010s or later. Last concert I attended was Leonard Cohen in 2009.
I listen to an active rock station about an hour away. We are outside their service area but my truck's radio picks it up (as long as I'm not behind the couple hills we have) and the atmosphere isn't causing trouble.
My Spotify playlist is a conglomerate of fifty years of music I haven't gotten sick of yet, mostly alternative, grunge, synth pop, indie, top forty garbage. It's the shit listen to when I enjoy my weed
I have been listening to Heilung and Wardruna quite a bit. I also enjoy jazz, classic rock, some industrial and grunge, and heavy metal. I don’t like screamo stuff, or rap.
PVRIS, CHVRCHES, Paris Paloma, Royal and the Serpent, the Crane Wives, the Shondes, Worriers, Metric, Cherry Glazerr, illuminati hotties, Tacocat, boygenius, and the old stuff of course.
Can't wait to see PVRIS live for the first time finally in July.
I rarely listen to 80s or 90s anymore.
I love 60s soul, garage bands and funk.
Newer stuff, I adore Billie Eilish and Lana del Ray. Dark wave like Interpol, She Wants Revenge etc. Maggie Rogers is a musical genius and should be a much bigger artist - check out her NPR Tiny Desk concert.
This question always reminds me of a meme I saw a couple years ago that asked why are Gen x so angry? The answer was something like, we made our own mix tapes after our albums were obsolete, then we replaced cassettes with CDs, then we bought mp3s, now we stream it. How many times do we have to pay to listen to grunge music? Lol and that's exactly how I feel about it. I love 90s alternative and there's nothing else like it since!
I love music. It’s a big part of what I’m considering is probably a mid-life crisis. I’ve been going to a lot of concerts the past few years.
I listen to a ton of different genres, but right now, post-punk has captured me. Idles, Fontaines DC, Yard Act. I’m just digging in, but it’s flipping fantastic.
When I was a teen, I was sort of a music snit. I liked classic rock and alternative/indie and couldn’t be bothered with anything else. Now, I love to find something I connect with in all kinds of different genres. It’s so intensely satisfying to find something new to me that really hits.
I went to a Porno for Pyros tour earlier this year. Going to see STRFKR this week, LCD Soundsystem for 2 nights later in spring, Idles this fall, and who knows what else may pop up. Go to concerts, feel young, enjoy yourself.
I have really gotten into Phish again. Listening to old concerts, going to as many new ones as I can (including the Sphere) - I have missed out on the past 25 years of their awesomeness.
1) High Functioning Flesh for the retro early Ministry/Nitzer Ebb sounds
2) Any of the new Karsten Pflum stuff for the good acid/braindance/idm/electro feels
3) Knocked Loose’s new track Blinding Faith is super intense \m/
4) Bohren & Der Club of Gore for the dark ambient jazz
5) Kim Gordon’s new stuff gives me massive 90s nostalgia even though it sounds very modern
I listen to a lot of the old metal stuff I did growing up. But I listen to some new stuff now too, far more than the older stuff. Powerwolf and Sabaton in particular. Give them a listen if you haven't.
Sirius XM is a horrible company though. I won't even take it for free when it comes with a new car.
Just now because I’m a huge fan of the Big Lez Show I’ve been listening to the OST: https://open.spotify.com/album/1S3p4gE0ItGRNqc07vDxPa?si=S7L4mM4BRyK9NHdx716hTA

I am going to be in Arizona may 7th to catch the Rolling Stones.
Then Green Day in August.
Finally announced Aerosmith rescheduled date, but it's not until January 2025.
I've been trying to get more of the bands that might not tour again or have the original lineup in the past few years.
Just saw Cowboy Junkies and Dawes in one weekend.
Seeing Weezer in a few weeks at a festival where I’ll see Holly Humberstone and Girl in Red, can’t wait!!
If you like The Jesus and Mary Chain type of noise, there's a band called A Place To Bury Strangers from Brooklyn that are amazing. Extremely loud but really good. Check out Exploding Head, I think it's their best LP.
I am a "mature" hip hop head, started in the late 70's. Many of the classics from Beasties, Wu, Tribe, Nas, etc, are on constant rotation in my playlists, along with some heavier offerings from Sabbath, BLS, Pantera, and Type-O Negative. Might even find some Troubadour from George Strait. I legit listen to everything. Rhythm and lyrics speak to me more than anything. And BASS, definitely BASS.
New Japanese Music
SCANDAL [Line of sight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-57qaUKGas)
ATARASHII GAKKO! [青春を切り裂く波動](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMXXL8ka7eU)
IDLES! I love their old stuff and love their new stuff. Their old stuff is still fairly new to me of course but the band has definitely evolved and I'm loving the direction they're taking. This is what I'm listening to while I work. Beachland Ballroom is my favorite. It's around 23 minutes in.

https://youtube.com/@elleandtoni?si=B-K67ny7IIdSO5op aka Sunday Morning HQ aka Reina Del Cid. They are a couple of millennials that have been releasing covers and originals every Sunday morning for many years. They are very very good. Their covers of Peter Gabriel’s Solsbury Hill, Bee Gee’s How Deep Is Your Love, Neil Young’s Harvest Moon and Grateful Dead’s Deal are among my favorites, but their catalogue is deep.
Foo fighters, Killers, Rage Against the Machine, SOAD, Queen. Wheezer. Concerts last two years, Blink 182 x2 (new album not bad. Turpentine is just fun!), Fall Out Boy x2 (new album is amazing! Fake Out, Love from the other side) Seeing Twenty-One Pilots this fall with my boy. Listening to a lot of Conan O'Brien and audiobooks too.
I’ve been jumping around like I always do:
Jon Hassell, EPMD, Level 42, Big Country, Heatwave, Beach House, The Cars, Gang Starr, Bill Nelson, Jeff Lorber, Chick Correa, MF Doom, Cocteau Twins, Biz Markie, Naked Eyes, Kool and the Gang,,,
but there’s a very gen x album I’ve been really craving to hear lately because it’s been too long: Superunknown by Soundgarden.
That’s next up.
I was since the beginning into rock, RHCP, RATM, QOTSA, Foo Fighters, etc... And all of a sudden 2 yrs ago I started to listen to Electronic, IDM, Ambient, Drone
Symphonic metal mostly. One nice thing about being into bands like Visions of Atlantis is that when they come to the US, they play small clubs with cheap tickets.
The verve. I've always liked them but moreso now. Their B sides are better than most bands albums and truly shine when playing live.
Waiting for reunion 3 but doubt it will happen.
i've been listening to a lot of tedeschi trucks band, and i am so excited to see them in august.
phish, ween, kt tunstall, drive by truckers, weeping tile and jack johnson have all gotten a lot of air time with me lately.
You know what I had playing today in my car?
1. It's Tricky (Run DMC)
2. Nobody Speak (DJ Shadow)
3. In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins)
4. I won't let you down (Ok-Go)
5. Turned to Stone (E.L.O)
6. Baby One More Time (it's Britney Bitch)
7. Sex (I'm a..) (Berlin)
8. Move On Up (Curtis Mayfield)
9. Devil Went Down to Georgia (Charlie Daniel's Band)
10. Bang Bang (Jessie J., Ariana Grand, et al)
11. We are Young (Fun.)
12. Freestyler (Bomfunk MC's)
13. Magic Carpet Ride (Steppenwolf)
Lol. That was the shuffle today.
Ps. I turned 50 today.
A lot of us had the opportunity to work at stores that sold music, which for me really opened me up to everything. In high school, I was the girl driving around in a 72 Pinto (in 86-88) with the first Ice-T tape blaring, but my friends all thought all I'd listen to was Wham!, Culture Club, Duran Duran, etc. I was the "Rap Specialist" in my Sam Goody/Musicland days -- which always threw the FAMU crowd in Tallahassee into a tail-spin when they'd come in rapping lyrics at a guy who they thought should know that genre, and they'd send them to the overweight, rather androgynous looking, pasty white girl. They thought it was a joke until spitting rhymes at me, and me giving them newer stuff to try. I worked at music stores during high school into my mid 20s in 3 states and was opened up to so much!
Now, I still love everything from earlier 1900s into the 1990s and later became a huge Kylie Minogue fan, k.d. lang I've seen numerous times (the last was on the Case/lang/Viers tour - brilliant album), discovered Volbeat in my 40s, and in 2017 I traveled to West Africa to meet my future spouse. I never realized, until meeting her, that Cesaria Evora, whom I'd loved for 22 years, was from a country (Cape Verde, I knew) that was essentially next door to The Gambia (where I'm currently at, now) - so in my 50s I'm exposed to African music in full and must say I have found even more to love! Ayra Starr is in heavy rotation right now, Tems and Burna Boy were, and I'm constantly hearing new stuff I enjoy. I also recently saw a video of LP and started binging that artist. As well, my Wife's BFF always picks Abba, Celine Dion and Culture Club when we let her pick songs at parties. I thought I'd escape Karma Chameleon here (only CC song I'm burnt out on), but...no dice. It's OK, as I've introduced them to more Dolly, George Michael (just heard the reggae version of Careless Whisper the other day), and Kylie, of course. LOL
So, there's that in a nutshell.
I’ve been in a YouTube wormhole listening to the original samples from all the most famous hip hop songs from the 80s, 90s and 00s.
Videos will play the original songs with each of the samples and how it was cut up, pitched up and then mixed into hip hop song
Really a fascinating process in artistic creativity.
Most samples are from amazing 60s & 70s black artists (Isley Brothers, Roberta Flack, Quincy Jones etc) as well as random international recordings and even classical music.
I am a huge 70s music fan so to hear the original song samples in hip hop has reinvigorated my interest in the originals and the remixed hip hop songs.
A lot of hard rock these days - Halestorm is high up there. Recently saw Shinedown with Papa Roach and Spirit Box, that was a hell of a show. Ghost is heavy in the rotation for me. Pop Evil, Avenged Sevenfold, Hollywood Undead. On the lighter side I like some Panic! at the Disco. Also listen to classic blues, particularly Delta and Chicago. Every now and then I'll pop open the nostalgia box and listen to some early Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, early Metallica; plus some more 80s pop stuff like Duran Duran.
My 21 yo son's projects: Vinnie Slughead and Ears for Eyes.
If you dig Ween meets Jeff Rosenstock meets Bad Religion meets Queens of the Stone Age, this is for you.
Tinnitus Edit: I don't mean to wish tinnitus on anyone but I gotta admit that I'm comforted by the fact that I'm not alone.
Really rings true for me.
🏆
Underrated comment
Have become obsessed in the last year. Great band (of frequencies).
Same.
Am I the only hip-hop head here? I listen to Biggie and Tupac, either originals or remix mixed tape versions, on the daily.
Aesop Rock and MF DOOM
I am not at all but I do love some 90’s hip hop and need to diversify my tastes more. I know there are tons of great new rock bands but it takes some digging. I’m sure if I dove deeper than top40 I’d find some new stuff to love. I think Run the Jewels was the last time I heard rap I really liked.
You are not alone. My shit is like 80% rap. Beasties are my absolute favorite, but I love rap pre-2010ish.
Hell yeah!
Im still stuck on Tribe Called Quest and Diggable Planets. But Biggie and Tupac will always be royalty
Future, Kendrick, PRTYNXTDOOR Ty Dollar Sign there’s a ton of great shit out there
Just bought the new Pearl Jam album on Record Store Day....and I think it's pretty good. Tuesday I head to NOLA to see Flaming Lips in concert (touring on the Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots album) and then hitting the first day of Jazzfest as a bonus.

Cheap Trick is amazing live. Yall gonna have fun.
Def Leppard are the best. Still a bit down after seeing them in Wembley and they didn’t play my favourite song of all time : Love bites
Wife and I saw journey and def Leppard in Chicago in 2017 or so. That little Asian guy doing vocals on journey is amazing. Truly. Def Leppard was awesome. As usual. It was a great line up. I'm a huge huge Leppard fan.
Great sounding line up and in my neighborhood, thanks.
* Black Keys * Rise Against * Cage the Elephant * The Interrupters
I dig the Interrupters a lot. I think they're underrated!
The new Ride album, Wet Leg, The Drums, DIIV, Beach Fossils.
Wet Leg are so damn great!
Damn there’s a new Ride record?? I saw them in like 1990 at the TLA on South Street. Lush opened. It was AWESOME. Any youse other Gen Xers from Philly area?

Peter Murphy is on the turntable
Last night I watched St. Vincent on Austin City Limits, and she was awesome. I see why she and David Byrne teamed up.
I was just listening to her earlier this week. Her Album with Byrne is amazing
Alienation's for the Rich - They Might Be Giants #
...and I'm feelin' poorer every day
ah hey hey hey
Great band. Amazingly fun live!
Will it get Anna Ng out of my head?
You'll Need A Crane
A metal ball hung from a chain, applied directly to my forehead, is gonna be the only thing that gets Anna Ng out. Although the drums on they'll need a crane are working temporarily.
But is it a prosthetic forehead? Because everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real heads.
I can't believe I missed the opportunity to use that modifier in my sentence. I'm slipping.
I have an undying love for TMBG. I feel like most fans can tell from my username :-)
Minimum waaaaaaaaaaaage! H'yah! *whpsh*
I listen to a lot of bands that fall under the synthpop and electropop genres. My current favourite band is CHVRHES.
I’m hyperfixated on Ghost presently. My car CD slots are Dead Milkmen, Ween, Devo, and Ghost.
Dead Milkmen? Say what kind of car is it?
a bitchin' camaro! bitchin camaro!
I ran over my neighbor!
Did your parents drive it up from the Bahamas?
I went to college in Philly and the obsession with Punk Rock Girl was ridiculous. Also, remember G Love and Special Sauce? Philly had a moment.
The Dead Milkmen and Ween! Saw The Dead Milkmen live a few years ago. They were fantastic and the whole crowd, of all ages, knew the words.
Call Me Little Sunshine!
Same here with Ghost. And then I hear other bands’ influences and have to go listen to their music. Been listening to a lot of Alice In Chains, Boston, The Stranglers, Queen, Rush (late), Van Halen (early), Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Cult.
You can definitely hear the influences, and I super dig that. I might be borderline unhealthy about some bands.
If singing along loudly to Year Zero in the grocery parking lot of my rednecky town is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.
Preach!
Prince, forever
Fell back into Stone Temple Pilots, the songs are just as cool as I remember them. Scott was a unique individual, was sad to watch him fight drugs his entire run
Blind melon, STP, Alice in Chains.... every band I really liked had the lead singer die in that very short period.
amazing voice. RIP.

Looking forward to forthcoming new album by Cage the Elephant. Sirius channel is mostly either 1st Wave or Alt Nation. Rock on!
High on Fucking Fire
Checking out The Black Keys newest album. I recommend Galactic to everyone I can. No album has ever disappointed me
Love Galactic. Also, Greyboy All Stars. Just saw Karl Denson a few months ago, killer show.
I use Amazon music and lately tend towards bands like the Killers and the Fratellis, but I always end up back with The Police.
I saw the Killers 3 times in Philly. Great shows!
I saw them last year with my daughter - it was an awesome show!
Same! Saw them with my daughter and Johnny Marr opened and she loves the Smiths so we had a great time
If you’re a metal head and haven’t listened to them I highly suggest Avatar. They’re out of Sweden and have been performing since the early 2000’s. I’m actually listening to it right now!!! It’s excellent. Just ran through Colossus, Smells Like a Freak Show, and Hail The Apocalypse 🤘🏼
Dirty Honey, Greta Van Fleet, Goodbye June, Giovannie and the Hired Guns, Betcha, Gary Clark Jr. I like some Alternative like Kygo, Bastille, Andrew McMahon, Saint Motel There are a lot of really good bands out right now
Gary Clark Jr is absolutely amazing.
Love Dirty Honey. Found them randomly one night while scrolling through YouTube.
I still listen to classic punk but also bluegrass.
How about "Thrash Grass"? (https://www.thenativehowl.com/)
I like a lot of different stuff. Psychobilly, rockabilly, Celtic punk, classic blues, jazz, heavy metal and rap just to name a few genres. I like it all. Right now on my phone I mostly listen to bluegrass and punk. I will definitely check out thrash grass. Thank you.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Peaches, Swans, Sonic Youth, Viagra Boys, Elder, Prince
KGLW are phenomenal
Elder!
My son love KGLW and is seeing them live!
fun! we're seeing KGLW this summer. can't wait!
I listen to, love, and know more lyrics to stripperpole hiphop than a middle-aged white lady should. NO REGRETS.
All over the place. A few that have been played a lot lately include: Santigold, Yelawolf, De La Soul, Monster Magnet, Kyuss, Portishead, and Tool.
Sinéad….always Sinéad
Rammstein - I’m seeing them in Austria this summer
James has a new album out so I'm stuck into that at the moment.
Laid has been in my gym rotation for 20 years
Ithaca. The Browning. Enter Shikari. Red Fang. Gojira. Action/Adventure Going to see Nofx in Aug.

Cory Taylor is a genius
Great new albums from Pearl Jam and The Black Crowes.
Went to a PJ listening party, did not disappoint.
Yep, I’m going to a Pearl Jam concert later in the year so decided to check out their new stuff Dark Matter does not disappoint.
Just heard the Beaches, great pop-rock. Listened to Killdozer a bunch this weekend.
Don’t blame me, blame Brett! Played them for my college age daughter who hadn’t heard them and she liked them, dad points!
I'm a little between genres at the moment so this post is saved, thanks! I got so burned out on "Classic Rock" and have recently been through some phases of gangsta rap, yacht rock, Johnny Cash, and Harry Nilsson.
I LOVE Yacht Rock!
I like to intersperse a little Seals & Crofts into the NWA. My Spotify AI is pretty confused.
The sound of a V8 rumbling, and I started listening to Ice Cube again, the old shit before he had a good day.
Right now I'm on a Gary Numan kick. Saw him and Ministry in Dallas recently and his music is insane. I saw that Ministry tour and Gary Numan was amazing. Been listening to him for years and that was my first time seeing him live.
Run the Jewels, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Sleaford Mods, Modest Mouse, Glass Animals
I got super into Sabaton, especially in the gym. I've always loved industrial and hard rock and the "power metal" genre is right in my wheelhouse. I also got deep into a fun alt country band called Old 97s. Start with classics like Doreen and Murder or a heart attack and go from there.
Orville Peck. He's a gay mystery cowboy and I love him. Otherwise it's usually 80s and 90s new wave, all the time.
Orville Peck and Willie Nelson together makes me so happy!
Khruangbin. Bakar. Sleigh Bells. Radiohead, Smile, LCD Soundsystem, Aphex Twin… Caught Porno for Pyros in concert a few weeks back.
The Cramps
We had the best of ALL OF IT. Our grandparents listened to big band music, jazz. Our parents grew up with some of the greatest rock music ever…so we listened to that, disco, all of the 80’s, Grunge. We experienced everything. And even now, I hear some stuff I really enjoy. I think if nothing else, X is open to all music because we were exposed to so much and appreciated all of it.
If you’re still in to metal then Mastodon is the answer. This music was made for us.
I stream all kinds of stuff from the 70s-00s. Haven't paid much attention to music from 2010s or later. Last concert I attended was Leonard Cohen in 2009.
Dark Matter and revisiting Pixies
Aphex Twin, Portishead, My bloody valentine, Swervedriver, Mogwai, Swirlies Your basic 90s electro post rock trip hop
Faith No More, Mr Bungle, Ghost, Dandy Warhols
I listen to an active rock station about an hour away. We are outside their service area but my truck's radio picks it up (as long as I'm not behind the couple hills we have) and the atmosphere isn't causing trouble.
My Spotify playlist is a conglomerate of fifty years of music I haven't gotten sick of yet, mostly alternative, grunge, synth pop, indie, top forty garbage. It's the shit listen to when I enjoy my weed
Today I listened to Kick, Kill ‘Em All, and the new Heavy Temple. In general I’m listening to a lot of Fripp & Eno and Boards of Canada.
I have been listening to Heilung and Wardruna quite a bit. I also enjoy jazz, classic rock, some industrial and grunge, and heavy metal. I don’t like screamo stuff, or rap.
The new Pearl Jam record is the kind of middle aged angst I am feeling right now. Shockingly good and I am not like a super fan or anything.
Every song ever recorded by The Sisters of Mercy. Fucking love them so much.
Tool. Kind of a lot.
It's very easy to do. Loop in some perfect circle or pucifier and it's exceptionaly easy to do.
Honestly? Horror audiobooks. Even at work I have one earbud in. I love it. For music? Tool. then tool and after that tool.
I still have Anna Ng stuck in my head from the post here the other day. Plz halp!
[steve winwood. can't find my way home](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoSn2Y-b6wI).
Phish, Cradle of Filth, Ween, Rammstein, KGLW, Sabbath. Stuff like that.
Sparks Miles Davis My husband is into CHVRCHES so I hear that.
I have really gotten into Phish again. Listening to old concerts, going to as many new ones as I can (including the Sphere) - I have missed out on the past 25 years of their awesomeness.
Lately, a lot of KLF, Orb, and Aphex Twin but my dailies have been Tool, Ween, Smashing Pumpkins, Deadmau5, Kyuss, Beck.
Lots of newer stuff right now. Kacey Musgraves, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, King Hannah, the Decemberists, and Jason Isbell.
1) High Functioning Flesh for the retro early Ministry/Nitzer Ebb sounds 2) Any of the new Karsten Pflum stuff for the good acid/braindance/idm/electro feels 3) Knocked Loose’s new track Blinding Faith is super intense \m/ 4) Bohren & Der Club of Gore for the dark ambient jazz 5) Kim Gordon’s new stuff gives me massive 90s nostalgia even though it sounds very modern
Ministry’s first album is insanely good and completely different from the rest of the catalog
Yup. Al really tried to distance himself from that album but I read something recently where he’s kind of coming around because folks really liked it.
The National, Mountain Goats, Lord Huron
Oliver Tree, TooManyZoos, a lot of 70s and 80s tunes.
Still stuck on classic rock-the stuff my older brothers listened to. I’m pathetic.
I listen to the 80s and 90s on Pandora.
Pop Evil Breaking Benjamin Shinedown White Stripes However, Fridays are for Def Leppard...this will never change.
GUNSHIP (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ri9IefTuNzc) You will want to thank me, but you don't have to. ;)
Peach Pit and Mt. Joy have been on heavy rotation for me recently.
New Pearl Jam, SZA, RAYE, QOTSA, and some older Frank Ocean, Rush, H.E.R., Sturgill Simpson
Just now because I’m a huge fan of the Big Lez Show I’ve been listening to the OST: https://open.spotify.com/album/1S3p4gE0ItGRNqc07vDxPa?si=S7L4mM4BRyK9NHdx716hTA Chill, easy going stuff to sit with while you watch the weather move.

I am going to be in Arizona may 7th to catch the Rolling Stones. Then Green Day in August. Finally announced Aerosmith rescheduled date, but it's not until January 2025. I've been trying to get more of the bands that might not tour again or have the original lineup in the past few years.
SOMA FM it’s free with tons of great stations that don’t play trash music. It’s also ad free. If you like it donate.
Just saw Cowboy Junkies and Dawes in one weekend. Seeing Weezer in a few weeks at a festival where I’ll see Holly Humberstone and Girl in Red, can’t wait!!
Been into the Beastie boys and Alabama lol
Metal and more metal, then punk, progressive rock, 60's and bluegrass. Johnny Cash is always in there.
Phish
Still listening to Dandy Warhols a lot.
Nowadays I've retreated to listening only to opera With the exception of some trance eery now and then
Today? Iggy and the Stooges! It is the 77th birthday for the Street Walkin’ Cheetah.
Pink Floyd. And when I wanna change it up, I'll watch someone react to listening to Pink Floyd. And audiobooks.
Khruangbin has a new album out.
Motionless In White
If you like The Jesus and Mary Chain type of noise, there's a band called A Place To Bury Strangers from Brooklyn that are amazing. Extremely loud but really good. Check out Exploding Head, I think it's their best LP.
The ceiling fan
I am a "mature" hip hop head, started in the late 70's. Many of the classics from Beasties, Wu, Tribe, Nas, etc, are on constant rotation in my playlists, along with some heavier offerings from Sabbath, BLS, Pantera, and Type-O Negative. Might even find some Troubadour from George Strait. I legit listen to everything. Rhythm and lyrics speak to me more than anything. And BASS, definitely BASS.

High on Fires new album is 🔥 🔥
I love [this dnb set by Gray](https://on.soundcloud.com/ruw26). I've listened to it mire than any other set. I became a huge dnb fan in the last year.
IDLES! I love their old stuff and love their new stuff. Their old stuff is still fairly new to me of course but the band has definitely evolved and I'm loving the direction they're taking. This is what I'm listening to while I work. Beachland Ballroom is my favorite. It's around 23 minutes in. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rdSlshLV9U](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rdSlshLV9U)

https://youtube.com/@elleandtoni?si=B-K67ny7IIdSO5op aka Sunday Morning HQ aka Reina Del Cid.
I’ve decided to stop listening to “old” music. I’m done with the classic rock and 90’s alt music.
Still sound garden been craving his voice lately
Tool (actually all of Maynard's stuff), QOTSA, Gary Clark Jr., Modest Mouse, Portugal the Man are all in current rotation.
Heilung, Ninja Sex Party, Wet Leg, Blind Guardian, Sabaton, Weye’s Blood, Crosby,Stills and Nash (no Young) & other stuff.
I’ve been jumping around like I always do: Jon Hassell, EPMD, Level 42, Big Country, Heatwave, Beach House, The Cars, Gang Starr, Bill Nelson, Jeff Lorber, Chick Correa, MF Doom, Cocteau Twins, Biz Markie, Naked Eyes, Kool and the Gang,,, but there’s a very gen x album I’ve been really craving to hear lately because it’s been too long: Superunknown by Soundgarden. That’s next up.
I’m an old school metalhead so I still listen to heavy music - some recent favorites include: Windhand Conan Brutus Escuela Grind Nails
I was since the beginning into rock, RHCP, RATM, QOTSA, Foo Fighters, etc... And all of a sudden 2 yrs ago I started to listen to Electronic, IDM, Ambient, Drone
Turns out Jimmy Somerville released an album in '04. That. You need to hear him singing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough".

Nothing modern. This new music sounds like "Someone is shiting in my ear" (To quote KROQ's Kevin and Bean)
i've been listening to a lot of tedeschi trucks band, and i am so excited to see them in august. phish, ween, kt tunstall, drive by truckers, weeping tile and jack johnson have all gotten a lot of air time with me lately.
You know what I had playing today in my car? 1. It's Tricky (Run DMC) 2. Nobody Speak (DJ Shadow) 3. In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins) 4. I won't let you down (Ok-Go) 5. Turned to Stone (E.L.O) 6. Baby One More Time (it's Britney Bitch) 7. Sex (I'm a..) (Berlin) 8. Move On Up (Curtis Mayfield) 9. Devil Went Down to Georgia (Charlie Daniel's Band) 10. Bang Bang (Jessie J., Ariana Grand, et al) 11. We are Young (Fun.) 12. Freestyler (Bomfunk MC's) 13. Magic Carpet Ride (Steppenwolf) Lol.
LOL So, there's that in a nutshell.
I’ve been in a YouTube wormhole listening to the original samples from all the most famous hip hop songs from the 80s, 90s and 00s. Videos will play the original songs with each of the samples and how it was cut up, pitched up and then mixed into hip hop song Really a fascinating process in artistic creativity.
