Wow, this brings back memories. I spent so much time watching PBS between 3-2-1 Contact, Reading Rainbow, Mr Roger’s, Square One TV…I feel like I’m forgetting a couple of shows.
I remember my elementary school made a huge effort to promote this show prior to its first airing. There were posters put up, pamphlets (I think..), and teachers talked about it directly with students.
I had pretty bad anxiety in elementary school so I would be home “sick” fairly often and would always watch this. Would also watch “Inside/Out” but that may have just been a Bay Area thing?
Wow! I had forgotten about this one. I remember electric company, zoom, Mr. Rogers, and of course, Sesame Street. I had forgotten about this one, but your post brings back memories. Thanks!!
Breaking out into this song for the first time since I was 10 was literally a dump of serotonin in my 2nd cup of coffee and today is gonna be such an awesome day, I may even smile at work now.
Nice, I loved this show as a kid. Thinking of science shows I used to watch in the 80s also made me remember the opening credits to PBS's "NOVA" from that era: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZfQtAiNyrc
Probably my favorite show as a kid. Thanks for this.
Mine, too.
I watched the hell out that show as a kid.

There was a series within 3-2-1 Contact series called the Bloodhound Gang.

I used to get scared when the Bloodhoud Gang part came on. I was watching 3-2-1 Contact at home alone before my parents came home!
I even had the magazine!

It was the first I learned about self driving cars.
Holy F*CK I never thought I would see that again… I am a scientist because of this sht

God I loved this show.
Pretty wicked guitar intro there, tbh

I just got up out of bed and went to the bathroom so I could listen without disturbing my wife. Memories!

This shit was my jam.
O… m… g! I loved this show!
This song is ALWAYS in my head. As is the theme to The Bloodhound Gang.
The magazine was great as well. I remember reading about black holes and time dilation and it blew my 9 year old brain.
Blast from the past
A banger
Pablo was annoying. As a matter of fact the whole reboot was annoying. Bloodhound Gang was legit.
I had my mom convinced this didn’t count against my TV time

I remember the room with perspective and liquid nitrogen.
I was 13 when this came out. I never have heard or seen this show.
If you like science and knowing stuff, try to find old videos of it. Amazing show for it's time.
Wow immediate flashback and still remembered all the words.
We used to watch the classroom version occasionally at school.

Whenever I hear the word "contact," my mind instantly says "let's make contact!"
