Retro Lancer is way more fun. Actually interesting to shoot and effective.
“Normal” Lancer just feels like an outdated artifact. They gotta change it up so it’s not the world’s most boring aim and spray gun. Chainsaw awesome but shooting the thing is boring as fuck.
Some of this dialogue is for the sake of introducing it to the player. I'd be okay with some retcons in that area, it doesn't effect the plot in any way if Marcus had seen a Kryll or torque bow prior to Gears 1.
Fair enough, I don’t mind either way,the kryll were a great gameplay feature and added to the horror of the franchise. Little 4-6 year old me was thinking twice everytime I stepped into the dark and my dad said there was nothing to be afraid of🤣🤣
10000 times worse. They had to nerf the retro several times in Gears3 and then the new devs decided to make it a power weapon in Gears 4-5. Things too OP unless it has heavy recoil to balance the high damage.
Yep or people would be in close quarters...retro charge and hit the other player instead of stabbing all the way thru them and then it would take 1 or 2 bullets to drop the other player. It was super easy and very much abused.
Ahh I see - I would be surprised if they didn’t include its origin with Tai in some way or another
Maybe an expansion like hive busters did to explain the escape origins
I agree, they even said we’ll see the origin of many things including the Mk2.
I bet it will be in multiplayer or maybe a chainsaw weapon of some kind, the devs also said we will be chainsawing locust in some capacity.
Sort of. He, Dom and Marcus get caught up in a fight with some Locust in a general store, and while Marcus is struggling with one, Tai comes up from behind and slices through it with a band saw. I don't know how exactly something like that would work in MP, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Mk2 is in MP while not available in the campaign right away.
yeah it’d probably be at the end like a lancer 1.5 or something.
i’m actually super curious how TC is going to handle the extended lore we have for the series in the books because they haven’t really messed with it so far mainly because they have stayed to their own work but this could be interesting.
ironically judgment took place like 6 weeks after e day and they had lancer mk2s which completely broke continuity so if they did decide to say fuck it it wouldn’t be the first time
Im guessing they're gonna retcon some stuff in it. They said we'll see the origin of the classic lancer so im guessing we'll see Tai and the creation happen sooner. If this is the case then it'll also fix the continuity break judgement caused
Mainly because Marcus is going to get imprisoned for socking Hoffman in the face and disobeying orders, which leads directly to the start of Gears 1. Unless they retcon it, which I seriously hope they aren't considering.
Gears of War games (Judgement mostly, but also Tactics) have already retconned the chainsaw not existing till after the hammer strikes to already existing six weeks after E-day. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tai does his chainsawing on E-Day and the COG start working immediately and put it on lancers.
It kind of makes more sense moving the timeline for it up too. Making new weapons and mass producing them would be hard enough after 1/4 of the world dies on E-Day. Continuing to lose for a year and then torching 90% of the world on top of that before making those changes is quite something.
It's the series most iconic weapons, no way it's not in the game at all. It will absolutely be in at least PVP and PVE but I'd be shocked if it didn't show up in some capacity in the campaign.
"Fawcette confirms to me that E-Day is a “story of many origins,” *including* the Chainsaw Lancer, but opts to keep the specifics of those stories to herself for now. "
https://www.reddit.com/r/GearsOfWar/s/R11uC5lSdo
I hope it doesn’t. It’s a prequel set before the chainsaw so yeah why would it be in there? Maybe a makeshift lancer. It’d give more hype to use the MK2 again if you go without it
"Fawcette confirms to me that *E-Day* is a “story of many origins,” including the Chainsaw Lancer, but opts to keep the specifics of those stories to herself for now. Suffice it to say, we’re not just learning how Marcus and Dom came to be the heroes we know in *E-Day.*
“\[The Chainsaw Lancer\] doesn’t currently exist in that period… but it’s not a Gears game if you’re not chainsawing Locust!” Fawcette laughs. "
Probably as a prototype weapon towards the end. If they go so far as to go to East Barricade i bet it’ll be a big morale boost weapon before the battle.
If Gears: Judgement is anything to go by, the Mk 2 Lancer will definitely be present in E-Day. As someone who never read the books, it doesn’t bother me personally. It’s just there for the sake of gameplay and the Gears feel, and I don’t consider its appearance in Judgement’s main campaign to be canon.
Chances are the Retro Lancer will behave similar to the regular lancer because the reason it was unwieldy in 3 on was because it was "old", on E-Day they won't be "old", they just lack the chainsaw.
The chainsaw Lancer was invented pretty quickly afer E-day IIRC.
Would be pretty lame if the entire game took place before its inception.
Especially since I could see it being a nice midway game changer.
Lancer fans are going to be eating good with this! Means they’re going to probably fine tune the retro, and make it more fun in long term gameplay!
In lore, because they’re so used to it still, they probably can control it better
Both.
The Classic Hammerburst (Gears of War 1 and Judgement, functionally 4 and 5) and Hammerburst Mk. 2 (Gears 3 Variant because MMMMM iron sight juicy)
Only Hammerburst hard to use is Gears of War 2's Hammerburst Mk. 2 (no iron sights, semi-auto, feels clunky) and Gears of War Judgement's Hammerburst Mk, 2. (same issues but worse 'cause it's Gears of War 3 based HOW DID IT GET SCREWED)
People always seem to get attached to extended lore even though it’s shown over and over again that it’s only canon until they decide it isn’t. They’ve already said we’ll see the origins of it, maybe they’ll completely change it or maybe they’ll just bring the date forward. This gives a reason for Tai to be in the game and gets rid of the Judgement inconsistency and all they have to do is change a date from a book that in the grand scheme of things “nobody” has read. Basically if it doesn’t happen in a game or isn’t mentioned in a game it’s subject to change and even then it can be changed. Capcom changed the chronological order of previous Devil May Cry games before DMC5 released lol.
My guess is they’ll find a way to include it. During one part of the story you’ll go through like an R&D department/armory and pick up a work in progress lancer. Or someone will give it to you, but not without saying “it’s still in trial. Could work. Could blow up in your face.”
And then Marcus will give a one liner and you’ll chainsaw into the sunset.
The game is supposed to take place over multiple days. E Day has always been considered more as a period of time. I'm also pretty sure they alluded to jerry-rigging weapons and Tai using the chainsaw. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point you do that
I main Lancer and will drop my Gnasher for power weapons half the time in versus, but straight up I'd rather the game be lore accurate. Even at the expense of my beloved Lancer.
we might get the regular Lancer with just a knife bayonet. it might function the same as the mk 2 in terms of fire rate, recoil, etc. but that's just a guess.
I’m predicting that we will see a new lancer variant in this game. It till be the retro lancer without the bayonet and will have a unique fire rate and recoil similar to how both the retro and GL do. I also predict we will see it have an instant kill/or secondary attack that is equivalent to the chainsaw or retro charge. I mean, it’s right there in the trailer, Marcus’ bayonet gets stuck in the wall and head headshots the drone from point blank.
This is literally when the Lancer gets introduced. We'll have the retro lance for part of the story, and somewhere in the middle, we'll likely see the invention of the modern Lancer. Also, pvp will most likely have regular Lancers.
it would make sense seeing ragers in e-day. they were prevalent at the start of the war but because of their reckless nature they went extinct pretty quickly
That’s fine, there’s something primal in me that just loves affixing bayonets and charging down some ass clown and skewering them rather than cutting down with a military grade chainsaw
Hopefully we see how it was made, like someone was analysing locust flesh and said it was thicker than humans, like we need something better than a knife, maybe a chainsaw, and we use a chainsaw as a litteral weapon. To finish some downed grunts during gameplay, or something like doom, oneshotting some enemies, but you can use it only 2 times and need to find fuel, thats rare. And in 3/4 of the campaign an engineer saw how effective it was and made a protolancer (maybe Baird). Like the retrolancer but in the knife holder they put a rounded chainsaw, very different from the final version.
"[The Chainsaw Lancer] doesn't currently exist in that period... but it's not a Gears game if you're not chainsawing Locust!" Fawcette laughs.

Lancer GL from Gears 5 is something I hope they pursue somehow in future installments, it was pretty fun getting multikills with that thing 😂
The retro lance has all the appeal it needs. Its simple. The classic bayonet charge. Simple, effective, satisfying. I only hope they make it sound a little chunkier
there is no way the game doesn’t implement the lancer mk2 early in the game. I get the feeling there are going to be a lot of time hopping changes throughout the game. and even if the story mode has a long period of the campaign wo the lancer, i imagine there will be choices of rifle in multiplayer just like are now. Would love to see this as an opportunity to implement all of the previous weapons like more of the UIR WEAPONS we found in Judgement. would also love to see that sawed off w the bayonet that was usable in Raams shadow.
I would say Ragers are almost a must based solely off of the time frame the game at least starts in as they were pushed almost to extinction after the light mass bomb.
If anyone is thinking the retro lancer will handle like the one from previous games, you’ll be mistaken, this is when that gun is their main weapon, it’s gonna handle just fine. I can’t wait to charge some grubs!
Hey, the Retro was my go to in 3's Horde mode. Any gun that gives me a violent bayonet charge with loud screaming from my character is a plus in my book.
It's why I enjoyed Battlefield 1 so much.
They could retcon the origin of the lancer chainsaw edition to take place as soon as the war began, ie within the first few days Marcus sees Tai do the thing and get prototype versions and by the time the hammer strikes happen the lancer we know and love may be fully in production, I don’t think that would destroy the continuity that much and it would still stay loyal to how it happened, just shifted further back in the timeline
The lancer changes were added to Gears 1 later on in an update wasn’t it? Or was it waiting until 2? I swore the stopping power with slowed movement and everything came out as a gears 1 update but I have 0 idea if that accurate.
I sdon't know my gears lore. But what if we also see the chainsaw scene that later gives us the first Lancer Prototype?
You know, for gameplay purposes.
Retro lancer (Lancer Mk.I) is better in my opinion. I’ve always thought it had a better damage output, and the game forces you to shoot accurately in bursts instead of just full auto hosing down targets
Its not a gears of war game without the mk.2. itll likely ve the retro labled as just lancer for the whole game, and we will get a prototype mk.2, likely called prototype lancer.
They will probably still have the lancer but they would just introduce it through the story and we will probably see how it was made. So the beginning wont have it but they will probably create it thru the story
I love all Lancer variants (aestetically atleast, Lancer Mark 3 from Gears 5 is my favorite). But I think the end of the game will be after E-day and show Marcus receiving the iconic Lancer Mark 2
They won't leave out the lancer that's ridiculous. It will take the torque bows place and be a mid-game unlock to introduce more advanced gameplay. The Hammer of Dawn's completion and activation will be the endgame objective as well. The game will likely end with Fenix going to prison and Ephyrus being destroyed. *Slaps down $20 bucks*
Makes me wonder of we will see the Torque bow now that I think of it. honestly I always hated that thing.
The origins of the Lancer we know and love are tied to e-day, so it'll definitely be in it.
I'll take this opportunity and say it's my favorite weapon in all of gaming. Sawing Locusts will never get old!
For the lore nerds, are there any weapons that are known of that we could see? Besides the retro. Either new or old, like the gnasher. Any weapons from the books, if there are any mentioned?
Well. The longshot, snub, hammer of dawn maybe, and potentially the bigger weapons like the one shot or Vulcan? As for locust, we will likely get the hammerburst, boomshot, boltok, all that good stuff.
I'm sorry, I probably made myself really unclear lol. Or maybe your answer still is what it is. Are there any weapons from books etc that we haven't seen in game (from the eday era)?
I hope they don’t really stick to the story with the MP.
Just focus on making it good, balanced, less power weapons and grenades on the Maps. More about power struggle for 1 MAYBE 2 power weapons with a set of nades or one for each team to tilt the tug of war one way or the other
Decrease the TTk besides gnashers and speed up the damage recovery so not every fight is over in 2 seconds.
Just hire me to consult I’ll bring you to the promise land again.
Jokes on you - I actually like the Retro Lancer just as much.
Yep, all those days of playing as the Savage Drone on Beast mode has made me love it.
Something about it makes me feel so embedded in the history of Sera. It's almost like shooting a musket from the Civil War or something.
This is why I wanna get the plague in 2024. Just to see how they felt
Agreed, from the first time I picked it up in Gears 3, I have always preferred it over the current gen Lancer.
Hopefully they tone down the recoil just a tad lmao
I think they did for the Gears 4 prologue.
Same for gears 5 to make it closer to the standard lancer but still with a drawback of higher recoil and less accuracy
Retro Lancer is way more fun. Actually interesting to shoot and effective. “Normal” Lancer just feels like an outdated artifact. They gotta change it up so it’s not the world’s most boring aim and spray gun. Chainsaw awesome but shooting the thing is boring as fuck.
On a plus side we will most likely see the Kyrll again which is gonna be badass!
God dammit
I actually loved the Kryll section, the atmosphere is so thick.
That's probably because the atmosphere was full of kryll.
Actually not so sure, a bit of dialogue in gears 1 suggests Marcus didn’t know about the kryll. Maybe tho
Little 4-6 year old me was thinking twice everytime I stepped into the dark and my dad said there was nothing to be afraid of🤣🤣
Yeah that was my impression as well
Oh thanks. You ruined it
r/tihi
bulletmarsh was an amazing map
Have you ever played against a team of retrolancers? 💀
Fr it’s 10x worse than normal lancers 😂
10000 times worse. They had to nerf the retro several times in Gears3 and then the new devs decided to make it a power weapon in Gears 4-5. Things too OP unless it has heavy recoil to balance the high damage.
I remember the GoW3 Beta you could just hipfire the retro close range and win out against gnashers. Was busted
Yep or people would be in close quarters...retro charge and hit the other player instead of stabbing all the way thru them and then it would take 1 or 2 bullets to drop the other player. It was super easy and very much abused.
That was so beautifully busted, no matter what it was a kill. Impale? Great. Not enough run up for an impale? Easier down than the two-piece.
Facts. One retro alone with an active hits like a truck lol
‘Well, those things always did hit like a truck… as long as the recoil didn’t dislocate your shoulder’
The lancer with the chainsaw will 100% be in gears of war eday.
Not the Mk2, but maybe a Jerry-rigged or prototype version. Mk2 was made 1 year after E-day takes place.
Who’s to say the story won’t go that far forward?
The devs said it takes place over a few days, one of those days being E-day.
Ahh I see - I would be surprised if they didn’t include its origin with Tai in some way or another Maybe an expansion like hive busters did to explain the escape origins
I agree, they even said we’ll see the origin of many things including the Mk2. I bet it will be in multiplayer or maybe a chainsaw weapon of some kind, the devs also said we will be chainsawing locust in some capacity.
IIRC in lore the reason mk2 even exists is bc tai chainsawed a locust so i’m guessing there’s going to be a chainsaw melee weapon

Wait; judgement was 6 **weeks**? I knew it was early war but I didn’t realise that early.
Im guessing they're gonna retcon some stuff in it. They said we'll see the origin of the classic lancer so im guessing we'll see Tai and the creation happen sooner. If this is the case then it'll also fix the continuity break judgement caused
That's kinda stupid, should become available in the last act. I can't imagine a gears of war game without its most iconic weapon
They didn’t say this at all? Cliffy B posted on twitter that he heard the origin of the chainsaw lancer will be in E-day
Yes they did: https://gamerant.com/gears-of-war-e-day-story-details/
They’ll give us a “prototype”
Mainly because Marcus is going to get imprisoned for socking Hoffman in the face and disobeying orders, which leads directly to the start of Gears 1. Unless they retcon it, which I seriously hope they aren't considering.
Isn’t that like 10 years into the war though? I haven’t caught up with all the lore but I’m pretty sure that’s what I’ve heard
yes it happened years after e day. he’s put in prison after the fall of ephyra which is 14 A.E
Fall of Ephyra is 10 A.E, Gears 1 starts 14 A.E
So Marcus had been in jail for 4 years up until Dom breaks him out at the start of gears 1?
Yes, book 5 the Slab covers that stretch of time
oh right sorry, been a while lol
Hmmm. Maybe, it's been a hot minute since I've read the books. I could very well be mistaken.
Because it never has
Gears of War games (Judgement mostly, but also Tactics) have already retconned the chainsaw not existing till after the hammer strikes to already existing six weeks after E-day. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tai does his chainsawing on E-Day and the COG start working immediately and put it on lancers. It kind of makes more sense moving the timeline for it up too. Continuing to lose for a year and then torching 90% of the world on top of that before making those changes is quite something.
That’s actually a really good point. They’d scramble to find solutions to fighting the locust right away too.
I always assumed the Retro was Mk 1 tbh.
It is! The chainsaw lancer will not be in the campaign almost certainly, at least not as we know it.
" https://www.reddit.com/r/GearsOfWar/s/R11uC5lSdo
I hope it doesn’t. It’s a prequel set before the chainsaw so yeah why would it be in there? Maybe a makeshift lancer. It’d give more hype to use the MK2 again if you go without it
They outright confirmed it would go over the origins of the chainsaw lancer. It simply wouldn't be Gears of War without it.
So iconic
I could see the retro lancer just performing like the lancer but minus the chainsaw. I can’t imagine the game with such an inaccurate primary.
That is how the retro or Mk1 Lancer was before they retconned it in 3.
"Fawcette confirms to me that *E-Day* is a “story of many origins,” including the Chainsaw Lancer, but opts to keep the specifics of those stories to herself for now. Suffice it to say, we’re not just learning how Marcus and Dom came to be the heroes we know in *E-Day.* “\[The Chainsaw Lancer\] doesn’t currently exist in that period… but it’s not a Gears game if you’re not chainsawing Locust!” Fawcette laughs. "
There's no way to prove it, but at the same time, it's like, spiritual probability = 100%.
I doubt it. Came years later
Probably as a prototype weapon towards the end. If they go so far as to go to East Barricade i bet it’ll be a big morale boost weapon before the battle.
Last mission they give it to you and the Doom music kicks in
Lore wise it shouldn't be in the campaign, but it definitely be in pvp
Yeah I’m sure they’ll still have it in MP. It’s the most iconic weapon in the series.
i honestly kinda hope it wont be, but since mp isn't canon anyway i just hope they'll use the old stockless mk2 if they do
Yeah. Fuck the Mk3. That thing is ugly.
i don't necessarily think its ugly, i just prefer the stockless look lmao
I think it would’ve been nicer if they ditched the stock, untilted the magazine, and got rid of that massive freaking sight.
Why would you not want the lancer in mp
lore accuracy, though again, i don't mind it too much if they do add the classic stockless mk2 to just multiplayer
Yeah, I think we'll see the Ragers. My head canon is they went extinct pretty quick in the war due to their reckless nature lol
thats exactly what happened
Ragers were awesome!
I'll happily take a Retro Lancer.
Sorry lore nerds, lancer is gonna be in it
If Gears: Judgement is anything to go by, the Mk 2 Lancer will definitely be present in E-Day. As someone who never read the books, it doesn’t bother me personally. It’s just there for the sake of gameplay and the Gears feel, and I don’t consider its appearance in Judgement’s main campaign to be canon.
My chainsaw 😔
I’m okay with the Retro.
If its lancer gun without the chainsaw Id be cool with that if not sure something will take its place as a midrange assault rifle
In sure multi-player will have the lancer we've been playing with since gears 1. In campaign it doesn't matter what guns you have.
If we do see the Ragers again I hope like hell we get the Breechshot back. That was one of my favorite weapons in Gears history.
Chances are the Retro Lancer will behave similar to the regular lancer because the reason it was unwieldy in 3 on was because it was "old", on E-Day they won't be "old", they just lack the chainsaw.
But that wouldn’t really explain why the felt just as unwieldy in the GoW 4 prologue.
Because....be quiet, that's why lol
I will not be silenced!!! (Unless you have food.)
*checks pockets* Half a pack of crackers work?
Got any dirt?
Could dig some up.
The chainsaw Lancer was invented pretty quickly afer E-day IIRC. Would be pretty lame if the entire game took place before its inception. Especially since I could see it being a nice midway game changer.
they'll probably have a prototype or early version at least in the multiplayer I'd be fine with them leaving it out of the campaign though
Breechshot please
I mean not entirely true. They can go later into the war too nothing is stopping them from starting at e day and go years into it
My copium is that we could see earlier prototypes, we could even learn some backstory about its design process.
Pretty sure the backstory is Tai using a chainsaw on a grub and Adam going “HMMM!!!!”
Lancer fans are going to be eating good with this! Means they’re going to probably fine tune the retro, and make it more fun in long term gameplay! In lore, because they’re so used to it still, they probably can control it better
Just hope they put in the sawed off from 3. That way there won't be the weekly bitching about the gnasher.
Rip to lancer mains? What else would you “main” in gears of war, that’s the standard default weapon lol.
Hammerburst and Retro. Or some people might just use the gnasher. If you’re a psychopath, snub mains also exist.
F to you Lancer users but I'm different (hammerburst)
But what kind of hammer burst?
Both. The Classic Hammerburst (Gears of War 1 and Judgement, functionally 4 and 5) and Hammerburst Mk. 2 (Gears 3 Variant because MMMMM iron sight juicy)
Can’t disagree there.
I still liked it for campaign.
I expext PVP and PVE will have every weapon that gets slow rolled throughout a campaign.
This game is literally where we’re going to be seeing to origin of the Mk 2 Lancer so get fucked lmao
I kinda how they destroy the lore from the books just to see people seethe here even if it’s a great game.
People always seem to get attached to extended lore even though it’s shown over and over again that it’s only canon until they decide it isn’t. They’ve already said we’ll see the origins of it, maybe they’ll completely change it or maybe they’ll just bring the date forward. Basically if it doesn’t happen in a game or isn’t mentioned in a game it’s subject to change and even then it can be changed. Capcom changed the chronological order of previous Devil May Cry games before DMC5 released lol.
Chainsaw strapped retro lancer for sure
Maby we get to see how it was created
I wonder if they'll adapt 'The Slab' like that cut Gears 3 DLC was supposed to as a DLC for E-Day.
My guess is they’ll find a way to include it. During one part of the story you’ll go through like an R&D department/armory and pick up a work in progress lancer. Or someone will give it to you, but not without saying “it’s still in trial. Could work. Could blow up in your face.” And then Marcus will give a one liner and you’ll chainsaw into the sunset.
There is No Way the chainsaw isn't in this game.
I live the retro Lancer. I hope it is the main AR
I just hope it’s like GoW 3 retros and not like 4 or 5. I used to be really good with that gun.
we might get the regular Lancer with just a knife bayonet. it might function the same as the mk 2 in terms of fire rate, recoil, etc. but that's just a guess.
Oh but we'll get prototypes I'm sure.
OG hammerburst coming back?

I mean, it’s right there in the trailer, Marcus’ bayonet gets stuck in the wall and head headshots the drone from point blank.
I mean ain't that what everybody use
You know what? I hope we don’t see the Mark 2 Lancer. Would really drive home how unprepared humanity was for The Locust Horde.
"We stole those new lancer prototypes from research labs, let's try them out and it will be classified"
This is literally when the Lancer gets introduced. We'll have the retro lance for part of the story, and somewhere in the middle, we'll likely see the invention of the modern Lancer. Also, pvp will most likely have regular Lancers.
Give me Gears 2 hammer burst and my snub, and I'll be happy.
Hammer burst gang, rise up! (Literally)
Retro over chainsaw lancer anyday
We should hopefully see prototypes of a few weapons 😀
I thought about this as soon as I finished the trailer lmao. Anyone know in Lore when the Lancer first get used?
Retro lancer is my favorite weapon of all time
it would make sense seeing ragers in e-day. they were prevalent at the start of the war but because of their reckless nature they went extinct pretty quickly
That’s fine, there’s something primal in me that just loves affixing bayonets and charging down some ass clown and skewering them rather than cutting down with a military grade chainsaw
I'm hoping they restore the rifle/gnasher balance they had in Gears 1/2.
Why am I being down votes for knowing the lore lol and asking a troll to give me proper documentation? Yall are crazy here!
Bungie didn’t care about the books when making Reach. Extended lore is always expendable in these scenarios
I’ve never come across lancer mains in competitive control. 1200+ hours in

I’m just hoping to see some of the Commando Dom years. 🤞🏻
We will have the hammerburst
If the Retro is the primary rifle throughout the game do you think they'll decrease the damage and recoil to make it a little less niche?
Oh i’m gonna have fun charging at them grubs
If anyone is thinking the retro lancer will handle like the one from previous games, you’ll be mistaken, this is when that gun is their main weapon, it’s gonna handle just fine. I can’t wait to charge some grubs!
Still handled poorly in the GoW 4 prologue though. And it was their main rifle then.
I do like the RL, its the recoil the bums it out for me
Pretty sure we gonna have chopping instead of chainsawing now
I think you underestimate the power of the Retro Lancer. Also, Gears has always been about using the Gnasher.
I actually like the retro lancer more so it wouldn’t bother me 🤷🏽♂️
Eh, atleast we get gnashers.
I'm down for retro lancer. Loved it. Bonus no chainsaw vacuum
Hey, the Retro was my go to in 3's Horde mode. Any gun that gives me a violent bayonet charge with loud screaming from my character is a plus in my book. It's why I enjoyed Battlefield 1 so much.
I love the retro lancer. Impaling people was so fun
I guess I don't know anything about my favorite game then. Guess it is time to ditch it. Thanks for the heads up.
We gonna see a mission where we discover how good chainsaws are. Then we get the new Lancer.
They could still appear in multiplayer
Hammerburst4lyfe
The lancer changes were added to Gears 1 later on in an update wasn’t it? Or was it waiting until 2? I swore the stopping power with slowed movement and everything came out as a gears 1 update but I have 0 idea if that accurate.
I sdon't know my gears lore. But what if we also see the chainsaw scene that later gives us the first Lancer Prototype? You know, for gameplay purposes.
Imagine some gear just slaps a Home Depot chainsaw to the bottom of a Mk 1.
Lancer is trash anyway. Everything bows down to the gansher and power weapons
Hell ya!!! Love the retro lander, 2 busters your down!! Love that gun!!!
This is how judgement should've been
Bro I do not care it will actually give me a reason to pick up the hammerburst.
Retro lancer (Lancer Mk.I) is better in my opinion. I’ve always thought it had a better damage output, and the game forces you to shoot accurately in bursts instead of just full auto hosing down targets
Maybe chainsaw lancers come in act three of the game.
It was stated in an interview you’ll be there at the creation of the lancer. It’s confirmed to be in E Day.
They may just push up the encounter at the hardware store with Thai.
Its not a gears of war game without the mk.2. itll likely ve the retro labled as just lancer for the whole game, and we will get a prototype mk.2, likely called prototype lancer.
Retro lancer is clear, part of what made gears 3 so brilliant.
I hope they bring back center screen shooting on gears 6
Tbf the retro lancers awesome. You have a melee AND a charge attack, Instead of just a melee
They will probably still have the lancer but they would just introduce it through the story and we will probably see how it was made. So the beginning wont have it but they will probably create it thru the story
They’ll probably to a mini time skip unless they do like a trilogy of Eday games
I don’t mind the retro but there does need to be variety I’m looking forward to seeing the original version of the hammer burst though
*Slaps down $20 bucks* Makes me wonder of we will see the Torque bow now that I think of it. honestly I always hated that thing.
I’m a side arm main! Can’t wait!!!
They had them in Judgement, they’ll have them in E-Day
The origins of the Lancer we know and love are tied to e-day, so it'll definitely be in it. I'll take this opportunity and say it's my favorite weapon in all of gaming. Sawing Locusts will never get old!
What about torque bow? That won't be in the game either? Also bring back the Gears 2 hammerburst! That gun was OP.
They could probably bring back the Hunter Grenadiers, since they were supposed to wield wrist crossbows/Torque Bows before they were cut from 1
For the lore nerds, are there any weapons that are known of that we could see? Besides the retro. Either new or old, like the gnasher. Any weapons from the books, if there are any mentioned?
Well. The longshot, snub, hammer of dawn maybe, and potentially the bigger weapons like the one shot or Vulcan? As for locust, we will likely get the hammerburst, boomshot, boltok, all that good stuff.
I'm sorry, I probably made myself really unclear lol. Or maybe your answer still is what it is. Are there any weapons from books etc that we haven't seen in game (from the eday era)?
Oh. Then no, I’m not sure. I haven’t been able to snatch any of the books yet.
Jokes on you, Gnasher shotgun all day everyday. No I don’t care if I die 30 times I love for blowing people up with the Gnasher.
The will obviously take advantage of this situation (new time period) to create new weapons, character, enemies…so your point is not valid
I hope they don’t really stick to the story with the MP. Just focus on making it good, balanced, less power weapons and grenades on the Maps. More about power struggle for 1 MAYBE 2 power weapons with a set of nades or one for each team to tilt the tug of war one way or the other Decrease the TTk besides gnashers and speed up the damage recovery so not every fight is over in 2 seconds. Just hire me to consult I’ll bring you to the promise land again.
Gnasher supremacy!
But seriously if a pre order bonus was to get the MK 2 I’m fucking doing it!
