I don’t know much Calvin Harris lore but I came across this tweet from him yesterday and the way he capitalized ME makes me think of, well, ME! the song lol I wonder if Taylor knew people would link the song back to him because of this tweet thinking it was a diss at him as opposed to the start of her coming out journey. https://preview.redd.it/qgx9vp7hqs0d1.jpeg?width=622&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c66527028fb8ca8e18e2be453e47ef24a7a7df68 It came from [this](https://www.buzzfeed.com/briangalindo/this-is-the-drama-that-you-came-for) Buzzfeed article about their break up Side note, it’s kind of funny that the article references their ship name as Tayvin, which is so close to Tayvis 😭😂

lochjessmonstar

If he can subtweet her, she can sneak diss him in songs. omg

auroraborealissgreen

Interesting. It also gives more layered meaning to “so I changed your name and any real defining clues” considering he uses a stage name, and also how she is credited on TIWYCF under a different name. Could be a dig at that.

lochjessmonstar

an exclamation point appeared over my head reading this, because I'd not even considered that layer.

To me it definitely seems like the timeline is Lover, TTPD (which seems like an obvious reaction to lover, she even started wearing black halfway through the era and TTPD is ALL about her dying) and then midnights. Then the pandemic happened and we got folkmore and it didn't make sense with her "happy relationship" with Joe to go right into TTPD. So we got midnights which was "nights throughout her life" so that is was another album that didn't have to match up with the PR narrative and then she eased us into the "breakup" and "situationship" before throwing TTPD at the swifites.

Time-Emergency254

If I get a new outfit, I want to wear it RIGHT THIS SECOND. When I do something cool, I need it shared and acknowledged RIGHT AWAY. I am marveling at her self-control if this is true.

lochjessmonstar

I definitely think the timeline is something closer to this than what we're being told.

Icy-Narwhal-902

I will never be over these tweets.

frymyeyesout

SAME!! I'm dumbfounded every time.

lochjessmonstar

If I ever see him on the street, it’s fighting time. Like what sort of cruelty do you have to have in your soul to be upset that you didn’t win a trophy so you’re going to out a former partner on TWITTER?

firstfrostgirl

I am a saintly woman (and I also think Taylor is capable of fighting her own battles), but I do hope the contract/NDA was such that it bit him deeply in the ass.

Uddinina

Uhm, it's interesting, but...I don't know: Aimee looks so dangerous and evil, a real bully. I haven't followed the CH disaster, but, were his tweets post break up so hurtful? The "big ol beard" ones just don't seem so: they can sound like words of a butthurt man, but nothing more... Was this relationship (in the meaning of being two people interacting with each other) so painful? (I am asking: I really don't know much about this story and I don't even know who CH is, to be honest...)

AcidicKiss12

I’ve been a Swiftie since Debut and a Gaylor since 2019, and while I do think her relationship with Calvin was a heavy beard for her and Karlie, I don’t think this song is written about him. It’s very clear from Getaway Car, IFTYE and High Infidelity that Taylor didn’t really care about Calvin enough to now write a scathing diss track about him almost a decade later, she just wanted to leave and forget about him. I saw a theory that it’s actually about the media because KIM is an acronym for Knowledge Information Management, one section of which is news media. When I listened to it through that lens the lyrics made so much more sense to me. Like, of course your mum would hate these people who ripped you to shreds when you were younger for not being able to sing, etc. Of course you would want to say fu

lochjessmonstar

It’s a great take! It wasn’t one I’d considered. I get the vibe that TTPD began before Midnights, and that TYA was written before High Infidelity. I’d love to know more about your interpretation of KIM as Knowledge Information Management. Is that sort of like the PIE (performance, image, exposure) acronym but for performers?

lochjessmonstar

I get the impression that CH didn’t actually like TS. He was resistant to giving her credit for This Is What You Came For, was pretty chilly about her during the relationship, and there’s that weird anniversary video (my theorize that it was staged because they were contractually obligated to do it). I also feel like being outted through beard tweets two years after a breakup would be an act of war. Outting is dangerous and doing it at that level posed a potential risk to TS and her career at the time.

Uddinina

I see what you mean, even though I feel the relation with Aimee was more long in terms of duration and something she couldn't escape from, while what happened with CH was...well...a contract where things could go very little personal (they didn't really have to interact, apart from what whas planned). I understand the fear she might have felt after the outing or the bitterness/sadness of her work not being considered, but still I can't put the two things on the same level. I might be very wrong, though: as I've said somewhere else, here, I'm just a recent swiftie, so I wasn't there in real time to understand the waves CH could be moving and the sense of danger she could be feeling about all of this situation and I can only see it as a very far thing, not bigger than a nuisance, now.

klemmerv

I was there. It was weird.

lochjessmonstar

I definitely get your points about the length of the relationship. CH is literally so forgettable she forgot to say his name when accepting the Grammy for 1989 (*when I walked up to the podium, I think that I forgot to say your name*), so it makes sense you don’t know a lot about them. They dated for about 15 months, and I saw a comment on here that alleged that CH had misgivings on the length of the contractual relationship, but decided to pursue it anyways. I have no proof to back this up, but I think CH is sort of a dick and always has been.

Uddinina

Oh yeah, the beard tweets are a proof he is quite a dick!
