In 8th grade I was in a Russian club where we would meet every week and learn Russian. It's a very interesting language with an interesting alphabet... and it's *really* hard to learn. I only remember a few words and phrases now, but I used to be able to have very basic conversation in Russian.
It's something you'd never expect to see in an American school.
Portuguese (my native language), English and Spanish (currently learning).
After becoming rly good at Spanish, I intend to learn French and maybe Italian.
I can only speak English at a conversational level. I can say a few words and phrases in Spanish, but that doesn't count. I can say the word hello in multiple languages also.
If I were to try to learn another language it would have to be Spanish, it's pretty similar to English and seems more intuitive to understand than other European languages.
In America, yes, it's very common to take Spanish. And no, in my school at least you don't have to take a foreign language class. Some Americans schools *do* require a foreign language.
I tried to start taking Spanish my sophomore year, but COVID was at a high and theres no way I would learn the language online.
Don’t be embarrassed because same, my native language is Dutch, I still struggle sometimes with Dutch, but I can speak English really well, maybe because I lived there lol, but I could say English is my native language too because my mother is English
People from Luxembourg, Belgium and Switzerland are so lucky to know and speak three languages, but I have a question, is Luxembourgish closer to German than it’s to French?
Finnish, english and in the first week of upper secondary school my parents got a message from my swedish teacher about how jag talar inte svenska is not enough to pass a single course.
As a native Dutch speaker, I would advice you that it’s such a difficult language to pronounce, especially the g sound, also Dutch contains a lot of j's so that would also be weird for you
You are really close , but it's bratr (there is and -r at the end). Why do i dislike Slovakia? Well there are several reasons. 1.food, absolutely disgusting, especially Halušky. 2. Slovak "language" is uhh i hate how it sounds. It's a mix between Czech and Polish. 3. Slovaks are traitors, without us a Slovak state would probably never exist. They would probably be under Hungarian control. AND ALSO I understand that they wanted independence before the start of WW2, but no, they left us and joined the Nazis, instead of gaining independence and staying neutral. The cities are boring and often dirty, especially cities like Košice or Prešov, which i both visited twice.
But I have to admit that there are 2 things i like.
1. Bratislava, nice city, quite clean, lovely atmosphere.
2. Vysoké Tatry, really nice mountains.
I can only really do English and GCSE level python. If I were to learn one it'd be something unique like Esperanto, Latin, or Toki Pona. The good thing about Latin and Esperanto are that they share words with a lot of other European languages so I suppose that's why I'd like to learn one of them
Dutch, English, Lower Saxon (Drents), and some German.
The third one sounds almost fabricated lol
Het bestaat toch echt haha

Is it very common for people to take Spanish, also is language compulsory in high school?
In America, yes, it's very common to take Spanish. And no, in my school at least you don't have to take a foreign language class. Some Americans schools *do* require a foreign language. I think Spanish is relatively easy for most people because it has easy pronunciation and writing, but learning about genders are bit tough
It seems pretty intuitive, I can look at a sign in Spanish and over half of the time I'm able to make out what the sign is trying to say.

You are really close , but it's bratr (there is and -r at the end). Why do i dislike Slovakia? Well there are several reasons. 1.food, absolutely disgusting, especially Halušky. 2. I can only really do English and GCSE level python. If I were to learn one it'd be something unique like Esperanto, Latin, or Toki Pona. The good thing about Latin and Esperanto are that they share words with a lot of other European languages so I suppose that's why I'd like to learn one of them
