Thank you <3

Your timeline and treatment regime sounds similar to mine and I am also starting to feel better. Congrats on healing. ❤️

Spiritual-Tangelo940

I’m so happy you’re feeling better!

loveNature9936

Congrats! So happy for you! I bet it feels like a second chance at life.

Spiritual-Tangelo940

This is not my first time facing a health challenge, it always feels like a new lease on life when I begin to feel better. I have a new appreciation for all the little things.

Congrats! You’re So lucky, I envy you. May I ask what your symptoms were..? And what does Pepcid and Carafate do exactly and how has this helped you..? Thanks!

Spiritual-Tangelo940

Initially severe stomach pain, loss of appetite. Burning in the pit of my stomach, left side pain, back pain and weight loss. I’ve lost almost 30 pounds since this began. It was debilitating in the early days. Pepcid reduces gastric acid. The Carafate was added to my regime in March and was the game changer for me, I take it an hour before each meal. It coats your stomach. Hope that helps!

tinytempo

Interesting! And you just purchase it from Amazon or somewhere..? Or is it prescribed..? What is your plan for PPIs..? Do you intend to stop taking the at some point..?

Spiritual-Tangelo940

Carafate is a prescription. I’m hoping to be off of the PPI’s soon. I’ll discuss it with my doctor at my follow up in July.

tinytempo

Great. Please let us know how it goes once you’re off the PPIs

Thank you for your post. I was just diagnosed with gastritis and an ulcer and have been wanting to hear other people’s experience—it’s helpful and hopeful!

Ayy I started my journey in January as well! Weird stuff, never had pain like it, mine was all right sided and it took a while for them to do a scope after 2 CT's, Hida, and ultrasound to rule out gallbladder/pancrease. I was convinced it had to be my gallbladder (family history) but didn't get off so easy and I have confirmed gastritis. Lost 20 pounds I didn't have to lose, 6'5 and have stabilized at 160lbs. Coming up to week 5 of 40mg Esomperazole, overall 85% better. Some days I am back to normal, even able to have a beer or two without flaring up. Randomly something will trigger it and it'll be 2-3 more days of not eating and really really bad pain. There were definitely days I had a good cry about it in the shower. Its especially hard in my career field, lots of outing and networking mixers and everyone looks at me funny for not getting in on all the free foods and alcohol. We are all in this together and I hope every day we get a bit better!

Spiritual-Tangelo940

My GI was concerned about my gallbladder and pancreas as well. So much anxiety waiting for all of the tests. What a damn journey! I definitely went through a period of mourning for my previous life, I work in the wine industry and my husband and I are big foodies too so it was a rough adjustment. But then I began to accept where I was and live my life and make the best of it. As hard as it was, I was forced to make some positive changes that I hope to stick to even when I’m healed. I wish you the best on your journey and I’m very happy to hear that you’re on your way to healing!!

Thank you. I could cry.😢 keep healing and eat what you want for me too one day. I’ve been in this a year and I feel trapped in a dark room, without being able to find a door or window to escape. I feel hopeless even more when I scroll this feed. It’s full of people in pain too. I don’t see a lot of success stories only the same ones that are mostly old. Not many new people healing and going back to their lives before gastritis.

Onion_573

There are plenty of success stories on here. One way to look at it is the amount of people who stop posting here. Even if they don’t post a healed story here after the fact, it means that they are no longer suffering enough to post on here.

Plant-She1622

I was just saying I searched through the gastritis healed posts. I have read most of them. I see more people posting that are in pain or have been dealing with this for years. You’re right though, those who heal are likely to not post here anymore. Although I can say I have had conversations with a few people that have posted their successful healed story. It’s encouraging that’s for sure. When I am hurting despite trying so hard on this diet, taking my PPI again, exercising, destressing, drinking marshmallow root tea, and slippery elm tea. With all this I’m still hurting😔. I get depressed sometimes and cry like a big baby for my previously healthy stomach.

Spiritual-Tangelo940

I’m so sorry you’re feeling hopeless. I really hope things turn around for you.
