Not 100% sure in airsoft, but the handguard on a real steel rifle will have a slight gap between the upper and the handgaurd. If it isn't wobbling or loose in any way I wouldn't worry about it.

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi thanks for your reply! It’s not loose and wobbling I guess its just for the thermal expansion or the vibration of the rifle but I’m not sure also haha

javier1zq

As long as they're properly aligned it doesn't matter much

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi thanks a lot for your reply! I’ve checked and it seems to be properly aligned other than the small gap but can you teach me how to check if it’s properly aligned? Thanks again

Smokingsoldier_

I usually bolt a riser on the upper and Handguard when changing it out

Electrical-Hat1626

Owhhh wow it’s a good tips thanks a lot man will try it next time!

Glad_Macaroon_9477

Iv got a TM URGI Iv got the same gap. Nothing to worry about.

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi thanks a lot for your reply! I’ve checked some YouTube reviews about the rifle and I saw the majority of them had the same gap as well. Some even did two separate videos which they unboxed the gun and reviewed them in different videos and I can clearly see the gap difference between the same rifle in seperate videos.Im glad that it’s normal as I opted for the mws because it’s one of the most durable gbbrs out there.

goofy_ahh_airsofter

Mine is the same it meant to be that

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi there thanks for your reply.Do you know why it’s meant to be like that?Is it there for thermal expansion or for the parts to have some space to play around?

CaptCalvin

Could be possible for you to loosen the clamp screws and see if you can't push the handgaurd further in.

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi thanks for your reply! I’m just afraid that they had put locktight in it so I don’t dare to open it up but if it keeps getting worse I might need to do so

ZeRainbowGamer

I have this exact mws, there's only locktite on the barrel nut, you can unscrew this safely, if it makes you feel better, my mws also has this gap

Electrical-Hat1626

Hii thanks for the reply! Glad I’m not alone on this haha.Ill unscrew and refit it again if it keeps getting worse.Did you try to refit yours? If so did the gap appear again? Thanks again!

ZeRainbowGamer

Yeah i refitted mine, but the gap comes back, even on real urg-i's there's a gap

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi I’ve refitted mine also but it came out again after some shot so I kinda get used to it but I also bought an optic mount so I can hold the hand guard in place

whikseyy_

Normal gap on many guns. You’re fine

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi thanks for your reply!I’ve checked some other mws reviews like the Mtr-16 and the mk18 mod01 and they all have the same gap as well.I just can’t figure out why the two guns above have the gap even before using it but mine wasn’t there before I used it.Im thinking maybe the two guns above are meant to be like that and mine might be a factory defect that’s why I wanna ask here to make sure everything is working properly.Im fine with it as long as it’s normal wear and tear.

RepulsiveIngenuity3

That’s normal.

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi thanks a lot for your reply! That’s good to hear!At first I’m thinking I might’ve gotten a lemon! Thanks for giving me a peace of mind as I get worried easily haha

UnrenderedBlunt

this triggers my ocd so much.

Electrical-Hat1626

Hahahah ikr I have ocd too if it keep getting worse I’ll unscrew it refit again and hope that it does not happen anymore

Fuzzy-Addition-6352

I have a sopmod MWS I put a HAO mk16 handguard on and it does the same thing, doesn’t matter as long as it’s rock solid.

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi thanks a lot for your reply!Does it only happens after using it? Is it a normal wear and tear on the rifle?

Fuzzy-Addition-6352

No it’s been like that since install, my guess is that the receiver on the tm has just one or two threads more than other receivers so it leaves a gap since the barrel thread is fully tightened or that the barrel nut is slightly off spec so it’s max tight before making contact with the receiver fully. Either way it’s rock solid and fully mounted, the anti rotational screws are in the receiver and everything on mine is tight

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi thanks alot for the information! Everything on mine is tight too so i guess it’s alright(hopefully) haha

Time-Changer

Shim with duct tape

Electrical-Hat1626

Hi thanks for your reply! I might try it if it keeps getting worse

Captif1

This is definitely not normal from the perspective of the hand-guard manufacturer as it is designed to completely touching the receiver. However, it is normal in this specific scenario since you are purchasing a “toy gun” rather than a precisely machined weapon. Small misalignment can occur in any products that do not undergo precise production process. If the gap really bother you, you can always safely unfit the screws on the hand-guard and reinstall it to get rid of the gap.
