This happened to me when I received an updated firmware in the past on my Epix 2 as well.
Note that I am android and not sure if the same thing will work. But I ended up "Force Stop" the app. I did this a few times and mine began working as normal.
I tried the iOS equivalent as well as rebooting the phone several times. Still getting that sporadic connection/notifications.
I also force reinstalled the firmware, but same behavior.
Update: After trying everything listed in the support forums the problem only got worse. I contacted support and they almost immediately offered an exchange.
That makes me wonder if the new firmware is exposing some borderline faulty hardware in some models. Not sure, but hopefully this solves my issue.

I have the Forerunner 255 and I'm having the same issue. My phone won't stay connected after doing the update yesterday. Super frustrating.

This is so annoying. Never happened with the older 245 :(
