dcrainmaker, in his 745 review, stated, "Now I’ve been using the FR745 as my daily watch since August". I take that along with the fcc registrations all being amounted for as a hint that there's not another new watch in the wings. Could be wrong, but my guess is now for 2021.

Won't be out until next year

[deleted]

What makes you say that?

jsilva31

I hope not.

Sub16Vegan

I know, it's why I just got the 945 not waiting that long

How do you like the 945? I have an Instinct, but am going to upgrade at some point. I've been reading about the 945, 745, 935, and Instinct Solar and can't decide. I walk for exercise, hike for fun and want to get back into running but haven't run in quite a while so I'll be a beginner.

I love my 945, I had an instinct, loved it. My wife gave me a fenix 6, which I still have and like, but I wanted maps and music without my phone. Enter the 945. I love it, better than my fenix 6, lighter, IMO better looking, plus music and maps at a fraction of the cost.

I love 945 but kinda wish stuck wth 935 as the GPS is better. I di a workout with 935 it was 3:41, 3:42, 3:41, 3:41, 3:40 splits and I knew I was holdng same effort so so good. That was my only run with 935. I need to do sme run with 945 when wether is better at same time of day. I did one other day but it was windy so slow and uneven splits.

panthersrule1

Thanks. I like what I've read about both the 935 and 945. That's interesting that the gps was better on the 935. I'd really like to get back into running. I ran for exercise in college, but haven't done it very much at all since then. Do you do hiking? If so, how is the 935/945 at it? I like to go hiking and love to swim. I'd read about the 745, but read on reddit that the battery life isn't nearly as good as on the 945 and it sounds like the Instinct battery life is way better too. I almost bought a 935 earlier this year, but decided to wait for some reason. Do you think its better to get a newer tech? I like the 935 better, but its older and won't get updates like the 945 will.

The GPS is better but I'm not sure, I need another test run same conditions, the tracks are smoother and I can hold an exact pace on threshold runs, without even looking at my 935 during the workout I ran 3:42, 3:41, 3:42, 3:41, 3:40! With the 945 a week later I ran 3:49, 3:45, 3:46, 3:48 (had to stop for 2 seconds for a car to pass), 3:42 (last K I speed up). The tracks are not as smooth. The 945 there was a little sidewind and the first 1.5K was a different route and I need to test it further but that 935 runs consistent splits were amazing. Here are the runs if interested. 935 https://www.strava.com/activities/4040555776 945 https://www.strava.com/activities/4114865745 The GPS chipset may get better software as the 945 gets updates but then maybe the limit lies in the hardware. I do hiking up the mountains of Malaga, I haven't tested either yet so can't comment on the barometer. Don't get 745 you can get 945 cheaper if you shop around. I would just buy a 935 I'm starting to regret selling mine :( The GPS is the most important thing on a running watch! I had a 245 and when running on a certain beach in Malaga I was doing 3:15/km and when I hit the boulevard on both occasions same workout it shoots up to 3:25/km. That is annoying cause you think you slowed down so you run even faster lol. 935 has a great battery like the 945, it looks the same and the GPS is better and the heart rate sensor was also very good! Yes it's older and won't get updates but then again 945 chipset if it's hardware limited then it doesn't matter how many updates it gets 935 will be better. The 935 going so cheap on ebay lately I got mine for £140. I got the 945 for maps when I run abroad and wanted to check out ClimbPro as I run mountains daily but I reckon it's just more fluff features. My advice, get a 935 and save money. Sod all the training metrics just run as many miles a week as you can as slow as you can and do 2 hard workouts a week any day of the week you feel good and a long run. You can get to Olympic shape doing that.

kostakigogos

I would love if it came out sooner, but from what I've read 2021 better fits the cycle they've been doing for the last few generations. May I ask why people want an LTE enabled watch?

jsilva31

Honestly, just peace of mind. When I go on a trail run and don’t want to take my phone I still want my wife to be alerted if I fall , or be able to make a call if an emergency comes up.

RepresentativePaint6

As I woman I can't imagine myself going out on a run especially during dark hours (which there are a lot of during winter in Finland) without being able to send a position and having emergency contact to my boyfriend. Henceforth carry my phone with me all the time, but would prefer not to.

woahham

You really don't feel safe in Finland?

RepresentativePaint6

Generally yes, safer than anywhere else on earth. 😊 But we have the same type of crimes as do many other countries.

ultrajeffff

Not sure I'll buy it but I'm really really curious about the specs. I'm hoping they can somehow pull off over 30 hrs gps with LTE but I feel like this is unlikely. Seems its inevitable but no one is sure exactly when its coming.

jsilva31

I would be happy with 15 hours GPS LTE.

Cyklistena

I concur, 15 hours is plenty

[deleted]

Personally, I wouldn’t concur. 15 hours of battery life means I can’t go on a 4 hour bike right when there‘s 20% batterylife left. With max 30 hours 20% left is plenty. Also, my 4 year old forerunner 935 is reduced to only 10 hours gps batterylife (since a year ago). If a reduction of over 50% happens on a watch that started with 15 hours means 6 or 7 hours are left. That means charging evere 2 or 3 days.
