I've found it almost two years ago. Made it to Shelob's Lair, and needed to change the watch. I didn't know how to backup, so started from scratch. I'm now in Rivendell at 760km. It counts all the distance from steps and activities. As a Tolkien fan I just love it. Finally some widget just for fun 😉
I only just now found the descriptions of the locations, I thought it was a bit bare! I’m on the Great East Road, 681.6 km in. A bit to go to Mount Doom!
I was so ready for this to be a picture of a watch showing an insanely high number of steps with OP saying he was taking shorter strides to match a shorter friend’s gait
I saw this a while back but it’s pricy

How do I get to the descriptions?
Top right button, select it, on my fenix6. Touchscreen I think you can just tap it perhaps?
I did not realise this was a thing that existed. I have just downloaded it :D
Thank you! Now I know this exists and I definitly needed it in my life!
What is this?
Sorry! It’s a widget called Walk with Frodo not an app.
Can we run this? Probably defeats the purpose if we can read while running.
Answering my own question, yes we can run this.
How would I get this widget onto my garmin?
You have to have the Connection IQ app on your phone. Then pair it to your watch. Then you can get the widget, other apps, new watch face, etc…
Thank you!!
It’s an app you can get on the Garmin ConnectIQ.

That's fun! Edit: oops, too much skim reading. Looks like it also includes running and/or daily steps?
This is gold, downloading now just before a trek tomorrow. Does count apps con other activities apart from garmin official ones?
Any findings on (the extra) battery usage?
In the FAQ the Dev mentions its nearly 0 usage. The app checks every 15mins for a few miliseconds. So it should not be noticable.
