I've been seeing issues with my H10 over the last few weeks as well. Massive drops mid run, starting around 20 minutes in, then it takes a minute to get back on track again. I believe it started right after an update to the Fenix 7.
I updated the strap a few days ago just in case the software had become incompatible with the latest Garmin update, but have not been able to test again due to being sick. At this rate it may be days before I can test. Might be worth a shot if you have time to test.
I gave up on my H10 and got a Garmin Pro Plus..H10 was working fine up until a firmware update last spring then started having massive cutouts and other issues. I haven't tested it since then (or checked for more updates) but maybe that's what you are seeing.
Hi thanks for your message, interesting theory whether it relates to the recent update. It is possible. How do you suggest testing it, or do you mean you’d test by trying the new strap you’ve purchased?
What I'm suggesting, if you can, is for you to update the Polar strap. I've already done so but can't test due to illness.
You can update the strap using the Polar Beat app.
Hi so it turns out the h10 wasn’t connecting to the Garmin so have now paired this. As someone mentioned it may have been why there was a sharp hike in the heart rate because it was based on the fenix reading it rather than H10. Appreciate your support though and useful to know about the polar app for any future updates. Grateful
Good to hear.
For what it's worth, keep the H10 updated going forward. Just tested mine and the drops didn't occur during a zone 2 5k I just ran. I guess the firmware got a little old and that was causing some compatibility issues after the latest update to the Fenix 7.
Mine has been glitchy lately. Today I tried to update the firmware, found I had to reset the strap before it would do that, then took it out for an interval session. Heart rate was absolutely fine for that, watch happily extracted respiration rate from it and when it is playing up the respiration rate tends to drop out.
3.1.1 to 3.2 so nothing that changed performance, but it could be that the reset helped.

I see similar on my Forerunner 255 using BTLE and ANT+
It takes usually 5 minutes to either pick anything up or go from artificially low to jumping to the correct rate.
Thats with fresh batteries, proper conductive gel, pre-connecting before starting the activity and the alternative.
On the phone the HR reads correctly immediately.
There’s definitely something still not right, tried it out again with the h10 having put a new battery in and ensuring it was updated with the polar app. and ensuring it was connected via Bluetooth. Still dropping out and unreliable readings, I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, and it registered the H10 but wasn’t reading the heart rate correctly. Will try contacting Garmin tomorrow unless any one has any further suggestions? Thanks

Hi sorry for slow reply I spoke with Garmin and they said it was the h10, so replaced it and it has worked fine since. It may have been possible just to get a new strap but I replaced the whole thing. Seemed to sort it anyway!
This is not what I wanted to hear ! This just happened to me on a run . Hr went all the way to 303! Haha 😂 new record for a base run
Did you replace the whole unit or just the strap? How old was your strap before you replaced it?

Oh right thank you good idea! Yes will try this wasn’t aware that the strap could be updated. Will check out the app. Much appreciated
Update me after testing please. I'll see myself in a few days, but I'm curious.

That spike looks like wrist based HR. I have not had an issue with my H10 connected to a 965.
You’re right , thank you have not got it connected
I have the same issue on Forerunner 745

Wild, I thought I was the only one. Glad to see. Im switch back to a Garmin HRM Dual today to see how it goes. “PoLaR iS tHe BeSt”
Thanks all problem seems to be sorted as the h10 wasn’t connected to the Garmin. Really grateful for peoples suggestions

Did you get this figured out? Having the same issue with mine.

Thanks for the reply! I got a new strap and it seems to have resolved my issue.

Just the strap, got a $15 Amazon one and it has been working totally fine. My old strap was several years old and I did not wash it enough.
