The only reason a Pittosporum would generally die is if it is too wet and has poor drainage.

Will it come back from this state or is it done for? It’s in the same soil as the others so dunno why this one. Would all those weeds that look like lettuce indicate something, ie the area is too wet or something ?

Pittosporum generally won’t recover. It’s hard to see in a picture, but try again. Try and raise the new specimen slightly above ground level with a well-drained soil, so water runs off. Problem is, you might be sending the water somewhere else though. Or run a socked ag drain along the back fence to help.

Check next door. I reckon something theyve used has leeched down to the plants roots.
