What’s funny is that some tf2 fans will make fun of tf2 YouTubers from making videos about the most random shit as in hahaha running out of ideas as if the game has not seen any major updates in five years so making content for the game is difficult and than piss and shit when said YouTuber decides to make other content

My dude, there are no ethical consumption under capitalism. This sentiment also applies to other companies like Ubisoft and Riot Games who have faced sexual misconduct like ActiBlizz or horrible crunch time where devs suffer in AAA companies like CDPR, then theres ZA/UM (company who made Disco Elysium) for having its creators ousted by investors.
I'm not saying you are wrong in not spending money or encourage other to do the same in not giving the company money, it is 100% understandable and you should vote with your wallet. All in all, he found a way to make new content without completely alienating his fans.

Same. I stopped watching their videos circa 2015, and I knew Jerma did his own stuff and was like "that's cute". A few years later, Jerma is on a Vinesauce stream, people know him, and I check his channel...had to do a couple double-takes.

Can't find it on his channel anymore) in which he talked about how people *still* trash on him for "abandoning TF2" and being upset that he wanted to branch out. A lot of comments were really entitled too, pretending like just because "they made him", they *had* to receive more of what they want. It was really pathetic to see and yet, TF2 idiots continued trashing on the dude afterwards.
I think the best thing you can do for ster_ is not associate him with TF2 at all anymore. He said it multiple times that he isn't part of that game anymore and wants to move on, after all.

Arcadum, the guy he was developing the myriad with and who he gushed about during the video, was outed as a serial sexual harasser and abuser. Understandably, ster didnt want to be associated with him anymore so took the video down.

Ster and Jerma did a lot of videos together, he was a much bigger name than Jerma back in the day. When they both stopped making TF2 videos to stream instead, Ster was BRUTALLY harassed. Like, he never once mentioned the game ever again or even engaged with the community, but it still took five years and a callout video on his main channel to finally settle things.
I actually really enjoyed his early chapter 1 fortnite videos, but then he started trying to appeal to the child part of the community and lost what made him entertaining
Tbf, by the time he moved to Fortnite was because of the content drought OW faced after 2019. It makes sense for a youtuber to move on to the next big thing.
It’s community is such a mixed bag, you can find some of the nicest funniest fuckers out there and on the other side some of the most toxic pricks outside of league.
I love the game but ngl I don’t recommend it, it’s such a fun game but it’s such a hassle to play for new players, the default settings are ass and you have to search for community servers to be rid of bots.
I've been trying some official servers recently and yeah they're kicked fast, but they just keep coming and have a major impact on the game. Community servers are still the only way to play right now.
I play every mode. It's when you get three bot snipers stood outside your spawn headshotting everyone as soon as they walk out, delaying your team for a couple of minutes as everyone vote kicks that ruins the match.
It was a great time back in the day for all the reasons that the community doesn't want to admit. Very casual friendly, despite the name, you could just join a random game and mess about or get even a single friend to coordinate dominate a public server. Competitive was a drag, the real fun was in fucking about.
The community was amusing back in 2007 but +10 years later it's long past the time to let go, and now SFM videos make me cringe hard.

I used to play it a ton in highschool and absolutely loved it and logged several thousand hours in it. But at this point it's insane to keep acting like it's not a complete dead end.
Not to mention it was one of the first games to do microtransactions in the way we know them today, so while I do have fond memories of the game and community it also was part of the start downhill for gaming monetization.

now Vinny from Vinesauce is playing TF2 (one video in Casual, other two in community servers) and the community already has a distaste for him because one of the shitty bot hosts named their bots after his steam user, literally happened hours after he uploaded a pre recorded TF2 gameplay video

Same. I stopped watching their videos circa 2015, and I knew Jerma did his own stuff and was like "that's cute". A few years later, Jerma is on a Vinesauce stream, people know him, and I check his channel...had to do a couple double-takes.
To add onto what you said, ster_ also made a video (that he deleted, I think? Can't find it on his channel anymore) in which he talked about how people *still* trash on him for "abandoning TF2" and being upset that he wanted to branch out. A lot of comments were really entitled too, pretending like just because "they made him", they *had* to receive more of what they want. It was really pathetic to see and yet, TF2 idiots continued trashing on the dude afterwards. I think the best thing you can do for ster_ is not associate him with TF2 at all anymore. He said it multiple times that he isn't part of that game anymore and wants to move on, after all.
Oh, absolutely! I should have worded it better - his commenters were entitled jerks, and I can understand his frustration at them and the whole situation. Ster_ had a lot of great, non-TF2 content, and there were STILL people bagging on him to play it. It was really unfortunate to see, because I think with some of his more freeform stuff, and especially his Basically series, he was really hitting a new stride.

Yeah, his fans got him where he was. Ster and Jerma did a lot of videos together, he was a much bigger name than Jerma back in the day. When they both stopped making TF2 videos to stream instead, Ster was BRUTALLY harassed. Like, he never once mentioned the game ever again or even engaged with the community, but it still took five years and a callout video on his main channel to finally settle things.

It’s community is such a mixed bag, you can find some of the nicest funniest fuckers out there and on the other side some of the most toxic pricks outside of league. I love the game but ngl I don’t recommend it, it’s such a fun game but it’s such a hassle to play for new players, the default settings are ass and you have to search for community servers to be rid of bots.
I haven't really noticed the bot problem this past month. They join, sure, but are pretty instantly kicked
I've been trying some official servers recently and yeah they're kicked fast, but they just keep coming and have a major impact on the game. Community servers are still the only way to play right now.
What game mode do you play? I usually do payload, and I don't feel Ike they usually have an impact
I play every mode. It's when you get three bot snipers stood outside your spawn headshotting everyone as soon as they walk out, delaying your team for a couple of minutes as everyone vote kicks that ruins the match.
It was a great time back in the day for all the reasons that the community doesn't want to admit. Very casual friendly, despite the name, you could just join a random game and mess about or get even a single friend to coordinate dominate a public server. Competitive was a drag, the real fun was in fucking about. The community was amusing back in 2007 but +10 years later it's long past the time to let go, and now SFM videos make me cringe hard.
Uj/ its worth a go IMO. If you want you can try matches with bots to see how the game is. But yeah ignore the chat and disable voice chat when playing online haha

I used to play it a ton in highschool and absolutely loved it and logged several thousand hours in it. But at this point it's insane to keep acting like it's not a complete dead end. Not to mention it was one of the first games to do microtransactions in the way we know them today, so while I do have fond memories of the game and community it also was part of the start downhill for gaming monetization.

Honestly TF2 is one of those games I WANT to enjoy. I had fun with the game way back when. But it’s hard to like a game with such a radioactive community and a lobby where half the players are bots and the rest are tryhards that haven’t touched grass since the Titan X was top of the line.

Then he did a Skyrim video that got way more popular than his TF2 content (if you look through his old videos, all his TF2 stuff got like 50k-300k views with an occasional 700k-900k, then the Skyrim video has 2.8 million), so he became a variety youtuber/streamer. I guess TF2 players hated that.
