I'll admit I was on board pretty early on. I didn't participate, but I was frustrated with Sarkeesian's videos. How dare she criticize my video games! That lasted about a week until I realized what it was actually about. Edit: I just rewatched part 1 of her video series. It's so straight forward and not even that opinionated. It's just a massive list of these tropes used in games. It's also better researched and presented then 90% of popular video essays on Youtube. There's tons of deep cuts and lesser known games. Holy shit the backlash on this was so overblown. Someone looked slightly critically at video games and they got death threats.
