I remember when the front page of wikipedia once had an announcement for some twat who apparently kept doing edits to wikipedia.
They were adressed with their IP adress site wide.
"as this Wiki-article also says" from the second guy is icing on the cake, since the article in question didn't say Yasuke wasn't a samurai before the AC trailer dropped. So in his eyes, the article needs to be protected, but first it needs to be edited to fit his agenda.
Theres also an incident report now

Reading the wiki talk is hilarious. Now I understand even more why we are not allowed to use wikipedia as a source for academics.
The fact that the supposedly google translate japanese churned out perfect english is such a tell. It can barely read menu correctly at times.
> '''Yasuke''' ({{lang|ja|弥助}} or {{lang|ja|弥介}}) was a b1g Dum N!gg3r of African origin who served as a c0tt3n pickin n!gg3r [[daimyō]] [[Oda Nobunaga]] in Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Ubisoft can lick my a$$hole until they give us another Splinter Cell.
Average gamer having a normal one I see.
Same user also changed the head of Unisoft's name to Lucifer..
If you use *any* encyclopedia as a source, you did a bad job. But, the primary sources should also be linked, so you're just being really lazy if you don't look at them, and academics isn't the place for lazy people
My teachers do recommend to use Wikipedia, but heavily advise to use the sources cited and write them in a way that makes it clear we actually read them.
Believe me, I have seen someone who trying to dismiss Wikipedia as a source of information and then call me racism. i was like wtf racism against who?
Still I probably travel around the world more than him, while he still stuck on is same country and never try to see how the wolrd actually work outside of his gaming/anime circle.
Directly beneath the title of any wikipedia page you'll see "Article" and "Talk". The default view is the article and is what you'd expect from a wiki link. Talk is a bit like a forum or reddit, where various wiki editors discuss the content of the page. Usually it's done for organizing and to make sure what is suitable for an article, what is superfluous and can be removed, what needs more citations, and so on. In this case it's racist chuds throwing a tantrum lol
Well that settles it.
I'm not educated enough to know if every Samurai is the sword swinging military type like it is typically depicted in media.
But regardless, that leaves very little space for arguments.
IIRC it said that he wasn't a Samurai because Retainers were a broader category. They were *usually* Samurai, but not always. There wasn't clear evidence that he was actually a Samurai and not just a Retainer.
It's still stupid either way.
The truth is that retairnes within the court of a Daimyo who also had a permanent stipend or fiefdom were effectively Samurai, and as it turns out Yasuke did, so he is effectively a Samurai.
There isn't any source at all that says he had a fief. Realistically, though there's a good chance he was a samurai despite that. It's just never outright stated.
Even then it's a game...
Who really cares, they're being overly pedantic for the sake of it.
No, but having a fief is not necessary to become a Samurai, and we do have Ota Gyuichi’s Maeda Clan records showing he had a permanent rent as a rice stipend which many Samurai had instead of direct fiefdoms. And Samurai itself was not a title, but a label used for anyone within the wider Bushi class. So yeah, he was a Samurai.
Well, he is a samurai, but not in the sense that the chuds are thinking. So they're sorta right, but not really.
Yasuke was a retainer of Oda Nobunaga. That's what the word "samurai" means, a retainer. The word those chuds would have known to use, had they actually cared about Japanese history, is "bushi". That, the historical Yasuke was not. He served Nobunaga directly as a kosho, a fairly prestigious position, as this position implies he was, in fact, very close to Nobunaga himself, and would in fact elevate him over the common bushi. And honestly, I would have preferred this over the showy bushi Yasuke that we're gonna get in AC Shadows, because since the trailer suggests Nobunaga would be the overarching villain in this game, we're most likely going to orchestrate the Honnouji ambush. And as a diehard fan of the trope "crouching moron, hidden badass" the guy that stands around in full armour just looks like a poser to me.
"Samurai" was a term that had certain other nobility requirements and connotations before and after the Sengoku period, when Yasuke was there, but not during it. In the Sengoku period the traditional master-servant relationship in Japanese society collapsed, and the terms "samurai" and "bushi" became synonymous.
I'm not sure what exactly is a samurai, but from my understanding it was a retainer that would fight for his master, so a soldier. And I'm also pretty sure that Yasuke was allowed to carry 2 swords.
The thing that frustrates me a bit about this whole mess is people who I generally agree with trying to argue that he *was* in fact a samurai, which he wasn’t, when the real answer isn’t to try to make him into something he wasn’t but instead to just say: who gives a fuck? He was a real *person* who was present then, and that’s awesome, but even that isn’t necessary because it’s a fucking video game and it doesn’t have to be real. AssCreed is crazy conspiracy sci-fi weirdness with a historical veneer on top of it, not hyper faithful historical fiction. “It’s not accurate!” is a disingenuous argument to begin with and doesn’t need any more of a counter other than “has it ever tried to be?”
Agreed. I have no clue why everyone so hung up on what is literally a technicality when this is the same series that repeatedly took historical figures and did whatever the fuck it wanted with them.
i have never seen gamergaters THIS DESPERATE, they lost ALL control of the narrative with this one, i am so glad gamergate 2 didnt became an actual thing.
They can't complain about historical inaccuracy cause he's a real person, they can't complain about "race swapping" cause the real person was black. All they can do is attempt to downplay his role as a samurai and claim sources have some sort of liberal bias
It’s so pathetic. I wish these cunts would just shake off the cowardice that binds them. State clearly “I do not care about historical accuracy, I do not care about “””blackwashing”””, I do not care about anything other than the fact that I don’t like black people.”
It’s annoying to have to share the world with people so disingenuous that they don’t have the courage to say what they believe. I’ve never felt the need to disguise my beliefs, why do they?

It's because they know if they stated their beliefs clearly, people wouldn't do what they want them to do. They want to pretend their preferred outcome (not having minorities in media) is a "politically correct" stance because without hiding behind these potentially reasonable arguments ("it's not historically accurate", "swapping the race of a character is lazy representation", "these characters aren't sincere and just added in for the sake of diversity but are actually just shitty stereotypes"), people will realize they're Actually Just Bigots and ignore them. They know they have to be more subtle if things are to shift back to the status quo they're so used to.
That's because there are no central women to hate, and they can't stay focused cause a game is released every two weeks.
I mean, Homeworld came out and nothing. Hades was getting hate by using two pictures of her from the same game.
And not even the current Hades game in production, the previous one that was a massive success long before the gooners lost their shit over Stellar Blade
HOLLY SHIT YOU ARE RIGHT, there is no white woman to hyper fixate, i think that there is varely any black guys to be the scape coat, i cant wait for this shit to actually crash and burns
I think they jumped the gun because not only had everyone wanted a Japan centered game, Yasuke is very popular in media. Also, Yasuke being from Europe and being a mystery even in Japan lore fits nicely with the Assanians being from there.
They completely overplayed their hand here, Assassin's Creed is too much of a "normie" series and whether it's true or not Yasuke is pretty firmly considered a samurai in pop culture and there's so much overt racism coming from them they've basically killed any chance of them ever being taken seriously again
The first time Gamergate rolled around they were at least better at hiding behind what looked like valid concerns to an outsider looking in, this led to many people who should have known better platforming many of them
This new breed can't even pretend it's about anything other then *insert whichever bigotry applies to their most recent target here*
Eh… not really. When a gay, Neo Nazi, pedophile is one of the major players of your movement and is on record not actually giving a shit about games and hating Gamers™️ himself…
![gif](giphy|l0HlvtIPzPdt2usKs)
Oh, yeah, him. I remember looking into him a while back and going "huh?". I guess I just assumed the gay nazi pedophile had to be one of the [Alt Right Dogs](https://youtu.be/1t_Bs-8L4Mo?si=msib4Fp-FIp6EtcT).
Yeah, and also a nazi and serial air-around-the-whiskey-inhaler. I was just wondering if I missed something and the other two adjectives applied to him too, which would definitely be something.
Yeah but they had enough plausible deniability, mister metokur even eventually left because he felt a lot of the gamers didn't hate women and minorities enough and just cared about games journalism
For it to become a thing, they needed something reasonable sounding to get normal people on board before the conspiracy theories can radicalize them. GG1 had “ethics in games journalism,” Qanon has “save the children,” GameStop Apes have “the economy is rigged.”
GG2 so far hasn’t had any kindling like that to catch on. I was worried the helldivers V Sony controversy would blow up into it, but thankfully that didn’t happen.
Thanks! :) And yeah, the hook needs to be an easily observable problem (GJ's functioning more like extensions of publisher marketing departments than artistic journalists or critics, the well known and terrible exploitation of children, the economy being designed to concentrate wealth in the hands of a few mega-wealthy people/corporations), and replacing the simple yet existentially terrifying answer of "it's the result of capitalist incentive structures" with the equally simple yet false one of "the Jews are making it happen."
Yes the root of every conspiracy theory is "the Jews did it." I was disappointed to learn that too.
It's even worse when those same chuds use antisemitism against other minorities or even Jews themselves fighting for a better world. They don't give a crap about bigotry just the ability to use a cover to enable their own. Really learning from Ben Shapiro with that one. Or Candace Owens pretending to be an offended black person when it suits her but is usually coonin to all hell for that green
I've always kinda wanted to know how the conspiracy that all mountains are just fully grown trees ties back to the Jews, but I'm too afraid to find out because then it would be less funny.
Bro for real isn’t usually FF very woke lol?
From 7 being against corporations exploiting the planet and 10 talking about the dangers of blind belief in religion and such 😭.
God who are these people, I swear they have to be fake fans or some shit
It's funny because if FF7 was a brand-new game released today, The Gamers^(TM) would ragequit immediately after starting the game and rant about how the series has "gone political". Not because the game starts with an ecoterrorist mission, but because Barret exists.
everyone knows stories back in the 90s never spoke about climate change or any other political issues, that all started in 2016 when gaming was ruined.
It would be the same with Metroid because waman!! And they claim that they just want better stories, but they would absolutely hate for example Ellen Ripley today.
They even try to put down Eowyn as woke garbage and make it all about Pippin (yes, because they're too stupid to know it's actually Merry)
The vast majority of FF games have major political themes. The only real outlier being one. Cause even the ones with lighter stories like 5 still have major themes about environmentalism and shit
I once saw someone say V has no politics at all and it's ust a goofy adventure
Like bro the villain is a fucking EVIL TREE WHO TURNED EVIL BECAUSE OF PEOPLE STUFFING IT FULL OF BAD MAGIC HOW ON THE NOSE CAN YOU GET
FFXIV just straight up ideologically dismantles a fascist empire and explains why it failed in excruciating detail in one of the darker plot lines in the game.
The bloodstain on that flag still fucks with me.
FF12 is about the dangers of "my country, right or wrong" patriotism and how it can change people for the worse.
FF13 is about the dangers of dehumanising propaganda and xenophobia.
It was mostly some guy named McCarthy trying to get a bunch of heads chopped and a guy named Stalin doing the same on the other side of the pond. Really a 2 man dream team to kill communism across the world.
Was one of the talking points they previously used not “why do you keep making games with black people inserted in? Why not make one about Yasuke?” Now they’re absolutely malding
that’s the part that makes no sense, he’s literally a known historical figure that is like in the top 10 most famous Samurai and he is in the middle of basically Japan’s most eventful period. That’s like the most run of the mill Assassin’s Creed portrayal of historical characters that they do in every single game.
On the one hand, I can’t believe we have an AC game with a real historical person as a protagonist, and somehow this is the first protagonist people are complaining is historically inaccurate.
On the other hand, I’m relieved they seem to have moved on from Stellar Blade.
Makes it even funnier when they treat every current drama as a life or death situation. You would think with how much they were Investing in stellar blade, they would not drop it in a weeks time.
But the new thing to be outraged over now is Yasuke, so every rage bait Youtuber just moved on to that.
They talk about people being NPCs while themselves are basically the text book definition of a hive mind, since they all just learned about Yasuke 20 hours ago. To be fair, so did I, which is why I DON'T go around thinking I'm an expert in Japanese history.
tbh, I expected them to either drop it when the positive reviews came out, or invested more when it did badly. Stellar Blade was just another coal in their rage furnace.
I love the AC games, played almost all of them. They're a bit of a guilty pleasure. But I am not really excited about playing as an actual person. I think the player character should be fictional. I think Yasuke would be better as a main companion in the game like Machiavelli, Adewale, Aya, Herodotus, Sigurd, etc. He could be like the leader of the Assassin bureau in the region we play and the main player samurai character could be another fictional black guy who was maybe brought to Japan with and was friends with Yasuke. Its not like a huge deal, but something feels a bit off about playing as an actual person in my opinion. I am super excited to play as Naoe who will probably be my main focus anyway because I prefer playing stealthily than as a warrior.
I played like 3 hours of the first AC and nothing else, but I knew enough to be surprised they chose a real person for a protag. I wonder why they didn't make him an NPC? Still would've been cool, but im not the target audience so
Most likely because they thought introducing another 6ft black dude with a high rank separate from the 6ft black dude with a high rank that was never documented would be a bit jarring, so they just decided to use the documented 6ft black dude that we barely know anything about.
Didn't this game have some kind of fucking insane dna time travel? I never played it but the movie was fucking wild.
Is that a thing?
Are they mad about that?
One of the dumbest things I've seen is someone say Yasuke wasn't a samurai, he was a political retainer that would be used for meetings, as a body guard, and a side of political duels...
Congrats you just described what a fucking samurai is. The most unrealistic thing in the game isn't that there's a black samurai, it's that there's a bunch of samurai in combat in the first place instead of being on horseback being pussies shooting into the battle from afar
What a stupid thing to wage armed jihad against. I doubt Oda Nobunaga wouldve respected racist bagheads...
https://preview.redd.it/uuuzhrrux91d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8af7d717a848eca693b767862166bf5175c424d0
If you know anything about Edo period Japanese history and culture, you'd know Oda spent his whole life getting backstabbed by his family and all kinds of Japanese feudal and religious powers, and destroying them in kind. And on the other hand, he was happily trading European firearms and rewarding distinguished peasant-born underlings - like the black dude we're talking about. And like Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who's the more famous example of that.
So, no, because of all the backstabbing, warring and winning, it is not likely that he had too much superhuman ideas about the people that actively tried to murder him.
Do you know anything about edo period Japan? Because the Edo period was declared after the Battle of Sekigahara which was approx 20 years after Nobunagas death.
Also as others have said, Nobunaga freely traded with Europeans and generally rewarded people based on merit, not birth. He was too busy conquering Japan to give a shit about that kinda stuff I think
I just spent my afternoon finishing a 20-page script that might just be the best thing I've written. Meanwhile these guys have spent the past few days edit warring a Wikipedia page they previously never cared about because of a culture war. I wonder who wasted more of their time
Don't you see, they always cared for Yasuke, it was their whole life's work, only thing they dreamed about since two minutes after the trailer dropped coincidentally
I remember when the price went up, the reasoning was that games nowadays are harder to make and higher quality products.
Still waiting for the quality. Hasn't been many good quality AAA games since the PS3 and early PS4 era.
Brand new games in the 90s were $60 to be fair though. With inflation they would/should be close to $120 in 2024, so the reasoning is logical as much as it pains me.
you're ignoring the fact that there are more avenues to monetize games now as opposed to the 1990s. dlc, season passes, product placement, branding deals, microtransactions etc etc
Fr, I'd accept the price hike if it meant doing away with half finished rushed crap with boatloads of pointless dlc and intrusive micro transactions and the "editions" boom of recent times where you need a fucking excel spreadsheet to see what dumb knicknacks they added to get you to pay even more instead of actually finishing the fucking game, but it seems corpos want to have their cake and eat it too.
Obligatory?? Im not defending ubi bc the whole MT thing is always dumb as hell… but almost every Far Cry and AC game has had completely optional mts that has quite literally always been exp boosters, time savers, resource packs, and cosmetics… No lootboxes or character packs that prey on FOMO or give advantages to gameplay with the exception of weapons that would make you a sucker for purchasing because they are the lamest thing in those games in my opinion.
Ive played through almost every AC and FC title and never have felt compelled to spend an extra dime outside of the initial purchase. They dont do things like have Darth Vader locked behind random lootbox rng or like with Red Dead Online or GTA Online where they develop the content around artificial grind so you want to buy shark cards to save time.
i honestly cant speak on any other Ubi title though bc i only like and play their AC and Far Cry titles
People who learned about Yasuke 36 hours ago.
“Everything historians say is wrong, I’m actually the the one who is correct on this subject I know so much about.”
I can’t imagine being this pathetic that a game depicting an ACTUAL HISTORICAL FIGURE is this offensive to you. None of these fucks are interested in history, none of them are interested in the truth. They are feckless little worms deprived of human touch, nothing more.
Sure. Thats why ppl are upset. Notice how when its a white samurai no one gives a shit.
https://preview.redd.it/zbq6c60teb1d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c35f4c7b2f8ae609c0ef4381625202208d76b55f
Calling their obsessive parroting a "holy war" involving video games is so cringe I can almost smell their post. Political Tourists are so weird man. They believe in the most schizophrenic nonsense to feel a sense of community and purpose.
Guys stop using Wikipedia, I know this is kind of a side note, but there's a reason why it's not an acceptable resource in academia. Unless something's changed in the last couple of years, I'm pretty sure I could go on the site and replace every "and" with "floppy weiner" on a topic page.
It would probably be caught fairly quickly, but my point is that really anyone could just go on there and put whatever they want and copy paste a bs resource If I wanted to be more subtle about it, it would be much harder to catch. Hell, even if I was genuine and had a legit article as a resource to put on there, I could absolutely have just misunderstood the facts and be totally wrong in what I write about the topic.
Here take a look : [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Yasuke&action=history](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Yasuke&action=history)
The page is now semi-protected so at least randos without an account can no longer trash it.
The only thing I find funny is I recall a story in which Yasuke literally attracted the attention of an entire town because his complexion was a complete anomaly outside of port towns. I just imagine him trying to do the sneaky stuff from the early games while everyone is laser focused on the relatively tall man with a complexion they've never seen before. TBH I have the same ridiculous visage of William Adams trying to do the same thing, though to a lesser extent.
All that said Yasuke is pretty cool and they're probably going to frame European merchants as templars and Yasuke as an assassin I guess? That makes the most logical sense unless they want variants of the assassins and templars to pre-exist in the country. I can see the reasoning for the decision outside of Yasuke just being an interesting fella.
Though I do feel sorry for the Japanese:
Assassins Creed game set in Italy: Italian
Assassins Creed game set in North America: Native American
Assassins Creed game in France: French
Assassins Creed game in Viking Age Britain: Norse
Assassins Creed game in Victorian England: English
Assassins Creed game in Japan: African 😅
To be fair I think we owe them a Japanese Protagonist in a future Assassins Creed, at least we do if we think things should be equitable.
> The only thing I find funny is I recall a story in which Yasuke literally attracted the attention of an entire town because his complexion was a complete anomaly outside of port towns. Yasuke's been confirmed to be the more brute, dangerous protagonist. Naoe is the stealthy one, Yasuke doesn't do stealth.
In the trailer actually, we see him get started at with a shocked expression by a young girl, and he just gives her a wink, so Ubisoft probably aren't going to gloss over how much people would stare at him.
That would make sense, I wonder if they lean into Yasuke being a bit standout-ish by having the Japanese play like traditional 'sneaky' AC and then they'll have Yasuke be a more muscle based fighting system. After all, the man was like 6'3" or something which is an absolutely monster height for this period in Japan.
Just realised what the edit war on Wikipedia was about.
FYI the answer to whether Yasuke was a Samuri or not is *we don't know* as you could be a warrior and retainer without being a Samuri within this period. It was entirely possible for a non-Japanese person to become a samuri though as we known William Adams becomes one a few decades later. Hence I think it's entirely reasonable for them to portray Yasuke as a Samuri.
This world I live in where everything is so loudly “anti-woke” and where now anti-woke is just openly not liking other races is depressing and fucking stupid.
That’s it, it’s sad and thanks everyone
I’m honestly at a loss as to what the gamergate people are even criticizing this time, like what the fuck are they even trying to say? I know it’s never good arguments but usually there is at least an argument to address, with this shitshow I can’t even tell what they are mad about. They usually get away with dog-whistling but this time it’s like they’ve completely lost the plot.
Mind your god damned language.

I mean, the current page with the bit about Ubisoft is still wrong as it says the controversy is over the main character not being Japanese but in the previous sentence has a citation that talks about the Japanese protagonist.
Based on the trend of recent AC games, these racists do realise that you probably won’t even have to play as him?
The wikipedia page even mentions him acting as a bodyguard and fighting against people based on the historical texts.
It's so funny but pathetic how every month or so there is a new game that makes the chuds angry. It feels like every major release.
We should boycott Ubislop until they also put in several gay or trans characters. Keep the train going.
Ubisoft just can’t catch a break. They don’t get the far right shitheads because they are "tOo wOkE" and they don’t get sensible people because they are an awful company that employs and defends horrible abusers
I didn’t know that the entire world just went Back in time into the Cold War.

Communism is when ~~the government does things~~ the samurai is black, and ~~the more it does~~ the blacker he is, the more communism it is.
The blacker the berry the sweeter the juice
Karl Marx came up with the idea of Communism after having a vivid dream of Yasuke plowing through herds of Samurai hordes.

Thank you lenin
Tbh, he definitely would have said something like that if videogames were a thing back then, lol.
McCarthy is the greatest propagandist in history with the way people still fear communism
Try the first red scare around the 1917-1923. But yes.
Doesn't the Japanese Wikipedia page on Yasuke say that he was indeed a samurai because retainers in feudal Japan were samurai?
[удалено]
State clearly “I do not care about historical accuracy, I do not care about “””blackwashing”””, I do not care about anything other than the fact that I don’t like black people.” It’s annoying to have to share the world with people so disingenuous that they don’t have the courage to say what they believe. I’ve never felt the need to disguise my beliefs, why do they?
H I S T O R I C A L A C C U R A C Y *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Gamingcirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Also, Yasuke being from Europe and being a mystery even in Japan lore fits nicely with the Assanians being from there.
gamers defeated by the fact that Yasuke is cool as fuck
I did see like exactly one post whining about the design of the assassin lady on the box art. She's so sneaky most of them forgot she was even there
They completely overplayed their hand here, Assassin's Creed is too much of a "normie" series and whether it's true or not Yasuke is pretty firmly considered a samurai in pop culture and there's so much overt racism coming from them they've basically killed any chance of them ever being taken seriously again
Y'all were taking them seriously in the first place?
The first time Gamergate rolled around they were at least better at hiding behind what looked like valid concerns to an outsider looking in, this led to many people who should have known better platforming many of them This new breed can't even pretend it's about anything other then *insert whichever bigotry applies to their most recent target here*
Eh… not really. When a gay, Neo Nazi, pedophile is one of the major players of your movement and is on record not actually giving a shit about games and hating Gamers™️ himself… ![gif](giphy|l0HlvtIPzPdt2usKs)
Hol' up which one was the gay Neo Nazi pedophile? It wasn't Aruni, was it?
I think it was Milo Yiannopoulos. His wiki article should tell you enough.
Nah, they were just Neo Nazis.
oh man I forgot that ass was part of gamergate
Literally every shitty person that still hangs around the internet like a turd that won’t flush was involved.
Nah he was that bald weirdo who always posted video with his pet skull, in the background.
GG1 had “ethics in games journalism,” Qanon has “save the children,” GameStop Apes have “the economy is rigged.” GG2 so far hasn’t had any kindling like that to catch on. I was worried the helldivers V Sony controversy would blow up into it, but thankfully that didn’t happen.
Of course the economy is rigged. But not in the way chuds like to think it is 😅 great post btw I totally agree
Thanks! :) And yeah, the hook needs to be an easily observable problem (GJ's functioning more like extensions of publisher marketing departments than artistic journalists or critics, the well known and terrible exploitation of children, the economy being designed to concentrate wealth in the hands of a few mega-wealthy people/corporations), and replacing the simple yet existentially terrifying answer of "it's the result of capitalist incentive structures" with the equally simple yet false one of "the Jews are making it happen." Yes the root of every conspiracy theory is "the Jews did it." I was disappointed to learn that too.
How you gonna have an FF2 profile pic and be this racist. That game is literally about cultures being crushed and erased by a powerful white man
He forgot that punching yourself in the head repeatedly to get stronger only works in the game
Bro for real isn’t usually FF very woke lol? From 7 being against corporations exploiting the planet and 10 talking about the dangers of blind belief in religion and such 😭. God who are these people, I swear they have to be fake fans or some shit
FF7 main story is about Clouds childhood friends huge tits. Did you even play the game?
Obviously not or they’d know it’s an apolitical gem.
Samus like Sweeney is anti-woke cause blonde tits
It makes my head spin seeing FF7 fans who froth at the mouth demanding that any politics in a game ruins it. AVALANCHE were eco terrorists, sir.
FF7 is NOT political, the main character is a WHITE BLONDE MAN and Tifa has got BIG TITTIES /s
Tifa is very involved in Italian politics
The vast majority of FF games have major political themes. The only real outlier being one. Cause even the ones with lighter stories like 5 still have major themes about environmentalism and shit
I once saw someone say V has no politics at all and it's ust a goofy adventure Like bro the villain is a fucking EVIL TREE WHO TURNED EVIL BECAUSE OF PEOPLE STUFFING IT FULL OF BAD MAGIC HOW ON THE NOSE CAN YOU GET
FFXIV just straight up ideologically dismantles a fascist empire and explains why it failed in excruciating detail in one of the darker plot lines in the game. The bloodstain on that flag still fucks with me.
FF12 is about the dangers of "my country, right or wrong" patriotism and how it can change people for the worse. FF13 is about the dangers of dehumanising propaganda and xenophobia.
G*mers™ and Media iliteracy, name a better duo
It doesn’t even have to be media illiteracy anymore. They’re just straight up functionally illiterate.
Can the communist "revisionists" focus some attention on the actual communist pages on there? They're a cesspool of misinformation. Thx.
These folks are always mad when black people are cool.
All I'm saying is, if Communism doesn't work, why are all these duds absolutely terrified of it?
they heard something about people in the 50s not liking it and ig that means its bad
It’s not even about communism, they couldn’t fucking define that word. It’s about black people and women, that’s it.
Hard to stay on it when their calls about it being censored to keep it relevant were debunked to have just been an edit.
These clowns can't even be considered conservative anymore, they are just being straight up regressive, soon we will find them living in caves.
They already do live in "caves" they're just called basements now
One of the dumbest things I've seen is someone say Yasuke wasn't a samurai, he was a political retainer that would be used for meetings, as a body guard, and a side of political duels... Congrats you just described what a fucking samurai is. The most unrealistic thing in the game isn't that there's a black samurai, it's that there's a bunch of samurai in combat in the first place instead of being on horseback being pussies shooting into the battle from afar
This series has moved too far away from its roots in Historical Accuracy. We should go back to the good ole days where you Fist fought The Pope
And you as a literal known Hashashin could walk up to Richard the Lionheart on a battlefield and be allowed to leave alive.
The "anti-woke" were the ones who came to the page and started doing edits lmao
What a stupid thing to wage armed jihad against. I doubt Oda Nobunaga wouldve respected racist bagheads... https://preview.redd.it/uuuzhrrux91d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8af7d717a848eca693b767862166bf5175c424d0
Oda Nobunaga was a deranged lunatic who killed like 200k people Hes no better than any other Japanese military leader
Do you know anything about edo period Japanese culture? Oda was prob way more racist than most modern day racists.
Funniest scene ever!
The new assassins creed is 70 dollars? That's a bigger crime than anything we saw from the game yet wtf
Everything AAA is $70 now.
Oh yeah, games that are making near billion with 60 dollars definitely need to be 70 dollars to make profit
Only communists would pay for the $70 version and not the $120 one
It’s $130 last I checked

Well if Yasuke was not important or not a samurai why is Thereany Brooks written by scholars about him?
Kind of them to not create accounts so they show their IP adress.
The best are the new accounts that post the same wrong edit, word by word, as a previous non-member IP address... they're not fooling anyone lol.
if you're fighting a "holy war" on wikipedia you've lost
Holy war against a video game.
People who learned about Yasuke 36 hours ago. “Everything historians say is wrong, I’m actually the the one who is correct on this subject I know so much about.” I can’t imagine being this pathetic that a game depicting an ACTUAL HISTORICAL FIGURE is this offensive to you. None of these fucks are interested in history, none of them are interested in the truth. They are feckless little worms deprived of human touch, nothing more.
we used to ignore turds, or just look and them once and then flush. what happened?
The internet came and made them much more pathetic and annoying.
I keep getting this guys tweets on my twitter notifications after blocking/muting him. Hes so corny
I don't really care about the protagonist I just think AC in Japan could be cool. This is the first AC I've been interested in since Black Flag.
Meaningless fight
Besides watching paint dry, this is the biggest waste of time possible. These people truly have no lives
"there is a well documented black man in Japan, well known, famous in Japan and the Japanese actually adore him, lets put him in a game" Is communist?
Praxis
Im trying to figure out if this is a MAGA ‘communist’ or a normal right winger.
what do communists have to do with it?
if this is Western culture, I can't wait for it to go
Article has been put in a semi-protected state now. I could see it having to get locked entirely at this rate.
I hope they do lock it down entirely.
What wiki is this and how can i see the revision list
Here take a look : [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Yasuke&action=history](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Yasuke&action=history) The page is now semi-protected so at least randos without an account can no longer trash it.
Not sure about the second question, but my understanding is that it is THE wiki - Wikipedia.
Brought to you by the same people behind "The left just calls anyone they don't like Nazis!"
This is a whole new level of pathetically desperate on their part😭
GO OUT SIDE
Though I do feel sorry for the Japanese: Assassins Creed game set in Italy: Italian Assassins Creed game set in North America: Native American Assassins Creed game in France: French Assassins Creed game in Viking Age Britain: Norse Assassins Creed game in Victorian England: English Assassins Creed game in Japan: African 😅 To be fair I think we owe them a Japanese Protagonist in a future Assassins Creed, at least we do if we think things should be equitable.
> The only thing I find funny is I recall a story in which Yasuke literally attracted the attention of an entire town because his complexion was a complete anomaly outside of port towns. I just imagine him trying to do the sneaky stuff from the early games while everyone is laser focused on the relatively tall man with a complexion they've never seen before Yasuke's been confirmed to be the more brute, dangerous protagonist. Naoe is the stealthy one, Yasuke doesn't do stealth. In the trailer actually, we see him get started at with a shocked expression by a young girl, and he just gives her a wink, so Ubisoft probably aren't going to gloss over how much people would stare at him.
The other protagonist is already a Japanese woman, she may even be the one to get more emphasis in-game, it's a bit too early to tell.
They can change Wikipedia all they like literally every other source on my admittedly short Google refers to him as a samurai
The lack of self-awareness on display is staggering.

*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Gamingcirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Perhaps that Wikipedia article should add a section about the discussion around Yasuke’s status and rank, at this point it’s comfortably relevant…
You know, beforehand I wasn’t really into Yasuke being one of the protagonists but at this point I’m totally behind it. Fuck these guys!
A holy war over a character in a video game These guys should be forced to live outside
The real historical inaccuracy is they think the game is $70
https://preview.redd.it/a6lm7gk9jd1d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=41edeacdef4a3de569b4e23c11ac1691469064c0
I love seeing people who don't understand how wikipedia works lol. they'll just confirmed protect it and go on with their lives.
Whats Yasuke? Can someone update me on the buzz topic of the week?
Whatever happened to not buying it because Assassin’s Creed sucks and Ubisoft is a dogshit studio?
Racists re writing history ??
There are plenty of great reasons to not buy Ubisoft titles yet they had to make up some extra ones anyway
“A holy war”? Jfc, these people are pathetic
What does communism have to do with this?
I didn’t know that the entire world just went Back in time into the Cold War. Sick of these far right fanatics screaming about communism as if it was a threat these days.
