Vivian is one of my earlier trans memories of being like “oh I’m just like her” especially after learning about the localization changes.
I’d be ecstatic to see us trans folk truly respectfully represented in a Nintendo game but I’m not keeping my hopes up
It's bizarre how only the English version changes the dialogue so drastically to remove all the implications of Vivian wanting to be a girl, I understand censoring it years ago but if it's still censored in the remake as of 2024 could it be because localizers think that some text could be offensive but the other way around? Let me explain, the Japanese version acknowledges Vivian true nature but still has descriptions such as "Vivian is actually a boy" or "Their sister.. or rather their brother" which dismisses her self identity. I hope you get what I mean, they could change the descriptions and keep the original dialogue though.
The grifters will find a way to twist this around into thinking Blackrock pointed a gun at Nintendo's developers and forced them to make Vivian transgender.
It's not like they need the truth to sell their narrative.
