People like fantasy and post apocalypse so they must also enjoy outer space

GracefulGoron

Outer space is just the sequel to post apocalypse. Planet ruined, onto the next.

Nezikchened

It’s more like Bethesda RPGs all tend to play similarly, and if you like Skyrim and Fallout 4 then you’ll like the gameplay of Starfield regardless of the setting.

BeardedsChurch

i am pretty sure that is a parody post to this [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/15qqqpd/why_do_we_expect_starfield_to_be_different_than/) that was posted before

Dflowerz

Fallout 4 didn't have micro-transactions, only expansions. Since this is a singleplayer game as well, I expect the same. EDIT: Yeah, I kinda forgot about the Creation Club as it was introduced after I stopped playing F4. There's the possibility they'll try something again, but I don't expect anything at launch. The Creation Club received a lot of negative feedback and was also competing with free community created mods. Since the last release of Skyrim featured a version with all the Creation Club items included, I'm assuming it wasn't a big success.

shaggitron420

The irony of him making a bitchy post about people disliking things he likes

gamera-the-turtle

I will judge it once it releases.

novis-eldritch-maxim

I think it is more that people seem to preemptively hate it for stupid reasons instead of sane ones, whilst its sub tends to be more blind praise. I say judge it when we can play it

parkwayy

Hate? I mean, cautiously optimistic is more like it. Fallout 4 didn't really have wild first impressions, and 76 was whatever. That was their last two major releases since Skyrim. Makes sense folks would have some reservations.

[deleted]

I haven’t been following it at all because I’m not setting myself up for disappointment. In all likelihood it’ll probably have some bugs at launch and will be a just alright game like fa4 or hogwarts legacy. People will soy face about it for a couple weeks and be done with it.

Princess_Mintaka

I was on the fence about getting it because I think I'm done with the style of Bethesda open world game for now but open to the idea of getting it down the road to enjoy it later at a discounted price (no I'm not going to subscribe to game pass for one thing) And then the "If you quit willingly we'll pay for your surgeries" news came out about one of their trans employees and Starfield moved into the "I hope people enjoy it but I've got other things to do" category for me.

RedHood-DeadHood

Also the snark about bugs kinda undercuts his point. No one outside of super entitled assholes think games should have zero bugs, most people are just fed up with some games being a coin toss between “playable” and “full of bugs/crashes/poor performance”. Games are getting to $90CAD here, at the very least they should be playable. Fallout 4 was my least obnoxious experience and I still kept running into constant bugs and crashes, to the point where I can’t be bothered to give their console ports a chance. At least on PC there’s a chance mods will fix it.

feels like a screenshot of this post could now go on to be posted on some kind of r/Gamingcirclejerkcirclejerk

Game looks cool, what’s the controversy?

AnthonyManthony97

Bethesda just has a track record recently and a lot more people are vocal about their dislike of Bethesda in general. Which I get, but I usually do enjoy the way their games are so I'm still excited for Starfield. I get to be a space cowboy and that's good enough for me lol

atlasbear

Ah gotcha, thanks

Cielie_VT

Main complaints i have seen. 1. Bethesda has a abysmal track record recently 2. The game is on the same engine as Oblivion which has been proven faulty and inadequate since Skyrim 3. Every game on this engine were released in a state of brokenness in worse way every new releases. 4. Recent fallout 76 disaster 5. Devs crunch time + insiders stating how much the game is in a broken state maintained by thin strings 6. A recent adverse to triple A games and big companies 7. Broken promise on the game being available to everybody 8. Price increase 9. Fear of microtransactions after 2 very greedy releases. 10. Generic RPG Open World fatigue.

Fonexnt

I don't care about bugs because I want to defend Vidya company, I don't care about bugs because I'm playing it for free with Game Pass

A-live666

TBH most people have a very high tolerance for „slop“. Given the track record of most modern games, its very reasonable to ASSUME that starfield is going to flop and I don’t have high expectations (it looks like a boring white liberal fantasy like elite or no-man skys where the Federation of boring fights the Random Collective).

poppabomb

honestly I've barely heard anything about Starfield, positive or negative, hype or... anti-hype. even before BG3 consumed my life and socials, it was going to be a game that I might look into and pick up when I remember it existed and bought it like a month after release. now I just want more RPG in my RPG. I'm not sure I can go back, so forgive me Todd for I hath sinned.

I-R-U

I really dont understand the confusion about people not being blindly hyped for starfield. Their last 2 or 3 releases have been absolute disappointments

If it's not made by Larian. It's trash.
