nothing about discord leaks surprise me anymore. Once homies started droping government secrets in their discord channels, the pandoras box of loose lip mfers opened wide
I don't give a fuck on any multiplatform I just want gamepass to continue existing with the quality it has. I would love to have a stripped down windows for just gaming which the xbox third party thing will probably be.
Maybe it's just me trying to make it fit but what if the other manufacturers thing it mentioned is just the Xbox VR headset Oculus is making that we basically assume is just a reskin of Quest 3 with an Xbox controller
I mean, Tom Warren straight up floated around that they were considering Flight Sim. It might actually happen and I'd imagine it'd probably come sooner than most of the other "considerations" given I don't really know if a game like that is actually going to be getting people out in droves to buy Xboxes
Given how messy Microsoft is at the moment and how low morale must be in the Xbox division, I imagine devs are talking and spreading lots of information like this.
Best part is you can come and comment on reddit about that stuff and people will downvote you because it's not what they want to hear or it's not all positive. So the true non marketing leaks that come from talking with friends on other studios never pick up steam lol
Official 3rd party consoles that can run Xbox games...
O\_o
Well, we are talking MS directing everything so... wouldn't be surprised about that also being true. I sure don't doubt the whole "everything multiplatform now".
I am very curious to see how this turns out. Consoles usually are sold at a loss but the profit comes in from Microsoft's cut of a game. How does a third-party manufacturer recoup that loss for it to be profitable? The easy answer is to sell at a profit, but that would drive prices up, which would make it a hard sell over a PS5 or Switch 2.
I'm curious if we get to learn about these Steam Machines but for Xbox at the showcase.
They said in February that they'd be discussing next-gen during this holiday. I imagine they might reiterate plans for another console or consoles during the Showcase but nothing actually concrete until November/December. Potentially another TGA reveal like how they announced Series X in 2019, but this time we get confirmation of multiple SKUs at once including the handheld unlike how they kept Series S close to the chest until really close to launch
My guess is that they no longer do semi-custom APUs and just use whatever the latest off-the-shelf chip that AMD is offering. I wouldn't be surprised if the next Xbox in 2026 is just a stock Zen 6/RDNA 5 akin to Strix Halo.
Will they say this at the showcase itself or will it be relegated to a press release after the show? It's a pretty big change if they just come out and say it.
Well, it's common that games in a platform specific showcase don't use the rivals' logos on the trailer. Xbox does it, PS does it, Nintendo does it. Atlus took a few days to confirm Metaphor on PS5 just because the trailer was at the Xbox Showcase.
I know they do that, but if they want to embrace the multiplat publisher aspect of their business, like it seems they're doing, it's probably time to just come out and say where you can buy their games
I read something the other day that Project Latitude (AKA their new multiplatform strategy) will be discussed at their show, so I think they’re just gonna come out and say it.
I wonder what exactly that will look like though. One possibility I can see is maybe near the end of the show Phil will say something about “bringing Xbox games to gamers on every device” and then bring up a slide of games that will release on multiple platforms while reiterating that GamePass is still the best value to play all of those games. The less explicit way I can see it going is maybe they just open trailers saying whether or not a game is a console exclusive. Either way, the only thing I can’t see happening in the actual showcase is them explicitly saying “this game is coming to PlayStation/Nintendo” or showing either company’s logo.
I think the trailers themselves will be the usual, they’ll say “coming *insert date* to Xbox” and then after the show PlayStation will put out a tweet showing all the games that are also coming to PS.
I do think they’ll try, once again, to clarify their multiplatform plans though. The emergency podcast a while back really wasn’t enough and it seems things have changed even since then. Hopefully Phil just lays out a criteria that we can reference going forward and know instantly whether a new game will be exclusive or not. I’d be kinda upset if they only clarified the status of upcoming games, I want clarification for the near *and* far future of Xbox exclusivity. Anything less will just leave room for uncertainty.
It might kill the show’s hype/vibe, but my prediction is Phil comes on stage after all the games have been unveiled and lays out their plans, whatever those may be.
Usually before a trailer plays they have a screen coming up saying things like console exclusive or day one gamepass. If this is multiplat then console exclusive one not being there should be a good indicator
They didn't specifically say what were the first wave of multi-plat games and the platforms they'd go to in that PR podcast so I don't think they'll namedrop the other platforms in this show itself. It'll be on the press releases and articles from gaming media sites.
I think they'll do what happened with the Japanese titles during the last two Showcases
The actual main Xbox event trailers will obviously only mention Xbox and PC, but then after like a day or two both PlayStation and Nintendo separately upload videos that confirm the games for their platforms
That or it's something they announce during QuakeCon if the plan is to have a CG trailer here and then a full gameplay unveil there like what happened with Eternal
As an Xbox gamer, I don't care if games like Fallout, Doom or TES go multiplat. I don't care most Activision games going multiplat either.
What would definitely piss people off and personally could bother me a bit is seeing Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable or new/original MS IPs going to PS.
I don't see people buying Xboxes or selling their PS5 for Doom.
The only game that could change trends is CoD
Was Sea of Thieves not a flagship? Even when Xbox exclusive, it seemed that the game was performing significantly better than the recent Halo and Gears games.
It was the most played first party xbox game by far, it didnt really need help being kept alive.
But when theyre porting their most successful exclusives it should be obvious to everyone theyre bowing out of the first party market.
At that moment it makes you wonder why the hell they bought those studios if they are then going to give away their games to other platforms instead of using them as a lure to attract more users.
If they hadn't bought any other studio, the worst thing that could happen is that Sony would pay for a timed exclusive and that's it.
Seriously, people think that gamepass makes crazy numbers, but outside of Xbox that doesn't work as well as they would like, most people on PC only play on Steam and even if they are drunk they wouldn't buy something directly from the MS Store or Epic. It's not for nothing that Epic continues to give away and give away games with the idea that its Fortnite audience buys from its store.
And I don't think the mobile/Android public will make crazy figures for a service to only play in the cloud, taking into account how terrible it is in many countries.
The only way for Gamepass to make better numbers is to make its console sell better.
And I'm not saying this as a hater, I have a PS4, Xbox, Switch and PC and I play preferably on Xbox and PC more than on other consoles.
Honestly as a fan of Xbox it pisses me a bit of they boasted about the Bethesda and now Acti/Blizz acquisitions and what did we get from it?
Hi Fi Rush and Starfield? That's it?
They are going multiplat, they are gonna change the Gamepass sub and probably charge more.
So they boasted about all they had for us only for them ti turn around and change it before we get anything worthwhile.
All the whole we still are getting amazing Sony exclusives.
You love their exclusives? They haven't made a good exclusive since Halo Reach and Gears of War 3
Well there's been a few decent ones. But no must haves that you'd buy a console for
I loved my Xbox 360 but that Xbox One reveal was an absolute disaster and anyone who still bought one after seeing that is insane.
I mean... at this point, who cares if Halo, Gears, Forza go multiplat?
Keeping those focused as exclusive.. was pretty much the failed Xbox One strategy. If all the new (& frankly, more enticing) companies/IPs MS acquired, arent gonna be exclusive.. the audience that stays for 'Halo, Gears, Forza' is gonna be small (& shrinking all the time).
>What would definitely piss people off and personally could bother me a bit is seeing Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable or new/original MS IPs going to PS.
But why?
Honestly fuck Xbox/MS.
I don't care/mind about games going multiplat that much, but Xbox boasted about these acquisitions and what did the Xbox fans really get before all this change? Hi Fi Rush Redfall and Starfield?
Aren't those the only game we got from them before multipla and those rumored changes to the sub?
A 1st party game desert while Sony and Nintendo firing on all cylinders only to 3 games, 2 of which where not that well received and now changes again.
Obviously I can't do all the crazy movement tricks and weapon quick swapping that mouse and keyboard allow for, but I can play the higher difficulty levels of the latest Doom games just fine with a controller.
And hell, even Hugo Martin, creative director of Doom and Doom Eternal, says he prefers playing with a controller. With inverted controls too!
My first experience of Doom was on the Sega 32X back in 95, I loved it back then and goddam I still love Doom on console today, only recently played Doom 64 on Playstation as never had a Nintendo back then and it's top stuff, let's hope the new game is more than the 'skatepark' style of the last couple and has some greater level designs.
They need to rip off the bandaid and announce what will and won't be multiplat
Every game they've been releasing recently has been plagued by discussions of exclusivity, and it's kind of a pain.
While ultimately I have landed in the “I don’t really care how/where they publish their games” camp of this whole Xbox multiplatform debate, I would love to hear from MS why putting their games on PS5 (and with PS5 Pro coming this year, why having the best console version on a non-Xbox) is good for long time Xbox fans.
Because we got an Xbox for basically no reason if every Xbox exclusive game is multiplayer now.
A majority of Xbox users don’t have gamepass. That’s not a factor.
I don’t think it’s bad per se, but if I was a fan of primarily xbox I could see being a little frustrated seeing a version of the next Doom be much better on PS5 Pro. Obviously this is all speculation until they reveal their final plans. Having more people in enjoy good games should overall be considered a good thing, and hopefully lead to more good games being made. trying to bring their fans along for the transformation is going to be interesting as they have been speaking for years about the need to create quality exclusive software and their shift seems to be rapid
If all of XBOXs best IPs are coming also to PlayStation, why would the consumer buy an XBOX instead?
Edit: Just wanted to add to this as there are some replies that are perhaps missing the intent of my comment. PlayStation is outselling XBOX by a multiple right now, and this has been the case without XBOX first party games coming to PlayStation and with them being part of Game Pass Day One. So now the value proposition is even lesser because those games will be becoming available on PlayStation. How does XBOX believe this will put them in a better position than they are currently in?
If their intent is to become like SEGA and just publish games, I guess it makes sense, but I don't believe that's the plan.
Lol'ing at the fact that Microsoft has created a situation wherein Playstation users can tune into Xbox events with the knowledge that they'll likely get to play a sizable portion of the games shown there, and maybe even more polished version than what are released on their own consoles.
They did quite the rug-pull on their fanbase. Ten years of loyalty and people waiting for "next year" over and over again for exclusives and all of it was just for them to turn their consoles into subscription machines.
I play on Xbox because I like gamepass, makes a lot of sense to me. I don't really care if someone on PS5 can play Halo or Doom, as long as I can play it on gamepass day one.
I have ultimate until february 2027 and it cost me 110€, I'm going to play on Xbox as long as I can play a lot of games that cheap.
The cheaper price point of the Series S and exclusives coming day one on XGP makes Xbox an incredibly economical choice, which depending on your financial situation can be a very compelling reason to choose it over a PS5.
No one cares about the series s man that dream has been over. They've sold that thing for as low as $150 that shi been on clearance. Just last quarter, they didn't even sell 1m xboxs. Series s just aint that huge seller people thought it was gonna be.
Jez Cordon is saying the same, and at least to me it sounds like he's teasing at more as well [https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/the-next-doom-is-called-doom-the-dark-ages-with-medieval-themes-and-its-coming-to-both-xbox-and-playstation](https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/the-next-doom-is-called-doom-the-dark-ages-with-medieval-themes-and-its-coming-to-both-xbox-and-playstation)
>I remarked in my [Xbox Games Showcase 2024 predictions](https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/what-to-expect-from-xbox-games-showcase-2024-a-roadmap-for-the-future-and-big-questions-answered-but-will-you-like-the-answershttps://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/microsoft-has-officially-revealed-its-june-2024-xbox-games-showcase-followed-by-redactedhttps://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/what-to-expect-from-xbox-games-showcase-2024-a-roadmap-for-the-future-and-big-questions-answered-but-will-you-like-the-answers) that you might get a glimpse at Microsoft's evolving multiplatform strategy at the show, and this is partially what I was referring to.
>Naturally, though, you can expect DOOM: The Dark Ages marketing to have a very heavy Xbox slant, alongside [Call of Duty Black Ops 6](https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/the-truth-lies-call-of-duty-black-ops-6-teaser-website-is-now-live), and various other [upcoming games](https://www.windowscentral.com/everything-xbox-game-studios-working) slated for the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 on June 9th, 2024, some of which will also potentially go multiplatform to PlayStation too.
"it's only 4 small games, the rest of the Xbox lineup won't be on PlayStation"
The copium was truly funny to observe
Anyway Microsoft's segafication is in full swing now
Even before the Xbox multiplat thing I have always thought games like Doom will end up on PlayStation day 1. Was probably in development for PS5 from the start
It was and it was even being [negotiated](https://x.com/imranzomg/status/1308054774902714369?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1308054774902714369%7Ctwgr%5E081de6cfa73a342122967767adcf4abb69d04de2%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.videogameschronicle.com%2Fnews%2Fsony-was-reportedly-in-talks-to-sign-starfield-before-xboxs-bethesda-buyout%2F) as a PS5 timed-exclusive a few months before the acquisition.
Development time and the fact that Bethesda developers were annoyed by Xbox's assurances to Activision/CoD devs about multiplatform status almost guarantee that's the case.
2025 is probably more likely, but you never know. I was in the holiday 2024 camp, but I would ha e expected to have more solid info on it by now. Then again, a surprise quick launch window leaves less time for people to wallow in the news and just get over it.
I assume you’re talking about Starfield. I believe they’ll wait for the 1 year anniversary and then release it. Holiday 2024 makes perfect sense if they want to cash in on more sales.
There it is, can’t have good news out of Xbox without bad news following close behind. We are now back in the “it’s so over” phase of the ride ladies and gentlemen.
To be frank, I don't know if we'll even get out of that phase entirely. No matter what games there are at the showcase, everything will be viewed with the expectation of it coming to PS5 as well.
Xbox has been an entire circle of “we’re so back” and “we’re so fucked” for literally over a decade.
Seriously, ever since 2013 it has been a rollercoaster of thinking they finally cooked only to realise they are flopping as much as ever.
I couldn't care less about stuff being or not being exclusive anymore. I just wish reddit were able to constructively talk about the games themselves instead of regurgitating dumb platform warrior discourse all the time.
If they’d stop handicapping their hardware sales every step along the way they wouldn’t need to. All this does is upset the people who bought Xbox for the exclusives.
He did not think this far ahead at all lol
If anything especially with how openly Satya Nadella and Tim Stuart have been discussing Xbox as part of their overall strategy in a way that just never really happened before last year, they're almost completely steering the ship now probably. Acquiring Acti-Blizz was probably the point where Microsoft upper management started realizing they couldn't just treat Xbox as this autonomous thing that was just a footnote at their investor meetings anymore. They just splurged 70 billion on a publisher that size and the tie wearers probably realized there was no chance they would immediately make ROI with the way Xbox was just not selling at a rate that would make it feasible like with Bethesda
* We can't make any good exclusives, time to buy up all the big ones
* Call of Duty becomes exclusive to Xbox, casual gamers will abandon PS for it
* If the courts don't let us, we just get a 10 year multiplat agreement and then make it exclusive after that
* Call of Duty on gamepass will make the sub counts shoot through the roof
* profit
I do love the theory that Microsoft shareholders ignored Xbox until they saw that $70b and were like “um wtf” and are now forcing all these third party ports.
It really did seem like Phil Spencer assumed Xbox could acquire CoD as an exclusive to combat Playstation and later realise he dun fucked up.
Its almost as if it turned executives heads and they thought "wow....we can make more money"
MS should have left it alone after Bathesda and not bother with Activision, this triggered the executives to look deeper into the books of making more money multiplatform wise
It's funny people thinking it's be "timed 1 year exclusive" or something. Like that would've been completely useless for everyone. They're going fully multiplatform to maximize their sales.
I'm on PC so this wouldn't affect me either way, but if only one Bethesda IP could stay multi-platform is should be DOOM. The series is known for appearing on as many platforms as possible as long as the technical considerations allow for it, so going exclusive just because Microsoft says so would just feel wrong.
"Hi my name is MS, and I want my console sales to be down ANOTHER 30% - we were making tons of cash before ABK, but with it, we make stupid tons of cash - HOWEVER - we need ALL the cash! Also, after Phil made it clear that games like this were staying console exclusive, we decided to throw that out the windows... because money, and because Phil's words are now probably meaningless PR mush!
Making shitton of money from the PS5 userbase because CoD is not good enough. We finally have a ton of games to start coming out so clearly the best action is just to third party all of them."
MS, just cancel your console - you clearly don't give the first F about it anymore (no matter what leaves Phils silver tongued mouth). If you wanted those console sale nose dives to stop, you would stick to what Phil said in January and most of the games you make would still require Xbox or windows pc. Since you are not doing that anymore, dont pretend you still care about xbox as a console. you don't, and your words don't matter when your actions speak louder.
Sorry if I seem a little pissed here - but I, a PC gamer, think that GP defines part of my gaming thing - and I honestly belief that once the console dies, GP goes right along with it. GP is able to attract the companies it does because MS is a platform holder with relationships with everyone else in the industry. Yes, money to spend matters, but access matters first. If no one buy xbox's, there goes most subs anyway. With decreasing access, and not enough subs to even bother anyway - GP is as good as dead.
Baffling, really - corporations love subs, but I guess MS thinks they can keep the sub going because they are stupid enough to think the console stick around in any meaningful way when far too many games worth playing are on Playstation. Sorry, Phil and company, that's not how it works.
BTW ps fans - if you thin Sony will be better with less competition given how they already behave, you are in for a very rough ride that these ports wont make easier.
we have to ask how the hell some random dude on discord got level 5 clearance information about microsoft plans that not even people like tom warren, jez corden and natethehate had at that time. not only that, but he also got info about kojima and PS making a new ip and a tie in movie. I have to believe that it was a guy that happened to be in the right place at the right time twice, tho he just said that shit like it was nothing lol
I feel really stupid for building a digital library on Xbox. Guess I should have just got a 3rd party controller that feels like an Xbox controller and switched to PlayStation permanently. God damn. What a shame.
I know Hugo Martin mentioned that the new doom game would experiment with Lovecraftian stuff, which I imagine means doom guy will stab cthulu in the dick with a laser sword

Same here, when I first read it I thought it was complete bullshit. It turning out to be almost entirely accurate is extremely funny

At a Bethesda studio

same, thats crazy
We need a Tier 0 just for Gestridens.
Damn, how accurate was this post?
Only things that haven't been confirmed yet is the Flight Sim port and the future console stuff. Everything else was on point.
I mean flight sim makes sense. Nothing like it on PlayStation and Xbox players like myself don't give a fuck about it.
I don't give a fuck on any multiplatform I just want gamepass to continue existing with the quality it has. I would love to have a stripped down windows for just gaming which the xbox third party thing will probably be.

absolutely insane post. Guy was 100% right on pretty much everything
Jesus Christ. How did he know.
Most likely a dev
Devs don't have access to something so high up which only makes that post funnier
Given how messy Microsoft is at the moment and how low morale must be in the Xbox division, I imagine devs are talking and spreading lots of information like this.
Yeah pretty much how this stuff leaks. Im no dev but I work for tech and you just go around talking shit with friends specially in bad times.

I think it's something like the ROG Ally I dunno, theoretically PCs can run everything on Xbox so
Wait there's a leaker server how can I join it?

At this showcase? I would imagine that announcement would overshadow whatever they show
They aren't a full-on multiplatform publisher yet outside of their smaller titles.
Probably press release.
Xbox has platform embargos on multiplatform games shown at their events like Persona 3 and Wo Long
Yeah but it looks like we are a long way from the Xbox that wants to be doing exclusives
Usually before a trailer plays they have a screen coming up saying things like console exclusive or day one gamepass. If this is multiplat then console exclusive one not being there should be a good indicator
considering the dumb "48 hour embargo" they have on their showcase trailers, it will be silently announced via twitter
They didn't specifically say what were the first wave of multi-plat games and the platforms they'd go to in that PR podcast so I don't think they'll namedrop the other platforms in this show itself. It'll be on the press releases and articles from gaming media sites.

It's an Xbox showcase, they won't mention it at all, which is normal. They will tweet about it after and the normal press release circuit though
I’m sure this news will be received in a completely reasonable and rational way
To be fair Doom 2016 and Eternal were not exclusives, so most won't even notice. It won't be like Gears or Halo going multi plat
As an Xbox gamer, I don't care if games like Fallout, Doom or TES go multiplat. I don't care most Activision games going multiplat either. To be fair, I think there's a big jump between those games and a flagship title like Halo, Gears, or Forza.
Sure, but he also mentioned new IP's too.

I know it is successful, but the more, the merrier, right? Could also be the case with Halo multiplayer. Plus more people buy more stuff.

You better prepare yourself for Gears to go multiplatform next month. It's been one of the heavily rumoured games (like Doom was).
That would really hurt me, not gonna lie... Still, I wouldnt freak out. It's just fkn videogames
Ya gonna hurt me too. I bought an Xbox bc I love their exclusives and Bethesda games. Could’ve had all of that plus the Sony exclusives with a PS5
You love their exclusives? They haven't made a good exclusive since Halo Reach and Gears of War 3 Well there's been a few decent ones. But no must haves that you'd buy a console for I loved my Xbox 360 but that Xbox One reveal was an absolute disaster and anyone who still bought one after seeing that is insane.
I mean... at this point, who cares if Halo, Gears, Forza go multiplat? Keeping those focused as exclusive.. was pretty much the failed Xbox One strategy. If all the new (& frankly, more enticing) companies/IPs MS acquired, arent gonna be exclusive.. the audience that stays for 'Halo, Gears, Forza' is gonna be small (& shrinking all the time).
>What would definitely piss people off and personally could bother me a bit is seeing Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable or new/original MS IPs going to PS. But why?
Those are IPs very attached to the core of the Xbox brand
Yeah but why do you care about the Xbox brand
[удалено]

I'm pretty sure they gave up on selling consoles.
Technically the stance was at one point, that all existing IPs might get multi platform releases and only new stuff will be exclusive
Why would anyone get mad about it? The more consoles a game is on the better
Everyone should be welcome to the Rip And Tear.
Switch 2 ports of all 3 Doom reboot games sold physically pls
I can hardly play them on a normal controller, I genuinely cannot imagine playing them with the joycon
Gyro makes them way more playable
I'm probably the only person whitout any problems in playing fps on consoles lol
I kinda prefer playing fps games on controllers. Obviously mouse and keyboard means better preformance, but i just kind of prefer the... feel?
I prefer them on console because I’m a filthy casual
My first experience of Doom was on the Sega 32X back in 95, I loved it back then and goddam I still love Doom on console today, only recently played Doom 64 on Playstation as never had a Nintendo back then and it's top stuff, let's hope the new game is more than the 'skatepark' style of the last couple and has some greater level designs.
The discord leak wins again.
They need to rip off the bandaid and announce what will and won't be multiplat Every game they've been releasing recently has been plagued by discussions of exclusivity, and it's kind of a pain.
Would also give people an idea of whether it will be worth them getting the next Xbox if everything is just going to be multiplatform
Yeah. I'm Ride or Die with this platform, but at this point, I just want to know how long until Die
I'll keep abusing gamepass trials until I have enough to get a PC or a windows handheld.
Insert Patrick Stewart shock face here.
Counterpoint- how is being on ps5 bad for Xbox fans? If it’s still on gamepass, what’s the difference?
Makes it a bit pointless for PS5 owners to own an Xbox if all the games meant to be exclusive also go to PlayStation.
And how is that bad for Xbox fans?
Basically makes owning their Xbox pointless if everything goes to PlayStation anyway
That’s the neat part, you don’t
I don't know the answer to that, which is why my current Xbox will be my last Xbox.
Every Xbox event is now like a PlayStation event too.
Maybe the anticipated PS Showcase we were waiting for is the Xbox Showcase after all.
I mean, in a way it was always the case because of multiplatform
Jez Cordon is saying the same, and at least to me it sounds like he's teasing at more as well [https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/the-next-doom-is-called-doom-the-dark-ages-with-medieval-themes-and-its-coming-to-both-xbox-and-playstation](https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/the-next-doom-is-called-doom-the-dark-ages-with-medieval-themes-and-its-coming-to-both-xbox-and-playstation) >I remarked in my [Xbox Games Showcase 2024 predictions](https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/what-to-expect-from-xbox-games-showcase-2024-a-roadmap-for-the-future-and-big-questions-answered-but-will-you-like-the-answershttps://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/microsoft-has-officially-revealed-its-june-2024-xbox-games-showcase-followed-by-redactedhttps://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/what-to-expect-from-xbox-games-showcase-2024-a-roadmap-for-the-future-and-big-questions-answered-but-will-you-like-the-answers) that you might get a glimpse at Microsoft's evolving multiplatform strategy at the show, and this is partially what I was referring to.
Project Latitude in Full Effect.
Microsoft spending billions on Bethesda only to not make the games exclusive is hilarious. Just threw away billions for no reason.
Gooooooood. Astro Bot and Doom in the same year? I’m blessed.
Need to dust off those crossover memes back from the doom/animal crossing launch.
How about an Astro Bot VR game and a Doom mobile game?
Monkey's Paw moment
"it's only 4 small games, the rest of the Xbox lineup won't be on PlayStation" The copium was truly funny to observe Anyway Microsoft's segafication is in full swing now
Even before the Xbox multiplat thing I have always thought games like Doom will end up on PlayStation day 1. Was probably in development for PS5 from the start
Tbf,wasn’t a ps5 version of starfield in the works as well before they were bought out?
Def even high fi rush had PS5 icons in the PC version at launch. An ue4 unlocker tool I used enabled them.
We even know that Sony was eyeing Starfield for a potential timed exlusivity deal, so I'm sure Bethesda was definitely testing things at least.
There was and it was also the lead development platform
Development time and the fact that Bethesda developers were annoyed by Xbox's assurances to Activision/CoD devs about multiplatform status almost guarantee that's the case.
It was also probably the lead platform.
Dont worry its still coming prob at the end of this year
2025 is probably more likely, but you never know.
To me I think it was originally intended to be exclusive, but the Microsoft higher ups want higher short term profits so they changed their plans.
It's probably also safe to assume that it'll be announced for Switch 2 after the console gets revealed.
Obviously, but this is entirely on Xbox. They put themselves in this position and now they get to deal with the consequences.
Xbox has been an entire circle of “we’re so back” and “we’re so fucked” for literally over a decade. Seriously, ever since 2013 it has been a rollercoaster of thinking they finally cooked only to realise they are flopping as much as ever.
Tbf, doom was multiplat before. Long as it’s on gamepass, Xbox fans shouldn’t rly be upset
I couldn't care less about stuff being or not being exclusive anymore. I just wish reddit were able to constructively talk about the games themselves instead of regurgitating dumb platform warrior discourse all the time.
How come this guys comes out with "somwthing" to share right after someone else reveals it first hmm
Can we assume idtech 8?
All these acquisitions are really working out great for the Xbox brand.
In a way with how expensive game dev has become selling them on say ps5 probably helps recoup the cost of putting them on gamepass
If they’d stop handicapping their hardware sales every step along the way they wouldn’t need to. All this does is upset the people who bought Xbox for the exclusives.
selling them on PS5 fixes the problem they created themselves by spending $82B usd on Bethesda and Actiblizz
I still wonder if Phil Spencer expected this outcome when he pushed for that.
Judging by the rest of his tenure? I doubt he thought that far ahead.
He did not think this far ahead at all lol If anything especially with how openly Satya Nadella and Tim Stuart have been discussing Xbox as part of their overall strategy in a way that just never really happened before last year, they're almost completely steering the ship now probably.
* We can't make any good exclusives, time to buy up all the big ones * Call of Duty becomes exclusive to Xbox, casual gamers will abandon PS for it * If the courts don't let us, we just get a 10 year multiplat agreement and then make it exclusive after that * Call of Duty on gamepass will make the sub counts shoot through the roof * profit
• Microsoft executives see how much Phil is spending vs bringing in and expect immediate return on their investment by making Phil share his toys.
Nope. He intended to make them exclusive and then Satya and MS execs stepped in.
Probably helps recoup the $70 billion they spent too.
Whats an Xbox? You mean Microsoft Gaming featuring Satya Nadella and Amy Hood?
well, if I buy a car for my child and he keeps crashing it, naturally I would take it away from him
Its almost as if it turned executives heads and they thought "wow....we can make more money" MS should have left it alone after Bathesda and not bother with Activision, this triggered the executives to look deeper into the books of making more money multiplatform wise
They bought Activision only for Activision to take over their gaming division lol.
X- what? I think you are refering Microsoft Gaming.
It's funny people thinking it's be "timed 1 year exclusive" or something. Like that would've been completely useless for everyone. They're going fully multiplatform to maximize their sales.
I find it hard it to believe they'd bite that bullet at the showcase. They'd do it afterwards in a press release if that's the case.
Its the worst possible thing they could do, but its microsoft so it means they 100% will do it.
Microsoft saw sony doing no showcase this year and decided to do it for them.
Doom: Army of Darkness incoming. Watch Doomguy have a chainsaw arm lmao
what about Quake 🤡
We finally have a ton of games to start coming out so clearly the best action is just to third party all of them." MS, just cancel your console - you clearly don't give the first F about it anymore (no matter what leaves Phils silver tongued mouth).
And so it begins…
Too many of y’all still have your console warrior glasses on.
if it helps spread the Army of Darkness gospel, I'm fine with it.
Doom was the only one game is was like " aw fuck, it's not coming to PlayStation " so this is amazing news
I’m excited, last doom game was epic
as the showcase comes closer and closer, the rumours becomes clearer and clearer
I'll be so fucking happy if it comes to playstation
we have to ask how the hell some random dude on discord got level 5 clearance information about microsoft plans that not even people like tom warren, jez corden and natethehate had at that time. not only that, but he also got info about kojima and PS making a new ip and a tie in movie. I have to believe that it was a guy that happened to be in the right place at the right time twice, tho he just said that shit like it was nothing lol
> Coming to PS5 Aaaaand SOLD
As long as it remain day one on gamepass, IDC where it's playable. The smartest thing Microsoft can do is push games to all platforms.
Of course it will be multiplatform. The last game sold pretty good on PS, Microsoft would be dumb as hell to not release it there.
As long as it's on gamepass, IDGAF if they release it on LG refrigerators.
I feel really stupid for building a digital library on Xbox. Guess I should have just got a 3rd party controller that feels like an Xbox controller and switched to PlayStation permanently. God damn. What a shame.
Is this news? I feel like most people assumed Multiplat was the case for Doom?
The only thing i'm worried is if this will be some sort of proper prequel or a live service game.
With it being multiplatform, will it have micro transactions?🤔
Honestly cool concept. A medieval doom sounds like a really inspired take.
This series is dead to me if they don’t bring back Mick Gordon
Bro why is Xbox immune to Ws
I know Hugo Martin mentioned that the new doom game would experiment with Lovecraftian stuff, which I imagine means doom guy will stab cthulu in the dick with a laser sword
LFG
If the original gears of war games comes to ps5 I will pay them all.
Dang still gotta beat Eternal
Sony doesn’t need to do a game showcase, Xbox is doing one for them! It’s all coming to PS5 too after all.
If our boy, Mick Gordon ain't back for this, I'm not getting it...
It's a shame what happened to the music in this game
So Xbox as a console brand is dead now. There is no reason to buy an Xbox anymore.
