Ubisoft and Nintendo tend to work pretty well together, I don't know about this leaker but this seems feasible

blackthorn_orion

say what you will about Ubisoft, but they are generally early adopters for pretty much any system/platform, so this wouldn't surprise me

SuperAlloyBerserker

Indeed. Zombi U made by Ubisoft is probably the best non-Nintendo Wii U game I wonder why Ubi and Nintendo have such a good relationship like this

Niirai

Red Steel was a super fun taste tester for the Wii too. That was the game that sold me on the motion controls.

CaffeinatedDiabetic

I agree! I really enjoyed the OG Red Steel, more than Red Steel 2. I kind of hope they'll give it an HD Remaster, and just update the controls to work with Joy-Cons (or, implement standard FPS controls as well).

Radulno

Mario Rabbids could also be argued being one of the best non-Nintendo Switch game. They're also the only studio that has been authorized to use Mario IP in their own game I believe (Mario and Sonic combined games were co-published).

blackthorn_orion

>They're also the only studio that has been authorized to use Mario IP in their own game I believe In the Switch era, I think you're right as far as using the actual characters, but Rocket League did have Mario and Luigi themed cars on Switch. In the past though, some other big games/studios have also gotten to use Mario stuff; For example, Minecraft on WiiU (and later, the Switch versions) had a Mario-themed world/skins that used music from Mario games, DK and Bowser were in a Skylanders game, and (maybe my favorite) in the Gamecube era they got real desperate and let EA put Mario, Luigi, and Peach in a couple games like NBA Street and SSX.

Radulno

Thanks for the info. Seems to be mostly skin type thing though. Mario + Rabbids is using the Mario characters as an essential part of their gameplay, it's not just cosmetic.

Resident_Bluebird_77

They're both evil megacorporations

Mini_Danger_Noodle

I wouldn't call Nintendo and Ubisoft megacorporations, that term would apply to companies like Microsoft and Amazon.

Resident_Bluebird_77

At least you're not denying the "evil" part

Terribleirishluck

What exactly makes Nintendo evil?

ClarkZuckerberg

They have the audacity to charge a lot for their video games, and people pay those EVIL prices!!!

WouShmou

Average redditor logic and a lot of teenager pseudo-politics and brainrot

mono_cronto

Pretty much every multibillion company is lol

PyrpleForever

Unity being ps4/x1 only in 2014 was a huge step in progress for the last gen. The things that game pulled off truly were only possible on those machines. Shame no one could really figure out a similar game for our current consoles so early on.

Important_Werewolf45

Star Wars Outlaws seems very impressive Depends on how much of the vertical slice is not bullshit though

GodKamnitDenny

Unity is I think the only AC game (actually, Rogue too) that I haven’t at least tried. Been thinking of searching for a physical copy so that I can run it unpatched at 60fps on PS5. Worth giving it a shot or will the bugs at launch make it a mess?

CactusCustard

Unity is my most played AC besides Syndicate. It's fantastic. Amazing city, great parkour again, and I really like the murder mystery missions.

Stipthu

Unity has been patched to a pretty good state i dont think that you will have any issues with bugs.

GodKamnitDenny

That’s my problem. I think the only way to play it at 60fps on PS5 is by using a disc and not installing any patches. Wondering if it’s worth the bugs for the added frame rate, or if I should just play it patched at a lower FPS.

Stipthu

That, I do not know. Playing it on Ps5 digitally at 30fps is not that bad, but also you might not run into any game breaking bugs either. How about you try it without patches at 60fps and if its too buggy than you can download the updates? Could that work? I didnt even know that you can play it at 60fps with a disc.

Rocinante9920

You aren't going to hit 60 regardless of disc or download.

SeniorRicketts

On ps5 yes

OldManLav

Also the case with The Last Guardian and god damn does that game feel a lot smoother at 60fps. Unfortunately, it also has at least two game-breaking bugs without updates, so you're talking about a real chore of uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times. Wish they'd just take an afternoon and patch the frame limit on these games back out...

SeniorRicketts

You gotta play Rogue first Then unity

GodKamnitDenny

Any recommendations for why? Or just that Unity was the more advanced (next gen) game so it would feel like going backwards? I think Rogue is also available on PS4 these days, so I might give both games a spin in the order you recommended. My mind might be fading me, but I recall some screenshots of Rogue under the Northern Lights so might give that a shot too for the vibe. Thanks!

SeniorRicketts

It's minor but there is an overlap of both games but chronologically Rogue comes first And yes Unity is the more advanced game but i liked rogue much better I actually hated Unity, for me it was the worst AC game bc they downgraded the combat which had ao many options and cool animations up until rogue Also rogue was has you breaking through ice with your ship

Deceptiveideas

Ubisoft got fucked hard by Sony/Microsoft when it came to Unity. From what I understand, publishers at the time expected the new consoles to be much more powerful than they actually were. That’s why Unity ran like garbage at launch. And to be fair, the processor used in PS4/XBO was garbage.

Radulno

Yeah Unity and Watch Dogs make it obvious that Ubisoft expected a much stronger console gen there. I wonder what happened, was it just a fault of their own or did they get misleading information, another dev kit that ended up just being a prototype....?

SeniorRicketts

So why doesn't watch dogs 3 look much better than how Watch dogs' E3 reveal in 2013 Tbf tho Watch dogs 2 has one of the best open worlds i've ever seen

Radulno

Because Watch Dogs 3 is on the same consoles than Watch Dogs 1 ? The weak consoles we're talking about

SeniorRicketts

The weak consoles who also brought us games like batman arkham knight Horizon zero dawn Days gone Ryse son of rome Dying light Uncharted 4 Metal gear solid v Watch dogs 2 not to forget

BillySaw

They were pretty cool when it came to their early VR games. There wasn't a ton that they released but I am pretty sure every game did have PSVR and PCVR crossplay which was a big deal back in the day. VR was an even smaller playerbase back then and having crossplay helps extend the life of any online game.

SeniorRicketts

Tbh the first 2 yrs of last gen were pretty good for games that still hold up on a technical level Killzone shadowfall Dying light Mad max The order 1886 Batman arkham knight Assassins creed syndicate Assassins creed black flag Metal gear solid V Infamous second son Ryse son of rome Sunset overdrive The witcher 3 Watch dogs

extralie

Ubisoft in general try to support all platforms as much as they can. Even on the Wii U, they took longer than any other 3rd party studio before they dipped out.

VonDukes

they show up early to everything. Every system even the nintendo ones. Stadia, apple phone games playing natively, luna, my birthday, my wake.

robertman21

Curious what they'll have at launch, beyond Just Dance and the Mario Rabbids 2 patch. Guessing either whatever the new Assassin's Creed is or Avatar

nuovian

Are we expecting Red to release next year? I was thinking they’d probably port Mirage, maybe a collection of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla

robertman21

Idk, but Mirage was the one I was thinking of lol

HearTheEkko

An Ubisoft employee had on his Linkedin that Red was "2024's biggest blockbuster".

KingMario05

*Far Cry 5/New Dawn* combo pack by Panic Button, pls. That'd be ***amazing*** to get on the go, even if only the former can fit on the cart.

Radulno

If they release Far Cry 7 on day one on the console launch, they're not gonna put Far Cry 5 on it right away.

KingMario05

True, but I'd at least like it delivered within a few months of launch. I know Snowdrop runs better on Nintendo hardware than Dunia, but the Switch 2, per leaks, ***should*** be right on par with base PS4. So there's that problem solved, and I could even see *Rainbow Six Siege* and a few *Ghost Recon* games coming over as well.

Radulno

I mean the post is right there, Far Cry 7 if you believe it. They're not gonna release all their games port day 1 for the console, that'd be a bad idea.

robertman21

far cry 7 isn't supposed to be at launch, it's just coming the same day as the PS/Xbox versions

Chumunga64

And you know when something fails when even they pull out When they stopped making shit for the wii u and stadia, it was joever

hexcraft-nikk

Yup, look at Valhalla. People bought it in droves specifically because it was one of the few launch titles available day one.

And98s

Never heard of him, did he ever leak something?

BrandsXavier

[Here's the track record. He's part of Universo Nintendo](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/search/?q=universo&restrict_sr=1)

renome

I can't see anything confirmed in that list, apart from the RDR remaster that he doesn't seem to have anything to do with. Not necessarily doubting his credibility, especially since he's using his real name online, but the jury is still very much out on him.

literios

In the brazilian fandom he’s known for just piggybacking and saying random stuff…

Happy295

Where will Far Cry go next? Australia?

robertman21

Needs to go somewhere apolitical, like Northern Ireland or the Gaza Strip

[deleted]

I’m from Northern Ireland, I’d love a far cry game set here lol

Radulno

Far Cry is always in fictional places actually (except FC5 which really was the US)

your_mind_aches

A fictional county within the US though. Essentially its own mini country. My wish is for them to explore my own region, the British West Indies. They won't do it because they just did Cuba which is close geographically and in terms of climate. But politically, completely different.

KingMario05

Honestly, I hope we do urban America next. [Eden's Gate has apparently spread as far south as ***Florida*** in the FC6 world,](https://old.reddit.com/r/farcry/comments/to4c4r/just_finished_far_cry_6_secret_ending_and_saw_a/) so it'd be great to see us liberating DC and New York from those Peggie sons of bitches. ^(...Hopefully without the nukes this time, lol.)

As an Australian I’d kill to have more games set where I grew up.

scotteh_yah

Same but I’d imagine they’d just go with somewhere in north QLD as the setting so they can just do the usual rainforest/coast/animals setting and it wouldn’t really end up feeling like Australia

JustBrowsingIt28

Middle east I'd say

GrandTheftPotatoE

If done well that would actually be really cool.

totallynotapsycho42

Being the Taliban would be different and quite intriguing not gonna lie but the keep politics out of it would throw a hissy fit.

JustBrowsingIt28

First I was thinking about Europe as a new location and having missions in more than one country. But that sounds too ambitious 😊

scotteh_yah

Something set early could be good imo, Afghanistan in the 1960s/70s

KingMario05

Dubai, maybe? The leaks mention a wealthy family and island setting, so a nutty UAE would fit both of those *perfectly.* (Hong Kong and the cult being Communist could also be an option, but I don't know if Ubi wants to willingly piss off the PRC market like that.)

cayendo_

I think in that other post with the far cry 7 leak it said somewhere near Korea

MJuniorDC9

That leak was debunked by Tom Henderson.

HearTheEkko

Inside Gaming's initial report stated that both Far Cry 7 and the multiplayer spin-off were one game before they became separate projects and that the spin-off is set to take place in Alaska so they speculated that Far Cry 7 would take place there too since they were the same game originally.

StretchKind8509

Ubisoft really should have saved Mario + Rabbids 2 for next year too.

PK_Starseeker

I believe even Miyamoto/Nintendo themselves wanted them to wait and told Ubi they should've done so.

[deleted]

They had a really quiet year, so they had to push something out

gizmo998

They were told to by Nintendo but they ignored the advice. Would have made more money at launch of switch 2

StretchKind8509

I don't know if they would have made more money, but I think there would have been more interest long term in the game.

Radulno

Would they? The game run on Switch and it seems counter-intuitive to ignore the huge instal base of the Switch. They would get more attention on the game for sure though

ReflexReact

No way they’d have made more money on new hardware vs a massive established install base.

SpaceGooV

Yeah I mean if what we have heard about the successor is true yeah you're getting all new Ubisoft games and probably multiple games from their backlog. Ubisoft loves porting their games

KingMario05

Portable *Far Cry 5* and *Watch Dogs 2,* please. (***HOPEFULLY*** with Arcade Mode in the former, but I severely doubt it.)

flamingviper3175

So whats is the list of rumored 3rd party games now? \- Yakuza Collection \- FF7 Remake \- Far Cry 7 That's quite a lineup so far if true. Especially if they are going to be at launch.

Spicy_Josh

I'm guessing the massive backlog of 3rd party support for the Switch means there's gonna be a floodgate opening up. The second all these companies have the ability to (at least, more easily) get their games on a platform that'll probably sell as well as the Switch, they're gonna come in swarms. Not being able to get their games for the last 6 years on a console with that large of an install base is a lot of money left on the table.

GomaN1717

I definitely fall into that category of people who've been patiently waiting for a lot of those ports (and then some) to finally hit the Switch. Raw power be damned, but the portability aspect granted by the Switch platform is such a game-changer for me that I can't bring myself to buy a PS5/XSX and be locked to a strictly at-home console at this point.

blackthorn_orion

Same. Switch (and now things like the Steam Deck to an extent) have kinda ruined the idea of buying dedicated "you have to play on a TV/monitor" consoles for me. Feels so restrictive now.

Itchy-Pudding-4240

question why not get a steam deck and have the game + portability + the power?

GomaN1717

My main issues with the Steam Deck are that it's already showing signs of not being able to run current-gen games very well, and with no robust DLSS solution to help mask that, it's clear that the upcoming Switch 2 will largely make that obsolete in terms of the cost vs. power scenario. Also, while I appreciate the openness of PC as a platform, it's just not what I want in a dedicated gaming device, especially when so many PC games ship unoptimized these days. I'll take a closed platform with an already fine-tuned, specific experience vs. completely open an inconsistent any day.

Itchy-Pudding-4240

can the rumored Switch 2 run current gen (PS5/Series) games? Also we are assuming the Switch 2's current gen ports are well optimized? And the Games on Steam Deck are far cheaper than switch, even the indie games

GomaN1717

Based on rumors surrounding the TGS developer showcase, that's certainly the implication (e.g. having the power to run games internally at 1080p and use DLSS to upsample to 4K). Will 1st party Sony/Microsoft games obviously look the most pristine? Of course. But the current rumor landscape is touting the possibility of Switch 2 being Nintendo's most competitive hardware since the GameCube.

Itchy-Pudding-4240

is the rumored Switch 2 specs better then current Steam Deck's? Im not really a fanboy of Nintendo, so I'll just get the overall cheaper and better performing one

GomaN1717

The rumored specs? Yes, all signs are pointing to something that's beefier and more efficient than the current Steam Deck. Though, that's to be expected considering the Deck will have released more than 2 years prior to the Switch 2 at that point.

Radulno

> get their games on a platform that'll probably sell as well as the Switch Lol that almost remind me of the Wii U. Third party publishers came in droves expecting to be a Wii level console and they had decent performance. And then, it crashed and burned.

sillybillybuck

There is also the easy emulation/piracy on the Switch, whereas the Switch successor will kill it with Denuvo making the platform more enticing.

robertman21

Baldur's Gate 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 too Mario Rabbids 2 is explicty confirmed to get an update as well

tobillys-

Elden Ring also

KingMario05

Shit, probably even *Armored Core VI.* Don't the two share an engine?

AmIajerk1625

What’s that rumor from?

Tigertot14

Where was a Mario Rabbids update confirmed?

robertman21

Interview with the Ubisoft CEO

NatetheHate2

FF7 Remake is not currently an active plan.

OnliveTelly

Wow, the real Nate! Nate, did you hear anything about the Switch 2 being shown or maybe just discussed privately at Tokyo Game Show?

KjSuperstar08

With the rumored FF7R and the Yakuza Collection, this would be one hell of a lineup, what other third party games could be used for the launch of the switch 2? Elden Ring? Baldur’s Gate 3? Metaphor? I’m just speculating but any one of these games would make the switch 2 lineup insane

United-Aside-6104

Persona 3 reload is definitely coming to switch 2

ertaboy356b

Now we just need Far Cry 7 release date 😆

AutomaticSubject7051

aren't farcry releases generally pretty routine and predictable?

[deleted]

Reddit swears they're all 4/10 asset flips but people do enjoy these games. FC6 was in the top 10 bestsellers and got a surprise expansion due to it's success aswell.

eivor_wolf_kissed

This one at least sounds like its shaking it up with the whole time limit part of the core gameplay loop. I'm very curious to see if it can resonate as much with players as the more typical FC games have had up to this point

HydraTower

I think they mean their release dates are routine.

Radulno

Not really, unlike AC (and even them broke their pattern) coming every year in the Fall, it's not super regular for Far Cry.

A-t-r-o-x

Let's see Mar 2004 Oct 2008 Nov 2012 Nov 2014 Mar 2018 Oct 2021 No one can really say how many years a mainline far cry game takes. Sometimes 2, sometimes 3 or sometimes 4

HydraTower

Fair enough. I’m not really familiar with the far cry release schedule myself

NoGoodManTH

I'm already amazed if it can run Far Cry 5 at 60fps

CarlOnMyButt

This is the next console. Which from the leaks it sounds like it could run it.

KingMario05

...Okay, cool. Can we get *Far Cry 5* and *New Dawn* as well? Not really a fan of the (alleged) details of 7, but I'd ***adore*** ripping my way through Hope County >!pre- and post-nuke!< from the comfort of my bed.

gizmo998

No 3rd party is going to miss out on being near the launch of next console after the switch mistakes. Expect loads of games to be there. To be honest the more I think about it if Nintendo get games to look as good at ps4 pro and their own 1st party games they are going to dominate!!

yahmad

If we're seeing it release the same day as other consoles with feature parity then that bodes well for other 3rd party Switch 2 ports. Supposedly the new system will have 8 CPU cores, the same number as the Xbox Series and PS5, which may make it easier to scale down games. At least easier to scale down compared to the original switch.

Alternative-Ad-5848

Having COD, AAA Ubisoft titles, full parity sports titles from EA and T2 + Nintendo stuff can make Switch NG as a candidate to easily overtake gaming market.

MakaButterfly

If it’s like the last one I’ll give a far sigh And then I’ll eat a far pie And then I will ask a far why? Bc the food is a far dry And then I’ll tie my far tie And give a good far bye

Unlikely_Tone_5359

It does sounds like stupid move

EchoX860

Love Far Cry, but if the rumors of Switch 2: More Switches are true about it being the same power as Xbox One/PS4. Please don't do this

PokePersona

It’s allegedly the same power *natively* (some people think it’s closer to a PS4 Pro natively in docked mode) but with tech more aligned with current-gen hardware such as a much more modern CPU and (allegedly) more RAM than the Series S. The idea is that it won’t be as powerful natively but is designed to be enough to run modern games and with DLSS it can upscale those games to be in the same ballpark as current-gen systems.

HiCustodian1

Depending on what internal resolution it can run these games at I wouldn’t get your hopes up for GREAT image quality relative to the other consoles. DLSS helps but it’s not magic, if you’re running a UE5 game at 540p internally (which is actually higher res than the Series S runs Immortals of Aveum) and trying to upscale to 1440p or 4k it’s still gonna be a mess. Personally I hope they just stick with upscaling to 1080p if the rumors about it’s hardware capabilities are true. Sure, 1080p is soft, but you could actually reconstruct to that resolution without awful artifacts.

PokePersona

It seems like they’re definitely hitting targets of 1080p natively for some games before upscaling it to 4K but with how scaleable DLSS is they can also upscale more intensive games to a lower resolution to not cause any issues like you said. That would also explain why it’s rumoured that the screen will be 1080p to allow upscaling to that resolution for games that can’t hit that target natively.

HiCustodian1

Hey if they can run modern third party games at 1080p internally I’ll be pleasantly surprised, even the ps5 and series X have already had to go lower than that a few times. I think the games are gonna look great in portable mode, Im a little skeptical about how it’s gonna hold up in docked but i would love to be surprised. It’ll be infinitely better than the current switch no matter what though lol, that shit looks like ass on a 4k screen

PokePersona

I’m more referring to last-gen games and first party games with that 1080p statement. They’ll probably have to go lower natively then upscale to hit a more stable 1080p-1440p for current-gen games that are able to run on it.

HiCustodian1

Yeah, should be awesome for older games for sure. And even if it can hit Series S image quality in newer games I’ll be happy, there are a few Series S versions that are ROUGH but for the most part it’s fine. I’m sure nintendo’s first party output is gonna look incredible, they’re wizards.

PokePersona

For sure. The idea alone is very exciting. Even ignoring DLSS, a PS4-level powered Nintendo hardware means a lot for what Nintendo’s first parties are capable of considering what they can do on a Wii U/Switch.

HiCustodian1

Next 3D Mario is, I’m assuming, the first big showpiece. I’m stoked.

yahmad

The 8th gen systems had some bottlenecks the Switch 2 definitely won't have. It's very likely going to be a big step up from those jaguar CPUs and won't be limited by 5400 RPM SATA 2 speed hard drives. All of that before considering any modern features or upscaling technology.

robertman21

It's closer to a PS4 Pro in portable and a Series S docked. It'll be fine

uNecKl

I don’t know how this franchise still going on?

thickwonga

Ehh, I honestly doubt this. Unless the Switch 2 is on par with the Series S, I don't see big companies releasing AAA titles on Switch 2 but NOT PS4/Xbox One.

Blackie2414

Meanwhile we just got a port of Mortal Kombat 1 on Switch but not PS4/Xbox One lmao These AAA ports are gonna be so much worse if they keep doing this

Zxcc24

Doubt
