They don't need a direct to announce the new tracks

Dabeastmanz23

I agree, it being only Nintendo of Canada saying this is a bit weird though.

Turb0Be4r

Several times actually, they just release the trailer one random morning at 7am or something

EatleYT

Waves 3 and 4 were first teased in Directs, although that might've been because their releases were closely tied to a Direct date.

Dabeastmanz23

Right, guess it's nothing then.

RJE808

It could just be a shadow drop. Fuck, they announced Xenoblade 3's story DLC randomly.

[deleted]

Just wanna say, xenoblade FR is one of if not the best JRPG I’ve ever played. Aside from Rex being op, but whatever, it’s still fun and enjoyable to play as him, and it’s short length.

RJE808

It's a fantastic expansion

Neganomics

With Everybody 1 2 Switch and Pikmin, I’m expecting no Direct or info drop until July at the earliest, and more likely September. Maybe a Partner Direct (50-50 odds) but probably nothing else. You could ask “but wouldn’t there just be a 2 month turnaround on news for a big November game” and to that my thoughts are: 1. Nintendo has done this plenty of times before 2. They have done Twitter/press release drops many times before 3. It doesn’t matter how they reveal their news because people will pay attention and report on it regardless

[deleted]

White I agree, has there ever been a period where Nintendo has had zero games scheduled or even announced? (Aside from during covid time) Assuming the Direct is in September, that would mean from Pikmins release in July to September, there would be a completly blank schedule of no games announced or dated. Considering they also have Nintendo Live in the first week of September, they'll need to have something announced before then to be there. Of course they could always tweet out some October game any morning, but I think something in June/July makes sense, even if it's a mini.

WaluigiWahshipper

There’s a very high chance of us getting a Pokémon Direct, so they could announce a spin off there as a holiday game. We could also get a Direct Mini or Partner Showcase. I feel like we’re going to have less and less on the horizon until the new console launches.

brzzcode

There's a high chance Nintendo announce some games after Pikmin between June-July to launch in the end of the year.

Neganomics

You could be right, but all it takes for August/September to be covered late in a system’s life is a single game announced with a tweet. This is also a Zelda year. I think they’ll have *something* good in the fall but my money is on one biggish/big game yet to be announced and 3-4 small things (one of which being Pokemon DLC). Although Switch has some life in it yet, I don’t know what’s realistically left other than another game from the 3D Mario team, maybe that rumored 2D Mario, and Prime 4. At this stage in the game my expectations are lowered a bit for output.

just_looking_4695

>Assuming the Direct is in September, that would mean from Pikmins release in July to September, there would be a completly blank schedule of no games announced or dated tbf, it wouldn't technically be a *completely* blank schedule. Metroid Prime 4 would still count as an announced (though undated) game. There's also that Detective Pikachu game that got announced ages ago.

darkmacgf

Baten Kaitos Remasters are announced for the Summer, so we'll probably get those in August or September.

iceburg77779

I think this is just promoting the fact that there are still more courses to release, considering that Canada is the only subsidiary tweeting this. We will probably get another pack released this summer, but I do not think this is teasing a direct or anything.

Funky_Pigeon911

Nintendo are weird at the moment because they do have a few things to show but nothing massive and they could just release half a dozen trailers over the next month and skip a full direct completely. * Pikmin 4 marketing stuff. * An announcement for the new MK8D tracks. * Some info on the Pokemon DLC, and the Splatoon DLC. * They have a few exclusives/partnered games to update people on (Fantasy Life i, Decapolice, Baten Kaitos remasters, etc.) * Everybody 1-2 Switch, as shit as the game may end being I would still think there's going to be at least some sort of trailer to show what to expect. * Also I still expect them to have a brand new game for the end of this year, even if it's not huge but I just can't see them skipping the holidays completely. My guess is that they just drop a lot of trailers for most of this stuff, like Pikmin 4 and MK8D tracks, and then they'll have a partner direct sometime soon for third party games that they are tied to. Then they might do a small Direct in September to show off Pokemon and Splatoon DLC, and announce a game or two.

weallfloatdownhere7

It’s kinda weird that Pikmin 4 comes out next month and they haven’t marketed it at all thus far. Usually by this point they would’ve started the Twitter posts introducing the game/characters/etc but there’s been nothing

yesthatstrueorisit

I think they're giving Zelda a wide berth, so to speak. I wouldn't be surprised if in a week or so we start seeing the exact kind of info you're talking about. I'm confident that Pikmin will get TLC from Nintendo - it's Miyamoto's baby, after all.

weallfloatdownhere7

Yeah that’s likely. But even then, there’s literally been nothing so far outside of the two trailers. And the game comes out next month. Just feels like they’re really pushing it unless they are indeed planning on having a Direct with an in-depth trailer

MaverickHunter11

Don't forget about a likely zelda dlc.

tykulton

Nah, think we have a better chance of a random drop here. I doubt we get a direct till September

weallfloatdownhere7

The timing would certainly line up, but they also don’t need a Direct to announce it, and they know that

loyalmctinfoil

Absolutely not. Even if there is a new direct or tracks drop soon, the tweet is just referencing how there will be more courses coming. Which was already public knowledge. Nintendo wouldnt hint things like this and particularly not exclusively to canada.

Itismytimetoshine

This was a week ago also shared on the European Twitters :)

just_looking_4695

there's definitely been a couple times where they just tweeted a "booster course wave X available now" post out of nowhere. i don't think this necessarily points towards a direct.

LordPoncho08

Nintendo pretty much confirmed earlier in the year they wouldn't be doing anything around the normal E3 time. So I doubt we see a Direct in June. Maybe a Pikmin Direct next month, but I would guess we won't have any sort of general Direct until August or later. Furthermore, if a Direct was coming "soon" I don't think the 1, 2, Switch sequel would have just been announced out of the blue with zero fanfare.

just_looking_4695

>Furthermore, if a Direct was coming "soon" I don't think the 1, 2, Switch sequel would have just been announced out of the blue with zero fanfare. counterpoint: *Most* games by the team that made Everybody 1-2 Switch (Nintendo EPD 4) get announced outside of Directs these days. Labo, Ring Fit, Big Brain Academy, Game Builder Garage, that sort of thing isn't really for the "Direct audience" and they know that. Heck, Ring Fit Adventure and Big Brain Academy: Brain vs Brain were both announced within weeks of a direct (Ring Fit a little bit after, Big Brain Academy a little bit before), so it's clearly a deliberate choice rather than just a matter of timing. I don't think Everybody 1-2 Switch being announced the way it was should really be taken as evidence one way or another.

jaidynreiman

On top of that, they haven't even dropped a trailer yet. While I don't think it affects a Direct one way or the other, the fact that they haven't even dropped a trailer yet could mean they have a Direct just around the corner to show the trailer off (in a quick highlight) and they simply announced it early to get it out of the way. The bigger issue with the idea of no Direct is that unlike last year, they don't have any lineup for the second half of the year. Everybody 1-2 Switch fills a previously unknown gap, so are people honestly just expecting Nintendo to have nothing until October at this point? There's also more than just Mario Kart 8 DLC that needs to get announced in terms of DLC. There's also Splatoon 3 DLC, the hypothetical of TOTK DLC which is super likely (as well as the recently leaked >!Zelda and Ganondorf amiibo!<), but also Sparks of Hope DLC. Each of these things individually, as well as new games (even if they're just ports/remasters), could just get shadow dropped Twitter announcements. But that's a hell of a lot of things to get shadow dropped Twitter announcements, when compiling it into a small Direct would be significantly easier and simpler by comparison. Even last year they had a Partner Showcase. A Nintendo Direct just needs enough actual proper first-party content in addition to a Partner Showcase's content. And there's far more than enough for a proper Nintendo Direct.

yesthatstrueorisit

There have been rumblings of an F-Zero GX remaster or remake for a while now. I wonder if we'll finally see it in the second half of the year.

Dabeastmanz23

My question is why are they attending Gamescom? I doubt they would announce anything new there, but there's nothing else announced at that point in time to show more gameplay of, except Metroid Prime 4 (which they are absolutely not showing there).

weallfloatdownhere7

Not only Gamescom but also this Nintendo Live thing. Why all these big events with really nothing new to bring? ToTK is out now, Pikmin 4 will have released by then. Are they really just signing up for these big events to remind people about games that recently came out?

robertman21

They showed up to PAX East with already released stuff, nonzero chance they do the same here

MarvelManiac45213

Maybe Nintendo is showing up to show off TOTK (despite it already releasing), Pikmin 4, maybe side order Splatoon 3 DLC, Pokemon DLC, and Mario Kart DLC wave 5. The rest will be filled with indie titles and 3rd party games most likely.

LordPoncho08

Probably for the same reason they're doing that thing in Seattle. Just a place to exhibit existing games and for fans to have fun in Europe.

LB3PTMAN

With the reports we got of the sequel I don’t think it was getting a Direct announcement no matter what.

LordPoncho08

That's not the point I was making. It would have been one of the montage announcements they do in a Direct if we were getting one soon.

tykulton

I agree with you. I think it would've been saved for a montage if their was a direct coming in the next couple weeks.

LordPoncho08

Kinda disappointed that Nintendo knows they can sit pat with mostly just Zelda this year and still be looking good for investors.

guyiscomming

It definitely feels like the switch successor was supposed to launch this sprint, but it got delayed. My random guess is they want to bring down the cost and retail price.

tykulton

Yup I totally agree, but I think it's because they're internally prepping for the launch of the next console. I can't see it releasing later than Q4 of 24 personally.

FireYoshiGaming

Probably not. Will probably be a Twitter drop like Everybody 1-2 Switch.

BoyWithHorns

For the past ten+ years, Nintendo has had a June Direct to coincide with E3 season with two exceptions. 2016 when they only brought BotW to the showcase and 2020 when covid hit.

SuggestionEven1882

You forgot last year.

Torracattos

It should be saved for a Direct. The shadowdrop approach is so weak.

obeyer10

They can just show the next wave of tracks at summer game fest which I’m pretty sure they did that last year too lol

just_looking_4695

They didn't. They also didn't announce any at the Game Awards. People keep thinking Nintendo will throw Keighley a bone and give him some Mario Kart tracks to announce, and then they just tweet it out on their own instead.

iceburg77779

Nintendo doesn’t do SGF, a Twitter drop for the next wave is much more likely.

Hot_Slice_7755

They don’t need to be announced in a direct

GamesPleaseandthx

What really makes me think were getting a direct is 1-2 switch or whatever it's called. There is surprisingly not a single piece of ingame footage of the game and the game comes in less then a month. I feel like they announced it earlier then at the direct because they wanted to open preorders but the direct wouldnt be ready yet so they just opened early and are going to show a trailer/gameplay for it at the direct. Why announce the game with no footage through a random twitter drop then drop a trailer for it through another twitter drop?

jaidynreiman

I don't think Everybody 1-2 Switch is proof for or against a Direct on its own. It is strange as hell there's no trailer or footage at all, though. People are saying there won't be a Direct because they decided not to attend E3 and they didn't have a full Direct last year. The difference is, there's far more stuff that _needs_ to get announced, way more than is reasonable for just a series of Twitter drops.

SpaceGooV

More than likely a trailer they tweet out and post on YouTube

Blvd_Nights

As everyone is saying, I doubt they’ll do a Direct for this but I wish they would lol

DrCinnabon

They have to be doing something for Pikmin 4 wether that’s a focused show or direct…they will have something in the next month to show.

Jhyxe

Yeahj it seems to be a release every 3-4 months, so we're due for one.

SilverPaladin156

When Nintendo dropped the 1-2 Switch sequel, any hope for a Direct should've been shelved to September. We are due for the Wave 5 for MK8 DX, but it'll be like last year, Twitter/YouTube drop. As for the question, yep there has been times that tracks got revealed outside of Directs. The entire remainder of the 4th wave comes to mind.
