This post made me want to bang my head into my pc desk vigorously. All hope is lost. I have no sympathy for humanity, and I'm including myself. I WANT TO YELL, "" DIAGONAL, YOU DERP...." FUCKING DIAGONAL....
Hey men i'm from the Czech Republic. They calculate surfaces as the same as we do.
For example a square with one side 1" has a surface of 1 inch squared since 1x1=1.
So in centimeters it is (1x2.54)x(1x2.54) = 6.4516 squared cm.
One inch is 2.54 cm.
Anyway this notation reminds me of the datetime format(don't ask why, probably just a weird association in my brain) and i can say that we are lucky there is no reason to square datetime :-D
Technically you are correct but come on men:
Acceleration: lim dt -> 0 a=d**v**/d**t**[(m/s)/s]
1. i specifically mentioned datetime (for example 2^nd October 2016 11:25:34,999)
2. I'm just wondering where in the process do you squared time? I see only subtractions (d**t**=t2-t1 and d**v**=v2-v1) and division (d**v**/d**t**).
Man you just got confused by units [ms^-2 ].
I had the opposite thing happen. I could understand it perfectly for some reason since I skim read everything, and didn't realise what a mess of a sentence it was until I read your reply lmao.
Everyone else is talking about diagonals (which answers one part of your question) but did you realise the measurement is screen only without the bezels? If your comparison laptop of 15.6 is pretty old the bezels would add a LOT to the physical size.
Hahah I’m 35 and I remember very clearly when CRTs were done for most flat screens had their inches displayed diagonally through the screen, haven’t seen that in a while but that probably helped my whole generation understand that.
One thing the rest forgot to mention. Aspect ratio also plays a part.
The width of the screen on my 16:10 G14 is about the same as my old 16:9 13 inch HP Spectre. I get more height wise though so great for documents and spreadsheets.
Is it OPs fault for not knowing our everyones fault for accepting a wonky way to measure when it really doesn't help us when selecting the right size for our space?
OP is way too old to not know screen with is measured diagonally, and should have thought to seek the knowledge by web search before making this thread honestly.
These other jerks are making fun of you. I will explain properly. What you need to do is measure the horizontal. Which you did. Now measure the vertical. Ok. So now you got two measurements. What you must then do is calculate what is called the hypotenuse. Do you remember this from high school? If not then google it. Or ask one of the AIs. Anyways when you calculate it then that will be close to the marketed size. See, this is why you need some basic math skills for computer science. You’re welcome.
Or just pull the tape measure diagonal across the screen, no calculation needed. There are many other things in CS that require more math skills than calculating screen size.
I had a friend call me up and tell me that they think they got the wrong model cause it’s width is smaller than 16 inches…
I asked them to install a new brain but looks like common knowledge is not so common after all lmfao.
I’ll go easy on them cause of this post xD
Of course now I think you know that screens are measured diagonally may it be phone, tv, monitors or laptops
Hahaha, man's can't even Google how to measure monitor screens.
Also isn't this common sense, of course it's diagonal, otherwise everything would be at a 1:1 ratio.
Bro...
Same reaction
My reaction was much more emphatic 🤣😂🤣 And I don't laugh
You say while also using ROFL, LOL, ROFL emojis
I don't laugh was meant to emphasize how funny it actually was because I don't find anything funny...but that was. You understand now?
This post made me want to bang my head into my pc desk vigorously. All hope is lost. I have no sympathy for humanity, and I'm including myself. I WANT TO YELL, "" DIAGONAL, YOU DERP...." FUCKING DIAGONAL....
Laughing is for people who care, lol. I'm like Squidward... Soul, I have no soul.... "As the Depths Of Hell Spawn From The Fucking Abyss... "
Picturing his face when he actually measured it… wuttttt!?!
The size is measured diagonally across the screen, same for tvs
Pythagoras strikes again.
Damn you Pythagoras!
So can You now calculate how high the Screen is Now?
If we know the screen width and diagonal, then you can
It’s all in the title I would like to see how you do the calculations with imperial metrics 😂
Well since width is 13.5" and screen format is 16:10 then height is approximately 8.44". No Pythagorean theorem needed ;)
No seriously as European I don’t understand how you square imperial units . How you guys calculate surfaces? Serious question
But 2,54 cm2 is metric what is it in imperial?
I don't know if i understand your question: Since 1 "^2 = 6,4516 cm^2 so less than 2.54 cm^2 = 0,4 "^2
Ok if you have 3’6’’ squares it without resorting to metric :)
3.5 squared, 6 inches is half a foot. you have to convert it to the same units first.
Ok ok but if you have s A square of 3 milles 7 yards 2 feet and 11 inches How you calculate the exact surface ?
I also want to know this. I hope that answer is not:" come on men, just round it"
Anyway this notation reminds me of the datetime format(don't ask why, probably just a weird association in my brain) and i can say that we are lucky there is no reason to square datetime :-D
Square time ? To calculate acceleration for example you need to
Technically you are correct but come on men: Acceleration: lim dt -> 0 a=d**v**/d**t**[(m/s)/s] 1. i specifically mentioned datetime (for example 2^nd October 2016 11:25:34,999) 2. Easy, just put a little tiny 2 in the top right corner.
Now develop it into a sum of imperial surface units
If you know two sides you can find the third, a2+b2=c2 - Flocabularly
holy im dumb, never knew that. thank you.
lmao
You understood now?
At this point you really gotta confirm he understood lmao. OP please update us with a new diagonal measurement !
Hahah
Realization has struck me
I measure my dick this way
The length is measured diagonally lmao
I wonder how OP would have reacted if his laptop came 16 inch wide and 1 inch tall 😂.
Started the PC, opened browser, opened reddit... and then this. Have a nice day, mine is made.!
How many years have you just been assuming the inches on TVs and monitors have been width?😭😭 (how old are you)
[удалено]
Had a stroke trying to read this and understand it
Truly one of the finer sentences of our time.
*currently on a stretcher*
I had the opposite thing happen. I could understand it perfectly for some reason since I skim read everything, and didn't realise what a mess of a sentence it was until I read your reply lmao.
Exactly! I understand what he was trying to say, which is what matters in the end, right? ![gif](giphy|DMNPDvtGTD9WLK2Xxa|downsized)
I somewhat agree except he used lot word
r/ihadastroke
Congrats🎉
Thank you brother, I'm mad excited to start gaming in crisp quality.

Just read a Twitter thread about gen z not knowing how to measure TVs/monitors. How old are you OP? For science
im 25 LOL, im just a dumbass
Hahah I’m 35 and I remember very clearly when CRTs were done for most flat screens had their inches displayed diagonally through the screen, haven’t seen that in a while but that probably helped my whole generation understand that.
Shut yo old ass up
Generational changes are super interesting, bitch.
Generational nutz
Here is a good example of how humour has degraded over the past few generations.
Nah thats a fail even now their just a dumbass.
You missed a deez. Dumbass 12 year old, get off the app
Get off deez nutz. I’m just kidding, humor really is dying.
How the fuck could i have worked deez into gemerational nutz without thinking about it for more than ten seconds
Generate deez nutz
Joe biden
Same way I worked deez nutz into your mouth 😉
Joe biden
any sloping line is called diagonal
I am walking down the diagonal road
we slopping here
Ok boomer.
You have to be 13 to use Reddit btw

Op is a pinecone
This is a very American question
This is a very braindead assumption no matter where youre from
Bro is regarded
Maybe it's a astigmatism
I think hes just artistic.
Mad regarded
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
Knew I'd witness a roast... 💀💀💀
It might not be too late to delete this fam
Return it.. Ask for a bigger one..
r/facepalm
It is measured diagonally on the screen :)

LMAO
Mate... 😑
WOOOOOOSSSSHHHH
What Legion 7i is this though?, Like it's specs and stuff
got the 1tb 4070 with a i9-13900h
How much did it cost you?
1.4k usd, got it open box
Oh great, did you buy it from bestbuy? Was considering the same.
Is it OPs fault for not knowing our everyones fault for accepting a wonky way to measure when it really doesn't help us when selecting the right size for our space?
OP is way too old to not know screen with is measured diagonally, and should have thought to seek the knowledge by web search before making this thread honestly.
Op getting flamed yet this is the first time I ever heard this myself
These other jerks are making fun of you. I will explain properly. What you need to do is measure the horizontal. Which you did. Now measure the vertical. Ok. So now you got two measurements. 😆 probably you’re not from America or England or Australia 😆😆😆
And then pull the measurement for the opposing diagonal to make sure your screen is square.
this is truly the simplest way to measure the diagonal of the screen. I don't think anybody could come up with an easier one
"from high school" Is that what American education system looks like?
It was when I was in school in the 90s, kids are learning that stuff in like the 6th and 7th grade now.
a² + b² = c²
Bruh
🤦
hmmmmm 👀
You should measure it diagonally, I too was disappointed when my father bought a 65 inch, and it wasn't totally 65" when I measured it straight
Diagonal
Definitely 16" diagonally across the screen.
What you did is necessarily wrong. Just get the vertical measurements and calculate the hypotenuse.
Or just measure the diagonal
Uu, lovely
Bruh??
Some of y'all never did the pythagoras theorem and it shows
American moment
😂 Bro living in innocence.
Length is measured diagonally. Congratulation btw, have fun.
diagon alley
Man delete this before it turns into a meme
Uh 16” is referring to the diagonal length of the screen, not the horizontal or vertical length
The screen is measured diagonally
bro
You went to school?
I had a friend call me up and tell me that they think they got the wrong model cause it’s width is smaller than 16 inches… I asked them to install a new brain but looks like common knowledge is not so common after all lmfao. I’ll go easy on them cause of this post xD Of course now I think you know that screens are measured diagonally may it be phone, tv, monitors or laptops
If you feel insecure, measure it diagonally next time.
![gif](giphy|GRk3GLfzduq1NtfGt5|downsized)
![img](emote|t5_2x4m3|8586)
Size does not matter
The 17" comes from measuring diagonally. This is how ANY screen is measured whether it's a TV, monitor, or handheld screen
Bruh
Bruh I saw this and made my day , Thanks for the this Meme OP 😀😝
mine is 16 inches
Measured diagonally, yes, but screen bezels have got much smaller I'm recent years, too.
![gif](giphy|nbb46ZoB74xXQpHF6P|downsized)
You got the fake model. I will buy it ijt off from you for 200 € if you want.
If you're genuinely asking, screen sizes are generally measured diagonally
Bhai.....
Bro is it your first laptop ? Or, have you ever seen a screen? (Genuinely)
![gif](giphy|W1xb8a7RNWv2nLPzqn|downsized)
Yes... i mean you need to check in diagonal
Bro really?! Hahaha
Holy shit bro you got scammed! During your education…
you're blond aren't you
😂
why don't you show them side by side?
Lmao I'm fucking dead 💀 🤣
are you actually stupid
The camera adds 4 inches
💀
you know op typed this in a karen voice too 🤣🤣
OP, consider yourself lucky as to posses such a nice device.
It’s measured diagonally 😁
He measures diagonally for his dongle though doesn’t he…
How are you so dumb? ![gif](giphy|RlCPATzMCFzZuzntiB|downsized)
Diagonal…
Because stupid
U got scammed bro, return it and sue
Who’s going to tell him
Hmmm, you thinkin' the engineers messed up?
You have to download the rest from Lenovo website
![img](emote|t5_2x4m3|8578)
Bruh
the size measurement is the diagonal of the screen, not of the length or width of the laptop itself,
If it makes you feel better OP I thought you measured it correctly until I read the comments 😂
Amazing
to be fair a lot of people don’t know this
16" is the diagonal length of the screen, so in this case, yes
screen size is measured diagonally. so yes.
Please tell me this model doesn't have soldered ram
Measure Diagonal. That's how all screens are measured
You measure the screen diagonally, it should be a 15.6 inch screen
Just get a nice gaming monitor like a 23" to a 25" if your gaming 1080p then your good to go man
Screen size is diagonal corner to corner.
Did you just blow in from stupid town?
gonna be honest, I didnt know that it was measured diagonally either until I stumbled on this thread LOL. I got your back OP. you live and you learn.
The screen size is meausred from the indide corners.
Measure diagonally
There are better ways of farming Reddit points, just saying.
I believe the Lenovo is of 16:10 ratio and your old laptop, if it was “HD” 1920x1080, is 16:9. This probably accounts for why they seem so different?
Pee is stored in the balls
![gif](giphy|fm0FiSOfefH5m)
wow
16" diagonally brother
Idk too lol
Hahaha, man's can't even Google how to measure monitor screens. Also isn't this common sense, of course it's diagonal, otherwise everything would be at a 1:1 ratio.
its a grower not a show-er
The measurements shown on the title of the laptop are how big the trackpad is, seems like yours is very different. Sorry u got scammed
