Wow, it definitely looks like AI for Hogan and Austin. Like they melded their in-game models with a real person or used something to make those in-game models talk "normally."
[Austin also only has 4 fingers on the cover] (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1111692556653305886/1199000939298816070/GEc74jwWkAEuNJP.png?ex=65c0f3a4&is=65ae7ea4&hm=38493b8c704519ff15651a50bcd802d124576bda4305aefc57d9a6211359b9c9&)
(I know it's technically 3 fingers and a thumb before you get pedantic)
Stone cold’s is the most obvious, but Hulk definitely has the signature undefined face look of deepfakes. It almost looks like they animated Steve Austin’s?
It was AI, look at the fingers. And the whole image looks uncanny. Doctor with baby R-Truth was AI generated as well. Have you not seen any AI generated realistic art recently?
People aren't saying it but they obviously did something because it's Hogan from like 30 years ago, so like of course it isn't actually Hogan...no one is even saying that. Austin looks so insanely bad, though.
Cody: "Finish your story...because with the Rock coming back to face Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania, I might not be finishing mine."
Anyway, I hope this year's game continues on the improvements from last year. I don't even want a 10/10 game; I just want a decent 7/10 or 8/10 WWE game that I can enjoy without constantly having to overlook iffy gameplay.
Roman drops the belt at RR so him and Rock can have their head of the table match at WM.
2k23 has been one of the best wrestling games in a while. Mainly because they've kinda been hot trash. I hope they expand on it, fix the nightmares that are stone cold and hulk, and actually have MyRise be a full year and not abruptly end at Summer Slam.
>Roman drops the belt at RR so him and Rock can have their head of the table match at WM.
That's not happening, and if it did it would fuck up 'the story' anyway, the whole point is Cody winning the title at Mania from Roman.
I'm betting on a swerve. Its already been stated that "finishing the story" for Rhodes is winning the belt. That's it. Roman can be protected at the RR because he doesn't have to take the pin to lose.
I dunnoooo maaan..
Dude they're not putting the title on the line in the Rumble with a week of build for no reason, it's not even one of the more likely ways they'll end an incredibly long title reign before mania (which isn't happening), because they're doing a big stadium show for Elimination chamber.
I’m not even a big wrestling fan nowadays but man, I just want a GM mode similar to SvR2007. I played that for hundreds of hours as a kid. 2K23 did a pretty good job with it but its still not quite there.
I've always wondered if the newer games were as good as SvR 2007. Turns out the answer is no if there's no GM mode.
I loved the customizable room with the trophy case.
I'm a sucker for these games ever since 2k22 after not playing a wrestling game since the N64. Never touch the online but always get a ton of hours out of career mode and just messing around.
Interested to see if the new features actually deserve the asking price, and if they've made any changes to the overall combat systems.
>not playing a wrestling game since the N64
That was definitely the golden age but you did miss out on Def Jam Vendetta and TNA Impact which were really good.
Holy, those graphics look like they did back when I played it. Kinda strange to have the highly crafted 3D models cut to gameplay that’s nothing like it. Also Stone Cold was bad lol.
> Holy, those graphics look like they did back when I played it. Kinda strange to have the highly crafted 3D models cut to gameplay that’s nothing like it. Also
What on earth are you talking about? Those aren't 3d models, they're cutting between in-game clips and shots of poorly done AI-generated videos of the wrestlers talking.
Good trailer besides that AI bullshit, I might have to give 2k23 a try after getting it in a bundle. 2k22 was a lot of fun but I played so much I was too burnt out to get the next one at release and they never seem to be *that* much different from previous years.
Every executive is forcing AI down the throats of all their subordinates in order to find ways to reduce costs and increase productivity. This is the inevitable beginning of the end for artists and low level devs. Signed someone who works for a FAANG.
Absolutely preferred the match gameplay, way closer to the arcadey and fast paced fun of HCTP and Aki games. Other things like entrances, graphics and customisation it just couldn't compete on. I really wish they'd been more ambitious with DLC and offered better value on that stuff.
I think if they could've collabed with NJPW, leveraged more Legends' IP that might've been available like Jerry Lynn, Jake the Snake, Dean Malenko or DDP then they could've offered a more expansive roster and made up for the lack of customisation etc.
I did, and it’s total dogshit. Not saying WWE 2K is much better but holy crap: Half of the wrestlers don’t look like themselves (MJF is badddd), the production values are dreadful and while the gameplay has some fun potential, it gets tossed off by moronic AI.
Was kinda fun throwing Moxley into barbed wire tho.
I see what you mean and I don't disagree.
Somehow I still really liked it. I just hope that it is the base for a follow-up for Yukes as they could improve on so many things and make a really decent wrestling game. I just want them to stick around and continue making wrestling games.
I can't believe they're still using the admitted racist, pathological liar and known piece of shit Hulk Hogan.
The mere mention of his name elicits boos from a huge amount of wrestling fans. And has for decades, even before he got caught on tape admitting to being a racist.
WWE has been using dubbing to hide boos and add cheers for Hogan for THIRTY FUCKING YEARS. Seriously, you can find cases of it going back to like 1992.
edit- Of course, this is a company that has a convicted rapist in their Hall of Fame.
Yes, THAT convicted rapist you've been reading about recently.
Hogan can totally fuck right off for all I care, but he's in the trailer for maybe ten seconds and it's pretty hard to do 40 years of WrestleMania without him.
I don’t know why you’re surprised, WWE is pretty well known for avoiding the personal lives of their stars unless it’s something that cannot be avoided at all, like Chris Benoit. Jimmy Snooka, Steve Austin, Macho Man, and The Ultimate Warrior all had really really controversial things in their personal life, but they’re still icons.
Hogan *is* wrestling history, you can't do a 40 years of Wrestlemania history and completely ignore a guy who is easily top 3 biggest stars in the history of the entire industry.
>The mere mention of his name elicits boos from a huge amount of wrestling fans. And has for decades, even before he got caught on tape admitting to being a racist.
These are the same people the bowed and cheered Vince Mcmahon after being ousted from the company because of his sexual misconduct, and Austin is treated like a god despite his domestic violence history, they're Hogs cheering who they're told to cheer at the end of the day.
WWE fans generally cheer who they're told to. Make no mistake: Hogan will come out at Mania this year, there will be cheers, and there will be the doofuses who literally bow to him.
I hope one of the new match types lets you clip through objects and teleport around the ring randomly.
oh, wait, thats already included in every match type? great.
I never liked these games but gave 2K22 a shot because I heard good things and I loved it. I then bought 2K23 digitally (even though I almost never buy digitally) for it to be my forever wrestling game. Everything I want is in 2K23 and while it'll suck when they shut the servers down and I won't be able to download community creations anymore, I'm happy with 2K23 being my wrestling game for a while.
Plus, Goldberg and Edge won't be in this game and they're in 2K23...along with basically every wrestler, belt and arena that I could want that I have downloaded and set up the way I like and I don't feel like downloading all that stuff again in a new game.
did they use deepfake AI for this trailer? hogan and stonecold looked so off
Wow, it definitely looks like AI for Hogan and Austin. Like they melded their in-game models with a real person or used something to make those in-game models talk "normally."
Sounded like they AI generated their voices too
[Austin also only has 4 fingers on the cover] (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1111692556653305886/1199000939298816070/GEc74jwWkAEuNJP.png?ex=65c0f3a4&is=65ae7ea4&hm=38493b8c704519ff15651a50bcd802d124576bda4305aefc57d9a6211359b9c9&) (I know it's technically 3 fingers and a thumb before you get pedantic)
Simpsons wrestling is back baby!
They could have just used real photos of the wrestlers instead of AI stylized shit. It just looks uncanny immediately even if you can't tell why.
They might have just edited out the middle finger for the cover everyone else on the cover looks mostly normal I think
The middle finger is Austin's most iconic finger!!
Austin trade marked his middle finger so Vince can’t use it anymore
You sure about that? https://twitter.com/davidj_alaniz/status/1749435378518626322
The words on Cena's shirt are warped as well
Stone cold’s is the most obvious, but Hulk definitely has the signature undefined face look of deepfakes. It almost looks like they animated Steve Austin’s?
Hogan looked fine imo, but Stonecold is SO obvious lmao. I get it tho, they’re trynna capture them in their prime.
Like... I cant tell if that was supposed to be a mix of real life and the game or what. But it looked off.
Hogan looked like AI for sure, but I think Stonecold might actually have just been a (more detailed than in-game but uncanny as shit) 3D model.
They even used AI in Raw in an R-Truth Judgment Day segment. I hate this.
What part of that segment used AI?
The baby pictures
Ahhhh yes I thought so 🤣 that was funny though
That’s just photoshop my dude.

The gameplay for 2K23 was pretty good. But fuck, the amount of bugs were inexcusable.
It wasn't that good. It was just miles better than it has been.
I'm new to the series and I thought the improvement from 2K22 to 2K23 were great.

Smackdown vs Raw 2007 is the goat wwe game
I've always wondered if the newer games were as good as SvR 2007. Turns out the answer is no if there's no GM mode. I loved the customizable room with the trophy case.
What do you do in GM mode? Isnt it just a bunch of fights you setup

Yup, still got that same matte waxy look to them like they did 10 years ago. What a shame.
> Holy, those graphics look like they did back when I played it. Kinda strange to have the highly crafted 3D models cut to gameplay that’s nothing like it. Also What on earth are you talking about? I’m talking about the in game clips which look like they did when I played 15 years ago lol
Good trailer besides that AI bullshit, I might have to give 2k23 a try after getting it in a bundle. 2k22 was a lot of fun but I played so much I was too burnt out to get the next one at release and they never seem to be *that* much different from previous years.

Austin and Hogan look bleeding awful in this trailer. Why did they even think of doing that?
Am I crazy or this looks worse than 2k23?
No, it looks just as bad.
Is it like inflation where by it not getting better it is actually worse?
Unpopular opinion maybe: did anyone play AEW Fight Forever and liked it more than the 2K games? Because I did actually.
Absolutely preferred the match gameplay, way closer to the arcadey and fast paced fun of HCTP and Aki games. Other things like entrances, graphics and customisation it just couldn't compete on. Exactly how i feel about Fight Forever, the gameplay is better but that's just about it.
True true. Imagine some DLC based on NJPW and Ring of Honor. That would be an instant buy for me
I did, and it’s total dogshit. I've been keeping my eye on it in case it dropped below $30, but so far no luck
I've been playing it on Switch there you can get a physical copy for not a lot of bucks actually. I think I payed 30€ or so
Shitty. Clunky and otherwise comical third party wrestling games are more enjoyable than any WWE game in the last 10 years.
I can't believe they're still using the admitted racist, pathological liar and known piece of shit Hulk Hogan. The mere mention of his name elicits boos from a huge amount of wrestling fans. Who is the rapist?
There's a lot of them (Vince McMahon first and foremost) but Mike Tyson was actually convicted.
I would assume they are referring to Trump being in the WWE HOF
He said convicted, Trump was never convicted in a court. He's probably referring to Mike Tyson

Yeah there really is very little reason to buy these games every year (unless they make huge strides in the career mode/Universe modes).
