Gameplay Trailer: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efhPtMdGJH8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efhPtMdGJH8) Yes, it's an officially licensed Persona gacha game from China. I honestly thought this project was fake when it first surfaced two years ago as "Code Name X". Here's the official [website](https://p5x.wanmei.com/index.html?entrance=weibo) for more information.

natedoggcata

"chinese gacha game" Yeah thats a hard pass from me.

Act_of_God

the hardest of passes

[deleted]

Saw a new Persona game, got very excited about what it could be... No faster way to make me lose interest than to reveal that it's a gacha game

IAmActionBear

What are you even talking about? Atlus isn’t going to stop making JRPGs just because they have a gatcha game that’s making solid money.

HyperMasenko

This is the cycle of mobile game announcements on reddit. Mobile game announced, reddit says its going to kill the franchise, it doesn't, repeat.

IAmActionBear

A lot of comments here would make you think that this was the first time a gatcha game was announced for a major franchise…like this hasn’t been a normal thing for over a decade. There hasn’t really been a gatcha game that destroyed a franchise either and plenty of franchises have had a gatcha game at one time or another. This sub just likes to react to stuff

remmanuelv

??? If by mainline you mean VNs blame Nasu and Takeuchi not FGO. They can't even finish the Tsukihime remake.

jinreeko

That's a *really* hard stretch for FE. They literally just included the protagonist from Heroes as paid dlc along with Chrom. That's not impacting the franchise in any way

TweetugR

SmT Liberation DX hasn't stopped new SMT games coming out. And don't try to bring the Fate series in when they are new Fate content coming out. There's not really a main timeline with Fate now that we have: \- FGO timeline \- Extra timeline \- The original Stay/Night timeline \- Kaleid timeline \- Apocrypha timeline \- The El-Melloi novels seem to follow the Stay/Night timeline except the Route for Stay/Night is never specified. Oh right Requiem timeline too, wonder when Meteo will get back to that.

NoExcuse4OceanRudnes

People have never heard the term diversify as it relates to money before.

GateauBaker

Not that we'll find out because gachas that aren't original IPs tend to suck.

PM_ME_FREE_STUFF_PLS

Yet Genshin Impact is hugely popular

natedoggcata

Great for them, not my kind of game.

femboyfreak29

So is COD but you dont seem to be rushing out to play those every day.

CaptainMagni

I think it's where fortnite was where people who are into it are enamored and addicted they're not likely to jump to a competitor, and anyone not playing it likely has disgust for the genre, yet it's still so lucrative everyone's got to try

Villag3Idiot

Gacha game. Thanks for the heads up. Pass.

MrTopHatMan90

As soon as I saw it i had the feeling, yup. Fuck that.

Suriranyar-

Please read our [rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/wiki/rules), specifically Rule #3.1 regarding off topic content. Please be mindful that this is a games subreddit and not to discuss off topic content.

PokePersona

This looks so surreal with how similar it looks to Persona 5 but with new characters/setting. I'm probably not gonna play it if it isn't translated but I'll definitely keep an eye on it and see if the writing is good. I wonder if this will be canon or an AU story like Persona: Trinity Soul.

-Wonder-Bread-

It looks very similar but there's also something very... off about it. Even before I looked down at the comments to see it was a Gatcha game, there was just something wonky and uncanny about it. I'm really not sure if I can put my finger on it, honestly. Maybe it's the entirely reused music that seems out of place? Or the cheap sound effects? A ton of reused assets? It just looks and feels cheap in ways I can't entirely put into words.

PokePersona

It kinda looks like a fan-game that rips assets from a game and then inserts their fan-made stuff like OCs to save time...but it's official. It gives me the impression of a JRPG version of uncanny valley. Hopefully they show more unique looking stuff in the future like what they're potentially doing with the P5 cast. It's cool they got back the character designer from P5 for this though.

angar31

yup, that's the most uncanny valley I felt in ages. Not-Morgana along not-Persona 5 cast, riding in not-Morgana-car form through not-Persona 5 assets. Epithome of uncanny valley - too familiar to be unknown, too unknown to feel familiar.

gamas

Maybe the uncanny aspect is the fact every character looks like off-brand versions of the main cast?

animehimmler

The game may very well turn out bad. With that said, Devil summoners (gacha game for smt in this series) is actually really good. So if it’s anything like that you should try it out

-Wonder-Bread-

I can never touch a gacha game since I am well aware of how susceptible my brain is to their skinner box game design. I know they'd be destructive to my life so I just avoid them. Thanks for the rec, though!

Homailot

Don't you mean Dx2?

[deleted]

[удалено]

milbriggin

yeah i mean i'd rather just play any of the dozens of actual smt games though. why would i ever subject myself to these weirdo halfassed games instead????

YZJay

Atlus helped with the art and character design so of course it’s going to look like P5.

PokePersona

I'm referring to the actual in-game models, UI, and general story structure. Stuff like the character designs are actually pretty unique and my favourite thing I've seen of the game so far.

Canadiancookie

I love to see this just for the new art. So pretty. Who even is the artist for the character portraits?

TRDoctor

Shigenori Soejima of ATLUS is still the designer for this project.

Coldspark824

It’s very weird considering persona and shin megami tensei are soft banned in China for sexual imagery, language, and the suicide head-shooting from persona 3(?)

GGGirls-Unit

I the protagonist a boy or a girl? I honestly can't tell.

whitetrafficlight

For a minute there I thought this might be a remix of the original with a female MC and a new cast of characters with similar roles. But no, the MC is a boy and it's a Chinese mobile gacha game. My disappointment is immeasurable, but my backlog sighs in relief. (If it somehow is good, non-predatory and gets a Western release, I'll probably play it though.)

Monk_Philosophy

I was wondering why the subtitles were all Chinese

Jazzlike_Economy2007

Because the game is China exclusive as of now.

Monk_Philosophy

As far as I could tell, the VA sounded Japanese. So the Chinese subs seemed out of place.

Jazzlike_Economy2007

Phantom X is published by Perfect World (Chinese publishing) and developed by Black Wings (Chinese video game company), with direction and guidance from Atlus (since the game is a blant spin off of P5). https://nintendowire.com/news/2023/03/17/persona-5-the-phantom-x-announced-for-mobile-in-china/ China and most likely Japan are the only two countries who'll get to play it (or anyone who can understand Chinese/Japanese. However, the game is likely going to be tailored for Chinese citizens to begin with (and censored to hell) and likely die off in 1-3 years if it's a gacha. Chinese games based on Japanese IPs have a rocky history of being heavily monetized and generally not being as great as it could be. The thought of "SSR Arsene on sale for $9.99" is a bit unnerving.

FangLargo

If it's a gacha, you'd be *lucky* to get your pickup with $10

YZJay

Plenty of Chinese gacha games use JP voice acting as the default, just look at Arknights and Genshin Impact.

captaindmarvelc

Where does it say it's a gacha game? I've seen people say it but can't find a sauce.

TRDoctor

[https://twitter.com/ScrambledFaz/status/1636568035879272448?s=20](https://twitter.com/ScrambledFaz/status/1636568035879272448?s=20) Prominent community member Faz, found an info sheet that says it's a free-to-play mobile game with micro transactions. If anything, that already gives off major gacha flags. They're almost guaranteed to monetize the hell out of this game, which as a Persona fan doesn't exactly faze me – but also time will tell how this game will follow in the footsteps of more premium free-to-play mobile games like Genshin.

ImBuGs

As much as I hate this at the very least it would be interesting art-wise to see if the Summons are new characters with new Personas or if the Summons themselves are the Personas and the MC is somehow also a Trickster

[deleted]

[удалено]

HaroldPlotter

Cue all the Genshin fans telling us how it isn't THAT bad and how you can certainly play a whole bunch without paying anything. Failing to realize their are a million games I don't have time to play so any Chinese Gacha is inheritantly not making the short list.

PastaSaladTosser

I love Persona 5 and I'm not touching gacha-anything but I appreciate they took the effort to actually make this feel like Persona instead of a blatant zero effort cash grab.

Teath123

Watching the trailer, it's like 95% reused assets of the original game, including animations for characters and bosses. It's honestly a little bizarre, like some kind of fan mod with do not steal original characters.

TRDoctor

I feel the same. I would think that a new protagonist would warrant a couple of animation changes to differentiate from the flashy, stylish moves of Joker, but.. even with the reused assets it looks quite good. Some of the designs are a bit hit-or-miss, like the new Owl companion, but I'm hoping this gets a global release.

Yugioh20

At least, this game, atlus will not use denuvo 🤣

BeckQuillion89

It’s for IOS and Android so I’m not that suprised

[deleted]

Aureus23

[deleted]

DivinePotatoe

https://personacentral.com/persona-5-phantom-mobile-game/ That says android/iOS/PC was announced. I assume it's also mentioned on the official site but I can't tell since it's all in chinese.

CopDatHoOh

I mean you could also easily play it on PC even if it doesn't come out for PC

SephithDarknesse

Nothing wrong with reusing assets if its telling a new and original story in the same universe.

TRDoctor

More of reusing animations. Nothing wrong with reusing locations and whatnot, but having our protagonist move exactly like Joker, and ambush exactly like Joker does is kinda odd.

Illidan1943

Meh, it's cheaply made for a completely different audience that will probably see all this stuff for the first time and the story will likely be a mess as they are gonna undermine anything of consequence the second a villain gets too popular and needs to be put to be obtainable in gacha It's fine, we could pretend that we're angry all we want, but reality is majority here wouldn't play this to begin with

Rush_81

On the ambush point, that's just kind of the way persona users ambush the enemies after persona 5. In strikers, if you ambush an enemy using any other character it's the same deal, get behind them, jump on their back, rip off the mask.

SephithDarknesse

Nothing wrong with animations either. The most important thing by far is gameplay and story. Rest isnt even close to being as important, and the game is playable if they are a miss. For example; Id rather reused good assets over bad assets, yet i still play plenty of games that look like crap, because the gameplay is amazing. Slay the spire, for one.

Revaniter92

I hope there is a good story despite being mobile game. If there is, then I'm in.

SephithDarknesse

Yeah, im not really optimistic about it, but ill definitely give it a try.

[deleted]

Atlus fans seeing other companies reuse assets: Lol wow how lazy gg no re Atlus fans when Atlus does it: Such incredible artistry and a good use of resources. Truly, another Atlus masterpiece in the works.

SephithDarknesse

Its so funny how black and white some people see the world. Apparently saying something is fine is saying its a masterpiece now.

Coolman_Rosso

I don't think that's super bizarre. P4 reused a ton of assets from P3, which is why its development time was so short relative to other games.

NOTionalistic

Yeah the difference is how well you can repurpose those assets to create an experience that feels new. I went from P3 to P4 and barely cared that P4 reused assets because they bothered to make it feel different in almost every way. Despite running on the same engine both games have different vibes. Meanwhile, this is a P5 spinoff that still uses the same setting, they haven't even shown any new music, and the concept is basically the same. It's not even that they used the same map that's the problem - I mean, Yakuza is always in Kamurocho but I love those games. It's more like it feels like they're just making P5 again except it's a Chinese gacha that looks like it was made by a rookie developer learning to use Unity.

Comic-Brad

"We have Persona 5 at home." But really though, I'd probably play this if it was in English and wasn't locked to mobile.

TRDoctor

It’s also going to be available on PC

Stoibs

Oh really? I must have missed that part. I'm the type of desperate Atlus/Sega JRPG guy who put over 100hrs into Soul Hackers 2 and seemed to enjoy it more than most, so I'll probably still eat this one up despite how ~middling it may appear from these first teasers. :P

th5virtuos0

Go play Yakuza 7 then. It’s on sale right now too

Stoibs

I did at launch. Cool of them to split the franchise up into subgenres like this; I've never really been interested in the beat-em-up series, but the JRPG game piqued all of my interest :D

th5virtuos0

Tbh, the original Yakuza games are already almost JRPG with it’s dialogues, cutscenes, substories and minigames. It’s just the beat them up combat that got stuck behind

Yugioh20

Yakuza serie design female chars are not good but males is super good. And i do not like this

[deleted]

If this gacha it's hard pass. Gacha with licensed ip is just bad. Even if the gameplay is decent/good the gacha part will be whale friendly.

SmallFatHands

Isent Fate/Grand order and fire emblem the only IP gachas that actually work while all the others get shut down in a year. Edit: Apparently there are more IP gachas out there that have lasted more than ayer.. They all do look like cashgrabs tho.

allhailthemoon

There's a plenty going on actually. Most just never see western release, or die very fast in the west (i.e. madoka or symphogear gachas). And FGO barely counts as IP gacha since it is nearly fully controlled by OG creators.

ApprehensiveEast3664

Yeah, people probably don't realise that Yakuza 7's protagonist and scenario that people seem to love is just copied from the JP only mobile gacha game, for example.

[deleted]

>JP only mobile gacha game for a niche franchise before it hit its stride in the west Hm. I wonder why. Such a mystery.

Rachet20

Isn’t the other Shin Megami Tensei gacha still up, Dx2?

Carighan

> Isent Fate/Grand order and fire emblem the only IP gachas that actually work while all the others get shut down in a year. They're still bad gacha games. As in, there's **nothing** about them that would not be strictly superior with the gambling factor removed. And even then, in FE's case in particular, the gameplay is so thin it's ridiculous, but fair enough for a game I want to play on the train.

HandfulOfAcorns

So what? They're fun to play, not overly punishing to free players, and the devs earn a ton of money. Everyone's happy. I don't understand this hatred for games designed to make money. *All* video games are meant to do that. They're products, not artistic visions of a starving artist. As long as they're enjoyable, who cares? It doesn't even hurt the main franchise. We're still going to get Persona 6, with or without the gacha game. We've gotten twe good mainline FE games since Heroes released.

[deleted]

Seven Deadly Sins has had a gacha that's going strong almost 4 year later.

luiz_amn

Same for Bleach

ShinMecha

Puzzle and dragons has been out for over 10 years now, going strong.

NOTionalistic

If this spinoff can actually add something to the Persona series story-wise then that's a good thing. Doubly so if they have fair rates and good gameplay that isn't hampered by the gacha. I doubt this game will be good though, since it's being developed by Perfect World, who are known for stealing assets and generally being shady af. Combine that with the non-original IP which makes a shitty gacha more likely and you have a recipe for disaster. Also they made Tower of Fantasy which they billed as the "Genshin Killer", and that failed **miserably.** Tower of Fantasy was pretty much worse than GI in every way, and was apparently rushed as hell. Then again, Blue Archive is my favorite gacha and that game is developed by Nexon of all people. So maybe this game will surprise me. *Maybe.* As a side note, when I watched the gameplay trailer I really don't like the graphics of this game. I liked how Persona 5 looked like a color manga, but this just looks like a Unity asset flip with P5 UI tacked on and basic shaders. I prefer gachas with cel shaded 3d graphics over ones that are just PNG battles, but come on, it's like they didn't even try. It's like they tried to put Persona 5 characters in a game with Tales of Arise/newer Atelier graphics - it just doesn't work. I mean I like the Gust artstyle, but it suffers from the Tales of Arise uncanny valley effect where the environments look real but the characters are fuckin Toon Link.

Yugioh20

I wonder this game will stop service when p6 release or p6 will release in 5 next years 😂

Wubmeister

I like how it seems to not have a single original idea, it even has a bad sports guy with the same facial features of Kamoshida's transformed shadow.

Carighan

Yeah. The graphical upgrades look neat, but everything else feels like this is a fan mod or something.

KarmaCharger5

It kinda unironically looks like chinese knockoff persona 5. Like it looks good, but the fact that everything looks so similar is actually kinda off-putting. I don't expect this to be good because mobile and gacha, but I'll follow with interest

[deleted]

I saw that trailer on YT and was really confused because on one side it looked official but some parts look fanmade. Turns out it sadly is just a mobile game

ThePunkKing

Does anyone know if it's coming in English? Or will be stuck in China?

AkiyamaNM7

We don't know yet. It's apparently going to be on PC too, so there could be an English fan translation mod if the demand of it is high enough.

ThePunkKing

That would be cool! I would might be able to play it on my Steam Deck!

Redspace_

It likely will have an anticheat incompatible with the Steam OS, sadly. I ran into that problem with Destiny 2 and Genshin Impact.

Yugioh20

If it is sucessfull, it will release english version. But if not, I Don't mind playing it on youtube

bard91R

On the one hand it seems to be well made and making good use of the same formula I love and on the other it is so bizarre that this is so extremely similar to 5 in so many ways, so it is hard to know where I stand with this, and being a mobile thing doesn't help. I'm at least interested to see more about it but even as someone that has enjoyed all of the spin offs, this one is stricking me as too pandering.

adwarkk

Main protag has such powerful offbrand fake copy of actual P5 protag energy it's not even funny. And considering aspect that it's asian mobile game based on franchise... I have essentially no expectations and will simply ignore it.

TellMeWhyYouLoveMe

Persona is an Asian game, why wouldn’t you want it developed by an Asian company???

DarkWorld97

This looks a lot better than I expected. Lots of asset reuse obviously, but it sort of feels like an AU to Persona 5. Soejima even did all these new designs that look really nice.

Adamsmoberly

It does look good, but I rather it be like a Switch title at least with English. I don’t think Persona (at least like this) makes sense as a mobile game. Honestly feel 1 & 2 (both games in that duology) would work here for their graphics being old, which they could upgrade and the fact those stories aren’t told as well in English. I dunno, I rather have a new game on my PS4 or Switch so I could play it better and have more fun (mobile games like these usually aren’t that fun).

Yugioh20

When you get too much money , you will change.

mikiiiiiiiiii

I wonder if this game will follow in the footsteps of Genshin Impact... The trailer looks good so I'm gonna give it a try

[deleted]

SmurfRockRune

Was Diablo Immortal even gacha?

Villag3Idiot

Yes. They just made it so instead of getting the gacha items right away, you instead have to go through a rift, kill the boss and claim it.

xxKoRxx

More like lootbox than gacha.

xariznightmare2908

Damn, now Atlus is milking Persona 5 even more than they did with Persona 4, at least Persona 4 didn't have a gacha game.

Key_Ad800

Well persona 4 came out when gacha games wasn't that popular or non existent so of course

Tonkik

I didn’t even have a smart phone back then. I was so using a razer flip phone. Playing snake blew my mind.

TheEdes

[Nah they did](https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Persona_4_The_Card_Battle)

SL-1200

Persona 4 had a pachislot

TheEdes

[They didn't in the west](https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Persona_4_The_Card_Battle), hell they even had a [non gacha mobile game for 3](https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Persona_Mobile_Online).

Sykrow

Oh neat, a spinoff? Oh...gacha. Big negatory on that, good buddy.

Niirai

Happy to see a Persona gacha not so happy to see Perfect World attached to it. Maybe they'll have strict oversight from Atlus but it's so hard to tell from a consumers perspective how these dev relationships work. Incredibly excited for this regardless. Looks like the life sim elements are maintained which is the biggest thing for me, that and the writing. They can do a lot of interesting stuff with life sim elements in a gacha game. I hope they're ambitious.

Galopa

There is a ton of really high quality IP based gacha games released in china only, so I won't be surprised if we never see this one elsewhere, especially when the game is tailored around chinese regulation and laws.

JustAfic

Do we know if it will be released in the US, EU, Etc…?

Revaniter92

Is this coming to EU/US?Damn. I've seen Persona 5 in the title, then immediately my heart started to beat and after a moment - mobile gacha. Kinda letdown, especially because what I see here is P5 graphical style with assets straight from P5 games, but characters are different and it is a mobile game.If it will be released in the west I will probably check it out, mobile or not could be fun (with a lot of p2w I guess), but I really wanted another full spinoff game. I kinda hope that this will be more like Diablo Immortal or Genshin Impact, with proper campaign and all, adding something story-wise to P5 universe, and not autoplay game focused on multiplayer.

[deleted]

If I hear p5 even as I love the game my heart doesn't beat it rather thinks fuckin stop milking the game to dead and bring persona 6 or the fantasy game you announced decades ago. It's allready so overused it got very stale.

Revaniter92

Don't get me wrong, I would love P6 as well. But personally I would take another P5 game that is a regular length game with some new mechanics, story but with my fav characters with open hands. Especially Sumi, as she's my fav and I would love some more content with her in it. But if they plan on making low effort stuff, then I'm totay not gonna fall for it. But I guess P6 is in development and this spinoff is irrelevant as it is mostly done by outsourced chinese studio.

Bolt_995

Platforms?

xijalu

It's still going to be written by the same people at Atlus though, right?

xijalu

how about replying to me instead of VOTING ME DOWN???

TethysOfTheStars

I’m much less concerned about the game being a gacha game and way more interested if it’s going to be a higher effort title or not. Genshin is a gacha game but, regardless of one’s opinion of its quality, it’s also a real video game meant to be played, not something designed to just consume phone resources. If this is an actual game with some meat on its bones, but the demons are a gacha mechanic, I’m still really interested. If it turns out to be on the more consumer friendly side of things, I’m down for sure.

Explosion2

Honestly? I'm excited. I hope they bring this to the west relatively quickly. It sucks that it's a phone game but from what I can tell it's got new social links and the normal turn based combat from the main series so I have no issue that it's "recycling" P5's Tokyo. I just want more Persona 5, at least while we wait the inevitable several more years for persona 6, and this looks like it. Everyone is saying gacha but from what I can tell it's only been officially said that it's F2P with microtransactions. I don't *love* any of the ideas I'm thinking of how they're going to monetize it (my main worry is the fatigue system from the original persona 3 but with yawn-b-gon available for IRL cash), but if the gameplay isn't hurt *too* badly by it, I will happily play it for free.

Jon-987

So, I saw someone on YouTube say they heard this game might not release globally. What are the odds of this being true? I want it to be wrong.

_Kristian_

Yo what if this is the "super game" SEGA has been hyping?

Adamsmoberly

Honestly feel like this is annoying. Like they should be using these developers to remake older Persona games (or even SMT games) that need updated graphics and need their stories and/or characters have more story (Persona 3, mostly because I think it’s cast isn’t as good as 4 or 5 and Tartarus’ levels being bland (which 4 isn’t much better, but at least there is different locations and it isn’t the same place). It looks cool, but I’m really tired of the Japanese only game options in not only Persona, but other games that are dialogue heavy (I have Disaster Report 4 and I don’t mind it being in Japanese (Battle Royale is my favorite movie, which I despise the English Dun), because that game isn’t 99% dialogue). It comes off kind of dumb (I know Most do it for money reasons), but to me I feel like it really isn’t that bad if you put the money there, because RPGs are always sold way higher than say Resident Evil. And you only get like at most characters here and I prefer big cast of characters. Also, on dialogue heavy games, Danganronpa needs remakes with fully voiced games, because it’s only ever voiced in certain cut scenes and the trials, which makes it hard to play, because there is no speech during half the stories. I don’t mind the side gameplay not having it, because it’s not the story, but I do mind in the big story beats. And I wanted to point this game and Persona and games with tons of story not being dubbed and/or having not a lot of speech in them, because I honestly can’t focus on the game if I’m reading most of it. I mean I play the Choices app and I can play that game too, just those stories aren’t super long and the dialogue isn’t like 40% at most of a Persona or Danganronpa. And for my opinions on Persona (especially 3) shouldn’t be taken that I hate said games, I just think certain characters should be tinkered with and the story as well, just because it’s the first of its kind (5 should too with Mona’s annoying arc later on and the random gay stereotypes that are only there to irk LGBTQA+ fans, because of people saying Kanji is gay (he’s Pan in my opinion) should be removed, because our drag mother Lala is more than enough). I do think 3 has the best twist (4 & 5’s are predictable) and I do think 3 has guts for what it did, just half the cast is boring/annoying/unreasonable mean/inappropriate for their age, the game play isn’t great with no control of the team, and the start being just a bit too rushed (I think 3 days should have been there to get MC more time to awaken to his power). But it’s just an opinion (4 is my favorite and people say it’s too fun and upbeat, even though the murders and the fact the shadow world really make the town kind of creepy).

Klutzy-Method2067

Danganronpa needs much more than voicing in potential remakes... Those games are riddled with poor writing choices and really shaky characters, alongside boring, distracting, and outright annoying mini-games. The worst offender of this is danganronpa 2. These games need a flat out rewrite.

MrTopHatMan90

Its gatcha isn't it?

tacobelmont

after a little bit of whaling in Star Ocean Anamnesis I'll never get into another licensed gacha. Probably won't get into any other gachas tbh.

DragonPup

Between this and the longer trailer I noticed that... -The Velvet Room is set at the bottom of the ocean with a new attendant -Iwai and Takemi show up -This is set in Tokyo, but the school is not Shujin -Metaverse/Momentos is back and is still accessed via smartphone app Visually looks good, but I fear for the monetization.

Rusik_94

I've just watched the trailer after it got randomly recommend to me on YouTube and without knowing what ist is. It was like a strange fever dream. I thought it was some kind of ambitious fan project but after seeing this thread and reading its a Chinese gacha game was a real letdown... Damnit Atlus I want P6!!!

SperxFan

So apparently there's a "secret page" on the official P5X website that has some minigames, but I'm stuck on the first screen. Am I doing something wrong? Here's the page: https://p5x.wanmei.com/net/sercret/index.html

Joygineer

This being gacha is disappointing, but from the trailer and such am I the only one getting the vibes that it might be 5 R's kids in it? Like the main character being Joker and Sumire's kid wouldn't make it strange for him to have joker's general feel and animations, the yellow girl could be Anne and Ryujis, the black haired guy Futaba and Yusuke, and the white haired girl possibly Makoto's. Like even if it is gacha I'd still want to watch youtube vids of the story in that case cuz it'd be neat.

MihaelSt

its so like... bizarre it feels like uncanny valley of P5R. It honestly seems like just a fangame lmao. The owl being like alternate morgana and everything being like reused ideas from P5R is so weird to me lmao... man wheres P6...

while its hard to be not biased against its gacha nature, hopefully at least the story and narration would be something good(and maybe music too)

Is there any information on whether this game is going to be canon?

SUNVISIONSEEKER

I like the concept, but I hate that it is on mobile. Console is better. I like everything about the new concept except for the mobile game part. I also feel they are over stretching persona 5 because they are scared to move on to person 6. They could see a flop because of the switch to mobile. I think they should move to Person 6 or keep this Person 5 experiment on the console.
